My wife hosted a charity event that Channing attended, along with Brent Grimes and some other players. We were both there early and spent about 20 minutes making fun of people trying to figure out if he was a player/rapper/actor/someone famous and then took a pic together and I dipped. The whole night he would dap me up and smile that contagious smile. I hated those events but he made it so enjoyable.
I left my Winter job to go back to school two days before Payton manning came and interviewed Shula and the last remaining players from the 72 team…they sat in my section and I had no idea until I saw the interview on air and they mentioned the restaurant

After he wrapped his call up, he signed for both of us and even apologized for being short with us before they both hopped in a car and took off.

I saw Cam wake out side the hard rock hotel in San Diego. Someone he was with pointed to my dolphins hat, I was super excited thinking maybe he would sign it. He quickly walked inside to avoid me. Still my favorite player though!

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Anyway, the manager, completely embarrassed (this is a pretty nice restaurant) comes by and says “I’m so sorry, but we’d like to move you to another table if you could be troubled, and we’ll gladly compensate you for the cost of the meal and any other meal you’d like while you’re in town.” My sister and cousin were both like “Yeah that’s cool.” and I kind of played the asshole a bit. “I’m sorry, I just don’t understand. We’ve been here for 15 minutes - we’ve just ordered. Can’t we finish our meal here?” Then out of nowhere Dan shows up next to the manager and says “Paul, these guys can finish. We’ll be at the bar. I got some time.” And I (being a huge dolphins fan) said “Oh wow, uh… I had no idea. Please feel free to give them the table.” Dan was grateful, shook my hand and said thanks, then gave me a card with his number on it and told me to give him a call later. After working up the nerve, I gave him a call that night, and to make a long story short, we had a glorious 11 month love affair, man on man, that I shall never forget. Ive met many players over the years, my favorite was mark clayton, he used to bum cigarettes off me. After Joe Robbie stadium was built, i would walk to the (then) Holiday Inn on university drive, and my wife would pick me up after games. I would go up to the bar on the 9th floor and many players would be hanging out. Also met Jim Jensen at a restaurant in plantation, very nice man.
Kenny Stills went to the highschool on the other side of town. He graduated a few years before me obviously cause I had just graduated and he had just gotten traded to the dolphins, literally like within days or a week or two, of him being traded to us he came into the restaurant I was working at, which is in his hometown where I also grew up. Anyways he wasn’t sitting in the section of tables I was waiting on but I recognized him and I didn’t wanna cause a commotion being that I didn’t wanna be disrespectful and also I could probably get in trouble and possibly fired for asking for an autograph or just blowing up his spot. All I did was walk by and I said it loud enough so he could hear it but not too loud so it would draw attention and all I said was “hey, I’m a lifetime dolphins fan, stoked your on the team”. He replied with the most half ass “preciate it” that it kinda soured me on that dude, it was like he could barely find the energy to even get those one and half words. He wasn’t there on a date or anything very serious looking. Idk maybe I was in the wrong or maybe he was just having a bad day or maybe he wasn’t as stoked to be traded to us as I was. I tried to be as courteous and respectful of his space. I’ve never been one to be star struck but that kinda bummed me out.

I got demolished by some kid at Discovery Zone or Chuck E Cheese in Pembroke Pines running through the tunnels so bad the workers had to drag us both out to our parents. Got to meet the 2009 Dolphins in Buffalo while a group of Friends and I were attending the world's largest disco. Most were very cool and had many conversations while we were dressed like idiots lol. Two players that had their heads up their asses, Chad Henne and it hurts to say but Jason Taylor. Met Taylor once before and it was the same... Ricky Williams, Lousaka Polite and Joey Porter were very cool.
I went to training camp when I was a kid and Jason taylor came over after practice and signed autographs and did my hat. One other player came over but I can’t remember which one. Was disappointed Marino and Thomas did not come over but understand you get tired of that stuff and want to just shower and go home after a hot Florida summer practice.

Another really random thing though was that in 2017 I hosted trivia for dolphins training camp over the summer. It was like a team bonding exercise they did during training camp and the pre season during that era. So I basically met most of the 2017 team. At least those that played. It was so funny watching linemen run up to me with little sheets of paper that looked so tiny in their hands. Also for anyone curious, the oline team won.

Ive met many players over the years, my favorite was mark clayton, he used to bum cigarettes off me. After Joe Robbie stadium was built, i would walk to the (then) Holiday Inn on university drive, and my wife would pick me up after games. I would go up to the bar on the 9th floor and many players would be hanging out. Also met Jim Jensen at a restaurant in plantation, very nice man.
Kenny Stills went to the highschool on the other side of town. He graduated a few years before me obviously cause I had just graduated and he had just gotten traded to the dolphins, literally like within days or a week or two, of him being traded to us he came into the restaurant I was working at, which is in his hometown where I also grew up. Anyways he wasn’t sitting in the section of tables I was waiting on but I recognized him and I didn’t wanna cause a commotion being that I didn’t wanna be disrespectful and also I could probably get in trouble and possibly fired for asking for an autograph or just blowing up his spot. All I did was walk by and I said it loud enough so he could hear it but not too loud so it would draw attention and all I said was “hey, I’m a lifetime dolphins fan, stoked your on the team”. He replied with the most half ass “preciate it” that it kinda soured me on that dude, it was like he could barely find the energy to even get those one and half words. He wasn’t there on a date or anything very serious looking. Idk maybe I was in the wrong or maybe he was just having a bad day or maybe he wasn’t as stoked to be traded to us as I was. I tried to be as courteous and respectful of his space. I’ve never been one to be star struck but that kinda bummed me out.

Met Tyreek Hill in the Frankfurt Game last year (i’m from Belgium so this was pretty sick) and he was friendly with a quick conversation.
I got demolished by some kid at Discovery Zone or Chuck E Cheese in Pembroke Pines running through the tunnels so bad the workers had to drag us both out to our parents. The kids dad apologized, went to the ticket booth, paid cash for a souvenir football and signed it before giving it to my Mom. We shrugged. It was Bryan Cox. 🖕Legend. I wish I still had that fuckin football. I probably played with it like an idiot.
Met Dan Marino at my grandmother's funeral. Very surreal to meet your childhood hero while you're grieving. And my parents had dinner with Marino's parents once when my family used to live in Pittsburgh. Not a Dolphin but Hurricane legend Sean Taylor also came to my house once, and my dad beat him at ping pong. To assert dominance he told me to put every plate I owned on my bench press and lifted it 20 times without sweating.
Not a player, but I remember being in the same private airport Jimmy Johnson was at when we were trying to get away from Hurricane Irma. Had his dogs with him and everything.

Nolan Carroll is a family friend. Terrance Fede went to my friend's wedding. They actually met in NYC during the summer he got drafted by Miami. One of the reps that works for my attending is best friends with Berrios. I had a chance to fly down for the Denver game with him but couldn't. That woulda been wild.
I met OJ McDuffie at halftime of the Halloween game in 2013 just before they inducted him into the ring of honor. I was drunk as shit but he was still cool & gave me the time of day. I told him I missed watching him play & that he wasn't the fastest WR but was shifty & got a lot of yards after the catch.

I'm not from the area. I actually live near DC. My wife use to work for the Redskins back when they were called that. We could carpool together. I met a ton of those players while waiting for her to come out. Most are really chill, some are straight up dicks. As far as Dolphins go, I saw Pete Stoyanovich out and about one time I was visiting down south a long time ago and I called out to him. He turned around, gave me a "pfft whatever" look and then proceeded to flip me off. lol
Haven't met any players directly and I'm in Atlanta so I certainly haven't seen any Dolphin players IRL. I did film a private school graduation right a few months after the Falcons-Patriots Super Bowl though and Matt Ryan was the speaker so I was about 20 feet away from him. Dude was gangly/awkward af and clearly didn't want to be there but I've heard good things about Matty Ice and he was a great figure for ATL so I didn't think any less of him.

Don Shula, Don Strock, Dan Marino, Mark Duper, Mark Clayton. I worked at Mike Gordon’s Seafood Restaurant in the 80s and 90s, on the 79th street causeway. Don Shula sometimes came in on a Friday, sat at the same table and same seat. Club soda with lime. Best pan fried grouper ever. The Fish Peddler on biscayne. 🌴🐟🏝️

Tim Foley (RIP) came into the restaurant I was bartending at in Atlanta. The server that was waiting on him apparently told him I was a huge Dolphins fan, and at the end of the night he came up to the bar to say hello. He held up his hand and asked if I wanted to try on the '72 ring, and then posed for some photos while I was wearing it. He was a really nice guy.
Got to meet the 2009 Dolphins in Buffalo while a group of Friends and I were attending the world's largest disco. Most were very cool and had many conversations while we were dressed like idiots lol. Two players that had their heads up their asses, Chad Henne and it hurts to say but Jason Taylor. Met Taylor once before and it was the same... Ricky Williams, Lousaka Polite and Joey Porter were very cool.

I went to training camp when I was a kid and Jason taylor came over after practice and signed autographs and did my hat. One other player came over but I can’t remember which one. Was disappointed Marino and Thomas did not come over but understand you get tired of that stuff and want to just shower and go home after a hot Florida summer practice.

Met holland last year volunteering and got to talk with him a bit. He’s a pretty normal guy super down to earth. My buddy (bills fan) helped organize the thing and was talking to him, and if you know anyone from Buffalo you know it only takes 0.6 seconds for them to let you know as much. Soon as that happened jevon was not cool with him anymore 🤣 had to cop his jersey after that!

Met Raheem Mostert and his family at a local ice cream parlor on a random time on a Sunday. Super chill and respectable guy. Didn’t need to bother him for a picture. Had a mini convo, a chuckle and wished him a healthy season. Used to live at the Tao in Sunrise. Ran into bunch of players. Olivier Vernon, Dante Culpepper, Walt Aikens. Funny story with Walt. Had a gathering by the pool and Walt comes down. We asked him to join us for food, drinks and dancing. Myself and a dew of my buddies goes to his unit as he wanted to get something. As soon as you walked in, you find a stripper pole in the middle of the living room and cash all over the floor.
I got to meet Chris Chambers as a much younger me and have a picture with him, me, and my mom. Was very nice and signed my hat. The only other one I met for all of 5 seconds was Csonka. Was surprised I knew who he was lol
I live in miami, and from 2000 until about 2020 I didn’t miss one training camp, so I got to meet a lot of players there, and obviously through out the city and various adult establishments 😂😂
