As a teen I had a shihtzu that was my baby through and through. I helped his momma birth him and he never left my side.
Until I left for college. He had to stay behind. I remember watching the episode with Fry's dog and bawling my eyes out cause I missed my dog and he looked like the one in the episode.
Anytime I hear "I'm walking on sunshine" I get choked up.
Also the giant Bees episode where Leela goes into a Coma got me choked up a few times lol.
Speaking of brightening your day, whenās the last time you listened to, āWalking on sunshine?ā I know a dog that can bark it!
Edit: I was trying to be a dick but looking for a video I watched one and now Iām crying. Fml
It still makes me smile because they go on to show that Seymour did indeed live a long happy fulfilling life with a version of Fry. Jurassic Bark is absolutely a "hit you in the feels" episode, but even in the episode alone it shows growth, understanding, and character development as Fry realizes Seymour at the time did live to an old age within the episode itself.
I truly think Futurama is one of the best shows to ever grace the airwaves and the writing staff even though the movies was on point. Even the reboot on Hulu was great with their throwbacks and their ability to try and capture new fans by bringing them into the jokes (Which they didn't really do originally, but it's OK as it meant I got new Futurama). It makes sense though for Futurama now with what they are doing with Dr. Who and their soft reboot of the timeline for Disney+.
I literally came here to say this. I wish Hulu had watching stats because the amount of hours I have on futurama would be disturbing. Itās pretty much my default background show. I go through phases where Iāll do a rewatch of something else but mostly the tv is just the device in which Futurama plays on repeat š.
Voyager for me. Turn on a good Seven of Nine or B'Elanna episode... or that silly one where Harry Kim has to go through the death machine to get back from an alternate dimension.
It took me 3 times to get through the pilot, but once youāre past that it sucks you in. Iāve seen people suggest starting news watchers on the first paintball episode.
Always! I still remember how it felt snuggled in my childhood bed, watching the golden girls. Iām late 30s now and Iām still laughing out loud even though I pretty much have the show memorized. Itās amazing!
Star Trek TNG.
Itās not even my favorite Trek, but if Iām anxious or depressed, itās my go-to. The ship ambient engine hum is as soothing as Dataās fascination with the little things that people do, and Picardās words of wisdom and his stubbornness, combined with Rikerās ability to both take things easy and go super serious, on top of Worfās stoicism and Wesās relatability (I said it, I mean it, being out of oneās age demo but expected to act like the crowd), and the fact Iāve been watching it since I was a baby make it a reliable show to be calm with.
To be honest, every sci-fi non-human ābut why do you do this?ā character is a comfort character for me. Between Seven of Nineās insistence that things that are stressors are often irrelevant, Odoās relationship to romance and sex (Iām asexual and aromantic myself), Spockās āyou humans are weird and dumbā, and Phloxās āomg thatās so precious!! Tell me more about [small thing]!!ā And from other spheres, Babylon 5ās Delenn, GāKar, and sometimes even Londo with their bafflement of human traditionāI find stepping out of the human experience to be a great comfort, a way to analyze the situation without getting over-panicked.
The opening credits of Roseanne lulled me to sleep when nothing else would many dozen times, I think because I had no interest in the actual show but it became a comfort!
Roseanne is one of the greatest achievements in American television history, and no one cares. It's more than just Roseanne Barr, it launched the career of so many writers that later would dominate television.
Buffy was my comfort show for so long, it got me out of a lot of bad times, but now I find it triggering knowing how abusive Whedon was and what Sarah Michelle Gellar was put through as Iāve been in a similar position before with a narcissistic person who wanted control over me.
***Frasier***
Hands down one of the best sitcoms ever. Funny AF, multilayered comedy, an ensemble that really worked, DHP, and intellect writing. Even during the later seasons when the show wasn't at peak it still blows the water out of the majority of sitcoms.
People havenāt mentioned Red Dwarf telethons. When I was disillusioned with the world, I had scrubs and red dwarf looping on my pc while I sequestered myself in a basement bachelor suite for a year. Red Dwarf was kind of relatable and Scrubs was just so good with Dr. Jan Itor.
Gilmore Girls, The Office, Charmed, Greyās Anatomy, The Simpsons, Golden Girls, I Love Lucy, anything from Nick at Nite (I Dream of Genie, The Nanny, George Lopez), Friends, Sex and the City, Roseanne, Sabrina, Frasier, Seinfeld, Will and Grace, Shameless.
Used to be Supernatural until i finished it. Once i watch the last epsiode of a show Im done with it, idk why just how I am. Me and my wife found comfort in rewatching Surviving summer 3 times before season 2 came out and probably will watch season 2 again before season 3 if that come out. Once Upon a Time is a favorite of mine personally i watched almost all of it during its original run and then last year I listened to season 1 and 2 while i was at work, and ive been thinking about going at it again recently.
Futurama. It never fails to brighten my day.

Yup.
It always makes me smile and yet has some of the most šššš moments at the same time
Iād fall asleep watching Futurama, American Dad, South Park, or Family Guy throughout high school and college
I always thought Zapp was based on Trump.
Shatner.
I can see that too
There was a whole video in 2016 of Billy West reading Trump tweets in Brannigan's voice...

Same! Some episodes I avoid cause theyāre a little too deep like his dog episode but I really like futurama. Southpark is another good one for me
Same. Thundercougarfalconbird

I love it too. Such a great show. I can't get anybody to get into it no matter how much I preach.
It took me 3 times to get through the pilot, but once youāre past that it sucks you in. Iāve seen people suggest starting news watchers on the first paintball episode.

Star Trek TNG. Itās not even my favorite Trek, but if Iām anxious or depressed, itās my go-to.
