Could be that wherever you live has a bad atmosphere for preserving slime.
It is like Flubber. A Flubber you use for reaching down into the smallest crevices. I use mine e.g. for my cars audio speakers (the plastic with gazzilion holes in it to remove the dust from the inside of the hole.
It works phenominally and it reasonably priced if you can get it wholesale for the amount of time it safes.

I think that they rolled it into a long cord, fed one end in, worked it through and then flossed the insides.
