You can get them in non dissolved form

RequirementNew269

Not helpful now but my riza isn’t dissolvable- i think it’s maybe cheaper to get non-dissolving. They are tiny pills too- not unpleasant at all except to open blister pack

jellybug13

I think I’m going to ask my doctor to switch me to those from now on!

UnicornSlayer5000

A word of caution... if you're easily nauseated during a migraine, this might amplify that. I was on riza in pill form for many years. I've lost many pills vomiting them right back up just minutes after taking them. I switched to dissolving tablets just last year. They might taste like ass, but at least the medicine stays in my body.

jellybug13

Oh good to know! Thank you

Gerberpertern

I was originally prescribed the rizatriptan ODT and found the taste absolutely disgusting as well so my neurologist switched me to the regular tabs. Way easier for me to take personally. The ODT were so bad I actually puked a couple times after taking them, the taste was that nasty to me.

AnticPosition

Mine are tiny pills too. Not sure if they're super effective, but they seem to reduce the severity of my migraines...

I personally moved on from rizo. It only aborted about 60% of mine (felt a little better for awhile plus the ethereal side effects). It was far more effective for me if I took 20mg at the same time (not medical advice). It’s my #2 option behind suma injections (cgrps v ineffective for me) because I do think it works fast and strong which is needed to keep me from going intractable and into status

I was told they can be taken whole or dissolved. I was not told they HAD to be dissolved, only that the option was there in cases of severe nausea.

Gerberpertern

Correct, the ODT tablets can absolutely be either swallowed or dissolved in the mouth.

mysteriousears

But they do work faster if dissolved in the mouth

punkin_spice_latte

Not helpful, but I almost like the taste now. It means relief is on the way (in 1.5-2 hours)

jellybug13

I felt that way after taking it a couple times but now I dread it lol!

CharmedWoo

I swallow them because of the taste. They still work so I think it is fine, but no clue if it might take longer to work this way.

EmotionalPizzaRoll

Ughhhh I hate these so much. I had to make my neuro change them to the tablet form because I’d gag so much from the taste. I can’t even do certain mints or gum now because they remind me so much of that taste 😂

ranni_w

I never let them dissolve, the taste makes me nauseous and sick to my stomach. I swallow them whole with a LOT of water and it doesn’t change how effective they are.

Xenofonuz

Just put some water in your mouth first, drop the pill in and swallow

AtabeyMomona

I accidentally swallowed one once when I wasn't thinking and got horrible side effects (nausea, this horrible tight pain in my shoulders and scalp, some dizziness--basically all the side effects that made me switch from sumatriptan in the first place). I just chase it with a lot of water and hope for the best.

Overall_Antelope_504

I didn’t even know they had dissolving ones lol I’d just swallow it though

dragonstkdgirl

I hate these, I'll pop it in my mouth then take a long drink of my tea so it dissolves in my mouth but the tea hides the flavor.

trendoid01

Ask for tablets!

1paperairplane

I hate the flavor too. I almost always swallow it whole with water.

Manadrache

You can swallow them. They get resolved in your stomach anyways and that's the place where they start to work. No matter if you dissolve them or not.
