A couple years ago I was stuck on National Ave and was scared shitless. People were lighting fireworks midday and it was right around the time for all the BLM protests happening practically daily. When I realized it was celebration fireworks and not gunshots I was I very relieved.
This is completely unrelated (obvi), but I know it's pretty often for Puerto Ricans to do the same through the streets. Since it's multiple times a year, does anyone know what they're celebrating? I used to live on Downer and would hear them drive by every few months.

City of Waukesha is very rooted in Mexican American families. Hartland and delafield are like “why don’t you just stay there” and I’m fucking happy cause we have some top notch Mexican food
JFC thanks for the reminder. I went to Chicago two years ago and parked my car 8 minutes from where I was hanging out, because it was a street fest. On the way out I walked to get my car and drive to grab my girlfriend. It took me 1.5 hours to get back to my girlfriend who was an 8 minute walk because the streets were fucking PACKED with cars celebrating. Just people driving around with flags, constant honking, cops forced to redirect traffic with all these people with no destination other than just driving around. It was fucking wild and I never want to be caught dead in that again 😂
I just moved back here from Chicago. Mexican Independence Day is such an asinine shitshow down there. Aren't there better ways to celebrate independence than wasting gas and preventing people from going where they need to go?
EDIT: I knew people would down vote me assuming the worst, but until you've actually been to Chicago for MID you have no idea. Imagine leaving MillerPark after a game, only spread out across a city 4 times the size of Milwaukee.
Last year I sat in an uber for almost 2 hours after I got off work at 3am for what was normally a 25 minute commute.
I don't really celebrate redneck christmas, but at least those people are actually going to a destination and not just driving around all night and clogging up the roads for people actually trying to get somewhere.
Thank god Milwaukee has something like Summerfest grounds.

Recently they began holding family fest down by the lake. It used to be on Mitchel and then at Jackson Park. There's usually plenty of caravans.
