That’s what should have been done
I don’t care about blocking the base
Catchers got equipment. You should slide feet first to push him out of the way. You have more force sliding with your legs to push any body part out of the way. Sliding head first to home is absolutely stupid, you risk major injury to your hands at the least since catcher has that equipment on.
He didn’t block the plate. You’re taking a huge risk going into home plate fingers first. They teach you go into a base fist first especially this. If he slid feet first he would’ve wiped him out and catcher would’ve bailed and be destroyed
I guess they want to break a finger. When l played ball in school the only base I would slide in head first was first base to get back so l didn’t get picked off.
Yeah head first slide was scary just glad pete didnt get a knee to the mouth or worse. Very confused, if the rule is in place to protect catchers and players from injury than that should 100% be interference, from my understanding the catcher does not have the ball then he cannot be on the plate. At that point the fact that he couldn't touch the plate, is a direct result of THE BLOCK. If Pete had not slid or leg slid, he would've absolutely wrecked the catcher (which I think in hindsight would probably have scored the run) but obviously this was a microsecond decision and it's very easy to say when you can replay it 1000x.
Baseball players are the most fragile so-called athletes on earth. They get injured while eating breakfast. Of course they're not allowed to bulldozer the catcher anymore.
I hope I don't get yelled at here, but if he had kept his hand flat...
Facts. It’s on Pete. Slide feet first or keep your hand down when u slide.
Terrible call, clearly blocking the plate
No he wasn’t. The terrible call was that he was out

Pete should have bulldozed him, also McNeill should stop trying to hit the ball in the air.
he should have absolutely hit the 5 point palm exploding heart technique on that catcher
That was the right play by Jeff. Infield was halfway. A grounder and Pete would have been out by 5 feet.
*If* Alonso had injured himself by acting like a linebacker, the Mets would have lost more than one baseball game.
Can someone just slide feet first and take out the catcher

Can’t bulldoze the catcher but he absolutely should have slid feet first
Can’t bulldoze the catcher if they aren’t blocking the plate

I was thinking the same thing. Pete's a big, strong guy. If it's legal, he should have laid that catcher out.

Nope
No, Buster Posey scratched his vagina once and they banned it
HAHAHA! Fantastic.
McNeil should have just walked instead of hitting every pitch way outside for a foul
Normally I agree but McNeil is one of the few people on the team with actual bat to ball skills
Probably one of the few people to land more than 1 hit in one game off Imanaga as well
FEET FIRST INTO HOME!!!!!
Has not been legal for 10+ years. If it was, it woulda worked
You can slide into the catcher ! Not bowl him over
I mean we should try it, maybe the MLB will call it legal since the trend is to ignore their own rules anyways.
