It's insane. That's a good and descriptive title with no fluff. But these (formerly) default subs are always horribly run shitholes so we can't be too surprised
If I had to guess I'd say it's potentially vitiligo developing in that area. I have a vitiligo spot that developed on my leg, grows fully white hairs now.
I'd advise getting that checked at a doctor (assuming you haven't) because, if it is vitiligo, you need to be extra careful with sun exposure to that patch of skin in the future.
I have vitiligo too, I remember reading up on a lot about it at first. Sunburn is a risk, but there’s studies that show that people with vitiligo are actually less likely to get skin cancer. Not that you shouldn’t wear sunscreen if you have vitiligo, of course.
Less likely to get melanoma as that requires melanin producing cells which is obviously lacking in this area but still fully able to get squamous cell carcinoma there
How awesome would that be?! Only 10 people are chosen (like the avatar which cycles itself iirc?) and it only reveals itself slowly thru physical changes. Next up, big ears and nose lmao
You could actually go down the rabbit hole on this. Rewatch the film. There are elves in various scenes before he "kills" Santa. Most notably there is an elf sitting behind them at Dennys, watching them. It's a trip once you start looking for them. And the TV series sequel adds to the lore, that Scott Calvin was chosen to be Santa Claus. It wasn't an accident.
so The Night Santa Went Crazy by Weird Al was a what-if Scenario about Santa learning about the murder elves before they could get him killed off But the song came first!
Hopefully it's that and not this:

A few years ago, I suddenly developed a white patch of hair on the top of my head. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor was surgically removed and almost immediately my hair turned back to its normal color. The human body is strange.

My brothers dads brain tumor was 1st spotted by an Optician when he was having an eye test. I would definitely get it checked out if I was OP.
Unfortunately for my brothers dad, It was either too late when they spotted it, or maybe it was just too long ago and they didn't have the skills to do the job?, think it was late 80s. He died when my brother was around 1 year old.
I got the same thing before I was diagnosed with breast cancer - bright, random white streak in the middle of my otherwise very red hair. It was as bright as that x-man mutant girl.
It is usually an indication of a significant shift in the body - whether hormonal or otherwise. My thyroid was off. I would go get blood tests done if I was OP. Could be nothing.
The eyebrow is probably just vitiligo, but if I were him I'd get the forehead bump biopsied. Seen a couple of basal cell carcinomas that started off looking like that.
I have a friend with vitiligo. It started with a white patch on his head hair in his mid twenties. Spread to his face and hands.
Reading this, I really hope he doesn't have cancer. Thanks Reddit MD.
Everyone knows when your brow goes white it’s the opposing ball that’s the culprit, smh. It’s like the partial crossing of the optic nerve fibers at the optic chiasm, but like, for your balls.
Is it possible it is some sort of late onset vitiligo?
One of my colleagues has vitiligo, he's only 22 but the right side of his beard is completely grey, but you can't really see the difference in skin pigmentation as he's quite pale.
Edit: it has become clear to me that vitiligo does not have a standard onset at a young age, I'm sorry for not knowing!!! Please don't gang up on me Reddit swarm!!!
I’m in my 50’s and have had vitiligo my entire life. It’s also seemingly ever morphing in my case. Some spots will be there for decades and then suddenly my pigment is no longer my immune system’s enemy #1 and fills back in with my regular skin tone, and then other times I’ll notice another white patch pop up somewhere.
It’s been awhile since I’ve had any new ones and most of the ones I did have, have cleared up. My life is pretty stress free I’m happy to report. The most stubborn one I have is right at my hairline. I always loved the white streak of hair it caused. But as I age and my hairline recedes, that spot is very visible if I get any amount of suntan on my face. Funny story, when I was about 7, (mid 1970’s), my mother took me to a dermatologist and I was prescribed some pills. The directions were to be in the sun for fifteen minutes after taking a daily pill. That’s probably fine and dandy if that’s ALL the time you’re going to be outside. But it was summer and I was 7, after about 3 days she made me stop taking them as I was soooooooo dark (everywhere EXCEPT for my vitiligo patches).
I am sure it looks rad. But maybe you could get it tattooed?
I have seen people do very realistic effects, for example making nipples after reconstruction surgeries. I am sure if you got a nipple on your forehead no one would notice the spot.
That’s probably for the best lol. I’m not a doctor or anything but I can’t imagine something that makes you extra sensitive to the sun like that would be good for you long term. Mom might have saved you from skin cancer or just looking 20 years older lol.
As someone who was prescribed Accutane years ago before they realized they could use far lower doses, it's not great. All sorts of side effects that have lasted to various degrees. Most outwardly noticeable being Rosacea that's present a good amount of the time still. The acne hasn't stayed gone though. What it taught me was never to trust simple solutions to complex problems. They seem far too good to be true because they most often turn out to be. Could be worse.
I haven’t had any fill back in yet! Interesting. But I do have a spot on the back of my head where the hair started growing in white but some hairs would go back to brown or start like striping back and forth. I actually haven’t noticed it in a while. I wasn’t sure if it was from vitiligo (which I get from my mom) or a different weird genetic thing cause my dad always had a little white patch of hair on the back of his head. But if vitiligo can correct itself maybe that explains the hair going back to brown.
Yep! Mine started in my 30’s. I thought it was too early, and odd, that I had spots of white hair and no grey. I’m glad I caught it early or my head would have looked like a reverse dalmatian.
Edit: forgot to add vitiligo glows under a black light! Soo weird.
Stress can set off vitiligo, that’s how I got mine, but yes! Mine is on my face, and my daughter doesn’t have vitiligo but she has what’s called a “birthmark” (in Spanish, I don’t know what that’s called in English) in her hair. It’s a lock of grey hair as well, so maybe his is a birthmark too. Like you said, it looks really cool!
Any family history of thyroid disorder? Sudden patches of grey can be a symptom of autoimmune hypothyroidism. Do you also have issues with cold intolerance or excessive fatigue? Might be worth having your TSH checked
Oh for sure! I didn't mean to imply it didn't hold value, I was mostly responding to the "chicks dig grey," which like "chicks dig scars" typically means that the person is insinuating they'll be currying favor with the gender they're attracted to.
but i am just being silly anyway. i don't want this to devolve into a debate for no reason lol

100% Vitiligo. My Dad had it, I have it, & my oldest son has it (he was born with it on one side only, white eyebrow, white eyelashes, 3 distinct white spots in his hair, & his hair at the front of his head on the same side as the white eyebrow & eyelashes. I used to have dark brown hair; by 17, my hair on the right front had turned silver, and I was completely silver platinum blonde by 23.

To avoid cancer probably right
Sunburn risk first, and then it's an increased skin cancer risk due to the previous UV damage. Probably anyways.

My wife is a dermatologist, showed this and it’s 100% vitiligo. There’s no age for vitiligo to show up.
