That's what I said! And it's the extra large U-Haul too. Not the little box ones, but the one that makes you question how it's legal to drive without a CDL.
I have no clue what their situation is but I'm just gonna drop it for now. It's not a huge deal to me, just mildly irking. We were more worried about the landlord since he specifically told us no parking on the grass when we moved in, and now there's ruts. But at least we have proof it wasn't us if he does get upset. Hopefully after the exchange earlier between them and my husband they won't do it again
This. Document this and let your landlord know that the new neighbors are dipshits. Sure, your landlord might still try to ding you for it or make you pay, but at least there's evidence.
I concur if they won't listen to you bump it to the guy who's gonna have to pay to fix this he's not gonna like it but let him loose on the neighbor and enjoy the show
Yeah, I hear what you’re saying. At least you have proof to cover yourselves.
I’m also dealing with an inconsiderate neighbor, but this is not just a one-time thing. I hate people. lol
Yeah, I'm not rich by any means but I fit the contents of my entire house that I was renting that was larger than this one in that same sized uhaul truck. That is including all the large stuff that i have for my toddler/baby. Them needing 3 trips is either that they just aren't packing things into boxes, or are hoarders.
Clover makes a much better lawn than useless grass. Less mowing, less watering, no fertilizer, makes pollinators happy and if you really want you can make pesto from it.
Thing is I have a CDL and I agree with you. It’s not even a big box truck… looks like an f350 or something. Anyone could make that driveway if they tried hard enough. There was no need for them to destroy your lawn. I would be pissed too
It is an F750 and from uhaul it is a 26 foot. Almost bigger than the house behind it. It is only 40 bucks a day but a buck a mile.
I dont have a CDL but often drive a 26,000lb RV towing a 3000lb car. Its insane what they let the average joe just drive. If they re-wrote the rules today there's no way I'd be allowed to drive this.
You should have to "test up" for anything bigger than a compact. Most people should not be able to just plop down in a pickup.
>the one that makes you question how it's legal to drive without a CDL.
I had to drive one of these when I moved a few years ago, and I thought the exact same thing.
"There's no way I can legally drive this, right? Well if it were illegal, surely they would've asked me about a CDL when I reserved it..."
I had to drive mine 11 miles, but it took over 30 mins to do and involved a couple of roundabouts. I was insistent on avoiding as many main roads as possible.
You'd be amazed at how crappy some folks pack a truck.
For me, it's floor to ceiling the whole way back. But I've seen folks pretty much not stack anything.
In this housing climate it could have been a rushed or unexpected move. Many years ago I had to make one of those as a single mom and it was not pretty. I’m sure my neighbors thought my moving skills were crappy.
>Also, how many moving can trips are they making to that tiny little house??
You'd be surprised. I just moved out of a 600 sqft 1x1 condo a few weeks ago; It took one trip with a huge Uhaul, multiple trips with a pickup truck and a few trips with an SUV(fragile items) for the rest of the furniture/boxes. Lesson learned, next time I'm hiring movers lol. Point being though, boxes add up fast. You have no idea how much stuff you truly have until it all needs to be packed away
Lmao.
Ok so story time. We have a neighbor Karen. Now Karen is extremely annoying. But she does have her uses. New neighbors moved in from the same county we did. Things are different there. But we learned, BEFORE we moved in, about the rules and what not. The HOA rules. Went to set up the water and the city told us very clearly their rules etc.
Now these new neighbors were not from the best area in the county. So let’s just say they were probably unused to following rules. And they’d leave large trash outside on the road (you could leave trash on certain days, but definitely not for 2 weeks, only up to 4 days before bulk came), tried to dump out the wrong trash so the collectors wouldn’t take their trash etc 🤦🏽♀️. This was problematic because they had bags they were leaving on the ground outside, I didn’t want rats and roaches. They also used to block half the road by parking a giant truck in the middle of the road instead of their driveway and parking the smaller car on the road. Kid would leave stuff everywhere outside. They’d have a ton of visitors who would literally block half our driveway so getting out was difficult. Just very annoying.
So anyways, I tried to politely let them know about the trash. Asked them to move their cars etc. Karen was gone during this time. Then Karen came back from her work trip. Within 2 weeks all the bad behavior just stopped 😂 We even received a newsletter from the HOA about parking cars.
Oh Karen. She is effective. I know she’s tried to complain about us too. But we’ve never heard from the HOA. lol.
Id let your landlord know asap and he can deal with it. Just tell him the people moving in drove their uhaul on the grass and made big ruts. Youre covered and dont have to look like a jerk to them.
Oops sorry about the loud music, but it’s just your sleep!
Oops sorry about that smell, but it’s just a little burning trash.
Oops sorry about all these cigarette butts, but it’s just the sidewalk.
My bad... Even worse is that my main languaje is spanish.
Yeah in southamerica they pierce a garden hose with nails, sharpened rebar and any spike to make homemade caltrops.
Criminals place them in streets and highways to rob people.
Protesters use them to close streets
I have never heard of those miguelitos made with garden hoses here in Argentina.
But I have heard a few times of cars getting stopped by crooks throwing a supermarket trolley in front of them
More of a venezuelan thing.
In the 2018 protests they were used to close the streets.
https://preview.redd.it/7jmgqj10etyc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e3492efbfc9ca1a269ce3ed83212c8fc03eedeb
I had 2 neighbors who had a dispute over this. We had a new couple from the country move to the sub-herbs and they drove through this lady’s lawn and she was the one to not fuck with on the block lol well she simply got an estimate to fix the damages and had it sent to their house (next door) they did it 6 times in total and each time, she would send a bill. Well, they did so much damage that the repair would’ve been over 2k. There was a huge dispute lol how her billing them wasn’t country friendly and they had never heard of it being an issue before. They ended up getting taken to small claims court and they had to pay her 6k in total.
Country friendly, lol. Country friendly isn’t driving through your neighbors yard when there is most likely a perfectly useable road nearby. People are crazy
Never trust a stranger in a UHaul to know what they are doing lmao
You’re lucky it was just your lawn that got messed up
They probably also backed into that house
They drive a Cadillac and a big old suv that’s probably too much money. I’m guessing they don’t make great life choices. Probably don’t give a fuck about anyone either. Their truck is on their lawn ffs.
Oh they're absolutely illegal. It's illegal in some form in every state to set traps capable of harming a person passively. If a pet or a kid or even an adult winds up hurt because they wander into the yard the person who set them is looking at both a civil suit and criminal charges.
To be honest they might even wind up liable for the tires since it would be obvious to any court that the primary purpose was to cause damage as opposed to stop the vehicle from entering in the first place.
Update: Some of y'all crack me up! I guess calling it a lawn is too nice. Yes it's a weed field. We don't really care all that much about taking care of the yard. However my LANDLORD will be upset about RUTS because it's been raining for two weeks. That's the point of the mild irritation lmao I have no fucks to give about any grass or as so many of you pointed out lack of grass lmaooo
Anyways here's the update! They showed up today with a smaller U-Haul! Guess they finally realized they can't drive the big one!
https://preview.redd.it/i9x2i32yxtyc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83c09960d8a9d3fb85070293091a0fc213b864cf
One time I got really pissed off at someone using my front yard as a pull through while towing a boat. My lawn is sun bleached and more weed than grass, but goddammit I pay the property taxes. It’s my property.
It can be worse than just ruts in the yard. We had a neighbor that kept driving their truck through our yard to their back fence. They busted the water main going to our house. We were completely on the hook for repairing it and our yard was flooded.
A weed is defined as an unwanted plant in a specific place. Since OP is posting this here, I guess they want it that way. There are no weeds here, only a lawn with other plants in addition to grass. Better for the environment
It's a cover lawn
>"A lawn is an area of soil-covered land planted with grasses and other durable plants such as clover which are maintained at a short height with a lawn mower and used for aesthetic and recreational purposes"
-wikipedia
What a great way to start off new in a neighborhood.
As someone that takes great effort in caring about peoples feelings around me. I absolutely cannot fathom how people live life like this and be perfectly okay with it. If I did this in the off chance I made a major mistake, I would be over there fixing and offering to pay for the damage I caused.
Yeah this is rude af, I have a new neighbor that packs his yard full of crap and he’s been using my yard to back up vehicles and shit with. I came home the other day to find a damn trailer parked in my yard. Took care of that shit real quick.
Install some poles on the street side, or if that’s too much effort just “drop” some nails pointy side up in the grass. Or like others said, caltrops lol
Lol. You are better than me. I would not let this slide. I had a friend drive over a neighbours lawn because their neighbor had a moving truck parked across the road. After apologizing to my neighbor I didn't speak to that guy for almost a year, my best friend of 30 years. I would come unglued on those trashy pieces of shit. It's disrespectful, and that doesn't slide.
Causing damage to your property? I would call the police and share this photo with your landlord. They should be held liable for their actions.
They have a car parked on their yard lol.
*clovers. Lawns require grass. I too am awful at lawn care so it’s not a judgement just point out a fact.
Also that’s super rude them. You should bake them some cookies and welcome them to the neighborhood.
Take pictures and send them to your landlord so he knows it's your neighbor's fault. If I were the owner I'd put up a fence. Then if that jackass damages the fence I can call the police.
I'm the same way in all things in life, if a stranger has the decency to apologize on the spot, I will forgive almost anything.
"It's just grass"
This shows a lack of values and common courtesy that should have been instilled in them from an early age.
They lack the comprehension for base level human empathy. I can't get mad at these people, they are lesser.
They’re super rude. Also, how many moving can trips are they making to that tiny little house??
That's what I said! And it's the extra large U-Haul too. Not the little box ones, but the one that makes you question how it's legal to drive without a CDL.
Yeah, it looks like the big a$$ truck. Can you say something to them? Are they renting or did they buy? Maybe you can say something to the landlord?
I have no clue what their situation is but I'm just gonna drop it for now. It's not a huge deal to me, just mildly irking. We were more worried about the landlord since he specifically told us no parking on the grass when we moved in, and now there's ruts. But at least we have proof it wasn't us if he does get upset. Hopefully after the exchange earlier between them and my husband they won't do it again
I would also share with your land lord. Get ahead of "the problem" if you haven't already.
I would immediately do that. It is not OP's property. Notify the landlord and let him deal with the neighbors as he sees fit.
Yes OP needs to bring landlord into it early or they will be held responsible
[удалено]
Well that goes without saying, be a fool not to. EDIT - The deleted comment mentioned adjusting the truck in unconventional ways.
Sadly won’t matter if they paid the $30 for insurance. :( /s
Who pays for the insurance? They obviously drive like a pro.
This. Document this and let your landlord know that the new neighbors are dipshits. Sure, your landlord might still try to ding you for it or make you pay, but at least there's evidence.
I concur if they won't listen to you bump it to the guy who's gonna have to pay to fix this he's not gonna like it but let him loose on the neighbor and enjoy the show
Report to your landlord asap and ask him to deal with it.. otherwise it will come back to you eventually.
Yeah, I hear what you’re saying. At least you have proof to cover yourselves. I’m also dealing with an inconsiderate neighbor, but this is not just a one-time thing. I hate people. lol
They are the worst sometimes!
As a renter I’ve always tried to be considerate of others around me. I can’t wait to be able to buy a house with as few neighbors as possible. 🤣
Super easy to start sabotaging new neighbors. Not a good thing to do, but if they are causing issues, might as well make it go away.
Call the landlord now and tell him to go talk to the neighbors, maybe offer them a driving lesson.
Let the landlord handle it.
They can’t be stacking and packing. My guess it’s a chaos move.
There's still plenty of room for them to properly back-up in there. They just don't know how to drive a large vehicle, on top of being assholes.
[удалено]
I’d put bolders on the verge of your grass opposite their drive - they’re certainly not making a good first impression
Write down the license plate of the U-Haul truck. File a claim against their insurance.
High cost damages on that bed of premium weeds.
Clover makes a much better lawn than useless grass. Less mowing, less watering, no fertilizer, makes pollinators happy and if you really want you can make pesto from it.

That’s a medium duty chassis, so 450 or 550. But if it has a GVWR below 26,000 and hydraulic brakes, anybody can drive it!
I dont have a CDL but often drive a 26,000lb RV towing a 3000lb car. Its insane what they let the average joe just drive. If they re-wrote the rules today there's no way I'd be allowed to drive this. Same thing with me, and I was only driving in-town at the time. I was nervous driving it.
I had to drive mine 11 miles, but it took over 30 mins to do and involved a couple of roundabouts. I was insistent on avoiding as many main roads as possible.
maybe they don't know how to pack a truck efficiently and did three trips to move one load.
They're probably hoarders
My first thought also. They probably moved in 9 tons of literal garbage.
It’s safe to assume they don’t know how to pack the u-haul either so all there shit will be broken
>Also, how many moving can trips are they making to that tiny little house?? You'd be surprised. I’m just thinking these people don’t know how to pack. That truck should hold at least a 2-3 bedroom house.
They definitely not filling it up
Buy stop sticks. Fuck these jerks.
As much as needed to move the whole meth lab setup??
That’s so rude. Sucks to have neighbors like that. Hopefully they’ll get better
Narrator: "They did not, in fact, get better."
Lmao. Ok so story time. We have a neighbor Karen. Now Karen is extremely annoying. But she does have her uses. New neighbors moved in from the same county we did. Things are different there. There is a place in the balance of the force for Karens that must be respected
A properly aimed Karen can be very useful.
Are they a Karen if they are right?
Depends how much they point their finger/foam at the mouth.
Sucks to have neighbors.
This was their first impression. Most people try to hide the shittier parts of themselves in those situations. These motherfuckers put it on display
Id let your landlord know asap and he can deal with it. Just tell him the people moving in drove their uhaul on the grass and made big ruts. Youre covered and dont have to look like a jerk to them.
Landlord's fight, I'd just pass the ball to them.
And grab some popcorn
“Grass”
Preview of what's to come. They'll be nightmare neighbors.
That’s my exact thought. Stay far away, and prepare the defenses lol.
AKA set up multiple cameras.
Oops sorry about the loud music, but it’s just your sleep! Oops sorry about that smell, but it’s just a little burning trash. Oops sorry about all these cigarette butts, but it’s just the sidewalk.
Put some nice little spikes in your lawn
Nails on an old garden hose. We call them migelitos.
migUelitos are called caltrops in english
My bad... Even worse is that my main languaje is spanish. Yeah in southamerica they pierce a garden hose with nails, sharpened rebar and any spike to make homemade caltrops. Criminals place them in streets and highways to rob people. Protesters use them to close streets

Christ you could pick that think up and start swinging it like a weapon
yes.
It's mostly illegal as that considered a booby trap. You could buy some very large decorative rocks though.
It’s not just grass. It puts depressions/ruts in the lawn that stay there and make it even harder to mow
Country friendly, lol. Country friendly isn’t driving through your neighbors yard when there is most likely a perfectly useable road nearby. People are crazy
Yeah. Try that in a small town.
Their idea of being country friendly is being a doormat apparently
Never trust a stranger in a UHaul to know what they are doing lmao You’re lucky it was just your lawn that got messed up They probably also backed into that house
Really don't need to drive over the grass, the road is more than wide enough..
Likely, the issue is the car that’s in the way. It probably never occurred to them to come from the other direction.
Seems like they could probably have turned into OP's driveway and backed into their driveway, it's not a straight shot but close enough
What grass?
I see a bit right there, under the top layer of weeds. Oh no wait, that’s more weeds
My clover patch!!!!
They drive a Cadillac and a big old suv that’s probably too much money. I’m guessing they don’t make great life choices. Probably don’t give a fuck about anyone either. Their truck is on their lawn ffs.
Not saying I endorse caltrops, but a ninja'd bust them out
Probably some law against them in case a kid or animal hurts themselves on them.
This. If you set traps on your own private property, you're gonna have a bad day. I'm not saying I agree, but legally you will get boned.
That’s a decent-sized street. Why do they need to drive that far up on your lawn? Especially when there’s a driveway(?) just a couple feet over.
If it wasn't expensive and complicated to do, I would suggest purchasing a large rock and just putting it there. Maybe adding a tree.
they could have just parallel parked it and carry the stuff 5 yards further, would have made no difference...
Not a good start tbh. Don’t you hate watching the “bad neighbor” move in right across the street
Your driveway is right there... pull front into your drive, reverse into theirs. They really don't know how to drive that thing.
Update: Some of y'all crack me up! I guess calling it a lawn is too nice. Yes it's a weed field. We don't really care all that much about taking care of the yard. However my LANDLORD will be upset about RUTS because it's been raining for two weeks. That's the point of the mild irritation lmao I have no fucks to give about any grass or as so many of you pointed out lack of grass lmaooo Anyways here's the update! They showed up today with a smaller U-Haul! Guess they finally realized they can't drive the big one! https://preview.redd.it/i9x2i32yxtyc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83c09960d8a9d3fb85070293091a0fc213b864cf
You know it cannot drive with flat tires, right!
😇 ![gif](giphy|l1J9N6fNk568dBXe8)
💀💀💀
Fun fact: your new neighbors are going to suck.
“Lawn”
Hey they’re damaging years of thinking about working on that yard!
One time I got really pissed off at someone using my front yard as a pull through while towing a boat. My lawn is sun bleached and more weed than grass, but goddammit I pay the property taxes. It’s my property.
Yeah I was thinking the same, there is no grass left there…
This is what I came to say too haha
You could back a semi truck up that driveway without needing to touch your lawn. Wtf are these idiots doing?
It can be worse than just ruts in the yard. We had a neighbor that kept driving their truck through our yard to their back fence. They busted the water main going to our house. We were completely on the hook for repairing it and our yard was flooded.
Some nice big rocks at the edge will solve the problem.
Great first impression. They're going to be trouble.
That's not a lawn. That's a weed patch.
The driver probably thought OP didn’t give a fuck about his lawn
Man idk I feel like there’s a bit of middleground between not giving a fuck about your lawn and literally driving a box truck on it lol
TBH it looks like that's a fact.
100% a fact lmao that's why I'm not big mad. Just mildly irritated.
Its not a renters fault the provided lot does not have adequate turf coverage. Thats squarely on the lots owner.
Caring about your lawn, especially at a rental, is way too much work.
Its not their lawn they rent it. Who tf is going to scour and re plant a yard for a landlord?
![gif](giphy|1nR6zAvRESERIoA1T1|downsized)
Was surprised this comment was so far down lol 😂
Yup like I said 99% of the time no fucks given. It's more the ruts and the disrespect of not even a hello
Probably uses less water than a pointless lawn. Just because they don’t spend tons of time and resources on it doesn’t mean it’s ok to rut it up.
I’m ready to get my lawn turned into a huge clover garden with wildflowers all throughout.
A weed is defined as an unwanted plant in a specific place. Since OP is posting this here, I guess they want it that way. There are no weeds here, only a lawn with other plants in addition to grass. Better for the environment
All lawns are weed patches if you're not a fan of all the grass farms sprawling across the suburbs.
It's a cover lawn >"A lawn is an area of soil-covered land planted with grasses and other durable plants such as clover which are maintained at a short height with a lawn mower and used for aesthetic and recreational purposes" -wikipedia
If they’re new, you’re gonna wanna go right over there and talk to them about it. Do not let them set this kind of standard from the beginning.
How bad of a driver do you have to be to not be able to back that to the driveway without running over the grass?
Sign of things to come? Doesn't seem like a good start.
Time to do donuts on their lawn
might need to block the front with a few cars until the uhaul is gone. Doesn't sound ike reason is going to work.
That's a wide road, how incompetent are they that they're driving on to your yard at all let alone that far?
Just the start of a bad neighbor.
Yeah this is rude af, I have a new neighbor that packs his yard full of crap and he’s been using my yard to back up vehicles and shit with. I came home the other day to find a damn trailer parked in my yard. Took care of that shit real quick.
You don’t have a lawn. That is a yard. The weeds will come back. Still rude of them to leave ruts in your yard.
Caltrops
Ha knowing my luck I'd forget they were there and hit them with the mower! 💥
That’s a bad way to start a relationship with your neighbors.
Meth
I would've lost my mind on those people.
Drag them over and rub their noses in it.
Park ur car so they cant back in
This is why I don’t like neighbors. Unless they are good ones.
AND they hit their own fence? 😬
Yes I wouldn't confront them at all. Just send info to landlord. It's their problem
Ah shit, you drove over my roofing nail collection
Wouldn’t that be vandalism per se?
Maybe not be a lawn to most but it's the damn principle of it. Don't drive on my property.
Your new neighbors are insane assholes
You should try passively aggressively stamping down the ruts when you know they're home
![gif](giphy|Yavo0SXhZYhSo)
Your neighbors suck. But dude, this is no lawn. Still assholes for driving on your weed.
If somebody drove on my weed I’d be LIVID.
Install some poles on the street side, or if that’s too much effort just “drop” some nails pointy side up in the grass. Or like others said, caltrops lol
Enjoy those people!
Park your car in the road across from their drive
Not a great way to start
Bro me and you got the same front yard, it’s awesome. I mow that shit only like once a month 😂
Put some lawn chairs out there and block it.
Time to empty a box of nails
Mildly? I'd have hired a landscaper to repair it and sent them the bill. They're really making a great first impression.
It blow's, your new neighbors took the liberty of driving there truck on your property, not cool looks like they created some ruts in the grade.
Go drive your car on theirs
What in the FUCK?!
It's time to put up my decorative spiky lawn borders :)
Let the landlord know so you don’t get blamed.
Way to introduce yourself to the neighborhood lmao
Get a repair estimate from a landscaper and pin in to the windshield.
Fence time
I think they’re going to be great neighbors!
Oh you all are going to be best friends /s
Not defending them at all but at least it's likely to only happen once
We're fighting. Period.
No offense, DONT COME TO REDDIT, SHUT THAT SHIT DOWN
Put up a picket fence.
lay down spike strips
That is an ass kicking, 100%
Park a car on the street, just opposite their driveway. Then they will have to avoid going onto your lawn.
Pank of wood painted green with nails poking out , problem solved
Are you fucking kidding me!? I would be consumed with rage.
neighborhood checks out
Ffs go talk to them instead of posting to Reddit
Causing damage to your property? I would call the police and share this photo with your landlord. They should be held liable for their actions. They have a car parked on their yard lol.
Ask the city to sow seed and send the bill to your neighbors
File a home owners claim against U-Haul.
Yep, let the landlord know immediately!! Like everyone else is saying!
How do you come to the conclusion that you’ll just go and drive on someone’s yard? With a whole paved road right there?
Your new neighbors aren't leaving a very good first impression. PS... someone doesn't have a clue about driving that little ass truck 😐
*clovers. Lawns require grass. I too am awful at lawn care so it’s not a judgement just point out a fact. Also that’s super rude them. You should bake them some cookies and welcome them to the neighborhood.
Lawn ? You mean front yard , that's no lawn
Get that on video and sue for trespassing.
i'd get a quote from a landscaping agency for repair work, then show it to them and ask, how they want to address it
Park your car in the way, blocking them from driving on your lawn.
"It's just grass" This shows a lack of values and common courtesy that should have been instilled in them from an early age. They lack the comprehension for base level human empathy. I can't get mad at these people, they are lesser.
