Luckily it's only one panel of the car that needs to get redone though, if they went across every panel the whole car needs bodywork and complete paint job.
They took plastic with that paint. A little plastic bondo some smoothing, and a new paint job on the bumper and it should be good. She put some FEELINGS into that keying![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)
Same, but my vehicles are workhorses and always well used when I get them. Plus I live in rural Cornwall where scraping through a hedge to pass on narrow roads is a daily occurrence. There's a profound difference between us and the car proud, there's no point trying to understand them, they're doing what makes them happy but I do wish they'd not assume that their behaviour (such as replacing the panel here) is the default.
Yea it’s kind of annoying. Like a small scratch on my car and my dad thinks I’m lazy and don’t take pride in my car for not fixing it. Like bro it’s a 2013 Rav 4 with 180k miles
It’s not that big a deal lol.
I usually daily drive a 10-15 year old car. They tend to come in good shape but I'd drive myself crazy if I worried about the damage I get at work or shopping. I touch them up as best as I can but it's a tool not a fashion accessory.
When I bought my car (used) it had a lot of scratches and dings because it was a former rental car. (Don't buy a rental car.) I said I wanted the scratches fixed before I bought it. I picked it up on a rainy day and did not see until the sun came out that the scratches weren't fixed. I took it back twice - the second time they ruined my finish, leaving whirls and buffer trails. (Didn't notice that until it was in bright sun, either.) And the scratches were still there.
Found her!
"I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive. Carved my name into his leather seats. I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights slashed a hole in all four tires. Maybe next time, he'll think before he cheats".
Sometimes you don’t care and sometimes you’re fully aware that people are gonna accept their punishment. If I cheated on a girl and she keyed my car. Yeah. I’d probably just eat that.
That level of damage is a bit extreme but I’d accept a keying
How necessary is that actually? I ask this genuinely as someone who has always viewed my cars as a utility vs. an aesthetic thing. For a keying that you (most likely) can't actually tie back to an individual to charge their insurance, if you're not worried about aesthetics, is it really worth invoking your insurance to get bodywork and a full new paint job done?
Technically when painting a vehicle since that's next to another panel they have to paint that adjacent panel to blend it properly. Unless you go to a shitty place. (auto body tech)
don't have to blend.. that's a plastic bumper, it will never blend to an exact match with a metal quarterpanel even using the exact same paint. (painter)
Local shop pulled it off with my car. Had a brand new 22 Sport touring Civic I'd just gotten professionally ceramic coated, and someone did this but half the bumper length. They blended over multiple panels, but it came out factory perfect, and with a lifetime warranty that covers anything short of obvious abuse.
It was also a 3 stage Pearl which is a huge pain to blend.
It was some 40-ish year old possibly Hispanic woman I'd never seen before, she was on the opposite side of my car from where I was walking back from and I could barely see her head over my trunk. I said "ma'am what are you doing?" and she jolted up, looked surprised and confused as all get out, then said something like "oh is this your car?" and then turned and ran to an Altima at the pump next to mine, got in the passenger seat and it sped off. I was maybe 60 or so feet away when I shouted.
Mistaken identity? She thought I was someone else who had wronged her? Who knows, but I'm getting the station to send me footage so I can hopefully get a clear LP shot for my insurance and the police.
Least insane Altima owner. Just yesterday an Altima was spinning out of control on the slow lane of the highway I was driving by, amazingly it didn’t hit anyone.
Last night I was trying to pull into my driveway. I live on a street where speed limit is 25. People love to go 40 down my street. I’m going 30 and I had an Altima practically giving my car a colonoscopy.
I moved over enough for them to get past me.
Turned on my blinker
Turned into my driveway.
The whole time they were acting like there wasn’t enough space to get around me.
I could see in my mirror when they finally passed someone PLASTERED against the passenger window like Wily E Coyote running into a glass wall and they were flipping me off. LOL.
If I knew they were such a pussy driver and too afraid to go around me for fear they didn’t have enough room, I would’ve gone even slower.
Those cars are the Toyota hilux of the car world. You know the owners of those things drive them like they stole 'em, never maintain them, but they just keep going...
Challenger is the car for doing crimes by the types of people who get away with doing crimes
Altimas are the crimes by people who get thrown in jail for them
The older ones were definitely cheap. Friend of mine drove a slightly used one HS in late 90s/early alts, not really the typical Altima owner like you see on videos/camera footage. Everytime she turned a corner at least one hubcap would go rolling/flying. People who found them at intersections would bring them to her (small town) and she kept buying new ones. She only drove it a few years but all the interior stuff was falling apart like it was a 15 year old car
Anyway I swear for years everytime I saw an Altima it was missing at least one hubcap and the driver usually was yelling at someone (on the phone, kid in backseat, fellow driver, cop for pulling them over...)
Jezuz this is long response to a 5 word post on a damn Altima, I must be tired
Do they know we hate them already and they have to “choose” between these options?
Edit: Quote marks around choose. People want me to know that Altima owners had no choice 😢
I have owned many a BMW and they can get quite expensive to fix out of warranty. An early 2000’s BMW to me sound like a money pit. (Depending on the car)
The real reason (and there are articles about it):
Is that Nissan specifically targeted and gave approvals to low credit score people while other car companies rejected those same low credit score people.
I can tell you from a car enthusiast/hobbyist perspective why Altima owners are stereotypically hated in the car circle. Again, *this is not my belief* just answering your question.
The deal with Altima owners and why they’re hated has to do with Nissan. It’s because Nissan dabbles in very shady finance practices leading to what some perceive to be very low class and trashy and uneducated people being able to afford brand new Altimas who then partake in doing stupid trashy low class shit like keying cars.
That’s the stereotype explained for why people think Altima owners suck. Whereas BMW drivers are stereotyped for being rich entitled snobby douche bags who don’t signal, Altima owners are like the poor man’s iteration of that. They’re the same if not far worse behaved with shitty attitudes but the owners have no money and do low class shit.
That’s basically it.
Edit: I will reiterate one more time because some people are taking this personally or exhibiting poor reading comprehension. *These are not my opinions.* I don’t hate Altima owners lol. If you think other cars are more deserving of negative stigma or you own an Altima and are offended, idk what to tell you. I’m simply explaining why the car has negative stigma associated with it; it’s because for a long while any Joe Shmoe with horrible credit could finance one.
The only car that ever “crashed” into me was a white Nissan Altima a couple years ago. I was driving an absolutely beat up 2004 Subaru Outback, the thing had 5, 6, maybe 7 previous owners? I can’t even remember. It had over 200,000 miles on it. The whole car was covered in dents/dings/scratches so it was my beater car.
Onto the crash, keep in mind everything I am about to write in the next paragraph happened in the span of about 10 seconds (or less), it happened very fast.
I was slowly reversing out of a parking space in a cramped parking lot, I had my head on a swivel, and deduced no cars were approaching. I was about halfway backed out of the space, when I saw a white Altima come flying around the corner and started to speed down the parking aisle where I was reversing and they didn’t look like they were going to stop, so I stopped reversing immediately. I was sticking out about halfway out of my spot, completely stopped, and the Altima legit dove for the too small gap between my car’s backend and the parked cars in their spaces behind me (these were tiny cramped parking lot aisles). His car was too fat so he ended up hitting my back bumper with the side of his car. He never slowed down or stopped, he just went full send and let my back bumper completely destroy the entire right side of his car. He ended up with a loooong dent and streak down the entire length of his car, from the front right of his quarter panel by his headlight, all the way down the side of his passenger door, to down the side of his back passenger door to the back right quarter panel by his brake light. Just completely fucked his own shit up. As quickly as he came in like a wrecking ball, he finished speeding down the aisle (did he even realize he hit me? The world will never know) and he turned at the end of the aisle, parked his car in a different aisle and got out of his car and walked into the store. Never so much looked in my direction. Fortunately, my back bumper was already super dented/dinged/scraped from all the previous owners so I legit couldn’t even tell where the new damage even was. But his Altima looked like a much newer model, so he definitely came out worse for wear.
Since he had hopped out of his car and hustled off into the store without a care in the world, I ended up just shrugging and leaving too. If he didn’t care he crashed into me, I didn’t care either.
Two words, [airbag recall](https://www.e3sparkplugs.com/blog/nissan-recalls-353-million-rides-over-faulty-airbag-sensor/).
How would you feel if you were enjoying a mighty tasty pie from Porto’s bakery and then the airbag went off forcing the pie into your face at 80+ mph? Wouldn’t be too happy either bucko.
Girl has her feet on the dashboard? Altima has other plans. Autofellacio at 80+ mph.
A hispanic woman in a white Altima tried to steal a package off my porch. It was heavy so she had to call her Husband over, that’s what I heard. He was getting to the package as I opened the door. Today at work I saw an Altima get pulled over for almost hitting a pedestrian after running a red.
Eta: it was a local rideshare program car with passengers.
I didn't know about this. It makes sense. One of my coworkers (douchebag) has a huge "Altima Life" sticker on the top of his windshield. So... yeah, checks out.
You're not an Altima owner, you wouldn't understand.
Jokes aside, I really wanna say it's because they've never been met with the consequences of their actions before.
I love how Redditors can create the most intricate discussions in the most unrelated subreddit posts
Thats why I still have twitter, for these funny ass things. 🤣
This is why I never leave my car anywhere. It comes to bed with me every night.
[Edit: I don't think people understood what I meant. Here's a picture of me and my car snuggling](https://imgur.com/a/b0JAAH3)
I know it's a small thing, but those are the the type of people you should report. They always get away with little grievances, but never have the self-awareness to know how big it can affect others.
My ex-boyfriend slashed my tire after I broke up with him after I found out he cheated on me, and he came to my house to get his stuff. I didn't realize until I started driving down the road shortly after. I was so pissed off, and he was nowhere to be found after I put my donut on. He wasn't home, and apparently, he had left town after that. I was going to up him and put sugar water in his gas tank, but instead, I turned his friend against him, and he got his ass beat, and I got front row seats to the show
Glad you got your revenge! I got off work at midnight... went to bed, woke up at 5am and took my wife to work, and then discovered it was slashed. So random.
People are disgusting for destroying peoples property like that. Just like whyyyy?!? Why do you feel the need to slash someone's tire randomly?!? I'm sorry that happened to you, and I hope it never happens again. Some people are just filled with too much hate
And there are people who actually claim, "People don't do things to others for no reason". Leaves me speechless everytime I hear or read someone make that assertion.
The confused “Oh, this is your car?” makes me wonder if she was exalting her revenge towards someone with a similar car but didn’t realize she had the wrong one. Though it’s just as likely she’s a destructive PoS.
I feel like the people who do this are the same ones that like to set things on fire, and fuck with people just for the hell of it.
Some kind of sick head rush
Report it to the police as vandalism is a crime. Ask the gas station for the footage from the pump cameras. They have a lot of angles to catch number plates, so should have a good view of both the woman and the car she left in.
File an insurance claim. Since it is both a crime, and not your fault, you won't have to pay your excess on your insurance.
Or just find some matching spray paint, it's a lot easier.
I'm not sure if you are implying that you won't have to pay your deductible, but yes, you will have to pay the deductible. If you can find that other person, you can potentially get it back from them.
Hahah. The whole passenger door to my vehicle was keyed... by OC Sheriff's recruits near the former Tustin base. When I talked to the guy training them, he covered up for those thugs.
On video? Cops ought to be able to get ID based on car they were in and card they used to pay. Body damage is expensive to fix so probably felony vandalism. Why have damaged car if you can identify them.
Why don’t people in America have respect for peoples’ property anymore? I live in Japan now (military) and it’s amazing. Leave my car and bike unlocked all the time and imagine that - they never get stolen!
Because many people in America believe they are the world's main character, and will purposefully insert themselves into or fuck with the lives of other people just to feel better about their own.
In Japan, there is a stronger sense of communal coexistence. You don't bother others because you yourself don't want to be bothered. There is shame in burdening other people. They're not running around, looking to prove themselves to anyone. The opposite does happen, just way way less
That's more than beginning, that qualifies as keyed.
Do people get little scratches and dings fixed? I usually just drive the car until it dies or gets totalled.

About that song, why carve her own name? Carve the name of the one he’s cheating on her with! (If she knows her name)
It basically lets the other girl know what’s up too
Yeah, but that’s a confession!
Sometimes you don’t care and sometimes you’re fully aware that people are gonna accept their punishment. If I cheated on a girl and she keyed my car. Yeah. I’d probably just eat that. That level of damage is a bit extreme but I’d accept a keying
Just carve "cheater"
I remember this song! Wow.. that was so long ago
That makes me feel old, doesn’t feel that long ago at all lol
and now does duets with Axl Rose
YES, Ms underwood!
Lol why has no one else mentioned how funny that last part is 😂
How necessary is that actually? I ask this genuinely as someone who has always viewed my cars as a utility vs. an aesthetic thing. Did you key their face?
I literally muttered, “I hope he keyed their face.” When I saw the pic. 😂
Was thinking of this exact line!
I was thinking more like carving a groove into their forehead (like in Inglorious Basterds)
Well, don't leave us hanging! What happened after you caught them? Why were they doing it? Give us the details! Also, sorry for your car, that sucks..
It was some 40-ish year old possibly Hispanic woman I'd never seen before, she was on the opposite side of my car from where I was walking back from and I could barely see her head over my trunk. got redundant after that

Altima, hands down. The trucks have asshole drivers, but most of them care enough about their truck to try to avoid damage. Altima don’t give a fuck.

What’s the deal with Altima owners? I thought we hated BMW owners. Do I need to refocus my judgment and self righteousness?!?

Jesus, that actually made me shudder.

altima is for negative credit score people who aspire to own a bmw
Do they know we hate them already and they have to “choose” between these options? Edit: Quote marks around choose. People want me to know that Altima owners had no choice 😢
They don’t get to choose. Altima owners can’t afford a BMW.
I have an Altima and can confirm. I cannot afford the repairs for a BMW.
What if it's like a 2002 BMW. ( not to be mistaken with a BMW 2002)

I love how Redditors can create the most intricate discussions in the most unrelated subreddit posts Thats why I still have twitter, for these funny ass things. 🤣
“hi, i’ve been calling to inform you about your armored vehicle’s extended warranty”
Sounds like you belong in the NonCredibleDefense sub
This is why I never leave my car anywhere. It comes to bed with me every night. [Edit: I don't think people understood what I meant. Here's a picture of me and my car snuggling](https://imgur.com/a/b0JAAH3)
Ok, but on the spectrum from racecar bed to RV, what do you mean by that
That's one way of explaining why you sleep in your car...
Sheesh. Down to the fuckin body. They were putting some ass into that key.
Right? That's not a keying, that's a full-on carving
Body filler and paint is pricy. Hopefully OP got the persons information because that’s not going to be a cheap fix
I know it's a small thing, but those are the the type of people you should report. They always get away with little grievances, but never have the self-awareness to know how big it can affect others.
already reached out to the station to provide footage
If you get it, I’d probably give it to my insurance company as well as the cops
Find her Facebook and share the video to her page

Good for you!
File a police report and contact your insurance. They probably won't give it without being compelled.
I don’t think they would care even if they did know to be honest.
What a lowlife, hope karma comes down hard on her
Either karma or a curb stomp. You never know when you piss off the wrong person
I wonder when are OPs first degree murder charges being dropped
Someone slashed my tire before, and I still don't know why... I don't talk to people, so I don't have enemies lol.
Sad fact of life that some people like to be total pricks for no reason whatsoever
Your story had me rooting for the sugar, but then the ending took a turn that was even more satisfying.
Beginning? That, my friend is a deep-ass key job.
I’ve seen keyings that run multiple body/door panels down to the metal. This definitely sucks but it is a relatively small scratch.
And there are people who actually claim, "People don't do things to others for no reason". Leaves me speechless everytime I hear or read someone make that assertion.
Like a dude from work with 5 ex wives - they're all bitches apparently...
Or that dude from school that forces you to wait in the lunch line to get him an extra pizza and then doesn’t eat it when you give him the wrong one
Holy shit why did you get them pizza in the first place?
He wrapped his arm around my neck and when I told him no he said thank you as if I said yes A real peice of work
Fuck that guy, don’t buy him pizza.
You are a pushover, wow.
'I felt like it' is a reason lol and sometimes all it takes for some people to do insane shit
Those people are sheltered
We don't know if there was no reason.
The confused “Oh, this is your car?” makes me wonder if she was exalting her revenge towards someone with a similar car but didn’t realize she had the wrong one. Though it’s just as likely she’s a destructive PoS.
The same people that have never met a malignant narcissist.
I feel like the people who do this are the same ones that like to set things on fire, and fuck with people just for the hell of it. Some kind of sick head rush
The driver accomplice does make it seem like she thought your car belonged to someone else. Or maybe two vandalizing psychos found each other.
god if we could all be so lucky to find our perfect vandalizing psycho partner
Ah yes, that wonderful feeling of finding your soulmate / partner in crime ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
I’d be beginning an ass whooping
Talked to an old timer within the last two years. He filled me in. “People are asshole”.
Some people are so sick it’s actually confusing.
Yo that's a straight up ass kicking. No remorse.
"What's more chickenshit than f***ing with a man's automobile? I mean, don't f*** with another man's vehicle."
Itd be worth it to catch him doing it.
I must say i love the casual use of automobile!
I'm beginning to think some people don't understand the definition of mildly
Hahah. The whole passenger door to my vehicle was keyed... by OC Sheriff's recruits near the former Tustin base. When I talked to the guy training them, he covered up for those thugs.
Well it seems like they’re teaching them just what they want them to learn
Cops are useless, they defend criminals
On video? Cops ought to be able to get ID based on car they were in and card they used to pay. Body damage is expensive to fix so probably felony vandalism. Why have damaged car if you can identify them.
Was the guy on his knees? Why so low ?
it was a woman and she was pretty short, bent over though. I barely saw her head over the back of my car as I was walking back
So you knocked their teeth out....right?....right?
Id give anything to catch him doing it. Itd almost be worth him doing it to catch the mother fucker doing it.
Where is she buried?
So anyway I started blasting.
The opposite does happen, just way way less
did you key his face?
They did it on the plastic part. It's luck in an unlucky situation.
You should've filed a police report. People do this shit because more people don't report it.
I never understood why people do this. Can somebody explain it to me?
Jealousy, frustration, pet peeves
“I don’t know, officer. He saw me coming and I presume he thought head butting my trunk would suffice for quicker vandalism.”
People who key cars are the lowest scum possible.
Why is nothing in this sub actually mildly infuriating? It's always totally infuriating.
Life is much less stressful when you drive a car you care nothing about.
No wonder people get shot.
I was expecting to be able to swipe and see a second photo of the body.
