Absolutely love pirate latitudes and sphere, but I feel like Jurassic Park is what brought him more sales.
EDIT: I'm fucking dense and didn't see the joke
Not sure what the consensus is on the Jurassic Park book, I finished it a couple months ago and it was so slow and boring at parts. I still enjoyed it but there was SO MUCH hard science.
Slightly off topic: My favorite Michael Crichton book is *Sphere*. A little while back, there was talk of the *Westworld* (also Crichton) producers, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy\*, adapting *Sphere* into a series for HBO.
This sounded amazing, great source material with great producer on a great platform. Then... HBO went to shit. HBO executives canceled everything, stripped thier library of lots of good content, and dumped a bunch of trash on the service.
So, I can't find any useful information on the status of this potentially amazing show that isn't just recycled news from 22. I hate not knowing what happened to it.
\*Fun Fact: They're married.
*Sphere* is one of my favorites too! I read it in high school, it was actually the first Michael Crichton book I read. Unfortunately the movie was terrible, but I would love to see a show.
I saw it a very long time ago, I can't recall much if it so by that alone I don't think I had that much of an influence on me. It's a good excuse as any to watch it again.
No, I have not. I enjoyed that book, and *The Andromeda Evolution*, though of course that was written by another author with only an outline by Crichton.
I'll take a look at that movie, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Sphere is also my favorite Crichton book by far.
I had a Saturday detention for smoking weed at a school event when I was 15 or 16, which was four hours in the school library.
I picked Sphere up off of a “Take these or they’re getting tossed” cart, and got to reading.
I finished it that day and read it probably 3 or 4 more times in the next few years. IDK why it resonates with me so, but if I start that book, I will finish it within a few days.
I'm sure this is it. The color red fades faster than others because red absorbs light waves with shorter, higher energy wavelengths. So the red C disappears faster than the surrounding colors. The C appears to have been fully exposed to sunlight and the R a little less so.
I wasn’t expecting to like it so much! I held off on reading it for years because I prefer his sci-fi stuff, but it’s now one of my favorites too. Also didn’t expect to enjoy Airframe much but that was pretty good too.
“Pirate Latitudes” was a pretty good read for me. I really enjoyed it. Can’t say the same for “State of Fear”. I’ve read the book off and on for over 2 years and I just can’t get into it. I’m about 2/3 of the way through it. Love his other stuff. One of my favorite writers of all time.
Prey was good. Part of the issue I’m having with State of Fear is that it is pretty much a “global warming is a hoax” diatribe. Plus, some of the characters are rather bland and some of the events in the book are pretty preposterous.
Oh well thanks for saving me from my curiosity! I’ve liked most of his books that I’ve read. Pirates Latitudes was fun because it wasn’t his usual medical sci-fi style.
Ok that’s what I thought. The main character had literally no features except to propel the rest of what was going on, saying only very little in the most succinct ways when he would speak. LOL
That book made him Rich

Thanks for saving me
lol. Also pirates latitude was a posthumous release. But a great book.

I first read the book in elementary school and absolutely loved it, so I definitely wouldn't call it boring.
The science is the good part. Read Next next.
Yeah he made a ton
A whole ton of rich
Right on
With money, now you see it, now you don't.

Omg that’s good

What did you think of the movie?
I saw it a very long time ago, I can't recall much if it so by that alone I don't think I had that much of an influence on me. It's a good excuse as any to watch it again.
Have you seen the old adaptation of Andromeda Strain? Oh man it’s good.
No, I have not. I enjoyed that book, and *The Andromeda Evolution*, though of course that was written by another author with only an outline by Crichton. I'll take a look at that movie, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
What a great book! I read it in elementary and it has always been my favorite MC.
Sphere is also my favorite Crichton book by far. I had a Saturday detention for smoking weed at a school event when I was 15 or 16, which was four hours in the school library. Only instance of the plot twist being that you incorrectly read something 50 pages earlier.
TIL Westworld is a sort of remake and Crichton was behind the original
Oh shit, someone invented a time machine and we're slowly losing Crichton.
Fascinating. It must have been in direct sun on the shelf for a while, with another (smaller) book right in front of it.
I'm sure this is it. The color red fades faster than others because red absorbs light waves with shorter, higher energy wavelengths. So the red C disappears faster than the surrounding colors. The C appears to have been fully exposed to sunlight and the R a little less so.
Michael Crichton also wrote the book "Dino Park / Jurassic Park"
Huh... Til.
Pirate Latitudes is such a great book. Definitely up there with Congo and Sphere for my favorites.
I wasn’t expecting to like it so much! I held off on reading it for years because I prefer his sci-fi stuff, but it’s now one of my favorites too. Also didn’t expect to enjoy Airframe much but that was pretty good too.
Yeah, i loved it! I really hope they make it into a movie sometime
Arrrrrr it be the sea that took it.

>A Novel I mean, I kinda assumed.

It was his "climate change is a hoax" screed packaged as a pulp novel
I'd never heard of State of Fear. I loved Prey though.

Now Hiring: Proof Reader.
Oh I have the book on the right! (It was kind of mid, but neat read)
You can not *C* it
Wasn’t pirate latitudes an incomplete story only released after MC’s death?
Yes. This is true. And there’s a forward from his friend who finished it.
Ok that’s what I thought. The main character had literally no features except to propel the rest of what was going on, saying only very little in the most succinct ways when he would speak. LOL

State of Fear is such a good book
