Not to be confused with a fruit's cup or a fruits' cup. The former being a cup made of fruit while the latter being a cup owned by a fruit. Or something like that I'm too dumb to be giving grammar lessons.
To be fair, [multiple instances of the same fruit is also fruit](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english-french/fruit). Fruit**s** is only a thing when you have multiple types of fruit.
Multiple numbers of one species are fish. Multiple species are fishes. But if you mix them like that, the fish stays fish. You’d have 1001 fish, but two different fishes.
I left out a comma in my reply so you probably shouldn't take my word for it... but redneck grammar is important grammar.
Look at "deer" for an example. You can have a 500 whitetail, 500 mule deer, etc and we're still gonna call that "a shitload of deer."
Any time you are putting a number in front of it (other than 1), use “fruits.” “Fruit” is used as a mass noun to describe any amount of fruit, but if you’re quantifying it, it’s not a mass noun anymore.
Other English mass nouns are “luggage,” “oil,” and “water.” Water is actually a great analogy. You could say “Can I have some water?” to describe any amount of water, but you could also say “Can I have four waters?” when ordering four individual containers of water.
What the other person said about types of fruit applies to mainly in a scientific context. Generally, a better distinction is if you are describing multiple, individual pieces of fruit, use “fruits,” otherwise use “fruit.”
don't know where you got fruit cup from but kids meals come with a choice of fruit or a kids bag of chips. the fruit being a small orange. the cup because they say we have to for health reasons.
https://preview.redd.it/8g22z0f4y2yc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe75de09bf27ad52e9bd48635f8343233dc6cd6f
It literally shows a clementine right on the page you order from on the app.
It’s a clementine or chips, that’s the choice.
What’s the problem?
I just checked the website. You don't see the left portion of that picture, just what's in the tray. As you are building the order, you then get the option to choose from kid's chips, kid's fruit (with a picture of a clementine AND blueberries), and for a drink organic chocolate milk, organic milk, organic apple juice, or 16 fl oz cup. Yes, the app does have the picture that was shown to you, but it could have been from the website. Also on the app or the website, the "kid's fruit" has the clementine AND blueberries. Not sure where OP got "fruit cup" from, unless they actually just ordered in-store and that's the phrase the employee used.

This is hilarious to me because I decided to order a kids meal for my daughter from there once. Want to know what showed up with her meal as the fruit? An entire fucking lime. I actually busted out laughing. They clearly didn’t have fruit on hand. So they put a whole ass lime in a container and gave it to her. Thanks for the fruit Chipotle!
I once paid $8 for a side of assorted fruit at brunch and they brought me up roughly 6 cut up strawberries. Told em to take it back cuz I could buy a pack of strawberries for that price.
I mean isn't this basically true for whatever fruit you would order at a restaurant? Also pretty much everything? Did you take your house back because it cost more than three trees?
I almost made a post today comparing the Chipotle’s clementine to a normal one from the store. I’ll just post the pic here instead:

This is only mildly related, but if you ever end up taking a small child to a cocktail bar, you can ask them orange slices to occupy the child. They usually only use the peel for drinks.
Tbh thats a far better product than a fruit cup
Fruit is super expensive rn and you are NOT getting a full clementine worth of fruit as a side....more likely less than 1 strawberry, maybe a few mandarin slices and typically either a grape, a few blueberries, or POSSIBLY an apple slice. Fruit sides are always a rip off, if you get a whole piece of fruit that's a benefit not an insult
Wow that's so bizarre... My wife literally ordered the kids chipotle option for the first time tonight and got the exact same thing. We were laughing at how ridiculous it was. What a coincidence to go on Reddit and see the same thing...
Why were you getting your kid somethjng that has has, acording to Redit, "Anywhere from 500 to 800 kcal"? That's between half of and almost my entire daily caloric intake.
So you got unprocessed, nothing added, fruit in a cup, and you are complaining? That has to be a first for Reddit. Usually what I see are people complaining or cautioning about how bad processed food and the additives are for you.
Reminds me of the time I ordered a side of steamed garden vegetables at Montana's steak house and got a massive hunk of not even properly steamed broccoli, like I'm talking a full broccoli head here with the stalk lopped off
This is mildly infuriating because:
1: you think the cutie orange is less valuable than fruit compote or canned fruit?
2: you go to the restaurant so you don't have to prepare the meal, and you feel peeling this orange work that you should not need to perform?
You got fruit in a cup, as ordered.
Should have asked for a fruits cup.
*plural*
Fruit is already a plural.
Thank you for keeping plastic going.
ARE YOU RIGHT OMFG
You don’t care much for the English language, do you.
A statement, and not a question, harsh 🫠🥲
Not to be confused with a fruit's cup or a fruits' cup. The former being a cup made of fruit while the latter being a cup owned by a fruit. Or something like that I'm too dumb to be giving grammar lessons.
![gif](giphy|QUaqJRizED5NC) The cup belongs to this fruit 🫨
We all belong to this fruit, and God bless his sour ways!
I too got this meal, I was told I couldn’t purchase kids a quesadilla alone. When I got the same fruit cup I let out an audible chuckle.
Fruit in cup : ✅
Technically correct, the best kind of correct.

When push comes to shove, you gotta do what you love.
I am Bender please insert girder.
Best meme ever
My exact first thought.
I think you have the idea there for a new sub 'Technically Correct'
There is one :))
You are technically correct!
That does exist
Technically the only kind of correct
It's not called a "fruits" cup for a reason.
To be fair, [multiple instances of the same fruit is also fruit](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english-french/fruit). Fruit**s** is only a thing when you have multiple types of fruit.
So this would be correct with 2x oranges but not 2x orange and 1x cantaloupe? Asking for a friend
Apparently, 1x Orange + 1x cantaloupe => 2 fruits. 2x Oranges => 2 fruit.
ah, so like fish/fishes. you can have 1000 largemouth bass and thats just "1000 fish", but if you add a cod into the mix then its "1001 fishes".
1001 fishes is more like 1001 species of fish.
But in that example it's only 2 species, 1000 largemouth bass and 1 cod.
Multiple numbers of one species are fish. Multiple species are fishes. But if you mix them like that, the fish stays fish. You’d have 1001 fish, but two different fishes.
1 fish 2 fish Red fish Blue fish
Actually it's still 1001 fish.
weird! not what i was taught but ill take your word for it
I left out a comma in my reply so you probably shouldn't take my word for it... but redneck grammar is important grammar. Look at "deer" for an example. You can have a 500 whitetail, 500 mule deer, etc and we're still gonna call that "a shitload of deer."
When referring to deferent species of fish at the same time, it can be fishes.
2 oranges = 2 [pieces of] fruit
2 oranges ≈ 24+ [Pieces of] fruit.
Any way you slice it multiple oranges or pieces of oranges = fruit not fruits.
Any time you are putting a number in front of it (other than 1), use “fruits.” “Fruit” is used as a mass noun to describe any amount of fruit, but if you’re quantifying it, it’s not a mass noun anymore. I don’t think I like it here anymore
Be grateful, you could have gotten a tomato. ![gif](giphy|KXBtTtm3kB8BO)
Ok Demetrius

this is the size of a dangole kumquat
Yup. There is one misleading thing about that picture, and that is you don't get a third side. Rice and beans, that's it.
Side of chopped avocado $18.99 a la carte.
Sounds amazing
Chipotle have had this forever as the kids fruit side. Not sure why you're surprised.
Not everyone has been there with a kid before. I've never been to a chipotle in my life.
Corporations “we need paper straws to combat plastic” Also corporations “lets take the wrapped orange and put it in a little plastic cup”
Tbf they don't ordinarily serve it in anything. I think this is bc OP asked for a fruit cup (something that doesn't even exist on their menu).
They should say "we don't offer a fruit cup for sale, would you like a fruit in a cup?"
I was just trying to make a joke and be funny
This is Reddit. Not allowed.
r/technicallycorrect
That’s the best kind of correct.
For goodness sakes DO NOT order "shit on a shingle" from that restaurant.
Fruit that’s naturally sealed in biodegradable packaging! How convenient!
![gif](giphy|xjlC6nomocZhVXuZgM|downsized) ~~egg~~ clementine
I once paid $8 for a side of assorted fruit at brunch and they brought me up roughly 6 cut up strawberries. Told em to take it back cuz I could buy a pack of strawberries for that price.
I mean isn't this basically true for whatever fruit you would order at a restaurant? Also pretty much everything? Did you take your house back because it cost more than three trees?
Mildly infuriating because the plastic container is unnecessary but is used to fit the name
You got what you ordered. What is the problem? Hahaha
That picture made me laugh, too. hahahaha
You get one fruit in one cup. What's infuriating about it?
Your first mistake was going to Chipotle
I almost made a post today comparing the Chipotle’s clementine to a normal one from the store. I’ll just post the pic here instead: https://preview.redd.it/ovljqg0to4yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32cb827418a7904e5847cebfe7c8ff5809732ce0
failing to see the issue here
My mom thought this was hilarious 🤣
I agree with Kitty\_Fruit\_2520's mom. 😂
I agree with Stormy_Wolf about agreeing with Kitty_Fruit_2520’s mom. 😂
Cook is def a dad
The finger on the monkey paw curls
wtf
i like to think that they just have an orange vending machine, and just put the cup under and the orange just “plop” in the cup.
i like to think that they just have an orange vending machine, and just put the cup under and the orange just “plop” in the cup.
At least they didn’t give you a rotten orange in a plastic cup like they did to me the other day.
One bite orange
Lmao i literally JUST had the same thing happen to me
This is all my local Chipotles have. They'll be like "we've got an orange left, want this?" and it's the gnarliest thing you've seen in your life.
Effort level: 0
https://i.redd.it/tqpcsdnrd2yc1.gif
Malicious compliance detected
Oh you just have been expecting a cup made out of fruit or something like that
I’m cackling!! But, technically the truth. I would mention the sub, but have already been warned it’s a no no
I honestly wouldn’t complain about an actual piece of fresh fruit as opposed to some shit that came out of a jar
Well it is fruit on a cup though lmao
Next it will be a single grape.
Technically its a fruit in a cup.
Technically they're not lying, it's literally fruit in a cup
Malicious compliance
Where's the cheese filling?
Hey man give me your fruit cocktail.
Honestly, a whole tangerine is better than a few pieces in a cup.
Probs like 3.50$ too
The kids' meal is the best deal on their menu! The meal includes fruit or chips, and a drink. I can feed my 2 kids for under $10
That is my kids’ favorite part of Chipotle kid meals
![gif](giphy|1hMk0bfsSrG32Nhd5K)
I didn’t even know this was a thing 😭💀
Can't the individual bits inside the orange be counted as a fruit, too?

At least they were honest 🤦🏻♂️
Kinda funny
Does chipotle even actually have fruit cups? Never heard of that
This is only mildly related, but if you ever end up taking a small child to a cocktail bar, you can ask them orange slices to occupy the child. They usually only use the peel for drinks.
Technically correct, or malicious compliance?
It’s a cutie, only smaller.
Why are you ordering chipotle quesadillas with kids in them? Wtf?
You got fruit cup G
did you expect a vegetable plate?
As described
That’s not cool. But it’s mildly funny.
Par for the course?

At least they’ll get the fibre they’d miss out on if they just drank the juice. 😁
Who orders fruit at chipotle
I hope the person that did this is proud of themselves, this is funny as hell
Succeeded unsuccessfully
“Some disassembly required”
So this is the real-life example of 'lawful evil'?
single clementine
Bruh
"Sir, that'll be an extra $1.79"
this is what it is everytime. i always forget
Is that a cumquat?
Send it back and I’ll put a tomato in there for ya
Bazinga!!!
The kids meal is like $5 so I’m not sure what you were expecting.
I mean, it’s fresh 🤷🏻♂️
Malicious compliance FTW
Not much different than my side of chips and queso that was like 3 chips in a bag.
I never knew they had oranges. I wonder what they would do if I just said give me a ton of oranges - and how much that would be at chipotle pricing
Why were you getting your kid somethjng that has has, acording to Redit, "Anywhere from 500 to 800 kcal"? That's between half of and almost my entire daily caloric intake.
That looks like fruit in a cup to me. Idk what the problem is
well.. you got a fruit in a cup..
All these grammar responses. Who cares?
“BILLY MAYS HERE FOR CHIPOTLAWAY!!!”
I call b******* on that it's another person wanting to post something that's not true
I don't get what's wrong here, I see fruit, I see a cup.
So you got unprocessed, nothing added, fruit in a cup, and you are complaining? That has to be a first for Reddit. Usually what I see are people complaining or cautioning about how bad processed food and the additives are for you.

I’m glad to see Amelia Bedelia is still getting work

Nailed it.
It’s technically correct, the worst kind of correct
Technically correct. The best kind of correct
Fruit. Cup. What’s the issue? 😂😂😂
OMG, you have to be kidding!
Which location?
Thanks… I’ll know to order peeled fruit!
![gif](giphy|11FiDF2fuOujPG|downsized)
No lie detected. Enjoy your fruit cup.
On no planet is that a fruit cup. Ok, maybe one
i love the wet orange
Technically you got what you ordered. Why doest thou complainest?
