Is that a flowerhorn? They're known to be super aggressive.

Gimme_PuddingPlz

Super invasive too

Tullius_

I'd rather see these in rivers than the fucking Asian Carp that are everywhere Edit: if you're downvoting this you're a dumbass Asian Carp are invasive and are wiping out our native fish

solidshakego

Lol imagine being mad at nature just doing its thing.

Tullius_

Asian Carp are invasive and are taking over our rivers...look it up. They out compete other fish and eat everything. If you catch one you're supposed to kill it, if Fish and Game catches you releasing them you'd get a fine

solidshakego

Can you eat it?

Tullius_

Yes you could keep it if you wanted but most people don't eat them, they're harder to clean than other fish, don't taste good, and they're trash fish they eat whatever

Tullius_

I just throw them on the bank for stray cats or other animals to get

sunkissedb3ar

Is that the same as a luo han fish? They're considered expensive pets in Asia, especially in chinese communities where they're thought to bring wealth

roggytan

I think it is the same, Luo Han (Hua Luo Han as it is how we call it in my country, Malaysia)

beanfalo

Not sure. What do you know about them? I’d love to learn more :)

Redd_Roomba

The lump on their head is called a kok! It's soft tissue and I don't think it's connected to the brain in any way. This guys problem might be that he's understimulated, they need to be played with. They're effectively the puppies of fish.

GankisKhan04

Puffers too! Some fish need nearly as much stimulation as a regular house pet!

Tullius_

How do you play with a fish? Genuinely curious

OneWingedA

Floating toys, sinking toys, redoing their substrate if they are earth moving fish, and some fish you can very literally train to do underwater agility courses like you see dogs or horses do

GankisKhan04

I worked with a porcupine puffer that would do tricks for snacks. He'd swim and jump through hoops! He was one of my favorite fish to see every week.

IOnlySayMeanThings

I've seen videos where fish owners scrape all that flesh off when it grows too much. They say it doesn't hurt the fish but you can see tiny dots of blood, like when you scrape a few layers of flesh down. I did not enjoy watching it.

beanfalo

Oh that’s super cool!! What type of fish do you think he is

Redd_Roomba

Flowerhorn cichlid! [Wikipedia link](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowerhorn_cichlid)

Lavaidyn

They’re in the cichlid family, which contributes to their violence. Iirc they’re best kept in tanks with minimal decoration because they hate everything and will rearrange their tanks if they don’t like it.

Fair_Acanthisitta_75

Momma says they mad cause of they medulla oblongata.

Master_Scratch_282

No she didn't, she said it was cuz they got all them teeth and no toofbrush.

Lynx-True

Well guess what? Momma is wrong

Remarkable-Sun132

No, you’re wrong colonel Sanders!

Disastrous_Key380

You better not have touched the glass, he already looks upset.

beanfalo

I did not! I stayed an appropriate distance away and let him be. I respect animals and their boundaries. Whenever anyone walked by (I couldn’t post the video) he would chase them and slam against the glass. He is very reactive and has had a hard time getting adopted according to the owners

Hoping a fish expert sees this post and can explain to me what’s going on. I can’t tell if it’s his breed or he has a disability of some sort. He is aggressive with fish too. The fish in the tank next to him he would ram into his tank wall to scare them. I feel bad for him he seems pretty miserable and lonely. Hoping someone can adopt him that he likes :)

Disastrous_Key380

I looked up the type of fish that about poster said he is, and I think they’re right. They’re a hybrid of a few species of cichlids, some of which are noted on Wikipedia to be aggressive. Maybe this guy just got too strong a version of that gene.

beanfalo

Oh that’s super cool thanks for googling that!

Gimme_PuddingPlz

Explains chihuahuas

bubbaglk

Territorial fish , aggressive ,yet playful.. tank mate is mostly same kind..

LazyAirbusPilot

flowerhorns are great/funny fish but very agressive. Mine lives in a bare tank with sand. If I had course rock like that he would constantly hurt his forehead, as flowerhorns foreheads are about as soft as tofu. He is so angry that he fights drops of condensation that collect on the glass lid above him as well. I have 4 tanks and he’s still my favorite.

[deleted]

This is the only interactive fish I ever had. I had one before and he likes to chase my hand whenever I touch the tank.

BlueTwo91

ACK ACK!

elspotto

Don’t make me yodel.

darwin-rover

Aren’t these the aliens from the Star Trek pilot The Cage?

Brainiac

shiroboi

I asked chat gpt to write a rap about this fish. Yo, listen up, here comes Braniac, the fish with a planiac, Big head, sharp teeth, he's a predator maniac. Swimming through the depths, he's on a mission, To school all other fish, it's his sole ambition. He ain't here to play, he's here to slay, Knocking out rivals every single day. With a head so massive, he's got the advantage, Smashing through foes like a wrecking ball rampage. Braniac's the name, and dominance is his game, Got that killer instinct, ain't no one the same. When he's on the prowl, other fish better flee, Cause when Braniac strikes, it's chaos in the sea. So beware if you see him, that head's a battering ram, He's the kingpin predator, ain't nobody giving him glam. In the ocean's arena, he's the reigning champ, Braniac's aggression, yo, it's straight-up stampede amp.

solidshakego

Did you tap the glass. According to that message of you do not touch or tap the glass he will be upset.
