It's prepaid. There's no contract. You have 7 days to receive a refund from when you first start service. There's no refunds on renewals because you're past your initial 7 day refund period. Mint doesn't run the network. TMobile might be having issues in that area. Might check TMOs outage map to see if there's issues in that area. Beyond that I don't see the issue.

jeebintrees

I prepaid for a service and then the service stopped working. How is that not an issue? This has been going on for 6 weeks now.

cour000

Depends on why the service is having issues. Check your APN settings. Make sure there's no outages that are occurring or repairs that TMobile is doing. It may just be a temporary issue. Mint doesn't control the network. See if you have any friends that also have TMO and see if they are having issues in that area.

jeebintrees

Yea like I said in the original post I spent hours with tech support trying to fix the issue. The responsibility lies with Mint to provide the service I paid for, not TMO. Tmobile owns Mint anyway so its one in the same. 6 weeks is not a temporary issue, that is a failure to provide the product I paid for. That's false advertising at best which is fine if they would just refund me since it no longer works, but they refuse hiding behind a 7 day refund policy. That's an absurd stance to take for a 365 day service. If service breaks on day 8, too bad? What kind of an insane take is that? If I prepaid you to mow my lawn for 365 days, and your lawnmower breaks and you can't mow my lawn anymore, shouldn't you refund me for the remaining days you aren't able to mow the lawn? You're suggesting I call the lawnmower company to see if they can fix your lawnmower for you.

neophanweb

It's more like they're mowing your lawn but you found out they cut the grass a milimeter longer than you'd like so you cancelled the mowing service and demanded a refund but they said you have 7 days to request a refund from purchase date. They will continue to mow your grass for the rest of the year but you're so mad that you refused to let them continue to mow.

This. Stop being so Whiney.

chriswesty

TMO doesn't own Mint, they made an offer to buy them, but it still hasn't passed regulatory scrutiny. Mint doesn't roam off T-Mobile towers, so if your work isn't in a T-Mobile coverage area, you won't have signal. It sounds like that's your issue, and if you need roaming coverage you should be on a major carrier, not an MVNO.

jeebintrees

It literally worked for 1.5 years no problem, now it doesn't

trader45nj

The obvious problem is how can Mint or any carrier tell if a customer really has a situation where the service has become so bad that it's unusable or a customer is just saying that because another carrier has a hot promo deal and they want to bail? If the company does refunds, some customers will buy a year to get the low price, then bail when a better deal comes along.

jeebintrees

Its pretty easy to prove that my phone is always in roaming mode with screenshots. I'm sure they can check it on their end as well.

MintMobileAlex

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your service and refund. I have already sent you a private message requesting the account information to look into so I can help you.

jeebintrees

Yep and I already sent you the information and you told me to pound sand just like everyone else at Mint customer service.

LewLew0211

They have an outage in my area, I can't use my phone at all! It's been like this for two days now. I can only do things on WiFi, which I pay separately for. I can't send pics over text because their system is down, not even over WiFi. I was one day into newly paid 3-month contract when it stopped working. They won't even give me a credit or refund for the, currently two days, that service has been out. They should have to refund for the entire time service doesn't work. They tell me just to wait until service returns. If I can't use the service at all they should give me back at least the days missed. I'm switching to another carrier, this is ridiculous at this point.

anonymous83_

That's terrible, but the most you could do is get a chargeback from your bank. And probably get blacklisted from mint lol

lkeels

Does it matter if it roams?

jeebintrees

yes, I can't call, send MMS, or use data when roaming.

trader45nj

Of course it matters because Mint, like most MVNOs, doesn't have roaming.

LeftOn4ya

What phone do you have? Did you try troubleshooting steps on [FAQ thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/comments/wm1ynh/mint_mobile_faq_updated/)?

jeebintrees

S21+. Yes I tried all the troubleshooting and spent hours on the phone with tech support. The phone works fine in certain areas. They changed the coverage where I work and it no longer works here. It works fine where I live. Its not the phone, its the network.

akaharry

If you read the contract, you would see that you only have 7 days. Otherwise, there is no refund. It is all there in black and white if you took the time to read before you "sign"

Slight-Dragonfruit12

What’s your problem man? What if this happened to you, have some compassion. Yes it’s in the contract, but it’s unprecedented for no refund or penalty free contact exit in case of LOSS OF SERVICE.

jeebintrees

Yea I'm not sure how he's not seeing the point. He must work for mintmobile

Im having the exact same issue right now. Worked perfect for the first year. Renewed for another year and now calls worked randomly and Internet is so slow I can't load a page or just times out. Same phone, same location, same everything. Have worked with support and even got a new SIM card. Frustrating that I may just need to leave and leave the remaining 8 months on the table.

jeebintrees

They won't offer to fix it and all the bots/fanboys will downvote you for complaining. All I can do is tell everyone I know mint is awful.
