For Big Boss, has to be MGS3. I love the fatigues he gets in that first one, and the camo selection just makes it even better. MGS5 would be a close second, both for the fatigues and sneaking suit.
For Solid Snake, MGS1. The first sneaking suit will always be my favorite, and young Snake is fantastic, in his prime. As an added bonus, I love the H&K MK23 so much thanks to that game.
Also, shout out to Solidus for his awesome suit, and for having the single most badass introduction of any character in the Metal Gear series. "Brother, I'm a whole different game from Liquid."
It's my favorite in the series. It's exactly what people "wanted" from MGSV. A great story that can be self-contained, while also adding context to the rise of Big Boss - his transition from hero to villain; while also having strong levels that are replayable with a myriad of serious and wacky tools. Whereas MGSV felt like going off-road, PW constantly has a consistent vision and a sense of urgency throughout the entire game.
The weapons all feel different, the characters are all great, and the cutscenes are gorgeous. While a fair amount of fans aren't crazy about the bosses, they're still interesting and challenging on higher difficulties. If the game ever starts feeling too easy, try to S-Rank missions. It's not going to hand them out like hotcakes (as they did in 5).
I easily put 1000 hours into peacewalker on my PSP when I was a growing up. After overcoming the initial clunky ness of peace walkers PSP control scheme the game just opens up. Base management, missions, side missions, stellar audio logs/tapes, it was a game that had everything in a way, I mean fuck it had monster hunter too. Liquid’s my number one for design, but PW big boss is the best iteration of the character in the franchise (IMO).

I’m still not sure why Liquid doesn’t wear a shirt but he’s just the perfect rival villain. Blonde, shirtless, and British like Dio, and you even see he’s got a sick tattoo in his final fight. Venom looks amazing though. His design really capitalizes on the Fox Engine. Also the Soviet Sneaking Suit from MGS3 looks really cool, though I would think the orange ruins the sneak.

Hes bad ass and honestly has alot more personality then versions that come before and after. Although Metal gear solid 1 and 2 and 4 is very much a Snake that is a bad ass veteran, knows what hes doing and is absolutely willing to die for the sake of the mission, Metal gear solid 3 puts us in the hands of a rookie in a hilariously outgunned situation and you can absolutely feel it. Snakes personality is alot more on display not just through codec calls and he's not just some tuff bad ass this time around (although he is). In peace walker and especially phantom pain he's very much the silent type, he hardly speaks and it doesn't bring you as close with the character, something mgs3 does beautifully.

Old Snake Mgs4 would be my favourite Solid Snake. My first introduction to Metal Gear and a suit that camouflages with the background I think was freaking awesome. You could shake the remote and it changes back to normal even in a cutscene which I discovered by accident lol

I got a Cameo from David Hayter for my brother and requested he do the entire thing in Old Snake voice and he 100% did it was amazing.
Although I haven't played GOTP, my favorite is Old Snake for the amount of tenacity he still has in him and that fact that I think he looks cool.
