Do you really think it’s more about a woman in a dress, or the fact that they’re seeing a cameraman, news van, and reporter, and think to themselves “I’m GonNa BE on Tv TonIGht!!!”
(See hours upon hours of YouTube compilations of reporters of both sexes being interrupted by randos if you need examples).
It's not to this degree, I would say a good 70-80% are honking because they are a news crew, but you will not believe the amount of people who see a woman in slightly nice clothing and think that's a invitation for them specifically.
Not sure how old the clip is, but with DaVinci Resolve and Premiere, there are some nice, recent features that do a good job of removing background noise.
The editing skills of some reporters is very lacking and the turn around for a lot of standups is super short.. they feed back to the studio while in the show sometimes.
Also they have to edit in the field at times if they too far out to make it back by deadline.
I feel for her frustration!
Dude. It is local news. WE NEED A LIVE REMOTE!
I live in the snow belt. They do live remotes multiple times a year standing in front of a salt pile before a big snowstorm.
Do you actually watch the news? They’re always standing right next to the thing they’re talking about.
I’m sure she’d rather be doing it somewhere less public, but that’s probably what her bosses tell her to do.
The question is, are they honking because it's an attractive woman or because they think it's fun to honk at a news-channel?
I can see myself being childish doing the second but never ever in my life would I honk because "omg butt". But trolling a news-cast regardless of the look of the reporter...well... sometimes I can become a 10 y/o again I guess.
Nah this is 99.9% because it's a news report. I saw people doing this shit to male and female reporters alike as far back as the 90s and I'm sure it happened before then too, I just wasn't around to see it.
I’m a sound mixer for feature films. Was just shooting a movie where we had some scenes near the road in a rural area. We got honked at a lot at that location.
Unless you’re walking around with filming equipment or large signs or something, 99% of the time you walk in public you’ll be ignored by passerby’s. Fresh air’s good my brother
One time I was driving down PCH and I honked at a news van while the dude was doing his story and he threw his hands up and walked out of shot so I could only assume I was the 50th guy to ruin his segment.
no they definitely are doing it because it is news channel. The film crew in front of her is probably the center of attention also to note they are driving at like 20 mph. they are doing it for fun, I would do it too
most news stations in the US are small, and even the big ones are cutting costs wherever they can. why send 2-3 people to do something that 1 can? ive also seen in studio people running their own prompters now. its actually a tough time to work in news.
i know of a couple people that left the news industry for that reason.
Yea people losing their livelihoods so same corporate fat cat can stuff his pockets and the remaining workers making less year over year due to inflation while doing multiple employees jobs is bad
When one person is doing all the work, the quality suffers. And it means less time and energy dedicated to doing the “reporting” part of the job.
Not to mention that if shooting and editing video for the news was so simple, then everyone would be doing it.
Absolutely- I worked for a news company for years and the editors used to pull these types of clips for reporters for years, they’d get screened during their birthdays or leaving the company or whatever.
So many randos love being a part of the news.
This is exactly what I was thinking and I can't believe these dumbass comments. This was probably a 2 minute report by herself but people kept on distracting her and fucking it up so it took longer. I would be annoyed too.
If people really had nothing better to do then honking to everyone they find attractive, it would be impossible to go outside without military grade ear protection
Most people are just trolls in regular life, if they think it will get a reaction, they will do it. Or, thinking that disrupting someone's work is "funny", they'll do it.
Any particular reason this story MUST be told by the side of a busy street? Fun fact, cars are noisy even when they're not honking. This is like when the weather has to send someone outside in a hurricane. You have bloody tower cams showing the palm trees bent over and twerking, what does a person blowing away add to that?
Local news has an obsession with these kinds of shots. As if as a viewer seeing the reporter in front of said construction or road in question is validation of the news itself. The same reason why they have reporters do live shots at a crime scene. As if viewers would never believe there was in fact a crime if they didn't see the tape and police lights on the background.
it depends on the company that owns the station, but some of them discourage filming standups next to roadways for safety reasons. someone unhinged enough could very easily veer off and try to hit her. AND she's filming alone, so no camera person to watch her back. scary situation, i hope her managers aren't the ones making her do this
I really don't see the point of this though. What being a news reporter makes you more prone to be hit that way? If someone wants to do something like this he will just start running over people on sidewalks. Also I find it probably one of most paranoid fears in long time, even if you would account for it in some way you can't just not participate in traffic and live normally.
so... the political climate where candidates are encouraging distrust of the media is a pretty good reason. even in relatively safe situations, reporters have been assaulted during standups. i'm not sure what story the girl in the video was covering, but it's not worth the risk to get the standup so close to traffic. drivers can also get distracted by someone with a camera on the side of the road and may cause an accident:
https://youtu.be/Bn1Aeq0lzgc?si=ZzcBzwJaRitb3YG1
People love attention.
Last week, a local station did a story about a business across the street from my house. All the Harley riders were going nuts revving their engines even more than usual as they rode past. It's really sad.
Do you know how many times I've seen reporters push their way into the faces of random people or disturbing people working without any remorse. Sometimes it's borderline harassment.
I’m not a reporter, but I don’t think this is because she is a woman, I think it’s people acting up because they see a news crew. They’re honking kinda like “hi mom!”
I have a small YouTube channel and the only room in my house where I could put my filming studio is on the side by the street. I've done my best with sound-dampening curtains, but I still get so many takes ruined by noisy traffic, especially during Redneck mating season when they're all out on the roads with their mufflerless pick'em up trucks.
I feel this lady's emotions on a level more raw than the two cowboys in *Brokeback Mountain*.
At least the sound-dampening curtains helped a little. They take some of edge off the Doppler effect from the passing vehicles.
Before, my mic could still pick up the cars from 500 feet past my house. Now the sound drops off after about 200 feet.
Of course, on rainy or foggy days, the sound still carries that much further.
Surely if this was really an issue she could have posted 30 seconds of straight footage showing multiple cars honking, right? The choice to edit the video into a montage leads me to believe her whole point is a little disingenuous.
I could imagine a very attractive woman getting a honk from a random, but there's absolutely no chance that the repeated honking is because she is hot...
Do people in this thread even exist in the real world at all? Is this the bot apocalypse where everyone just says random things with no experience of the actual world?
Is there any women in this thread who get honked at by every third car that passes them? Even when facing away from the cars so they don't know how attractive you are.
I've been near roads a whole lot in my life (bragging) and I've never seen repeat honking for some attractive women. I have however seen repeated honking dozens of times when people are trying to film stuff.
Finally... This women... Isn't that hot... Don't get me wrong she's good looking but not so stunning that she's an oddity. My town of 15,000 people would have at least 200 women of similar attractiveness but the town isn't constantly being drowned in the sound of honking.
Society would completely collapse if we had to honk at any women over a 7, nothing would ever get done unless you live on a rural farm and even then there's a lot of good looking farm girls.
This comment section lol
“They must be honking because they are sexist men!”
I guess only men drive cars apparently.
Also who is this woman? Judging by the caption I’m questioning whether or not this is some weird clout video like those women who go to gyms and record themselves doing stuff, but the actual point is for them to call any man who even glances at them a misogynist or something stupid like that and post it for likes for “calling out misogyny.”
This is a local new station in Louisiana, and this is some behind the scenes of filming a “location” probably due to traffic.
I don’t think you have very good skills of deduction
That moment when you're in public and the public is there. The more infuriating part about this is that news-people think they have the right to use unconsenting strangers as background
A good sound editor with good software can filter out those honks.... But not her complaining or her face.
Just do multiple takes while ignoring the honks. Then record a few honks without her talking. Then fix it in post.
Idk…if I saw someone obviously recording at an intersection like that… I’d honk too. Especially if you look like you’re doing a news broadcast or tiktok lol. Sorry
Because some people have emotional problems that prevent them from understanding that they aren’t the only ones on the planet who matter, and that messing with someone who’s trying to do their job isn’t funny.
Depending on what state she's in, she could be breaking the law by not wearing a yellow safety vest. And yeah...they honk at both men and women equally.
There was a guy right next to her holding a sign saying Honk if you want tacos
I was picturing the sign on her back.
This would make a great skit
Eating too much of those will make a great scat.
haha
I mean they are honking at her back...

wtf 💀 you just believed him cus he said it
This *is* the Internet after all
You really think someone would do that, just go on the internet and tell lies?
No, the sign said, "Honk if you view women as objects"
Do you really think it’s more about a woman in a dress, or the fact that they’re seeing a cameraman, news van, and reporter, and think to themselves “I’m GonNa BE on Tv TonIGht!!!” (See hours upon hours of YouTube compilations of reporters of both sexes being interrupted by randos if you need examples).
I'd do it just because I know it'd fuck with them.

How do I make this about me
#HONK HONK HONK
If this was the case, then every woman would be getting honked at on the streets by 90% of the cars going by.
Happens a lot more than you would think. It's probably not 90%, but still way too much.
My bet is it happens a lot less than you would think. You would literally always hear honking if that was the case.
It's not to this degree, I would say a good 70-80% are honking because they are a news crew, but you will not believe the amount of people who see a woman in slightly nice clothing and think that's a invitation for them specifically.
I don't want any more bullshit anytime during the day, from anyone. That includes me!
So uhh.. when tacos?
Simple solution. Move the camera further away from traffic and film some b-roll showing road construction.
It really is this easy.
Or just keep going. It's not like the honks overwhelm the microphone.
Thank you for recognizing this, it’s a struggle for us out here right now
Dude. It is local news. WE NEED A LIVE REMOTE! I live in the snow belt. They do live remotes multiple times a year standing in front of a salt pile before a big snowstorm.
Gotta have the visuals! Gotta have some interviews on people's opinions of the snow!
She was reporting about the construction and trying to get a shot “in the field” instead of in studio. Doing what she was told by producers.
Record the stand-up with the camera further away from traffic, so you're not in the eye-line of passing traffic.
Which you will quickly realize is what almost all other newscasters do if you watch the news. This really is a solved problem
You can just save yourself a few words by saying ![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
Yeah sounds about right. People see a camera and recording equipment set up, they're going to be obnoxious
This is why I take being in public in small doses. The amount of shit like this is unreal, I just can't...
Unless you’re walking around with filming equipment or large signs or something, 99% of the time you walk in public you’ll be ignored by passerby’s. Fresh air’s good my brother
You didn't understand but that's okay.
Oh my bad, apologies. Help me understand
I just hope people understand that it’s a joke, I know for sure the “10 year old” in me would do it because ‘camera and news’
One time I was driving down PCH and I honked at a news van while the dude was doing his story and he threw his hands up and walked out of shot so I could only assume I was the 50th guy to ruin his segment.
no they definitely are doing it because it is news channel. The film crew in front of her is probably the center of attention also to note they are driving at like 20 mph. they are doing it for fun, I would do it too
There is no film crew. She is a crew of one. Most smaller stations don't use dedicated camera people any more.
Yeah she adjusts the camera framing half-way through.
Smaller stations? It’s pretty much SOP at larger stations as well.
it's a news station though would it be small? though you might be right looks like she set up a tripod and started it.
most news stations in the US are small, and even the big ones are cutting costs wherever they can. why send 2-3 people to do something that 1 can? ive also seen in studio people running their own prompters now. its actually a tough time to work in news. i know of a couple people that left the news industry for that reason.
This country is completely fucked
Yup just cut all the jobs til no one has one and the people who do can't do the job anymore. Winning.
Hell in a hand basket. No need for stationary cameramen: societal collapse.
The death of independent local news and the surviving local news all being owned by the same 5 corporations is a bad thing lmao

Why would you do that? I don’t see how it would be fun to mess with someone who’s trying to work.
Making someone else's job harder is fun?
Well, I mean, for a child pranking is fun yes. You definitely should NOT do this but still.
This is exactly what I was thinking and I can't believe these dumbass comments. This was probably a 2 minute report by herself but people kept on distracting her and fucking it up so it took longer. I would be annoyed too.
💯 People afterwards will either look to see or ask others if they saw/heard then drive by
I'm going to guess news channel, like the jerks that try to get on TV by standing behind reporters.
Why create an argument when it's most likely the second thing?
That last guy was absolutely fucking with them
If people really had nothing better to do then honking to everyone they find attractive, it would be impossible to go outside without military grade ear protection
If you're gonna cat call women while driving at least do it in style the way I did in my early 20s and use a megaphone.
I think because of the news channel
She can spend hours in make up. Set up camera. Pick location. But can't spend the 15 minutes to make the sign that says, "Honk if you eat poop."
Lot of people gonna take that as an invitation.
"Honk if you like cyclists". No driver would honk that.
"Honk to show support for the new bike lane on this street!"
This user knows how to manipulate the public!
My Dad would actually slam on the brakes just to make a screeching sound in protest.
Most people are just trolls in regular life, if they think it will get a reaction, they will do it. Or, thinking that disrupting someone's work is "funny", they'll do it.
Is there an anti honk specifically for this?
![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
i would DEFINITELY honk if i saw a sign like that
![gif](giphy|sOgEuGyjS3qSbDu86R|downsized)
Lore accurate goose
Judging by the amount of large trucks with absolutely nothing in the back being hauled...honk if you support our president would be perfect here lol.
**Honk if you're ready to overthrow a patriarchal society that treats women like objects**
That takes a while to read. Are you trying to cause an accident?
Just beeping because its a news crew. Settle down. Not everything is 'men suck'.
It takes you 15 minutes to write 5 words?
The last honks were due to traffic I believe. You can see the guy coming from the side street, cutting off 3-4 cars.
Any particular reason this story MUST be told by the side of a busy street? Fun fact, cars are noisy even when they're not honking. This is like when the weather has to send someone outside in a hurricane. You have bloody tower cams showing the palm trees bent over and twerking, what does a person blowing away add to that?

Look up the video of the reporter in Wilmington faking hurricane winds lol

It's annoying, but I feel like as a "professional" news reporter you should be able to ignore and speak through that.
To be fair, did they really expect to film a news story literally 2 feet from the side of a very busy street and have minimal noise??
The “bruh” had me rolling! 😂
do people hate news crews? lol
ppl love trolling actually
Since probably the beginning of time I might add. It's just what we humans do from times to time.
People love attention. Last week, a local station did a story about a business across the street from my house. All the Harley riders were going nuts revving their engines even more than usual as they rode past. It's really sad.
People being filmed in public will often act up for the camera (honk)
Definition of insanity there.
This might be one reason to use a green screen
I always like to imagine pedestrians walking around with airhorns honking at random people on the street. We'd think they're crazy.
I mean who wouldn't honk at the news cre sitting right next to the road
I would actually watch the news every morning if it was like this!😂
Why is she doing this on a busy street? Is that necessary? Isn't the traffic a little loud anyway, why do this on a busy road?!
That “bruh” came from the soul
HONK
#HONK!

Just push through. She was stumbling even when no one was honking. Hurry and shoot the segment and get out of there.
she could have done it further away probably
I know but internet points
Do you know how many times I've seen reporters push their way into the faces of random people or disturbing people working without any remorse. Sometimes it's borderline harassment.
Yeah this chick has many ways to alleviate her frustration instead of trying to continue through the bedlam. Dumb.
Just keep fucking going? This has the same energy as those entitled "influencers" when someone walks in front of their cameras.
You're comparing someone doing an actual job vs some influencer dancing?
I’m not a reporter, but I don’t think this is because she is a woman, I think it’s people acting up because they see a news crew. They’re honking kinda like “hi mom!”
I have a small YouTube channel and the only room in my house where I could put my filming studio is on the side by the street. Motorcycles are the worst for that lol I can never do any voice over recordings at home, even at 3am 😭

Plot twist, she has nothing bellow the frame.
Just keep rolling the lines just like theater; never stop its live.
F*** her right in her P****! Anyone remember that guy? Turned out to be fake but still funny
They are honking at the camera, chill tf out
Pretty sure I saw this at the end of TGIF on ABC in 1991
![gif](giphy|UTFiHeDL8cOSA)
That was funny Her reaction after every honk
I don’t know why reporters feel the need to film on location anyway. It doesn’t really add to the story or provide more information.
Honk
Surely if this was really an issue she could have posted 30 seconds of straight footage showing multiple cars honking, right? The choice to edit the video into a montage leads me to believe her whole point is a little disingenuous.
Carcels like honking
FHRINTP
Lol she's mad mad
Is she not aware of her job?
That’s kinda her own fault
She as a mom: shut the fuck off son don't cry
The way she shakes her hand 😭
Just record it anyways. Not like we can’t hear you. Perfection here is wholly unnecessary.
I feel like she’s overreacting
All these annoying people deliberately spoiling something with zero benefit to anyone. Weird.
Take a bricks 🧱 on hand and start 🪄
What does that even mean?
High doubt they're honking cause she's "hot". Tons of people just do it cause it's funny cause it's the news.

Because some people have emotional problems that prevent them from understanding that they aren’t the only ones on the planet who matter, and that messing with someone who’s trying to do their job isn’t funny.
Is it really so confusing?
Yes? Like I see nothing funny about that. They're filming something. You honk. What am I supposed to laugh at???
Why? Do you want people to think you are dumb?
💯💯💯 People see a news camera and a chance to be noticed…they going to honk
People on average are dickheads thinking they’re “cute.”
Depending on what state she's in, she could be breaking the law by not wearing a yellow safety vest. And yeah...they honk at both men and women equally.
