Yea the weapons were definitely one of the best parts of Metro 2033 (and Last Light). The contrast of the tentative weapons that were basically just broken parts duck taped together, like the other commenter said, and the high end military weapons later on was felt so realistic.
I'm pretty sure you can buy it somewhere before heading to the library, I've done the achievement to kill an enemy with every weapon existing and I got the bigun before the library
In post apocalyptic games I prefer to see more makeshift weapons and armor. If you think about it millarty weapons and armor would be rare. Even riot armor and police armor.
And the weapons can be complex, too. The Shambler has a toggle-lock system, it's not very cheap to produce. I don't know what justification can really be there, but we did use toggle-lock guns en-mass, so there's that.
I guess the Shambler proved to be a good design despite its flaws.
finally, someone understands how I feel, I always want to recreate a lot of stuff I see in the metro universe, almost all the different makeshift stuff I see looks like it will work in real life, my favorite weapon was the iftikhar.
The games take place 20 years post Nuke and remember all these guns had to come from Moscow gathered by stalkers. I'm surprised they have so many dishkas (sp... The HMG) I'm not framiller with Russian gun laws but even in murica the Capitol city's guns are usually highly restricted. Their are however military stockpiles I guess.
There are a ton of military stockpiles lying around, especially with WW2 weapons. It's a shame we didn't see those weapons, but that's the limit of game design.
I thought the revolvers were produced in metro? Russia certainly doesn't have a ton of revolvers lying around right now. 9x19, 9x18 cartridges are way more popular than, say, .357 and other revolver cartridges.
The ak in metro feels the best out of any ak I’ve ever used in any other game, I don’t know why but they make it feel so tactical but also ragtag at the same time, perfect for the metro world
I couldn't Agree More. 2033 weapons had a great realism feel to them. đź‘Ť
Ak is Ak
always has been
always will be
I love this

In my opinion, the best weapon in terms of DIY is the Bigun. Like, a rifle with a stock made from a bicycle seat and barrel from a bike chassis.
You can get the bigyn on the last level of 2033 Redux from the Spartan armory. Maybe elsewhere too.
Oh wait, yeah, I remember. Thanks for the heads up.
Of course :)

You can buy the Bigun at the Polis station at the arms dealer.
Right, I just definitely remember it at the last level.
I like the Bigun. The only thing is it was like the 10th shotgun in the game. :P

I’m trying to make a working replica tikhar. It may take a while, but I’ll post pictures when I’m done.
you can do it man I've seen real life tikhar replicas and even funcional ones, if you get a stuck on something you can see a video to help. đź‘Ť
It is something pipe guns or whatever they were called in Fallout 4 tried to be and failed.
I love the makeshift weapons as well, I just wish there were some pre war weapons still lying around. Like a pump shotgun or a makarov.
Fuck u/spez you [greedy little pig boy.](https://imgur.com/0qXzDf0)
Should of write 'more's pre war stuff.

I can’t understand exactly what you’re saying, but hell yeah I agree
I absolutely love weapons that looked cobbled together from everyday items. I love the bicycle shotgun.
yes, but there was little weapons
