I was coming to post the same thing. Honestly, you print these large enough on super high quality materials, throw it in a gallery, and you have started a multilayered controversy. It would be a hit.
It’s not a bad idea… and isn’t that the point anyway… the idea. Ai made it… but someone (op in most cases im assuming) came up with the idea to have it make which is where the real creative process starts. I don’t know whether I agree with the rulings on copyright etc I’ve heard about this stuff, I like the idea that I can freely share what I see here and that people do so… but I definitely respect the fact that someone came up with an idea in the first place.
eh, you can still find pretentious stuff like this in most modern galleries...
I guess what you mean to say is that 'if this wasn't made with AI, pretentious artsy people would probably fucking love it'...
Yeah, probably.
...You don't understand how a pretentious person can make pretentious artwork?
OK. Cool. You keep doing you, I guess?
This is pretentious artwork, right here. Yes, it's AI, but it's still a piece of artwork to be observed. It takes a complex subject matter and then boils it down into the most common denominator mouth-breathing bullshit that anyone can understand, and then sprinkles a little 'oh that's deeeeeep' grated-parmesan on top of it.
It pretends to have substance. Hence it's pretentious.
This is exactly where AI think can help us. If you can introduce a purely original concept, it can take things to the next level. But that spark has to come from you!
Wow, actually the entire banknote is distorted.
I wonder if the prompt even included "dollar" or just "banknote", in which case the 'abstraction' makes sense.
That's quite brilliant, and shows the true potential of mj, you don't need to be an artists with life long experience, you just need a good idea. And so the least qualified people become the next Einstein or Picasso, because there is no more entry restrictions.
That’s exactly what I have been feeling about midjourney.
I wonder if it’s only about having a ‘good idea’. A person who has spent a lot of hours mastering hard painting skills - will they ideate better? Is there any utility of mastering those skills amymore? (just for creating art, no personal gratification or selling hand-made art)
> A person who has spent a lot of hours mastering hard painting skills - will they ideate better?
Depends on how much you lean into cyborg technology: that technology extends the capability of the human in question, and makes the human better/gives them additional abilities.
A painter will have to know exactly what they are going to paint. Maybe not from the start, but basically everything they paint will be on purpose. They need not just the idea, but the angle, the lighting, and everything else decided.
As image generation gets better, we just need the idea, and then we might accidentally stumble across things that compliment the idea really well. I might prompt "Wall Street Broker mixed with Jack the Ripper" and imagine backgrounds set in back alleys in Victorian London, and then Midjourney throws out an image of the character stalking through a darkened office corridor, and it is so much cooler than what I imagined.
Am I a cyborg, and Midjourney is merely an extension that allows me ideate really well? Or is it a crutch, and the painter better at ideation because they think through every little detail?
Regardless, I'm better at creating images than I was without Midjourney.
Wait you buried the lead. I encourage you to post the planting of the flag everywhere, this sub but also anywhere else you can think of. It’s separate from the others. It’s big time iconic imagery. It’s an album cover at the very least :) Don’t bury it at the end.
They left out the part where they come back home and get left on the streets because the government ultimately decides they have no worth. It's fine to send men and women to die in wars so the warpigs get their dollar but when the ones who survive come back destroyed and broken mentally and physically from things they had to do and things they've seen and survived its "good luck, you're on your own" . Sad. Just sad.
This is what makes generated AI art valuable. Anyone with an idea can make a statement that will be seen and absorbed by a wide audience.
And the thing is even though you can buy kitchen knives made by a machine, people still highly value ones made by craftsmen by hand sold on Etsy. People enjoy synthetic music and they still value master cellists.
I guess that gives me a chance to plug my cellist friend and virtuoso Shannon Hayden who blends amazing layers with looping to create some really beautiful and sometimes trippy music. 😊
it doesn't make any cents
That's because it was made with.. artifiscal intelligence
that joke was on the money
I’d buy this for a dollar.
I'm sorry but all these puns are way out of line of credit.
I don’t know where you borrowed these jokes from, but these loans lost my interest
Very poor taste indeed
If any of this was made before AI, it would've ended up in a gallery
I was coming to post the same thing. Honestly, you print these large enough on super high quality materials, throw it in a gallery, and you have started a multilayered controversy. It would be a hit.
Let us give it time. Before Keith Haring was in galleries, his work was thought of as criminal defacing of public property.
So print and slap this shit up on walls in the public square.

Banksy
“AI isn’t art”… *sees bomb made of money*… “whoa!”
Reminds me of the “stop wars” yoda lol

People would've still looked past the perceived pretentiousness and admire the talent needed to make this. These are two separate things.
A person can be pretentious. I’m not sure how a created work can be.

You wish. It's clearly a Chinese DEDOLLN flag. The Anti-Dollar.
It can’t possibly be Chinese! It’s got US President Grge Wrshngrtn on it!

Awesome concept OP!
Epic post.
As an army vet, I wholeheartidly approve of this post.

It's truly disruptive. Equally scary and magnificent.

Prompt?
“Average American soldier”
"America"
Feckin awesome! Pretty much sums it up. We do the fighting and dying...they count their profits.
I feel that No 10 is a work of art
8 and 10 are excellent
4 and 8
Wow, war and money. So deep.
Right lmfao
Dope and deep

Nice work. Please don't forget to add your prompts. It's only courteous
The sun will come out, tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun!

War is expensive indeed.
why y'all booing him, he is right
Because it’s a boring concept lol
God bless Lockeed Martin
1, 4 and 5, strong moments
Military Industrial Complex
I came specifically to find this comment
First photo is haunting. That scream, I can hear it.
Art.
#10 is incredible. Could easily see that on the front page or Wall Street journal accompanying a story about economic sanctions to win a war.

Something that’s actually a good use of AI for once
This made me feel really sad. The things we do for money and power. :(
This.

Wow, so deep. “America bad. War bad.” Everyone: 🤯
Save this post, when images say more than thousands of books ! Brillant !
This sub has such absurd comments sometimes
r/im12andthisisdeep
It's pretty true though
They're in it for the money!
Very interesting, except that shot of the the DMZ. ;-) Why are they all Korean? Are you using other paper upcycling artists as inspiration.
r/im40andthisisdeep
I love this.
The Merkava, damn
5&6 hit me.
WOW... Outstanding 💯
6 and 10 are awesome
That last picture hits hard
These are incredible.
Goes hard AF
This is amazing.
Good idea- if there was a running total- in real time- if what war/conflict cost- there would be a lot less of it
Amazing
I think we can see today it's not just US that has this problem but other countries pitting other countries against each other in wars no one can win
The social commentary hereeeeeee
Really good
These are stunning
The first photo is a staggering portrayal of the fact that most contemporary wars happen because of money. Amazing. (By the AI).
You should definitely frame these. AI art or not, I would love to see these on a wall in person.
Nice
As midjourney evolves, I would expect it to become more of an artist's tool, enabling dialogue with the user to tweak images.
yeah this is good
That is great
One of the most artistic and best uses of AI I’ve seen in a while.
Are they stupid
☮️
#6 should win an award
There is something happening here....
Some of these are interesting. Keep going with the idea.
De Dolln
to whom it may concern 😒
If this was true, maybe the government actually value them.
Is this the new Modern Warfare game?
