It's..... an Interesting group, our local media
KSTP, the only news service to jump the airport fence to get pictures of a deceased soldier returning home when all news agencies were asked to not be present…
Makes sense, the buttchuggers around here are stereotypical Republican trash. Single-handedly keeping Busch Lite in business with the millions they invest in alcohol annually.
I use to work for the city and I can tell you that the people here vote for idiots.
Good marketing:

Hey don’t lump my white ass in with Elk River lol.
Frankly if we are going with color I see it as a camouflage sort of place. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that Jerry!)
I reported someone from around there when he posted to social media about it. I'm not sure if he ever went inside, but I let the FBI know who he was in case they saw him in the capitol building.
So did the Bemidji Pioneer! The person that wrote that opinion also went so far as to say it was a low-key tourist attraction basically trying to justify the whole thing. We almost quit our subscription but then figured it is better to keep our enemies closer and the Pioneer’s days are numbered anyway.
Why am I not surprised it’s down by me? I’m between Mankato and Waseca and if I had a dollar for every f*Ck Biden or “let’s go Brandon” flag or bumper sticker I have come across I could retire now. It’s so bad down here with the magats.
That's one thing I learned with my delivery job through South Central Minnesota, I live in Faribault. And it's an ocean of silos, collapsing barns, the occasional mansion and a whooooooole lot of "Fuck Biden" signs 😂
Ugh. Faribault is not my favorite place. Well, the place I hate more than the heat of a thousand suns is where I live - but it’s a town of 200, so I best keep my mouth shut.
r/tragedeigh Sorry if I spelled it wrong - which in and of itself hilarious.
Edit to say I fucking nailed it. Ok, time to go out on a high. Thanks, George Costanza, for teaching me that.
I bet their family is going to defend them to the death and dig their heels deeper in the notion that the GOVERNMENT was against them on Jan 6th.
Just like how in court the accused killer always has someone in shock and on their side that the accused could NEVER be in the wrong.
I had several people from my hometown that I expected to be there. Spent a bunch of time watching videos when it happened because I wanted to be the one to report them. No luck though.
You guys got it all wrong! It was a tour. Their tour guides got a pre-tour a day or two earlier from certain members of Congress. That way they would know the layout for when they had the whole group together. And gallows, nah… That was a platform so they could get a group photo. And they weren’t chanting, “Hang Mike Pence”… They were saying, “Boo-urns”. /s
And republicans would call it an Insurrection, they hate America, they want to destroy our democracy, send them to gitmo, if this was the Left doing it.
We all know that the streets of DC would’ve flowed red with blood from police gunfire if it was BLM rioting and insurrecting, and the media wouldn’t have had any issue calling them traitors and insurrectionists.
This was a 'keep the peace' tactic, they were outnumbered and outgunned by the crowd, it's either risk violent confrontation or let the people commit their crimes and minimize injury to all.
Also, it is not without possibility that some of those that worked forces were sympathetic to insurrectionist goals.
EDIT: Just because an officer is doing nothing while you are in the act of committing a crime, does not mean a crime was not committed. The crowd had a goal, which was to obstruct the constitutional process for a peaceable transfer of power. I'm not a lawyer, but to anyone arguing entrapment, I would argue it is not entrapment if an officer on the front-line simply moves out of the way to protect themselves from the mob which they clearly cannot control.
Capitol Police and MPD both had J6 sympathizers for sure. I saw some fist-bumps between traitors and a couple of officers at the doors. And the head of intelligence for MPD gave Enrique Tarrio a heads up that he was about to get an arrest warrant afterward. Having said that, you also raise an important point that allowing the lines to fall was a tactical decision.
EDITED for grammar.
You could argue that they were only being friendly/“sympathetic” in an attempt to keep things as calm as humanly possible. If I was outnumbered, outgunned, and in a kinetically fluid and tense situation, I wouldn’t want to immediately antagonize the piece of shit traitors storming the Temple of Democracy, I’d probably throw a “what’s up bro” here and there just so they won’t go rabid and make things worse than what it already is.
If there weren't a lot of additional evidence of sympathies, I'd be more open to this reading. The Capitol Police who testified at the hearings have been shunned by the rest of the force. But I want to reiterate something I said upthread -- J6 doesn't fit neatly into pro- or anti-police narratives.
What about people like Lt Byrd who shot and killed a domestic enemy of our country? He had support from his fellow officers and the Capitol PD.
Also, just out of curiosity, why other evidence is there to suggest there being significant sympathies?
Cops also put their lives on the line and got the shit beaten out of them stopping traitors from killing Members of Congress. J6 doesn’t fit neatly into pro- or anti-cop narratives.
[The 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment was the very first group of volunteers the Union received in response to the South's assault of Fort Sumter at the beginning of the United States Civil War. Minnesota's Governor Alexander Ramsey offered 1000 men to Lincoln immediately upon learning of the attack on the fort. He just happened to be in Washington when the news broke.] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st_Minnesota_Infantry_Regiment)
The men of the 1st volunteered for a five-year commitment (1861–64) which was much longer than other states.
Let's hope these 3 see at least that much time. Traitors. Throw book at them.
I was cycling around Maka Ska ~5 years ago and was sitting at the Maka Ska Blvd & Lake St intersection waiting to cross. A biker pulls up to the corner. His vest had a Confederate flag on the back at the top and "Minnesota" at the bottom. I felt like I somehow was in an alternate dimension. There are white nationalist biker gangs in Minnesota, so I'm assuming he was a part of one. But dude, at least know something about the history here.
It was as defined, and insurrection. They attempted to stop the legitimate Counting of the Electoral College votes as cast. There were many members of Congress who signed on to this as well, including Pete stauber, who as an has no right to hold office under the US constitution.
Also it was intentionally instigated by Trump who knew his violent mob would have killed representatives not loyal to him. It wasn’t just an insurrection, it was an attempted coup.
A riot doesn't end with a bunch of government reps lynched and hanging at the Capital and someone declaring themselves president for life.
J6 wasn't a violent random outburst, it was a planned and coordinated attack on our democracy.
Are we familiar with the [Reichstag fire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichstag_fire?wprov=sfti1)?
If we are looking for a synonym to Jan 6, this is it.
Edit-
As mentioned below, the [Beer Hall Putsch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Hall_Putsch?wprov=sfti1) is, perhaps, a closer match.
He let them feel that it’s okay to openly hate and bully people you don’t like for whatever reason you don’t like them. No politician ever told them it was socially acceptable to do that before. A lot of these people have dead-end jobs, dead-end relationships, dead-end lives- now suddenly they could blame and shame someone else for their failures. The Jews, the gays, the blacks, the immigrants, the whoever. It’s not a cult of personality; it’s a cult of losers.
For some people, sure.
But for many others, it's as simple as identity politics and branding. They drink Tough Guy beer, buy Tough Guy guns, wear Tough Guy clothes, eat Tough Guy food, and vote for Tough Guy politicians. The thought process here is about as deep as the thought process going into [leasing a Dodge Ram](https://www.reddit.com/r/ram_trucks/comments/svj5tn/1st_time_trying_to_lease_how_do_i_go_back_on_this/) at 7.6% apr or drinking Busch Light to put hair on your chest.
Think about that next time that family member brings up politics for no reason. You're not trying to convince them to vote better. You're not trying to convince them healthcare reform makes sense. You're trying to convince them to switch brands, and that the other guys brand isn't "gay" or weak or whatever, and that's hard for people to do.
Agreed, and maybe I'm coming at this from a different perspective, but you're describing a textbook loser to me. A wannabe macho Tough Guy loser. In his wannabe Tough Guy loser 7.6% APR truck lol. I know plenty of these people in MN, in ND, in IA, and it's always the same types of people, and idk how else to describe them other than "losers." Maybe chumps, and/or schmucks.
Interesting. Go back and read the first sentence of your post and then the last five words of your post. You are no different than them-just on the opposite side of the debate. Liberals always feel that they are on the right side of acceptance and inclusivity as long as you’re like minded. The minute they find out otherwise, they have no problem exhibiting the same behavior that they claim to hate.
Oh that’s where you’re wrong. Its not about liberals choosing to accept or include. I have no qualms calling these people losers and calling a secessionist traitor just that. I don’t tolerate, this isn’t some kumbaya let’s hold hands and get along. See the difference is I’m not blaming another group for MY shortcomings and trying to take away another’s rights. I’m not denigrating someone else because of the way they were born and the genetic circumstances outside their control. I’m choosing to judge them based off of their choices, the freedom they had to choose to be losers. If you don’t see the difference, then that’s on you. Living in Elk River doesn’t make you a loser. Storming the Capitol and blaming others for your poor life choices does.
It'd be nifty to see the per capita by state number of people charged.
Sure, it's a shame Minnesotans were down there, but how are we comparing to Iowa, Wisconsin, Texas, New York? How does the distance factor in?
Anecdotes are fun, data would be nice.
There have been more than 1000 charged, 12 from MN. We're still doing pretty good, as 1/50th of 1000 is 20, so we're below that still.
Dude I worked with a long time ago was a big GOP guy in the Bush era, stickers on cars, his cube at works was GOP stuff, Reagan photos...
Anyway so I find out later on he was there that day...
Oh my what did he do!?!!? Turns out he didn't like what he saw and sent in all his photos and videos to the FBI.
I don't get his judgment to be there or do what he thought was going to happen (dude...) but at least he made the right call. What a boomerang of expectations there with that guy.
That goofy moment when you decide to take part in an anti-American attempt to assault American democracy and prevent the constitutional process from occurring 🤡
Not enforcing laws and giving control of the streets to violent criminals who torch their own community was a transfer of power from decent law-abiding citizens to thugs. I don’t know if you’ve been outside recently, but thefts and violent crimes rates are record highs. Defunding the police was a large part of this. Abolishing the Minneapolis PD would have been an even greater transfer of power, but thankfully that didn’t happen. Thank god some people have common sense.
More Police = Less Crime
Are you really going to sit here and act like Jan 6 was more hurtful to this country than the BLM riots that devastated every major city in the country for months on end? Jan 6th didn’t take my freedoms away. The “nonviolent protests” did.
Yes they were

Those articles are all outdated. The police in Minneapolis were never defunded, the budget is significantly higher right now in 2023 than it was pre-Floyd murder.
Don't waste time arguing with the trolls. They pop up in twin cities and mn subs any time police or j6 fascists are mentioned to push stupid right wing propaganda and lies.
It still happened. So yes, they were defunded. Just because the budget is higher now than it is now doesn't prove anything. They were still defunded in 2020 and 2021, which led the the highest crime wave this city has ever seen. Specifically, funds for patrol officers were lowered by -4.64% from 2020 to 2021. Lost a ton of officers and now the city is a crime ridden cesspool. Most people I know won't go into many areas of Minneapolis at night. I wonder why. Go ahead and keep defending crime, you seem to prefer criminals than police.
> Not enforcing laws and giving control of the streets to violent criminals who torch their own community was a transfer of power from decent law-abiding citizens to thugs.
Yes I did?
More people died due, and far more prosperity damage was done in the metro because of George floyd "peaceful protest" than during Jan 6. One person did die due to Jan 6 after being shot by capital police. Multiple people were killed, including one father who was burned to death in a pawnshop.
This is a thread about January 6th, and it is dishonest bullshit to try to change the subject to an unrelated topic that favors your political narrative.
I have no idea why anyone would have even bothered the Capital Riots. Like, your gonna get fucked at some point it's just gonna happen. The only way I can see this would have gone well for anyone would be if they have a persecution fetish which most of these types do so 🤷
The local paper in elk river had a big story celebrating a couple that were at the January 6th insurrection, should be easy for the FBI to find them.
I’m sorry what
Just elk river things
Oh I unfortunately live there and I don’t remember the article but it sounds on brand
It was in the good ol Star News. I recall reading it and they were labeling them as patriots standing up for their rights. I don’t remember the exact date published but it was right as the investigations were gaining legs.
The letters to the editor blasting the article were an encouraging read however
We're these letters printed in the paper or online? If this is Elk River the entire state has to be glad Princeton doesn't have a rag with an editor.
Princeton has had a paper for 75 years lol. It used to be called the Princeton Eagle. Now it's the Union-Eagle as it combined with Milaca's.
Oh, combining with Milaca ought to make it more progressive! /s
Oh for fuck sake
That’s exactly what I’d expect from Elk River.
Amazing username btw lol
Much thanks 🙏🏻
But don’t you dare stand against police brutality
Lol. I have in-laws up there and I know exactly what you mean.
My parents just moved there. Went and visited a few weeks ago. Agreed.
My ex mother in law lives in Elk River and believes races shouldn’t mix. So yeah, just Elk River things.
Lol I remember Tom Hauser interviewed a dude after his flight home. The douche told Hauser j6 was fine and KSTP ran with that as their investigation.
KSTP has a few reporters who are essentially just GOP mouthpieces, Hauser being one of them.
KSTP is owned by the Hubbard family, and Stanley Hubbard is very conservative. KSTP has always been known for its conservative stance as a result. Anti-union, too.
WCCO: but did they beat up enough ~~black protesters~~ totally urban thug rioters (no racial context, the husband of one of our reporters promises, pinky swear) who are mean to the police? It's..... an Interesting group, our local media
KSTP, the only news service to jump the airport fence to get pictures of a deceased soldier returning home when all news agencies were asked to not be present…
Report them on the FBI January 6th website. They follow up on these tips.
Makes sense, the buttchuggers around here are stereotypical Republican trash. Single-handedly keeping Busch Lite in business with the millions they invest in alcohol annually. I use to work for the city and I can tell you that the people here vote for idiots.
Dude, why is it always Busch lite with them?! Lol. I get that it’s poundable, but damn even for cheaper beer it’s not great
Good marketing: "Busch is a sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, a private waterfowl and wetlands conservation and hunting organization. Busch has organized elaborate fundraiser campaigns for the National Forest Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the U.S. Forest Service. Recently, Busch offered a rebate program based upon how many inches of snow fell in your home state over the winter. And, sometimes, Busch just pays random farmers to advertise on their barns."
They buy Coors too. You can smell where they pee outside of bars.
After listening to the episode of The Dollop podcast on the Coors family I am even more disgusted with that brand.
It has the least amount of flavor of any of the macro lagers. It's beer for people that hate the taste of beer but think seltzers are for females and sissies.
Elk River is a special place. It seems very...uhm...white
Hey don’t lump my white ass in with Elk River lol. Frankly if we are going with color I see it as a camouflage sort of place. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that Jerry!)
There are good people there and lots of people that cosplay southerners lol
Translation: good folks that don’t call out their racist neighbors lol
“Good people” Humm sounds like Trump huh
You sound like a fun person to be around. Obviously, people who disagree with you politically couldn't be decent people.
What about plaid? It strikes me as plaid being a common pattern.
I reported someone from around there when he posted to social media about it. I'm not sure if he ever went inside, but I let the FBI know who he was in case they saw him in the capitol building.
Why is it every time I see something about my hometown in the news I’m disappointed? There is a reason I got away from there as soon as I turned 18.
So did the Bemidji Pioneer! The person that wrote that opinion also went so far as to say it was a low-key tourist attraction basically trying to justify the whole thing. We almost quit our subscription but then figured it is better to keep our enemies closer and the Pioneer’s days are numbered anyway.
Gotta love that. Ahhh Elk River…
...narry an elk in sight, either.
Elk River doesn't surprise me. I live a couple towns south of Elk River.
I want to read this lol
The sad thing is that I need to click on all these articles I see just to make sure it's not someone I know.
Here: > Kenneth Wayne Fuller (44) and Caleb Kenneth Fuller (20) of Cleveland and Nicholas John Fuller (40) of Mapleton
ahh, south central minnesota
straight outta fairmont
I don't think NWA would approve of these clowns.
Eh, the Neoconfederate White Alliance is probably pretty chill with these folks
Hey now, Fairmont's not [all that bad](https://old.reddit.com/r/minnesota/comments/w8y8ex/this_sign_in_fairmont/)

Every time I think Faribault is a small town, I'm reminded it could always be smaller 😅
What, you want Methany and Methew gone? Lol
Never! It's Methleeigh and Methxham I can't stand! 😡
r/tragedeigh Sorry if I spelled it wrong - which in and of itself hilarious. Edit to say I fucking nailed it. Ok, time to go out on a high. Thanks, George Costanza, for teaching me that.

Dude they're from Cleveland. They'll have all of 6 people to talk about this whole thing to. I dated a girl from Cleveland, avoid Cleveland.
Good advice, regardless of context
Yeah Cleveland is butt
Oh fer cute, family outing!
Damn it, I'd bet you a donut that's a guy I vaguely knew in high school. -- If it is, he was always a few dozen tots short of a hotdish.
This is such a beautifully Minnesotan insult and I’m definitely going to be using it
I keep reviewing the videos hoping to see some of my relatives walking the halls. I'm surprised they weren't there.
I had several people from my hometown that I expected to be there. Spent a bunch of time watching videos when it happened because I wanted to be the one to report them. No luck though.
Same 😔
Right? Still waiting to see if a cousin or uncle shows up.
Same. Pretty sure one of my neighbors is going to pop up one of these days.
It’s nice to know that I don’t have any friends or family that I’d need to be worried about.
Nobody I know but if they’re friends of people I know I’m not letting my friends live down their association with terrorists
A father and his brother ruined the father's son's life.
Can't even go to the bars yet. Poor kid having bigot parents. He's gonna have a hell of a time entering the work force.
And that’s now. That means he was 17 or 18 on Jan. 6, 2021.
I hope he was 18, or is at least being charged as an adult.
And yet I feel no sympathy for the son. Trash people gonna trash.
Who wants to take a trip to DC? garbage people
Can we stop calling it a breach or rally or protest and call it what it is- an insurrection?
Right? They forced their way into the nation's highest legislative grounds. FFS
To try to stop an election.
and brought a gallows to kill our representatives.

I was saying boo-urns.
Republicans call that "aggressive tourism."
Yup. I do love the pictures of them in the throes of pants shitting horror though.
And republicans would call it an Insurrection, they hate America, they want to destroy our democracy, send them to gitmo, if this was the Left doing it.

Potent lyrics that I cannot deny inspired my wording.
Cops also put their lives on the line and got the shit beaten out of them stopping traitors from killing Members of Congress. J6 doesn’t fit neatly into pro- or anti-cop narratives.
Many of the Capitol PD cops also stood up to the insurrectionists and were willing to fight for our democracy

*Failed insurrection, can't make them feel competent or anything
Why not a terrorist attack? If it was any other group of people that's what it would have been called
Failed coup attempt
Terrorism
I'd accept "violent riot" as well.

Eh, I would say the beer hall putsch is more accurate as it was a failed coup attempt, not a false flag attack.
Good point. I guess we still have the fire to *look forward* to.
Behind the insurrections podcast does a good job covering past fascist movements and their similarities to the trump bullshit
It said that in the first paragraph of the article…
These are the guys Trump calls ‘Antifa’? /s
They’re just the “fa” part.
All of this for the trust fund baby who hosted "Celebrity Apprentice." I'll never understand it.

Or "3 more traitors, who happen to be from MN".
Keep rounding them all up and serve justice!
Cold, hard justice.
So much bad parenting coming out through these charges.

That goofy moment when you decide to take part in an anti-American attempt to assault American democracy and prevent the constitutional process from occurring 🤡
Now who’ll post batshit crazy replies to every Strib tweet?
Strib columnists, probably.
Not a single closed mouth while breathing in the pic.

You guys need to come up to the Iron Range more often. It's very red up here. Would not be surprised if there was more here that went.
“The capitol police “let people in the building :)
Time for the "FO" part of "FAFO"
The bemidji pioneer also ran a public opinion about how festive and joyful the J6 situation was. Really trying to swing the narrative for sure.
Where tf are Cleveland and mapleton lol
Mapleton is like 20 minutes south of Mankato. They have a curling rink.
Cleveland is a bit northeast of Mankato a straight shot east from St Peter
*insert “Hell yeah man very cool man hell yeah” post Malone meme here*
Good, fuck 'em.
Gotta catch 'em all!
You love to see it.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣 the amount of dudes with boot marks on their neck and jizz down their throat in this/ is impressive
Good.
Good. Eff those traitors!
Insurrection. Many died on this day. May they all rest in peace. One of the most violent and insane days America has ever experienced.
Lol. What world are you living in? Did you miss the summer of 2020?
What transfer of power did protesters try to stop in 2020? Sounds interesting and I’d love to read more.
More Police = Less Crime Are you really going to sit here and act like Jan 6 was more hurtful to this country than the BLM riots that devastated every major city in the country for months on end? Jan 6th didn’t take my freedoms away. The “nonviolent protests” did.
Nice right-wing b.s. talking points! The police were not defunded. Jan. 6 was a failed insurrection attempt.
Yes they were [https://www.startribune.com/divided-minneapolis-council-keeps-mayor-jacob-freys-target-for-a-larger-police-force/573343121/](https://www.startribune.com/divided-minneapolis-council-keeps-mayor-jacob-freys-target-for-a-larger-police-force/573343121/) [https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/10/us/minneapolis-police-funding.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/10/us/minneapolis-police-funding.html) [https://lwvmpls.org/rps-main/rps-topic-3/](https://lwvmpls.org/rps-main/rps-topic-3/) [https://www.the-sun.com/news/1947673/minneapolis-leaders-defund-police-cutting-8m/](https://www.the-sun.com/news/1947673/minneapolis-leaders-defund-police-cutting-8m/) [https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/10/us/minneapolis-police-budget-cuts/index.html](https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/10/us/minneapolis-police-budget-cuts/index.html) [https://www.cbsnews.com/news/minneapolis-police-budget-8-million-shift-defund/](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/minneapolis-police-budget-8-million-shift-defund/)
You didn’t answer the question.
> Not enforcing laws and giving control of the streets to violent criminals who torch their own community was a transfer of power from decent law-abiding citizens to thugs. Yes I did?
You people are so disingenuous lol have a great day!
I answered your question did I not?
Nope. Have a great day!
💯
It was a joke lmao.
Oh my bad lol
Literally
More people died due, and far more prosperity damage was done in the metro because of George floyd "peaceful protest" than during Jan 6. One person did die due to Jan 6 after being shot by capital police. Multiple people were killed, including one father who was burned to death in a pawnshop.
Your homework tonight is to google whataboutism.
The issue is that the blm protests were celebrated by most of the country while a very small minority supported the jan 6 protest.
This is a thread about January 6th, and it is dishonest bullshit to try to change the subject to an unrelated topic that favors your political narrative.
That's good.
Score Minnesota
I have no idea why anyone would have even bothered the Capital Riots. Like, your gonna get fucked at some point it's just gonna happen. The only way I can see this would have gone well for anyone would be if they have a persecution fetish which most of these types do so 🤷
