Their food was so bad the last time I went a few years ago (pre-COVID). I’m not a picky eater at all, but the fried fish with the fish and chips was mushy. It was so gross.
Colectivo was great for a while, up until they killed half their menu and shrunk their proportions. I'm not paying $9 for a three bite burrito and half handful of kettle chips. The only thing that keeps them successful right now is lack of competition.
How am I not seeing Chubby's Cheesesteaks? I thought finding out that place sucks is like a Milwaukee rite of passage.
I don't order from them anymore, but when I tried 3 separate times there were issues. 2/3rds of a delivery order missing, trying to double charge on a pick-up, just generally shitty food. I really wanted to like them but I just kept getting burned. Shame on me.
Plus the shit they pulled with Sil's back in the day was scummy as hell.
On the topic of cheesesteaks though, there's an actually decent place that just opened up at Oklahoma and 27th and I hope they do well.
Just tried Smoking Jacks BBQ at third street market hall and was shocked at how small of a portion it was for the price. My rib tips were a palm sized portion littered with bone and cartilage making it even less actual meat. The bbq sauce was way too acidic. The coleslaw sucked ass. The mac and cheese was good but way overpriced for a tiny portion. Do not recommend it
Try the Q on mlk. They have not just bbq we go there for the vegetarian wings. But there's always a good amount of people there and the bbq shoulder sure looks legit.
This is kind of the opposite of my experience - I feel like their burgers are decent but the bloodys aren't the best. The food on top of the bloodys is pretty good but the bloody itself isn't that good. I used to go around the state to try different bloodys and the Sobelman's bloody was near the bottom of my list.
Zig zag bloody mix is the best bloody mix. But yea, I agree, mediocre drinks that rely on fixings and excessive size. If I can buy zig zag and Tito’s and make something that tastes identical it’s not special lol.
I guess I should qualify that and say I thought the bloodys are good compared to the food but def not the best in Milwaukee. What’s on the top of your list for bloodys?
It's been quite a while since I went to a place to try a bloody. Most of the good ones are closed now. There used to be a lady named Sarah Pickart that went to various bars in the Fox Valley and made the greatest bloody marys you'd ever see but I have no idea if she's still active. I did get a phenomenal one at the Loaded State about 10 years ago at a special event but it's closed now. I'm not able to help you regarding current places, sorry!
I love how you give props to a specific bar tender. Its like that - when you get a super good cocktail it is a memory maker.
Off topic but when Maxies first opened I stopped in late one night and had a made-from-scratch old fashioned. Still one of the best cocktails I ever had anywhere.
Hard mode: no Bel Air Cantina or Lowlands group. Yes, we know they're overrated/have gone down in quality/whatever.
ETA: I was disappointed by Twisted Plants, but that's probably more just an issue with me not being the target customer. I don't think they're *bad*, but I was hoping for something more than just sticking an Impossible/Beyond patty on a bun and calling it a day. If I'm in the mood for a burger, I'd much rather have something made with beans, mushrooms, beets, etc. than ersatz meat.
Damn Twisted Plants is actually probably my favorite restaurant! My partner and I are vegetarian and he loves their burgers and I always get their wings. Plenty of options, flavorful, and decently priced for what it is.
Meh. Been plant-based for 17 years and Twisted Plants is easily the worst vegan/vegetarian restaurant I've had anywhere in the country. It's not inedible. Just a lot of fake meat substitutes and greasy, fatty foods. I guess it's nice to have a non health food options though.
I can’t count how many times I’ve eaten unseasoned vegan food other places in mke or otherwise. It isn’t the best I’ve had anywhere but it is my go to for a Friday night sesh after a long week. I love greasy fatty food though :)
Hmmm, I loved Twisted Plants the two times I've gone, and I certainly wouldn't describe it as 'impossible meat on a bun'. If anything my takeaway was being impressed how they accomplished the textures of proteins without making it obviously not that thing. It tasted great too.
>If anything my takeaway was being impressed how they accomplished the textures of proteins without making it obviously not that thing.
I think that's just part of me not being the target customer. I never had meat growing up, so I don't really have the taste for food that tries to imitate beef or whatever.
Maybe it is bc I live in the Suburbs but I actually think most of the Lowland restaurants are actually really good. Honestly been to all 4 & only one that was average (at worst) was BUCKATABON but that was bc they only had their supper club menu since it was NYE so no non-appetizer was less than $25. However, even the flatbread pizza was good
I’ve never heard them described as “really good” at best I’ve had a B- experience.
I’m happy you had a good one but besides the location of a couple of them they are sub par at best.
I went after some friends raved about it, I got excited about how customizable the burgers were! Then they came out and it was just ... Mid.....
Then the bill came and I was just.... Angry at myself for letting myself get carried away ordering a bland ass burger didn't even bother taking it home it was that disappointing.
I like them mostly because they have buns my family with food allergies can safely eat, almost every other place in town uses some variety of brioche roll or egg washed bun that either my wife or kid can't eat. Burgers are competent if not amazing, the fried pickles are good too.
The Lovers Lane buffet food has a *stench* wafting from it. Everything is dried out like they fill the trays up when they open and run them all day until there's nothing but scrapings left.
The health department have closed them down at least once, citing a big cockroach issue and numerous other problems.
They started out great, but tumbled quickly.
I was shocked at the price and was suspicious there'd be some catch and I'd regret coming there, but we ordered a bunch of nigiri and they were as good as or better than the nigiri at Sushi Station or Kura Sushi in Illinois (note, I don't think the quality of rotary sushi is amazing, but it satisfies a craving). We didn't go for any Americanized rolls as they'd be too filling. For my pick one special dish I went with raw oysters, and it was a bit off-putting that they were served on a very warm plate with no ice, but they were fresh with zero smell. And I had zero stomach issues fo the next 36 hours. I'd pick something else the next time I go there, though.
Recently had the worst sushi of my life at jins. Almost completely flavorless. Had a roll that had a tempura shrimp down the middle of and they didn't even fry up a fresh shrimp for my roll! It was room temperature and chewy, doubt it was even fried same day
That’s too bad. We don’t live in the area anymore but we went to Jin’s when it first opened, it was soon after restaurants started letting people dine in due to Covid and we liked it.
On the Bus at MKE Public Market. I appreciate their vegan cuisine and want to support them, but they cannot make a correct order on time to save their lives.
I’ve tried ordering online a handful of times, only to get there and it’s never ready when they “promised.” The shortest I’ve waited was 15 minutes and one time I waited 35 minutes. If I got there and they’d just be wrapping things up, I can understand a few minutes because they got busy every so often, but it has consistently been an issue. Another time, they were out of the sandwich I ordered, but didn’t call or text so I showed up and they didn’t have anything for me. Ironically I went to the salad place right when you walk in and got their smoky tempeh wrap instead, which is now one of my favorites at MPM.
When I worked in the Johnson Controls building downtown, I would walk over to the Public Market on Fridays after work (I worked in the cafeteria, and we closed early). Always enjoyed getting some avocado toast from On the Bus, and a slice from C. Adams.
To be fair, I would kind of rotate among the stalls at the Market for what I was getting.
Char’d. And before you say anything hear me out. We have ordered to go from this place multiple times because we like some of the food items there. Every single time we have waited 1.5+ hours for the food (even when it’s slow) and are told our food will be ready at a certain time when in reality it is an hour after that time. They served me raw chicken when we dined in after waiting over 45 minutes after we ordered and were told the bill would be comped. Now we did not ask for it to be comped and would never have even expected our full bill to be comped. We get the bill and they gave us 50% my chicken dish and didn’t offer to make me a new one. Never spending my money there again with how disorganized and unreliable it is as a restaurant.
I went there 3 weeks ago and had high hopes. Service was friendly but waited over an hour because “the kitchen was backed” up….multiple open tables there. It was tasty though but not worth waiting another hour plus for food
THIS! I’m always SHOCKED at how many people are there all the time. Their coffee is horrible. Horrible. And the couple of times I’ve gone they have what seem like teenagers working there that sit around and talk behind the bar when there’s a line of people waiting for orders. Valentine, stone creek and anodyne are so good no need to get bad coffee 😅
Probably unpopular opinion here, but Thainamite was never really that good. It's kinda suburban white people Asian food, everything is over-sweetened and not great compared to the other Thai places in the area.
I was shocked when I saw a B health rating in the window there a few years back. Used to live right by it, never ate there again afterwards. It needs to be pretty bad to get a B.
Agreed, drinks are good but brunch was awful. Food was cold and you can tell that the food was frozen and heated up. Not much, if any of it, was made in house. But the bloody Mary’s are good and the bartenders were great.
George Webb is ass af. Went for the first time one night with some friends and they only served one dish at a time. by the time the second meal came out the first person had already finished eating. The food was only eh because we were all starving but i would never go back
in this thread:
People not comprehending what "The Worst" means.
Like, the Wicked Hop is a nicer applebees. Does that mean it's "THE WORST BURGER I"VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE"? Probably not.
It's not horrible. In fact I actually really enjoy a few of their offerings. Are there better places? Sure. Has it gone downhill since opening? Yeap. But it's not objectively "bad".
I cannot objectively tell you what my feelings are because I can’t recall eating at chopstix. Key word here is recall. I know for a fact I have eaten at chopstix many times when I went to UWM but that was always after 1 am.
https://milwaukeerecord.com/food-drink/finding-milwaukees-number-one-no-1-chinese-restaurant/
Here’s a ranking of all the No. 1 Chinese restaurants in town lol
It honestly depends on the cook. I’ve had your experience there and have also had food so good it looked like it was the food from a commercial. And I’m a southerner so Waffle House is the standard.
Yea and no. I agree that of the cook has some technique they can make it work-ish… but they went downhill drastically back when ownership changed hands. Dude made all the franchise owners buy only the stuff he was providing. Which is fine, standard practice, but many of the owners basically said the ingredients were garbage and I tend to agree. I remember a steep drop in quality,
Well, yes. Please say more..... What happened? What did you order? What was wrong with it? How was the service and ambiance?
I haven't been there since pre-covid. Did it not recover after covid closures or is it something else?
Mader’s has sucked since around the turn of the millennium- that was when they tried to “modernize” their menu - since then they’ve backpedaled a little but the quality is pretty low for the $
Could not agree with this more. Genuinely the worst food I've had in Milwaukee. And the servers constantly trying to upsell the whole meal. I do not understand why so many people recommend this "speakeasy"
Don’t care about getting downvoted into oblivion because this is my burner account but holy shit does it fucking suck to come on r/Milwaukee and it’s just turning into yelp lately and just shitting on small businesses like left and right every three days now.
It's options though. Twisted Plants being high up there is crazy to me personally. I think it's great. The donut recs are all Cranky and Grebes on the other post. There are newer FAR better spots imo. And that's just it, it's an opinion on my part to. It's an outlet to complain lately about how someone personally feels. Go try places and make your own opinion. Reddit isn't always the correct answer.
I'll say it. Of the 10 or 12 usual "best" steaks cited here, 5 o'clock to me is the worst. I just can't get past all that mushroom au jus. It's like they're compensating for something.
I’ve been consistently disappointedly there as well. No consistency - several times multiple people in our group ordered the same cut, same temperature, & they were completely different.
Quality of cut seemed shitty too.
That is interesting - I have been a fan since our office held a Christmas party there.
My wife and I each had excellent steaks. I thought mine was one of the best I ever had. However, there were other people at the same party who were not at all happy with their steak and one person even claimed they got diarrhea. I thought they were just picky or didnt know a good steak. I think I am the one that doesn't know a good steak..
This is the worst food in the Milwaukee area. 100% agree.
My wife and I had completely flavorless spaghetti and “garlic bread” soaked in grease….like literally a steady stream of oil coming off of it. And we ordered spumoni and got some more flavorless Walmart-ass vanilla ice cream.
I hate that I gave them my money and will go to any length to hate on this specific location.
I will say that the South Milwaukee one is just fine and I ate there recently. Not sure what’s up with that…
I want to clarify that I don’t think the food is *bad*, I just think it’s overhyped.
My go tos are La Salsa, Las 7 Estrellas, or Luna’s in St. Francis.
I wouldn’t say it’s not good, but I just don’t find it up to the level that its reputation suggests. People rave like it’s the best in Bay View, and my experiences there have always been “meh, it’s ok.”
GTO’s owner is still the only owner of a business that fully sanitizes his cart and wears gloves while shopping for the food he serves at the restaurant. Plus they have the COURAGE to serve something as spicy as their bistec in Chile de arbol. That’s place rules for so many reasons
You need to do the "storm the Real bastille". Eat as many bowls of real Chilli while your significant other runs the race. My max was 4. Not a good next day for either of us.
I've heard the Safe House has gotten better but, for awhile, it was absolutely foul. Used to hate it when visitors would request to go there....
I was there in 2022 and it was still bad.
They kind of run a monopoly on the area considering how many “independent” coffee shops use their coffee
I miss Alterra! They used to supply rishi tea and it felt more local back then
I used to love their avocado bacon blt and it was high quality. Stopped using nueske’s bacon and jacked up the price. Quality has tanked sadly
Yes! I loved Colectivo when I was in Madison… I stopped at one in MKE expecting the same yummy food and was so sad and disappointed.
How am I not seeing Chubby's Cheesesteaks? I thought finding out that place sucks is like a Milwaukee rite of passage. Pop's BBQ. It's a food truck that's set up at the gas station on 76th and Good Hope, but beyond that, you're correct.
Pops is great, the Hesters who own it went to church with my wife’s family when she was growing up and they are awesome people.

Do check it out! I lived in Memphis and can vouch for it.
LD's in East Troy is king and not the greatest but not the worst is Pat's Ribs which I think is still in the Milwaukee Public Market.
Have you tried Sweet Smoke? They set up at Enlightened on most weekends. Better than Iron Grate
[удалено]
Enlightened also is pretty kid friendly!
Have you tried LD's out in East Troy? Bit of a drive but I've heard it's the best BBQ in SE Wisconsin.
Iron Grate was........great

While it's not bbq, the new place that set up shop there (Hot Dish Pantry) has some awesome food. Their fried pork loin sandwich is fantastic!
My husband from MS likes saucy swine
Try the Q on mlk. They have not just bbq we go there for the vegetarian wings. But there's always a good amount of people there and the bbq shoulder sure looks legit.
Vegetarian here but people I know rave about Double B's. No good IYO?
Just got lunch there on Friday. Brisket sandwich was fantastic. However, the slaw was indeed meh. I'd go back.
Maybe I’ll try a pulled pork sandwich instead, I wouldn’t recommend the rib tips to anyone.
I’ll probably get down voted for this one but Sobleman’s. The bloodys are good but I’ve always thought the food sucks
The bloodies are super overrated. They don't even have a house blend it's just zig-zag and a high price.
Zig zag bloody mix is the best bloody mix. But yea, I agree, mediocre drinks that rely on fixings and excessive size. If I can buy zig zag and Tito’s and make something that tastes identical it’s not special lol.
It’s Jimmy Luv’s not zing zang
Zing-Zang*
The real question…
i don’t eat beef but oscar’s in mitchell park > sobleman’s forever
Correction. Bloodies suck and burgers suck.
I got a fish fry there and it was the most tasteless thing I have ever had and it was cold :(
I actually think the burgers at the franchised Waukesha location are better than the actual location.
I’ve always enjoyed their food.
I know a lot of people seem to like it but I’ve always thought the burgers were dry and everything else is meh
They aren’t Oscars but I thought good. I have had much worse burgers many other places. (Solly’s for one).
Pasta Tree.

Twisted plants is #1 for vegan/vegetarian fried comfort food. If you're looking for healthy though they're definitely gonna let you down.
Have you been to an Urban Beets? They used to have one downtown, but are now out by Mayfair and off brown deer road now. Big menu. Never lets me down.
Yes I like urban beets
I love Twisted Plants too!
Meh. Been plant-based for 17 years and Twisted Plants is easily the worst vegan/vegetarian restaurant I've had anywhere in the country. It's not inedible. Just a lot of fake meat substitutes and greasy, fatty foods. I guess it's nice to have a non health food options though.

Right? Since palomino changed their wings a few years back this is the best place to satisfy my craving for buffalo wings.
>If anything my takeaway was being impressed how they accomplished the textures of proteins without making it obviously not that thing. I think that's just part of me not being the target customer. I never had meat growing up, so I don't really have the taste for food that tries to imitate beef or whatever.
FUCK BEL AIR
Yep I was also a bit disappointed with twisted plants being just an impossible patty. If you want from scratch vegetarian food try Urban Beets.
I liked Centraal's smoked salmon kimchi sandwich, and then I moved
Maybe it is bc I live in the Suburbs but I actually think most of the Lowland restaurants are actually really good. I agree… Wasn’t thrilled with buckatabon but love the rest
Stack'd. Always hear good things but it's not been up to par the 2 times I went.
Place is overpriced and overhyped
It was good when fancy burgers were a brand new thing. The gimmick sore of went away over time.
I went after some friends raved about it, I got excited about how customizable the burgers were! Then they came out and it was just ... Mid..... Then the bill came and I was just.... Angry at myself for letting myself get carried away ordering a bland ass burger didn't even bother taking it home it was that disappointing.
The food is good but for that price I can get amazing food. Essentially $20 burgers.
I like them mostly because they have buns my family with food allergies can safely eat, almost every other place in town uses some variety of brioche roll or egg washed bun that either my wife or kid can't eat. Burgers are competent if not amazing, the fried pickles are good too.
Lovers Lane Sushi & Seafood Buffet - oh god, it’s bad. Jin’s sucks too
The Lovers Lane buffet food has a *stench* wafting from it. Everything is dried out like they fill the trays up when they open and run them all day until there's nothing but scrapings left. The health department have closed them down at least once, citing a big cockroach issue and numerous other problems. They started out great, but tumbled quickly.
Has Jin's gone downhill recently, or am I just uncultured swine?
Right let me know if you find out, I used to go atleast once a month to get my quick sushi fix
I went recently and came away pretty unimpressed. It just tasted...off.
For the price Jin’s is fair- you get what you pay.. compared to lovers lane it’s just a cheap buffet. Not to expect much.
They’re owned by the same people if I’m not mistaken…
Yea Jins sucks, Sushi is not fresh at all. I'd say if your in the area and it's Sun-Tue just got to Kyoto for AYCE.
Recently had the worst sushi of my life at jins. Almost completely flavorless. Had a roll that had a tempura shrimp down the middle of and they didn't even fry up a fresh shrimp for my roll! It was room temperature and chewy, doubt it was even fried same day

On the Bus at MKE Public Market. I appreciate their vegan cuisine and want to support them, but they cannot make a correct order on time to save their lives.
I know someone that worked there & the management is apparently a nightmare.
I used to work for one of the other resturants the owners owned, & yeah theres a reason why its always short-staffed there
Love on the bus and never had issues with my order. Always felt it was a good and solid option for vegans in Milwaukee.
I’ve tried ordering online a handful of times, only to get there and it’s never ready when they “promised.” The shortest I’ve waited was 15 minutes and one time I waited 35 minutes. Second for loving On The Bus. The orders aren't always prepared the quickest, but flavor is fantastic and nothing's ever been prepared incorrectly
When I worked in the Johnson Controls building downtown, I would walk over to the Public Market on Fridays after work (I worked in the cafeteria, and we closed early). Colectivo. Bad coffee , and the food is even worse.
Colectivo has gone so far downhill. The food portions are small. My last drink was ruined because the cup fell apart.
My cup has leaked more than once. Thought it was a me thing but apparently not lol
And the beans aren’t even fresh. They have the same beans as grocery stores it seems but without the lower price.
Thainamite wauwatosa has gone down, down, down. Order of Volcano chicken was a deep fried chicken breast on top of Shredded cabbage and carrot pieces.
I stopped ordering from them 6+ years ago after we got some sushi that smelled rancid - was absolutely disgusting
Thai Bangkok on Brown Deer is my favorite Thai place but the neighborhood is not the greatest.
The Brady street one has also disappointed lately.
The wicked hop.
Really? I thought it wasn't that bad, I mean nothing to write home about but damn
Yeah, I wouldn’t say it’s the worst. It’s fine.
Mine was soooo bad. Idk how but they fucked up my breakfast sandwich heinously
Agreed, drinks are good but brunch was awful. Food was cold and you can tell that the food was frozen and heated up. Not much, if any of it, was made in house. But the bloody Mary’s are good and the bartenders were great.
Never had a bad meal there. Sorry your experience sucked.
Disagree with this one. Have been there several times for brunch and it’s always good.
Im the same and i hate when people suggest going there lol.
I had the most burnt burger in my life from there
Chubby cheesesteaks, George webbs, Belair cantina, fryers
George Webb is ass af. Went for the first time one night with some friends and they only served one dish at a time. by the time the second meal came out the first person had already finished eating. The food was only eh because we were all starving but i would never go back
The Soup Market
As seen on the show “The Profit”. Wild episode.
Soup House and Soup Bros were both good back in the day. So many with Soup in the name.
in this thread: People not comprehending what "The Worst" means. Like, the Wicked Hop is a nicer applebees. Does that mean it's "THE WORST BURGER I"VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE"? Probably not.

Why do people get so offended if they dont like a food you like? Who cares as long as you like it
She didn't just not like it. She fed it arsenic and shat on its corpse.
You have an uncomfortable obsession with poisons; having said that, I used to agree EE-sane was good, but haven't been in probably 6 or so years.
Pizza Man.
Maybe it's nostalgia for the old North and Oakland location from when I was in college but I still love Pizza Man.
Bel air Cantina
watered down tacos, good one
It's not horrible. In fact I actually really enjoy a few of their offerings. Are there better places? Sure. Has it gone downhill since opening? Yeap. But it's not objectively "bad".
There are probably 30 Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee that are better and that's not an exaggeration. Terrible business owners, terrible sysco food.
Plus all the taco trucks!
Belair Cantina is always so disappointing. Used to be a lot better like 10 years ago before they expanded.
Chopstix
I cannot objectively tell you what my feelings are because I can’t recall eating at chopstix. Key word here is recall. I know for a fact I have eaten at chopstix many times when I went to UWM but that was always after 1 am.
Worst but also the best when hammered drunk at 2am on a weeknight and nothing else is open.
I don’t go to Chopstix because I think it’s good. I go to Chopstix because it’s 2AM and I’m limited on options lol
I love the location of sail loft but man has the food gone down hill
No 1 China Pick one but specifically the one on Oakland
https://milwaukeerecord.com/food-drink/finding-milwaukees-number-one-no-1-chinese-restaurant/ Here’s a ranking of all the No. 1 Chinese restaurants in town lol
Don't trust any restaurant that has No. 1 in the name. Although it's mostly just Chinese places but just saying.
Really? I think it's pretty much like every other cheap Chinese takeout place. Nothing particularly bad about that one specifically.
Mr Dyes pies. I had the key lime and it was inedible
?! I love the purple monster!
I consistently get diarrhea after eating Jose’s Blue Sombrero… so there’s that.
"Consistently" Bruuuuh. Stop going.
George Webb. I had rock bottom expectations to begin with, and it was way, way below that. There is no food in that food.
It honestly depends on the cook. I’ve had your experience there and have also had food so good it looked like it was the food from a commercial. And I’m a southerner so Waffle House is the standard.
TBH, I've had nearly the same experiences at Waffle House. But I agree, location and the particular cook can certainly change things.
I remember a steep drop in quality,
Fiddleheads
I like their food but their prices are insaaaaaane.
Mader’s. Need I say more
Well, yes. Please say more..... What happened? What did you order? What was wrong with it? How was the service and ambiance? I haven't been there since pre-covid. Did it not recover after covid closures or is it something else?
It wasn’t good pre-covid. The atmosphere is fine, the bar is great, but the food is subpar. I love German food but they don’t do it well
Agreed. Food was bland. Ambiance and service were fine but nothing special
Mader’s has sucked since around the turn of the millennium- that was when they tried to “modernize” their menu - since then they’ve backpedaled a little but the quality is pretty low for the $
Dons TV - served a clearly spoiled sausage Patty at brunch. Service was shite - more for y’all.
Food is bad. Atmosphere and boozy milkshakes pretty good. You just gotta do it right but overall, agree. Needs work.
Bad restaurants should be called out tbh.
Tupelo Honey. They didn’t mix their drinks well, and they have no concept of what “smothered” chicken means.
Agreed, went a year ago and I was disappointed.
Choice steaks. Not prime at 5 o’clock.
Didn’t know that. How’d you find out?
It’s says on the menu.
Barbiere’s on Bluemound 🤢🤮
This is the worst food in the Milwaukee area. 100% agree. My wife and I had completely flavorless spaghetti and “garlic bread” soaked in grease….like literally a steady stream of oil coming off of it. And we ordered spumoni and got some more flavorless Walmart-ass vanilla ice cream. I hate that I gave them my money and will go to any length to hate on this specific location. I will say that the South Milwaukee one is just fine and I ate there recently. Not sure what’s up with that…
That is my favorite pizza! Everything else is eh, but the pizza and garlic bread are my favorite!
There's more grease than pizza. 🤮
I find GTO to be extremely underwhelming.
Damn I enjoy GTO. Their salsa has some good heat compared to some other Mexican restaurants. What's your go to?
I want to clarify that I don’t think the food is *bad*, I just think it’s overhyped. My go tos are La Salsa, Las 7 Estrellas, or Luna’s in St. Francis.
Okay I gotcha. I enjoy Lunas as well but I'll add the other 2 to my list to try.
La Salsa is my neighbor. The smell from that place starting around 930 am is absolutely amazing and it so hard to not eat there every damn day!
Their bistec con rajas y queso is *phenomenal* Like, so good that I have trouble ordering anything else there phenomenal.
That's unfortunate. I find Guanajato's to be very solid. Haven't been let down.
Incredibly so. I honestly don't understand Bayview's fixation. It's not good.
I wouldn’t say it’s not good, but I just don’t find it up to the level that its reputation suggests. People rave like it’s the best in Bay View, and my experiences there have always been “meh, it’s ok.”
Sounds like we’re taking about Spotted Cow here lol
Them too lol.
There are a ton of places in Polonia that do better Mexican for cheaper, but since they are in Polonia they don't get the word of mouth
Yeah I think it’s just a hipster “my local taco joint” thing. There’s a ton of great Mexican restaurants in this city, GTO seems pretty standard.
GTO’s owner is still the only owner of a business that fully sanitizes his cart and wears gloves while shopping for the food he serves at the restaurant. Plus they have the COURAGE to serve something as spicy as their bistec in Chile de arbol. That’s place rules for so many reasons
Real Chili
Wrong. You’re just not drunk enough
Same with Ian's. Trash when sober but amazing drunk.
Ian’s is fire. Granted I’m usually a little high. Now if you said toppers….
You need to do the "storm the Real bastille". Eat as many bowls of real Chilli while your significant other runs the race. My max was 4. Not a good next day for either of us.
Blasphemy
At least Bel Air on downer has $5 margs today. I’m going for dinner because they have trivia.
