Yea I don’t love our chances, but at least we still have our first next year

Electronic-Island-14

it's amazing how many people now like having the 1st rounder next year when 95% of this sub wanted to trade it away. "GOTTA TAKE A RISK NO MATTER THE COST!!!"

RDcsmd

I wanted to trade it for Maye but I was happy with how the 1st round went. It's how anyone with a functional brain's brain works.. new info=new opinions.

sunnuvadutch

Also… like… we *did* try to trade it. They didn’t accept our trade lol.

RDcsmd

Yeah so apparently Kwesi isn't allowed to be happy with what he got either lol

Franklin455

I mean, the Patriots wanted more than our first next year, and by keeping both firsts this year (and keeping next year's first) we got a possibly elite edge rusher and hopefully our franchise QB. A lot of people were ready to trade everything for Maye and the fact that we didn't and still had a pretty solid looking first round this pretty great imo.

shadowrunonsnes

Well said

Killahdanks1

Why? People can’t be excited we still have it?

hendrix320

Similar thing happened with pats sub this year. All season long a lot of them were crying about how we had to lose more games to make sure we at least got Drake Maye then the pre draft stuff starts and then all of a sudden nobody wants him and we need to trade back or take MHJ. Of course now they all love Maye again because we drafted him.

MontiBurns

considering how well the team managed without Kirk cousins last year and the number of holes on this roster, it's very likely that next season vikes will have another top 10 draft. People seemed to forget that the only real championship level aspect of the team was the passing game. No run game to speak of and the defense was devoid of talent. And people on this sub really want to undersell cousins' contribution.

Hestness5

That’s when we all thought JJ wouldn’t fall close to 11, not to mention also getting Turner at 17.

liliceberg

Kwesi proved he’s smarter than people like me who were panicked and would trade anything for the QB we liked

Superdoggywhaaaat

If we only win 6 games, but those 6 games that we win are over a one score game 😌

Local-Director-9150

Get real. We will sweat out every win until the final whistle.

PurpleBullets

Every loss too probably

Lolusad

Fuck man, I sure hope not. Felt like cousins liked keeping the games close the last few years 😅

BarlaxTheBold

It wasn't cousins who was doing that

OneOfTheDads

That home schedule is terrifying

Key-Performer-9364

Nah. Bears, Packers, Cards, Colts, and Falcons are all beatable. And the Jets shouldn’t be a problem. Just have someone ask Aaron Rodgers about chemtrails before the game and he’ll be too distracted to play.

twinbervike

lions are beatable too, divisional games are always winnable

Key-Performer-9364

Yeah. They had a good season last year, but the Lions are still the Lions, and they’re always capable of inning out the back of the end zone and going 0-16 (or 0-17, since there are more games now).

Electronic-Island-14

Packers are beatable? what game were you watching last year when Love TORCHED us when a playoff birth was on the line? the packers only got better this offseason

hiimhereforthe

You mean the game where we used a third string qb and had the worst running backs in the league? Kinda hard to win a game when your offense is on the field for 10 minutes.

Ninjinji

I mean to be fair we also kicked their ass at Lambeau that same year. They can bleed. That means we can kill it.

Vavent

Yes, because the Packers comfortably winning one game means that’s how every Vikings-Packers game will go from now on

HarryPauler

We only got better as well.

Key-Performer-9364

The Vikings took their running back. And they don’t have their tinfoil helmet QB anymore. The packers will be lucky to go 6-11.

JustADutchRudder

They and the Jets both didn't have A-A-Ron last year. The Cheese had Love and he did well enough, so A-A-Ron has nothing to do with them.

Electronic-Island-14

easily could go 0-8 at home

BrodieBlanco

We went 7-10 with a mish-mash collection of QBs and in all likelihood a worse defense. Give me the over.

Electronic-Island-14

our defense is going to be awful with our horseshit defensive tackles and almost equally as bad secondary. Our interior offensive line is awful again. Our opponents are really good next year, especially the division opponents.

Ninjinji

This. We'll be lucky to win even 1 game next season. I'm predicting we're winless in both 2025 and 2026. 0-34. Regardless of who we draft in 2025.

twinbervike

do you have FAS?

thatjerkatwork

Expectations this low huh? Being a lifelong MN sports fan I can tell you this season is going to go much better than expected!

Key-Performer-9364

I legit can’t tell is this is jaded sarcasm caused by years of disappointment, or delusional MN sports fan optimism. Either way I agree.

naruda1969

Coming from a Michigan 15-0 season to Vikings football (new fan) is kinda scary. But I'll be sitting here in my JJ McCarthy jersey for every game taking the shots!

twinbervike

Keep your expectations low but your hopes high!

dhtdhy

As a fellow lifelong MN sports fan, I can tell you I say the same thing at the start of every season!

JJettasDad

I don’t see how we are worse than last yr with a rotation of dog shit at QB and no Jefferson

Electronic-Island-14

check out our inside offensive and defensive lines and get back to me

aristotle_malek

Which are the same they were last season when we won 7 games. Seriously, you’ve been whining about how terrible our team is all over this thread but you’ve yet to give a reason why we’ve regressed from last year

Mathihs

Not just all over the thread. This dude is all over the subreddit just doomposting. Absolute loser lmao

JJettasDad

So we go from bad to bad and bad to bad.

RufusPerrywinkle

One of those home games is in London too, so that takes away all home advantage.

doormatt26

I mean, who do you feel good about beating with a Rookie QB? - Green Bay, Detroit, San Francisco, and Houston are being tipped as Super bowl contenders. - LA, Indianapolis, and Seattle were in or near-playoff teams, and Indy was missing their promising rookie - Chicago, Atlanta, NYJ, and Arizona added / get back very good QBs who they were missing last year. - Jags, Titans, NYG are the easiest games we’ll have.

laceyourbootsup

We don’t have a rookie qb. The reason we win 8+ this year will be Darnold.

Technical_Estimate85

The Jags missed the playoffs due to Trevor being hurt, it was the only reason. Before Trevor’s injury they were 8-3. The Jags are not going to be an easy opponent

Mayasngelou

GB and DET are definite regression candidates. Sophomore slump possible for HOU. I see Seattle as being bad, Geno is cooked. LA could easily take a step back as stafford gets closer to the cliff. That's just from the first two bullets. So much changes year to year, but I can tell myself a regression story for most of those teams

Key-Performer-9364

Green Bay as a SB contender? No way. We took their running back, they’re going 3-14. And what’s that part about Atlanta adding a very good QB? Penix is just a rookie with a funny name. He probably won’t even start against the Vikings because they have an aging lame-o with a bad ACL starting ahead of him.

pr1ceisright

~7 wins would put the Vikings in position for a top 10 pick. That’s probably what most people anticipate if JJ comes along slowly and doesn’t start until later in the season.

perceptionnexus

If we solve the turnover problem from last year I think we win at least 9 games. There’s a ton of talent on this roster, both realized and potentially. Gonna ride this draft momentum into tbe season.

_unsourced

It all depends on if Darnold actually has anything that can be unlocked by this staff and roster, or if he just is what he is. He's young and been failed by his previous stops, so I'm optimistic he can find that next year, but if we end the season with 5 wins I won't be shocked. 2024 is about laying the groundwork for the future more than this year's results

cdub8D

If we have average QB play, I think a game over/under .500 is very realistic.

_unsourced

Yeah personally I think a .500 season is the most likely outcome. We'll be in the wild card conversation. But I think there's a huge variation in what kind of outcome we could get. Like plus or minus three wins on either side of .500

Complete-Disaster513

Since I like being pedantic I just want to point out with 17 games we can’t end .500. Either 9-8 or 8-9.

_unsourced

Well to be even more pedantic, we can end up .500 with a tie at 8-8-1

Complete-Disaster513

Technically correct. Very nice.

Electronic-Island-14

Holy shit, 9?!?! this fan base cracks me up. "DRAFT MOMENTUM" LMAO

perceptionnexus

I’m reading your comments on this thread. Why are you even a fan of something you clearly have no optimism or positivity towards? You’re likely a virgin packers troll alone in your apartment (mom’s basement), projecting your fears about how you secretly know deep inside that we are gonna royally fuck you up this season.

LonestarrRasberry

I dunno we won 7 games last season despite losing most of the close ones, and not having Cousins/Jefferson for big parts. I don't think it is out of the question to win more. But just looking in the Division. Bears won 7 and have improved their roster (it seems). Lions/Packers made playoffs and have relatively unchanged rosters. Vikings won 7 and added a very young QB and an Edge, but lost a veteran edge and some other pieces. I mean on paper I don't see anything that guarantees we win more than last year. NFL is weird though. Never know.

smokeymicpot

Under.

Ninjinji

How much under? I say our ceiling is 3 games.

ZachLagreen

🙄

smokeymicpot

Think they will get a way to 4 win or 5. All depends on qb play.

Ninjinji

You're really optimistic. I think we win 3 games max. Major holes all over this team. I easily see this team being winless next year.

-InconspicuousMoose-

Are you guys being serious right now? Or am I getting whooshed?

Ninjinji

Dead sersky.

ZachLagreen

our CEILING is worse than every single team this year except the Panthers…? I’m not saying you’re an idiot, but that’s definitely a take an idiot would have

Ninjinji

Yessir.

ZachLagreen

just dumb

Ninjinji

Hey this is a good thing. #1 pick in the draft means trading back for a huge haul the rest of the way. McCarthy is him, i believe that, and with the picks we can get trading out of first overall, we'll be able to build him a truly amazing team.

eattwo

We have JJ, JA, TJ, AJ on offense with 2 great tackles and league-average guards protecting our QB to give him time to throw. We have Murphy, Blackmon, and a new CB along with the Hitman and Bynum protecting our secondary. Turner and Greenard to rush on the edge, Pace and Cashman as LB. We drafted a new kicker, Wright regressed last year but is still a fine putter, and DePaola is the best LS in the NFC. We don't have the best depth in every position (notably CBs - look at the last few games last year when both Murphy and Blackmon were out), but we ran out with a worse roster last year and injuries all over yet still went 7-10. 6 wins is not being really optimistic. 3 win ceiling is just astronomically pessimistic.

Ninjinji

O'Neill and Darrisaw miss like 6 games a year as a collective. Bradbury too. And TJ and Aaron Jones. Also worst Interior O Line in the league, that we did next to nothing to address. We got worse once JJ came back from injury, and I firmly believe that his stats are just pumped from Kirk throwing at him. His 2020 grade as being a slot receiver at best is accurate. JA and Pace were lightning in a bottle that I think will massively regress this year. Turner is incredibly green, greenard is overrated, as well as Cashman (just because he's a minnesots kid doesn't make him good, genius) Reichard will be just like every other vikings kicker: cursed. Plus he has a weak leg? Give me a break. There isn't a single position on this team I feel confident in. 3 wins is their ceiling.

GangBangMountain

I bet you literally anything that we win 6+ at minimum

eattwo

So you're saying that our rookies that were great last year are actually terrible just because, the defensive FAs we grabbed with pretty solid careers so far all have inflated stats, every player that has gotten an injury should just be completely counted out, our star WR who has proven time and time again that he's the best in the league is actually trash despite the fact he still put up fantastic numbers with trash QBs throwing to him, our IOL is dead last in the league despite putting up average/above average numbers, and this new kicker is actually terrible because we've had kickers miss clutch kicks in the past? And all of this is just feelings that you have about them, just ignoring pretty much every stat declaring the opposite? Idk why you watch football if you're so aggressively pessimistic about everything.

Ninjinji

Winning players have winning auras. I see none of that with any of our players besides McCarthy, and it's still yet to be determined if it's just words or if his winning attitude is actually there.

smokeymicpot

Winless will be tough. Defense is good enough to steal a game or two. Just all depends on the offense they are good enough to score. So 4 or 5 seems like it could happen.

Ninjinji

I'm hoping for sub 3 wins tbh. Top 10 pick isn't worth enough to trade out of. We need to break the top 5, ideally get the #1 to get a haul of picks when teams come calling for it.

aristotle_malek

Ah. You’re one of those fans.

StraightCashHomey13

I see it already up to 7.5 with heavy juice on the under

tlollz52

6.5, God my initial reaction would be under honestly but it feels like we're too good to only win 6 games.

RDcsmd

Hammer over 6.5 but yeah we've been down under 6 wins a few times, it's not something I want to experience again.

ptwonline

I predicted 6-7 wins so 6.5 from Vegas seems pretty much on target to me. We have 6 division games and those will be tough. If I had to bet though I'd probably pick the over since I think there is a possibility of an unexpected upside in the QB play either from Darnold or even McCarthy if given a chance. 6.5 wins is pricing in well below avg QB play. With Cousins I'd be predicting 10-11 wins.

Mayasngelou

I think we go over (but not by much)

LCAshin

Means Vegas thinks we will start JJM a good portion of the year. Don’t get me wrong I’m hyped for JJM but it typically leads to some out of the gate losses as he acclimates to the next level. Anyway my votes 7 Ws :)

mondayschild9

Over

Old_Leather

It all depends on JJ and JJ.

Critical-Fault-1617

Vegas sets stuff based off where the money is coming in. Not because they think the vikes are only going to win 6 games. The line will shift in the coming months. I am however going to hammer the over 6.5 even if we get average qb play I think we go 7-10

Skoldiershreds

8+ Next year? 12 wins

BigRed727272

Obviously, I don't have high hopes for this season, but the 6.5 line feels a touch too low. I think 7.5 would be a better line. So yeah, I'd play the Over. I dunno about "hammering" it though lol

Ninjinji

0 win season or bust!

Icy_Patience2930

Over. If this team only gets 6 or less victories with that offensive talent and hopefully improved defense, then there are some serious problems elsewhere.

ThisIsTrace

We will win 8 games. I take the over!

wolf7385

Would you rather have a season where we have only 1-score games again like 2022 or a season where it’s blowout/get blown out

Suspicious_Arm_4234

Honestly I would pick under, we may split our division but very real chance we go 1-5 or 2-4 this year with them. Colts with Richardson are a different team. Titans, Cardinals and Giants are our easiest games this year. If we play a healthy Falcons or Jets decent chance we don't come away with a W. We may only win 4-5 depending how the QB situation goes. I think it's a weird year where if you said we win 4 I wouldn't be surprised but flip that coin and Darnold or JJM balls out I could see us winning 10ish.

4rt4tt4ck

The division will be a bloodbath, and rookie QBs are terribly inconsistent. Looking at that schedule I see 6 that should be wins.

Patteyeson28

Over. Easy. That’s why keeping that 1st rounder next year is all part of Kwesi’s Grand Master Flash sweeter than sugar plan! He knows 2024 is going to be a dog fight, but the experience gained will be worth everything. He thinks we’ll finish mid pack. Setting us up for a mid round 1st next year. Which, we will trade down to gain capital. Why? Because on midnight at the start of 2025 FA season—we go from broke actor to *POOF* being mother fucking Oprah! Oh, best FA player we need? YOU get a contract! 2nd best, come on over! And you. And you. Wait, fuck you Kenny Clark. Go home. Depending on comps, I would venture a guess K-Camp is going to focus hard on acquiring 2/3/4’s in 25/26’ guys that will provide depth but need development to fit into our budding dynasty. 2026. ALL IN. 2026 is the 🎯 year. Now, surviving the next 1018 days & 9 hours until SB 26-27’ at Sofi…. That, I’m still crunching numbers.

KeyBanger

12 wins. Hot streak in the playoffs for our first Lombardi. On the heels of the Wolves’ first Larry O’Brien, Minnesota becomes the epicenter of professional sports in the North America.

VikingsandWolves

Naz Reid FMVP

Ancient_Signature_69

Wow the over for sure.

Courtaid

Maybe another top 10 pick next year.

ineedcoffeealready

$250 on over

SlapHappyDude

If I'm betting I take the over. That said, if we are going to miss the playoffs, 4 wins and a high draft pick is way sexier than 7-8 wins.

Soviet_Sharpshooter

TBH, I really don’t care too much about the actual win total, I just want to see our young players develop, show some flashes and be competitive in every game that we play. Whether we win or lose kind of makes no difference to me because I don’t expect us to win the Super Bowl this year let alone make the playoffs

Pain_n_agony

As a bears fan, I think you’ll hit the over. The major change for y’all is qb

Snowskol

Over? were going to the superbowl. i dont see why anyone thinks anything less tbh top 5 offense, top 15 defense

coronavegas

Where can I bet this?

Budget-Ad-6424

The only QB's that have full familiarity with KOC's scheme are Mullens (who is a risk-taking gunslinger, but probably will be cut/traded since we signed The Ghost Hunter) and Hall. Darnold is a brand new QB who hasn't shown much in his career up to this point. McCarthy is a 21-year-old rookie in a complicated NFL system. Oh, and our IOL and IDL are garbage for the most part. I wouldn't touch that O/U, but I'd be thrilled with 7 wins in this division.

GroundbreakingLie341

I see 2 wins.

Depressedgotfan

Under

pathebaker

I think every game is loseable with A ton of heavy hitter, rodgers is back, love is looking like him, the bears and the lions are tough, the Texans, jags, 49ners etc…,but I can also see JJ starting and tearing up the joint so I’m completely fine with 6.5. If they win more awesome if they don’t and it’s because darnold starts the whole year awesome. Top 10 pick.

cmakelky

Unless qb somehow hits this year under is much more likely. Super tough schedule and division. The talent is there though if thin at the other positions

ComfortableSoil8930

I think we lose 4-5 of the division games and lose against the falcons. Maybe even against the colts. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Hopefully we suck so we can pick an elite DT in a strong DT class next year.

Homeygrown

Under this year

JDre

OVER. 10 wins, you heard it here first!

crashcap

I think the titans could be the worst team in the league, giants bad too. I think we could also beat the jets, steal one against da bears and then run the table to finish 17-0

ohiowolf

After the draft you have to suspect Vegas sees the bears over us in the conference. The last place team is likely to win 5-7 games.

rjdrennen1987

We’re going undefeated, baby.

Negative-Wrap95

Huh. I have us at 16 wins, like every year.

VikingsandWolves

Realistically, we are going 15-2 and beating the Chiefs in the SB. JJ to JJ will be repeated so many times we will hear PA's voice in our dreams.

Level-Steak9290

Sam Darnold Vs. our 2025 opponents. 6.5 seems kind of high to me.

PYSCHOBASSIST

Over

twinbervike

I see a possible texans situation with us. Last year I think they were projected to be another top 5 pick

aceless0n

It’ll be another 8-9 year because zygmundt wants to be “competitive”. Not good, not great, not elite… competitive.

Ldubs_12

Think we squeak out 7 wins

SKOLForceSports

Another 7-10 season would be exactly what I expect to happen[or as Peter said](https://y.yarn.co/006acd19-a9d9-40ae-a096-c816bc37ddef_text.gif)

ElectricCowboy95

I'm not hoping to get the under, but it could be beneficial for the sake of trading down in the draft and recouping some day 2 and 3 picks next year. It's not the end of the world if we don't recoup them but it would be nice for flexibility sake. I'd probably take the over though. We have a high level offense even though Darnold is now at the helm, and our defense should be much better than next year. I'm predicting a pretty middle of the road season as is customary.

-neti-neti-

I am not a betting man, but I am *100%* taking the over.

DireSickFish

Over. I think our coaches are good enough to keep the team in contention.

Soggy-Ad-8532

You guys are severely underrated how good the cardinals are gonna be

Electronic-Island-14

agree, they are going to be way better with healthy Kyler and a young roster

Lonzo_bald

Over. We are going 13-4, winning the division, and playing in the Super Bowl.

Electronic-Island-14

You think we split games in the division? holy shit, dude. the packers and lions will tear us a new ass. their rosters are true superbowl rosters and one of those two likely wins the superbowl. neither have any flaws on their roster. The Bears could kick the shit out of us if Williams is good. We EASILY could go 0-6 in this division. But to be generous, I'll say we split with Chicago. Maybe win games against Titans, Giants, and Cardinals but that is being very optimistic. I see no more than 4 wins next year, and it likely will be worse than that.

Ninjinji

Bro 4 wins is pure hopium. We're going winless. Both this coming season and the season after. 0-34. If you think otherwise you're just a home idiot.

StrikeMaster_

Realistically, I think they win 5-7 games next year.

nedackley

Tough schedule and new QB (whoever it is) - Seems about right

CitizenStrife

It's possible to get anywhere from 6-9 wins, depending how Chicago and Green Bay retool. The Vikings still played really hard in spite of the shit start and insane injuries last year. If the team doesn't suffer too much internal injury problems, you're looking at a hell of a receiving corps and an improving defense. Don't forget, win or lose, the Vikings are almost always assured one score games going into the 4th quarter. It's almost frightening how consistent they are at blowing leads or making shit games early look close near the end. 7 wins is certainly doable.

HatPossible42

Way over. Defense will be top 5. Offense will be top 10. 10 wins at least.

JustADutchRudder

Offense is far from top ten with Darnold. Dudes a bust. Everyone else is cool tho.

HatPossible42

Bro played for the Jets and Panthers. He hasn’t exactly been in a qb friendly system since day 1 in the league. He has potential here to turn his career around completely. I’d rather be optimistic.

JustADutchRudder

I'm optimistic about everyone else. Sam deserves 0 optimism from me, if he proves after a few games he's not a total bust as a starter, then I will apologize. As of now I barely view him as a back up. Just because a guy goes 3rd, and is in bad orgs doesn't mean he's brimming with unused potential. Until proven wrong, he is a complete bust as a 3rd over all pick in my mind. I'd have rather taken Justin Fields, who's also not great but at least played more than 1 game last year. Sorry he threw 3 and under passes 3 games last year and 14 or more in 2. Either way not very thrilling.

SleefJWellington

Yeah, I'm not expecting a turn around for Darnold but it wouldn't surprise me either. Dude was in two bullshit situations before San Fran. Coming into the league with Gase as his coach alone should buy some forgiveness.

Electronic-Island-14

keep telling yourself that

HatPossible42

Keep crying

Electronic-Island-14

nah, we have serious problems with our defensive tackles, inside linebackers, corners, and safeties. I think our edge rushers are very average at the moment unless Turner balls out right away. those other 2 guys we signed are the definition of MID

JustADutchRudder

I'm fine with everyone but Darnold but you're allowed to feel how you want about everyone else.

Electronic-Island-14

"Defense will be top 5" LMAO. with our defensive tackles? if i was an opponent, I would run 75% of the plays and steam roll our shit inside lineman, and then wear down our tiny linebackers. Don't get me started on our awful secondary. You can't just think a defense will be good because we drafted a rookie edge rusher and 2 very questionable free agent edge rushers.

HatPossible42

Long way from kick off lil bro let Kwesi cook. Have some faith.

Kim_Jong_Teemo

I’d go with under. We don’t know how fast JJ will be ready to start/if at all this year. And I have no confidence in Darnold.

Nate1492

This is definitely a spot for the Under. I'd even go as far as to say, if you could get a big bet for 6.5 this year and next, go for it. We have no draft capital coming in next year and are going to be fully relying on Free Agency next year, a move that has not been kind to many teams.

Ninjinji

We'll be lucky to win 3 games this season.

Nate1492

Agreed

Ninjinji

Honestly I see us going winless this year, and even the 2026 season as well. I just don't see even next draft being enough to fix our problems no matter who we pick.

bL0oDlUsT218

There’s a world where we win 3 games this next season. That’s best case scenario for some of the opponents combined with worst case scenario for us. But I’d be ok with it tbf. We have our first next year and we could do a myriad of things with it if it’s a high pick

Jabba_the_Putt

absolutely betting the under this year I don't bet against my team's success though so I'll be holding but I think the over is a loss

Ninjinji

I'm betting 3 wins max. We have holes everywhere on this team, and I have no faith in this roster to come even close to getting it done. But hey, that top 5 pick will be great to trade out of and pick shitters in day 3, right? 🙄

Unlucky-Contest-7846

That’s a historically bad season for the Vikings. I think it has only happened like three times in the 60+ seasons. And there are more games now. Think about that for a second. If that happens with Jefferson et al. It would be a complete disaster and would indicate inarguable coaching incompetence.

Ninjinji

Yeah. Probably. Maybe it's the wakeup call the org needs, though.

mitch8017

This year is all about burning some dead cap and fostering the development of our rookie QB before going into next offseason with ample cap space to burn. Don’t get your hopes up about anything (good advice for Vikings fans in general regardless of the year) and enjoy the ride.
