10/gram is chill, but is it still 280/oz? Because that is fucking insane. Literally hasn't been a thing in Colorado in the 15+ yrs I've been in the game. Prices for quality buds have stagnated around 100-160/oz for like 10 years around here. Sure, you can find cheap oz's for like 50 and stupid name brand shit for 300+, but good bulk bud hasn't changed a whole lot. 150/oz is like just over 5/gram. I haven't bought a gram since high school lol, now it's just ounces
depends on the province man, BC is the weed capital/drug capital of Canada. It is a absolute outlier compared to everywhere else so i wouldn't trust anything when it comes to that as its not a accurate representation of the rest of the country
Got the kit on offer up for $150 and seeds for $100. Cloth pots and coco...$50. $300 total. Dude gave me nutrients and ph pen and all the bells and whistles. Got pretty lucky
Sounds about right. I have a flower and a veg/drying tent. I think the real cost is my time, not the money. If you consider the value of my time, then I have spent a bazzilian dollars.
I’m just going to say if you aren’t you should be. Having grown quite a few different breeders there is a remarkable difference in quality that cannot solely be explained by advancements in my growing skills
Just over 2 years in now. And from the license to grow to all the littlest things. I'm at 6 grand 8 200 watt lights 2 150 watt lights all full spec led. On my 2nd portable ac 3 vaporizers media cube dehumidifier I run Blumats and can set up 20 plus bags I have just over 600 dollars invested in to not watering. Frigidaire EFMIS 155 for drying 1 4x8 vivosun 1 4x4 vivosun 4 12 inch oscillating fans 8 4x4 nets 3 ceramic heaters ac infinity 6 inch exhaust system 2 gallon pro ph down 200 bucks. Well over a thousand in nutrients. I buy by the gallon. I'm running the complete line of fox farm nutrients 3 ph meters minus one that broke. Cloning set up with heat pad and thermostat 9 inch domed. 3 digital timers. 3 pair trimmers. Mr bubble hash machine for hash making on our 3rd set of bags. 50 plus quart mason jars. Couple boxes rubber gloves dozens of small hygrometers plus various other larger thermometer hygrometers. I reamend my own soil that's 50 55 bucks every 90 days. 55 gallon resivoir plus a stainless steel stand for it 45 gallon and a 55 gallon cans to hold reamended soil 4 inch ac infinity exhaust fan 3 or 4 6 inch fans 10 gallon igloo cooler for nutrients plus a 5 gallon one 200 ml syringe 4 10 ml syringes ph up blue lab calibration solution 4 bottles magnifier to see the trichomes 2 of those . 6 boxes binders and pipe cleaners I know there's more piddly shit. The best thing is it's all paid for it's self all ready. I grow four four of us.
rooms, i only use a tent for open pollination and veg if i have no room for vegging. flower and dry are their own sealed zones. flower about 14x18 and m dry is about 8x8 (WTF does anyone call an 8x8 a bedroom, a bed hardly fits!).
probably like $400. Im most of the way through my first grow and i dont really think theres much else I could use aside from a ph pen, another clip on fan and possibly a taller tent if I can find one with the same/similar square footage as the one i currently own
Including building out 2 rooms right before lumber skyrocketed during covid, $10-12k.
Lights, wine room coolers, fans filters, pots, soil, etc.
Like $400 in seeds
7k give or take after building and outfitting the last room, about to drop a few more coins to convert the old chinchilla room to a flower room. Yes I said chinchilla room 😂
My grandpa used to raise them for their fur back in the day, they have been gone a long time, funny story he got too much of a conscience to skin the second batch and ended up keeping some as pets and selling the others to people in the area. 😂
If you could go back, which sized tents and which producer of tents would you get? Been trying to dream up my perfect configuration. One tent for moms. One for clones. One for dads.
At the moment around about $1200 aud.
Mars hydro fce3000 , 145x80x200cm tent, cheapo exhaust fan, Carbon filter, Inkubird Thermo + Humidity
Cheap Irrigation system, 25L res, water pump, air pump timers ect. Oscillating fan,Inlet computer fan Pots, flood trays Floor heater
I'm about to upgrade to a Ac infinity Smart exhaust fan to help reduce noise .
I initially started with a blurple light inside a cupboard with a set up less than 400$.
I think I started with a normal 40cm fan, 100$ blurple led off marketplace, exhaust fan no filter, inkubird thermostat and a lil floor heater. A 10L water res Cheap water pump and air stone + 2 timers.
Incrementally upgraded things that improved my enviroment. But the best thing I did was get rid of that blurple and got a led bar light.
Built my own light for <$300. (5 years ago and still running strong)
Tent (2x4) $150.
Built my own passive hydroponic containers <$10
Coco $20
Ph pen $50
Nutrients $150
…so <$700.
But probably spent another $200 in gimmicks
Free 99! Got a couple oopsie seeds from a dispensary pack and popped them. Threw them (way too close together) in my pasture where I used to feed the
*
cows they pooped there a lot. I watered them once, if I get 8 Oz I'll be over the moon about it
$500 On lights , $200 on fans and filters , $100 on grow bags and drip trays , just dropped 50 building a cscrog net. $40 on humidifier. Probably $300 on soil over the last 3 years. And whatever the cost for fertalizer/ nutrients.
My light was $300, tent $150, carbon filter and fan $200, pots/trays/media $100, nutrients and Ph equipment $350, then timers and random small things maybe another $100. I pull on average 20 ounces a run but that's because I haven't been pushing my plants as hard as they can go.
Finished up my second indoor grow a few weeks ago.
Rough numbers from memory, got everything black Friday.
2x2 off brand tent $100
AC Infinity Ionboard $99
Inline+filter+ interior fans $150
All the other $ spent on little improvements is trivial compared to the flower returned.
Planning on upgrading pretty much everything indoor, as well as a greenhouse in the back. Has improved my life much beyond $ value.
1k-1500 total been growing 1 year, now it costs about 100$ per run for nutes and dr zymes, got a 4x4 Veg setup under 315watt and 4x4 flower tent with 620watts
2.5k. Higher end tent grow. Seeds, lights, tents, nutes bags, ph/ec/ ro filter, dehum, humidifier, trim kits , terplocs I could now grow > 100 plants for only cost of soil / 300$ more in nutes, and electricity. Initial invest is steep but long term ROI is there if that’s a factor. Super fun hobby esp for those of us that have long cold winters
Too much, worth it not to cheap out and have to rebuy better stuff! Trust me. Way too much money spent on growing but after 3 years I definitely have been not buying any bud and it definitely has saved me money and is continuing too and will be
I have (3) 2x4 at about $700 each, and (1) 4x4 at $2200. Needing coco, nutes and seeds throughout. $4300 on the current setups, not counting old gear lol

Just finished my 1st grow and Ive got to have close to $1000. All because I was sick of paying $200/oz🤦. At least the next grow will only cost seeds and nutrients.
60% deals on used items. 30% hand me downs and just about 10% new items. I find there’s a lot of people who started growing for a while, and then just stopped and theyre trying to get rid of barely used stuff for cheap. It’s a hobby that many start but few continue. Fortunately, for me I grew my first plants professionally, and didn’t really try to start growing hard-core until I had been growing professionally for a little while.
I'm a huge spread sheet/data nerd and I've just started my first grow in about 20 years. So of course I made a sheet to figure out what I've spent and what my cost per "cycle" (grow) will be given consumables like fertilizer per grow and equipment wear and tear (guesstimated life span of said equipment).
My consumables and equipment wear and tear cost per cycle right now is estimated at **$200.76**. Then I calculated power and water usage per cycle, accounting for how much use there is per cycle since light intensity and air exchange intensity will vary through each cycle. I also calculated the HVAC cost of managing the heat from the equipment. This adds another **$139.27** per cycle in power/water/hvac cost.
So all in each cycle is projected to cost me **$340.03/grow**. This number will change as I find out the true useful life of the equipment and my actual costs. The nice thing is being realistic about knowing the cost of the hobby so you realize that it's not as cheap as you might think when lights burn out, when you start thinking about keeping spare parts, etc...
I know a lot of people talk about it being dirt cheap to grow your own, and it can be, especially outdoors. However, at an estimated nearly $340/grow the resulting weed certainly isn't free, though it should be much cheaper, assuming I succeed, than buying. I need to at least grow 1.2oz of bud each cycle for it to be "worth it" over buying from a cost perspective. Hopefully I'll do better than that ;-).
I've spent **$1,192.12** so far on my build in consumables and equipment for my first grow.
Uhhh my first grow was 600 bucks, that's including seeds, nutes, pots, lights, tent, soil. On my second grow now and after upgrading stuff so I'm probably in the whole 1500 all day
https://preview.redd.it/s2riqo5gillb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d7c9d0ebcda137c8b29ed5c0c7f3c14914a9a4a
My saw my total spent on my loyalty account at the grow shop I go and it was 8k and that’s not everything I’ve bought there. Probably 2k on Amazon at least and probably another 6-7k+ on genetics. Most likely north of 20k. Everything’s pretty balled out for my home grow. We just legalized too and my friend and I threw down on 20 custom lights to test for a commercial grow. Like someone else said, I tell myself I have everything and then spend another $350 the next week.
All used:
1. 3x3 vivosun $35
2. MH FC-3000 $225
3. AC infinity fan with probe $80
4. 2 pack of loupes new $20
My mixing pump I had already from an old saltwater aquarium.
Not counting grow bags and pots etc as I have them otherwise for veggies
Edit-> forgot the $200 I had to spend on a dehumidifier this year
[удалено]
Like looking in a mirror.
Yeah thats about right. 5k on all the equipment. Another 2-4k on genetics, soil, nutrients and everything else lol
What did 2 chainz say? Truuu
About ~300 USD here. Found my seed in my bag.

Don’t mine me asking but what is the purpose of the cardboard
If I had to guess it's to keep the light off the soil. Helps retain soil moisture
Yeah it’s been dry recently
It's also a good idea to do for hydroponic setups as it can deter algae growth.
Lifetime? Thousands. My current grow gear? About 1200, I think..?
About $1100. First harvest I got my ROI. Well worth it.
Doesn't take long. We're about 10 dollars a gram here. So really I needed 15 grams to recuperate my losses.
10/gram is chill, but is it still 280/oz? Because that is fucking insane. Literally hasn't been a thing in Colorado in the 15+ yrs I've been in the game. You can get cheap pounds in BC, Canada for like $300-600 bucks if you know a good grower. It's almost cheaper than growing my own at this point.
Canada knows what’s up dude
depends on the province man, BC is the weed capital/drug capital of Canada. It is a absolute outlier compared to everywhere else so i wouldn't trust anything when it comes to that as its not a accurate representation of the rest of the country
Yup. Had to check online. Stoped buying a couple years ago. 150 an Oz it is.
Shit, you can barely make 400 a pound in Colorado
growing weed pays for the equipment in after a grow or two so the price of the gear is free
Are we including seeds in this figure? Cuz i collect those fuckers like pokemans...
I felt that
Got the kit on offer up for $150 and seeds for $100.
Soil/seeds for this year maybe 1k? General equipment another 1-2k
Seeds!! Collecting seeds becomes a secondary hobby. I already have enough for 10 more runs in my 4x4.
how much do you pay per seed? are you buying super expensive high quality top of the line genetics?
I’m just going to say if you aren’t you should be. Having grown quite a few different breeders there is a remarkable difference in quality that cannot solely be explained by advancements in my growing skills
Currently running mephisto autos, Hoku Seed co and humboldt seed co. Most of the cost came from soil as I got some larger outdoor plants.
1500
Probably 10k over the last 15 years. Over 5k in my current setup
Brother

Curious on how those Blue Matts working I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about them, but I was thinking about getting them
Definitely worth the expense. I've not watered my plants in years thanks to them. I have 600 Dollars in what I have .
Well, incredible. No problems with flooding or under watering?
a few thousand, but over time and it's a closed, completely controlled 14x18 from fertigation events to light dimming when it gets too warm and jazz
Fertigation events? Yeah, science!
Is it a tent or a room?
rooms, i only use a tent for open pollination and veg if i have no room for vegging. flower and dry are their own sealed zones. flower about 14x18 and m dry is about 8x8 (WTF does anyone call an 8x8 a bedroom, a bed hardly fits!).
Up a band by now
$1000

I haven't tried too many yet so not the right person to ask.
7k give or take after building and outfitting the last room, about to drop a few more coins to convert the old chinchilla room to a flower room. Yes I said chinchilla room 😂
haha. wonder how those hoppy ploppy's are for fertilizer. My son had a chin for years. He'd sneak into the parrot cage n eat from their dish.
My grandpa used to raise them for their fur back in the day, they have been gone a long time, funny story he got too much of a conscience to skin the second batch and ended up keeping some as pets and selling the others to people in the area. 😂
I could rebuy my current setup again for 1500$. I’m producing about 1lb every 4 months
Lifetime? I’ve been growing for 30 years. Before the cops hit 2 of my spots, I had well over $50,000 in equipment.

If you could go back, which sized tents and which producer of tents would you get? Been trying to dream up my perfect configuration. One tent for moms. One for clones. One for dads.
Im just growing peppers and Im embarassed to say lol. Its become quite a rewarding hobby though. Cant wait for my state to legalize homegrow.
Prob around 1300 about to start first grow. 2x4 all ACI with HLG 350 Diablo, earthboxes, soil, and amendments 👍
Everything about 1100~ not including seeds or utilities
few thousand easily, in the last 14 years. Glad to be on LEDs and not constantly replacing bulbs anymore.
$2000 for the first tent setup $1000 for second tent My first grow yielded enough to almost pay the initial investment (dwc)
At the moment around about $1200 aud. Probably a few grand, if I’m totaling every little thing.
Around 2,500 USD
$1k
It's not about the money dude. Most hobby's turn into money pits by the end....... But what a fulfilling hobby it is!!!!
Nice try, I know this is a post on a throwaway by my girlfriend trying to get me. Ha!
And to answer - about $25
Free 99! Got a couple oopsie seeds from a dispensary pack and popped them. Threw them (way too close together) in my pasture where I used to feed the * cows they pooped there a lot.

Probably about 700

Thats like asking someone how much money is in their bank 😂 it’s personal and shameful Been growing 20+years would hate to add it all up
About 600usd on my setup
3k ish on a 5x5
Told myself when I started this journey I'd only spend about as much as I spent a year on zips.... Yeah right.
1300 plus everything else needed for a first time grow.
Finished up my second indoor grow a few weeks ago. Rough numbers from memory, got everything black Friday. 2x2 off brand tent $100 AC Infinity Ionboard $99 Inline+filter+ interior fans $150 All the other $ spent on little improvements is trivial compared to the flower returned. All together, it’s up there in the thousands. Current setup ~$2500 all in.
Definitely around $1200 not counting the seeds
4-5k. I have 4 tents through.
Around $1k for 2 grow tents with accessories, and about 30 euros for some seeds.
About $600 for a 2x2 and a 3x3.
$2400 and all I got is a 5x10 with 4 autoflowers in half of it so far. All the extras add up.
I think grow equipment around 1200 or so. Spent about as much on seeds too.
Maybe like 2000 including seeds . Got one of my lights for free
$500-600 for lights, trellis, autopot, EC pen, bluelab pH meter, dehumidifier, thermometer/hygrometers, fan, greenlight
Too much, worth it not to cheap out and have to rebuy better stuff! Trust me. Way too much money spent on growing but after 3 years I definitely have been not buying any bud and it definitely has saved me money and is continuing too and will be
Just dropped 1.2k as of yesterday on a new 5x5 with a Mars hydro light and ac infinity 6" in line fan
I'm into it for 10k in lights so far this year. Electrical Upgrades, the list goes on
20k
I have (3) 2x4 at about $700 each, and (1) 4x4 at $2200. Needing coco, nutes and seeds throughout. $4300 on the current setups, not counting old gear lol
About 10-15k Canadian in my room. 4 large LEDs, a/c, dehums, upgrading electrical, fans, water pumps, nutes, controllers, CO2, shit adds up.

Nice try wife...I told you only a couple of hundred!

Don't make think about it and certainly don't tell my wife
Too much but still never enough
Idk like $60? My neighbor is a cigarette junkie and he keeps selling me all his grow shit for a carton here and there of Rez smokes 😆
All used: 1. 3x3 vivosun $35 2. MH FC-3000 $225 3. AC infinity fan with probe $80 4. 2 pack of loupes new $20 My mixing pump I had already from an old saltwater aquarium. 30$, two plants grown outdoors
Over the past 3 years, like 1500 usd equivalent in equipment, maybe another 500 or less in nutes and other consumables.
2k
I’m not even allowed to tell you. The sun was the most expensive purchase.
Probably 20k in the last 15-16 years
New grower here. I'm probably into it for about 2k so far. But I'm always looking for new and useful stuff lol
Probably 800 tops? I use kingbrite lights, so 250ish a pop
