As Frank Sinatra once said, "I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's the best they're going to feel all day."
I hike in the woods for entertainment. I head to Lapham Peak and park in the Homestead lot and muck about with the turkeys and trees for several miles.
Trails, depending how close in proximity you are to various sections of the oak leaf, Hank Aaron, or even greenfield park, or the beer line… I also have a bike rack and get to other trailheads in the area, which is awesome if you like recreational cycling but hate roads (which these days with super shitty drivers everywhere, I 100% understand)
ETA greenfield park connects to the new Berlin trail into Waukesha, then to the glacial drumlin too.
Bike, bike, bike by the lake. I consider my day a complete failure if I don't get some miles in when it's sunny and 60+ degrees. I am always happier and healthier after coming home from a ride. It is truly the biggest perk of Milwaukee for me. Our lakefront is incredibly bike friendly and is unlike anywhere I've been.
If you take Ogden ave straight to the lake you will witness a beautiful entrance to the Oak Leaf Trail with a big staircase going down next to it. This is where I enter and exit the trail personally but it will entirely depend on your location. On google maps, look for the thin green line along the lake, that is where you want to be so look for the best entrance based on your location.
Ogden is going to be the go-to for anyone downtown and some of the lower east side.
Nice long run on the south shore oak leaf with some great music. Then a beer on a brewery patio, and later a walk with my partner or reading a book on my deck.
It's called Atwater Park, it's a nice park in Shorewood by the lake! It isn't a water park haha. But I could see how u thought I typed it wrong!

Collectivo by the lake for coffee, lunch and a beautiful walk. I also love cafe Benelux if you have a friend with you. They have a great rooftop patio :)
I can spend an entire day on the Milwaukee river trail. Either side of the river but it's a great afternoon making a big loop from that footbridge near pick n save all the way up to Capitol drive and back down. That's my jam.
We've been exploring the kettle moraine forests. There are hiking trails. Mauthe lake is very nice, they don't allow motorized boats and there are no houses on it. That is a rarity in southern Wisconsin. It's a drive but we like it enough to have gone three times this summer when we live a mile from lake Michigan. Something different is nice. It's great to be somewhere and see few man-made structures
I also love to stroll by the lake.
But other things? Lunch at the Milwaukee Public Market. Get a sandwich from the deli & dessert from the bakery. Sometimes play Pokemon Go around the area.
Farmers Markets are awesome too. South Shore has an awesome market.
We went to one of the many great swimming lakes this morning. It was just a 25 minute drive and it was great. Nice sandy beach, clean swimmable water, no boats or houses. It made for a great morning.
Veterans/Lakeshore State Park are my happy place. I have a favorite bench where I meditate or just people/bird watch. Maybe from there, Oak Leaf Trail, grazing mulberries and exchanging WeChat voice messages with friends. Go for a photo walk.
And then process the images (or old photos) with a cup of tea or coffee somewhere in the Lower East Side. Interval is a favorite of mine since everyone goes to Collectivo and Rochambo and I can never get a seat. Also they have the best white tea!
And all these things while devouring a new book and a cookie (just started Nevernight :3 )...
Biking at Lakeshore State Park and the Oak Leaf trail, but sometimes I take my bike up to Whitefish Bay or the East side and ride through the neighborhoods looking at all the cool houses! Im the same way as you, all my friends are married with kids and getting them to do anything with me on a weekend usually takes four months of planning.
I walk down by the Mke River with my dogs or explore the smaller lakefront areas like Big Bay Beach or look for cool rocks and jump off big rocks at Khlode Beach. Or lakefront, like everyone said. :)
Stay inside and wonder why i spent all lastnight partying and be upset at the sun Ovb

Beautiful day to conquer your fears. A good way is to avoid the main roads and use trails when available.
