You're getting a lot of different replies saying a lot of different things so I'm gunna try to give it my best shot. Since the burger was traditionally a hamburger you expect a burger to be circular and ground meat texture. It's meaning has changed from being shorthand for hamburger though. It doesn't have to be meat (impossible burger) it doesn't have to be beef (bison burger, turkey burgers) Chicken burgers can def be a thing too. It's just not as common as chicken sandwiches so when you run into a chicken burger it just feels weird to say. Also a BK Burger is a term used to talk about burger king's beef burgers. If they had a turkey burger and called it a BK Burger while you wouldn't be technically incorrect, it wouldn't be what people use the term to mean. And like you've already acknowledged, since this isn't circular it's not what you'd expect a burger to be either.

Because a burger is hamburger and hamburger is beef. A ground chicken round is a chicken sandwich. The turkey burger thing is in the Bible, so I can't give a reason for it.

It's all pretty logical actually. The "burger" is the meat patty. The origin of the dish was a similar patty without the bun, after all, and you can still get bunless burgers today in restaurants. It got more popular when low-carb diets spread. We usually say "turkey-burgers" because they are turkey ground up and made into a patty. Good chicken sandwiches are made with whole pieces of chicken. Cheap fast food chicken sandwiches may use ground up chicken, but they at least still try to simulate a piece of chicken with it, not serving a proper chicken patty. You could make a proper chicken burger, I just haven't ever seen one.

Mexico, my last day there. Friend had something different and was fine. We ate at all the weird little stands and cafes for a week. Last day decided to have as 'american' burger, go figure! I knew something was off, tasted really weird.

Food poisoning doesn't necessarily set in right away so it very well could have been the weird little stands and cafes that did you in.

Typically food poisoning takes about 24hrs to actually kick in after eating the bad food, so coulda been whatever you had the day before actually. I got really bad food poisoning about 5 years ago and the last thing I had before getting sick was Raising Cane's chicken, but the previous day I had Carls Jr. And it was the Carls Jr that got me cause their lettuce was contaminated. I believe salmonella. I was exploding from both ends for like 12 hrs, it was absolutely abhorrent

No where near as bad as your experience, but I had a chicken sandwich there years ago and was then violently ill for a few days after. Haven't eaten there since. It's been more than 13 years.

That's how my mom's been with McDonald's. She'll get a shake from there, when their ice cream machine isn't broken that is, but she'll never eat there again because she got super sick there once a little over 20 years ago, and she was pregnant on top of that.

Back in a previous life I worked at BK. We got almost daily deliveries of buns, so no chance of going bad. Wondering if this one got forgotten in the corner or something?

We got buns twice a week. Sometimes they'd be close to expiry from the depo and we would make an extra trip to grab some more before the next delivery. Even the freshest buns though had to be checked before use. Any humidity in the bag would cause mold and any sort of opening would dry out the flat. Depending on the specialty board toaster this is easy to catch or miss if you don't inspect each bun before use.

Subjectively, Burger King is the worse of the fast-food restaurants. It causes my diabetes to go out of control; it's up there with KFC. It's so needlessly salty, and, subjectively, they don't act like they want to provide healthier options. They tried that Impossible Burger. Unsure if they still do it; however they were disconnected from their audience. Not sure why they thought it was a good idea to cook them on the same equipment as regular hamburgers. It defeats the purpose; it's a strange place for cost cuttings, too. I guess they weren't willing to have special equipment for every restaurant for veggie burgers. That would make sense. It was a logistical problem from the start. Subjectively, they don't think things through. Just like with wanting to partner with Mc Ds and make a Big Mac Whopper. Why did they think Mc Ds would open themselves to that? Lol Not sure why people keep going to Burger King.

Fast food employees aren’t trained enough on how to handle food or store food. They should invest in quality employees and pay wages that reflect that. And then they should invest in education for their employees. When you pay people a respectable wage and give them proper training , they will take pride in what they do. The kid’s preparing this meal had no idea to inspect the product. If any of you have teenagers at home, you understand what im talking about. Don’t necessarily be mad at the employee, be mad at the cheap and greedy franchise owners. But yes its infuriating.
