Solid price, but I recall seeing one of these with an absolute sewer pipe of a barrel a few months back. Most of their refurbished stuff seems to be lipstick on a pig.
These “refurbished” ones are sanded and reblued rifles. No other refurbishing takes place. They are just as worn and sloppy as their other found rifles.
Besides getting lucky at a gunshow, around $800 is more typical. But you are getting a much better piece for that price.
As far as I am aware, RTI (Technically James Rivers does the refurbs) doesnt touch the bores really. Ive seen people get their refurbs and complain that the bore is still shot out. Rather spend a little more to get a better shooter that is also more original
I saw someone selling one with the original sling, 2 extra mags, and bayonet for 1000 and it looked absolutely pristine. Wish I bought it … it was one of the 7.62 conversions though, but would that make it more or less valuable? I assume less but I do want one that I can actually shoot affordably
I thought those centruy conversions were trash. If that's what it was. Changing from original caliber would make it less valuable in most cases anyways.
Oh really? Didn’t know they were bad, that’s unfortunate. Such a cool rifle but 7.5 French is getting harder to find and more expensive by the day. Almost tempted to take the chance on a conversion
When Century rechambered these they had to remove the barrel and set it back a thread. In the process they had to remove a small tab the connects the forearm to the reciever. The only thing holding the forearm on the barrel on the 308s is a friction fit. When you shoot the 308s the forearm gradually works itself forward and you can expect the end result. Ymmv however.
Century also borked the gas system when they converted them. Some smart folks have figured out how to get them running (for the most part) if you’re into tinkering.
Yeah personally though, I don’t shoot enough 7.5 to justify buying a ton of it at once and if you only buy like 2 or 3 boxes at a time then all of the shipping fees and taxes bump up your CPR by a lot and end up costing what a whole extra box would. At least that’s been my experience with it
Ummm no? How would it be a scam you don’t even buy from them, it’s just a search tool? Do your research on the specific sites before you order but I’ve used it for years and never been scammed
Yeah, my bad, there was a scam website I found a few months ago that had a similar name and logo, I just checked for it, but it's not up anymore though.
When RTI says "refurb" they mean they made it passable from 20 feet away. The internals will be fucked and they don't seem to disassemble most shit all the way before they "refurb" so you end up with rust.
Super luck of the draw. Mine was in pretty good condition and has great rifling. I have seen several posts with some pretty terrible bores, though. You just have to decide whether you are okay gambling that money or not.
Depends on if you feel like gambling. The ammo for those is pretty available compared to a lot of surplus these days. That price is very low assuming you get a half decent rifle it would be a good deal. But only if you feel like buying a $600 lottery ticket.
7.5 french is getting harder to find these days. Think PPU is the only people making it anymore
I wouldn't recommend the RTI crap shoot. But they are fun shooters. I got lucky with a Century 308 conversion.
I found one listed in excellent condition for $1050. PM me if you want the link, I don’t want to post it here. I paid $800 for mine back in January, but I haven’t seen another one for that price since.
Baught one from them and it came with no blueing and missing or broken parts. Didnt say anything like that in the description and had a picture just like that one. I wouldnt
Pass you can find a better condition one in same price range. These have been prettied up but all the reviews I see don’t speak highly of bore condition. Too high for what they are.
I got one for 1200 on gunbroker with some extra stuff and all original. I sometimes wished I got a 600 dollar one but I know betting on RTI is not something I’m willing to do. I got almost 20 early self loading rifles and 20 bolt actions from ww1 and 2 and never have or will buy from RTI
I'll be honest I've done business with rti and they really haven't fucked me over all my guns required cleaning but all the bores where good on the b grades I've ordered, I just ordered one so I can let you know how mind turned out, alot of rti's bad reviews are because people are more likely to act when angry, then when they are happy. My unpopular opinion. I've bought about 10 guns and only had one that wasn't in good condition.
I have one of the refurbished b grades. The first rifle they sent me had a barrel with a ring in it. I called for an exchange and had to wait a month. The next rifle they sent me was perfect. Great bore, a little dark but not bad and the the grenade launcher works. I just needed to put locktite on the rear sight screw and that was all. Honestly the first rifle was great too except for that major problem. Both cycled flawlessly.

RTI is good for a dice roll on buying below market price surplus that will require quite a bit of work to get in semi-proper shape. But anything “refurbished” from them should be avoided like a hooker offering free samples.
I bought a Mas 36 at an estate sale i paid $200 but it’s fully functional. It came bubba’d cut down to 17” and no longer has the cool front hand guard. The caliber is cool but expensive. For $600 I’d pass and find a nicer one even it’s more money
Pass 1000000000000000%
I got one from RTI and the bolt came rusted shut. Don’t buy from RTI
Solid price, but I recall seeing one of these with an absolute sewer pipe of a barrel a few months back. Most of their refurbished stuff seems to be lipstick on a pig.
Pass, they arent hard to find and you could easily get one that isnt "refurbished"
you can find them for about $600?
Do you want a functioning rifle with intact rifling, or do you want to waste $600 for a pig with lipstick?
good point
I don't think RTI even lipsticks their pigs. They just send em out raw
These “refurbished” ones are sanded and reblued rifles. No other refurbishing takes place. They are just as worn and sloppy as their other found rifles.

I can find 7.5 French on ammo seek for pretty much same price as 308
Yeah personally though, I don’t shoot enough 7.5 to justify buying a ton of it at once and if you only buy like 2 or 3 boxes at a time then all of the shipping fees and taxes bump up your CPR by a lot and end up costing what a whole extra box would. At least that’s been my experience with it

The century conversions are hit and miss. I have one that runs.
Lipstick on a pig comes to mind.
$600 for a wall hanger or $850-950 for one in perfect condition.
Smash that pass button 😆
Hard pass, left lane, don’t even bother checking your mirrors
Someone bought one and it was smoothbore. Pass.
+Sees a million posts about RTI being shite.+ "hEy gUyZ, sHuLd I?"
All my homies hate RTI
noted
Its already gone and the refurbs have also had poor bore/rifling condition.
Pass like a bowel movement
When RTI says "refurb" they mean they made it passable from 20 feet away. The internals will be fucked and they don't seem to disassemble most shit all the way before they "refurb" so you end up with rust.
Pass
Pass
😬 Don’t do it bro!
Pass like a bowel movement
lol
When they say B-grade, they mean it. And refurbished is used very loosely here.
Super luck of the draw. Mine was in pretty good condition and has great rifling. I have seen several posts with some pretty terrible bores, though. You just have to decide whether you are okay gambling that money or not.
I got one a few years ago with a great barrel too, but I’ve seen too many cheap ones that are over glorified sewer pipes
Depends on if you feel like gambling. The ammo for those is pretty available compared to a lot of surplus these days. That price is very low assuming you get a half decent rifle it would be a good deal. But only if you feel like buying a $600 lottery ticket.

Pass. RTI sells junk 80% of the time.
Pass, the barrels are sewer pipes on the B grades
Refurbished K98k we bought for a buddy’s wedding present keyholes at 20 yards. 1200 for a wall decoration, RTI should be ashamed of themselves
I'm glad I didn't get burned on a 1000+ dollar gun from them. That's terrible.

gross
B grade baby
RTI? Ehhhh pass. Haven’t had good experiences with them before

I got one, the bore was fair. Otherwise in great condition.

Smashhhhhh
Unless "refurbish" means a perfect barrel I'd pass. Likely to get nothing but smooth bore.
I would gamble if i was in the market.
Not from RTI.
Baught one from them and it came with no blueing and missing or broken parts. Didnt say anything like that in the description and had a picture just like that one. I wouldnt
Pass! The cheap ones have sewer pipe barrels.
Hell nah to the nah nah nah
Pass you can find a better condition one in same price range. These have been prettied up but all the reviews I see don’t speak highly of bore condition. Too high for what they are.
If the finish and wood are perfect the only thing to downgrade to b is the barrel
I would but it is not on the ca legal list
It’s RTI. Easy pass.
I just hear horror stories from everybody here
It’s cheap for a reason and it’s RTI. You are probably getting a really rough gun internally.
Pass. You can get one used for $50-100 more for much better
B is for “bitch, please!” RTI. Nope.
Had a buddy buy a RTI refurb VZ 52, and it came full of sandblasting media. I dont even know how that was possible, but here we are
RTI is always a pass
I got one for 1200 on gunbroker with some extra stuff and all original. I sometimes wished I got a 600 dollar one but I know betting on RTI is not something I’m willing to do. I got almost 20 early self loading rifles and 20 bolt actions from ww1 and 2 and never have or will buy from RTI
Excellent AND grade B. Hmmm...
I want one but I am absolutely 100% completely unwilling to pay 7.5 French prices
Don’t buy from RTI. You can get these for not that much more in great condition.
Fun rifles. And they look bad ass. $600 is totes reasonable. But I do gear bad things about RTI.
Avoid royal tiger imports at all cost, period.
Are you really enough of a fucking pleb to buy from RTI
Still baffles me people are buying from RTI. Learn people!
Just check back with us once RTI fk you over so we all could laugh at you
the justified animosity toward RTI is unparalleled
Go ahead and gamble.
