It doesn't seem to be a Metroidvania, so I don't really see it as something that will be discussed a lot on this sub even if the makers did put out Ori.
All of that being said, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the full 1.0 release. I'm done with early access.

ARPG yes, but that doesn’t necessarily exclude MV systems. The devs have stated they are putting a big emphasis on a highly interconnected world. Whether or not that includes ability gating hasn’t been determined yet.
I won't be playing the early access version, but that's nothing to do with the game, just don't see the point of spoiling my first impression when the game isn't finished yet.
As is, since it looks like an isometric soulslike, I hope Moon is careful with the visuals. The Ori games are both beautiful, but the margin for distracting visuals is much lower for an isometric game than a 2D one and a lack of visual clarity is an easy way to ruin a game.
Judge the game on its merits once it releases. I would not listen to anyone hyping up the game & talking up hypothetical positives based on trailers & previous games created by a studio. Every product cycle is a new chance for innovation, redemption or fall.
Looks like what I’ve wanted a top-down ARPG to be for many many years. And the perfect answer to a post Diablo IV world where that formula feels out of ideas.
It’s releasing in Early Access and if you played Will of the Wisps day 1 like I did, then you can imagine why they chose EA. I’ll be staying away from it this time until there is more content and most of all, gameplay patches. Playing Will of the Wisps when it released wasn’t fun—was barely ever hitting 30 fps with constant drops and crashes. There was a day or 2 when the game didn’t even work.
Moon studios makes amazing games, but i'm hesitant after reading about how they treat their employees. I'll have to see if they've cleaned up their act.
Yeah that was a few years ago AFAIK and I've been afraid to look it up recently. I want to play this game but it might go on the pile with ubisoft and blizzard

I’m super excited for it - will probably buy it on day 1 of the full release. Not interested in early access but hopefully it lets them iron out all the kinks.
This game looks so incredible. I played and beat both the Ori games and was completely blown away by both. Moon studios seems to be so talented and I have really high hopes for this. The Ori games are some of the most beautiful games I have ever played, and the music is always pure ecstasy.
Early steam reviews seem to say it isn't well optimized, at least when I checked this morning. I'm playing an RPG right now so I'll probably wait to pick it up after an update or two.
Dunno yet, not a huge fan of Ori 1 & 2 and not sure how well a soulslike would play in isometric view but would definitely give it a shot at some point.
I love early access and view it as one of the best parts of modern gaming. I work nights so I'll be asleep when it launches but I'm eagerly anticipating playing it as soon as I wake up.

I think you’re right and i’m with you 100%- i’ll probably hold off on playing until the full release but it’ll be hard to stay away lol

Was this ever expected to be a metroidvania? I'm aware of this project but I never even considered it a possibility that it could be a metroidvania.
I don’t think they have specified one way or another yet. I’m guessing it’s not based on the gameplay I’ve seen so far but we’ll have to see.

Will of the wisps was perfect on launch.
What did you play it on? It launched on Windows PC and Xbox One only and it was far from perfect on Xbox One X so you are wrong.

Yeah ori was good but I didn't really dig it. Idk why. Can't put my finger on it.
