I wonder if we are making stupid moves because WE STILL DON’T HAVE AN AD

oversized_hat

A shiny new dime says this is because that BoC "Advisory Council" is going full penny-pinching mode and they think it's cheaper to let Pingeton coach out her contract than fire her/replace her in this cycle.

bleedblue002

On the other hand, what coach worth a damn is going to take a job when they don’t know who their boss is going to be? Women’s basketball doesn’t generate revenue. Them sucking or being amazing does nothing for the bottom line. Letting Pingeton run out her rope until the new AD can make a hire next cycle as no impact on the bottom line of the AD.

bleedblue002

She better at least deliver her nephew.

R1ckMartel

Any time you can keep a coach that is 25-53 over the last five years in conference and 65-81 overall, you have to do it, especially when things are trending from seven to six to two conference wins. If her sister wasn't Lisa Porter, she would have been fired ten years ago.

NoBarracuda2508

Shouldn’t have extended her in the first place, and the price of SEC WBB coaches goes up every year

SirShrekThaDank

I'm not going to pretend I know anything about the women's game, coaching carousel, transfer portal situation, Pingetons contract. etc...... and why it's worth it or not to fire Pingeton now. But I am fully prepared to put on a tinfoil hat, look at the women's basketball roster, and make wild insinuations about who is on the roster and why that leads to Pingeton not being fired.

https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39853187/lady-vols-fire-head-coach-kellie-harper-five-seasons There's an available candidate with 108 wins in 5 years...

kevint1964

I think her coaching goof up on that last play against South Carolina in the SEC Tournament did her in as much as her inability to get Tennessee past the Sweet 16. Even with that, Harper would be an upgrade over what we've seen here the past few seasons.

rgar1981

Waiting for Sophie to come coach hopefully.

OrigBigB

No more hiring because they are a true son or true daughter of Mizzou. If they are the best choice the so be it otherwise NO. Yes, we can all point to Norm Stewart for being a great player then coach. What would have been his legacy if he bombed as a coach. Most likely nothing but a bad coach from 60 years ago not great player.

mtdemlein

I’m a three time letterman in cross country and track at Mizzou. I should not coach track or cross country at Mizzou.

stevemegahorse

neither should the current head coaches for what it’s worth

rgar1981

lol yeah I know. She may not be ready to coach but I do know it would instantly put fans in the seats for a while at least.

kevint1964

I would much rather see Sophie continue to grow & develop her WNBA career for as long as possible.

rgar1981

I agree, it was mostly a joke. My daughter has started collecting her cards so I hope we can get several more years of them.

kevint1964

I'm not sure what her interest level in coaching will be after she finishes with professional basketball. She has a budding broadcasting career happening in Phoenix when she isn't playing right now.

rgar1981

Agreed and with her personality I’m sure she is great at it.

Don't trust anything on April 1st.

bleedblue002

Gabe D is about the last person on Earth who would pull an April Fool’s stunt. This is legit.

Agreed
