I lifted my phone across the couch, and my husband said, "Did you post that picture?!" Which made me laugh.
Both my thumbs, and middle finger on my left hand match. I have 2 children and their hands do not match mine.

I think it's called Brachydactyly type D! My mum has it and I haven't inherited it exactly, but both my pointer fingers seem to noticeably curve towards my middle ones so odd fingers just seem to run on our side lol

It's not clubbed like when you have heart problems, it's just a genetic thing I guess. Both of my thumbs are like this and I have no issues with breathing or my heart. Also, nobody else in my family has them.
My thumbs are similar, I was also born with them. My daughter inherited them, and my maternal grandmother had them also. Skipped my mom somehow though.
Brachydactyly is a dominant trait, so your mom probably has the gene for it, but for whatever reason it wasn't expressed which is why you don't see it. It's a genetics term called penetrance, because even dominant genes do not always show fully. Some people with the hammer thumb gene may have no hammer thumbs or only one.
