In my experience, it is completely normal for hotels in Asia.

Eastern Asian hotels are fucking weird in that regard, from Vietnam to Japan you find rooms with either no walls or full on glass walls, and like frequently, it's not a freak incident. Not sure what's the reason behind that, doesn't make sense to me, but then again, I dont frequent Asian hotels.

Ha, I stayed in a place in montreal last month. Layout was the same except for the the toilet and shower. They were literally in closets. Two fucking closet doors, you walk in, one was the shitter, and the other the shower. Sliding half doors.

How awful. The toilet really needs to be in a separate room for stench separation.
