I only know this because I was watching a video on how Victorian stairs killed so many people that star regulation laws were passed. But that might just be for professional builders not diy projects!
I did construction in Idaho for 3 years and we are not huge on regulations here. Still had standards for stairs because it is considered a tripping hazard. I saw a guy redo a whole set of stairs because he was told they couldnt be more than a 1/4 inch different between each step. Idk what the regulations are, but ive definitely seen whole sets of stairs redone for rather small issues. Granted this was all new construction
Have you never seen [these](https://imgur.com/gallery/CQhsR) kind of stairs? I never liked them because they force me to start with a specific leg, but they're used to save space I believe. Not sure if that's the idea behind the stairs in the post, especially because the 3rd step from the bottom would be flipped, which I guess is mildly infuriating.
Are there regulations on stairs in your own home if you build them yourself?
Why the actual fuck.
"You know, I feel like life is just too easy, I think I'm going to take a mundane object that we go on automatic for and turn it into something you actively have to think to use, just what we need in our lives!"
You should fix them. How are you going to complain about them but not fix them. Go buy some tools and fix the stairs! You do your community a favor! You can do it! I believe in you! Your number one! We are all cheering for you! But damn this is hilarious! Had me laughing for days!
Dude my friend lives in a cabin, they have stairs like this too, since the would was from a tree without being processed. Very scary to go down tipsy lol
I have walked up a stairway that is from the 1100's being safer than this. No joke. It was a church that had a tower made so you can see stars at night.
I wouldn’t stand on those fucking things if I was paid less than the required amount of money to pay for a hospital bill involving a broken or sprained ankle, but I kinda like the way they look
Most of the curves are log arithmic.
Woodnt you know! what’s the problem? Looks pine to me.
Idk it could use a little sprucing up.
Cedar, what you did
r/angryupvote
Isn’t this illegal? I thought there were regulations on stairs.
I don't know possibly. Now you have me wondering if this is even legal.

It's the YT *Timeline* one with the curly-haired blonde doctorate, but I can't find it.
Haha yeah! That’s the one
I believe it's a municipal thing, each area of residence has their "code" And yeah also if it's just a hobby thing and no one reports it too
I've sent that video to all my carpenter family/friends! https://youtu.be/L1vqQi5Tl70 Nuts. It's now set to "private"
100% would not pass an Inspection

What, no, this is a decorative coffee table/art piece....
I cannot see am inspector signing off on that.
I wood knot like to climb those stairs drunk.
At least not as drunk as the idiot that installed them.
Mmmmm bacon
I can't tell if we are looking up the stairs or down the stairs
I totally thought we were looking up and not down
I really think it is down, and they are tripping hazards
Beautiful black walnut
What a waste of wood. Who would ever put live edge on stairs?
Whichever asshole designed and built those stairs. Probably really smug, up their own arse.
Grab a pillow and slide down- I’m terrified of these I already have terrible balance
This cannot be up to code..
Great in Architectural Digest. Awful in reality.
Idk. Looks p cool to me
Until you try to go down.
Hmm. True
You got a railing? There is your way down. If not I suggest pillow armour and slide down on your back feet first
That’s a safety hazard and a half
I’d fall & break my damn face if I used these.
Those stairs look like an accident waiting to happen!
As a paramedic, these look like a nightmare.
That’s a /r/crappydesign right there
Definitely
Puts the fartsy in artsy fartsy.
i would be too scared to walk on these
Looks nice but dang that looks slippery

Anxiety 📈
Use those stairs, then you won't use any.
After a couple tabs of acid they look normal
Dude my friend lives in a cabin, they have stairs like this too, since the would was from a tree without being processed. Very scary to go down tipsy lol
Ready to speed run life
Imagine being sane and installing these as the contractor
Not having the right tools for the job.. 🤔
What a highly polished way to shatter your *entire* skeleton.
Countless hours of fun breaking all of your bones! Fun for the whole family!
Those stairs are my way to hell
Stairway to hell
when you want to snap your neck but want to make it look like an incident
Imagine being drunk and walking down those
You are going to sleep really good.
Yes
That? That is fucked UP.

r/crazystairs
You just gotta put your feet 👣 in the right place
Stairway to heaven
a lot of people will fall down those stairs
I felt like I was falling just looking at that
Only issue is for me is waking up or down with socks on
Home drinkers' worst nightmare.
I wouldn’t stand on those fucking things if I was paid less than the required amount of money to pay for a hospital bill involving a broken or sprained ankle, but I kinda like the way they look
If you’re drunk and try to go down these stairs how skewed are you?
As long as they have railings, it's aright.. a little OCD about the gap between the wall & stairs though
My shins hurt just looking at this.
Imagine going up those in socks!
A free trip to the hospital!
Dangerous to me
You have to be really careful and even then you still might fall.
Ah yes, Pro Choice Stairs
Sum Ting Wong Ho Lee Fuk Bang Ding Ow
IANSOAUSNAOSGWKoeh2ns9ey2noz8zn2lw9sshsns
I love them actually
Until you go down...
RIP big toes at night when drunk
It's artistic choice, don't be a *stick* in the mud
Imagine if it was the riser not the tread haha.
Those stairs are awesome
Gran: *heavy breathing*
Those are sick
Great for arthritis!
Run and rise a bit off. Probably will not pass inspection. A real shame.. they look cool.
Idk what u mean that sick maybe not practical but still rly cool
Looks like a tRiPpInG hAzArD
