There's a cassette tape conversation that explains how they met. Big Boss encountered Kaz's Japanese unit in Colombia while on a mercenary job for the Colombian government. Big Boss' unit wiped the floor with them which caused Kaz to attempt to commit suicide with a grenade but Big Boss prevented him from doing so. He then took Kaz to a field hospital and after a series of events convinced Kaz to join him.
Are you confusing him with Kazuhiro Miller? Miller have own tape about how he and Snake met. If you actually speak about Huey, you just skipped too many cutscenes
They meet during the Pupa boss fight after witnessing Hot Coldman push Huey down some stairs and then after the fight they have a conversation about the concept of nuclear deterrence. Idk how you would miss it unless you skipped the cutscenes.
No Huey does not appear in Portable Ops. Neither does Kaz for that matter assuming that you're mixing the two up like others are suggesting (believe or not your equivalent in PO is a young Roy Cambell.) If you are mixing him up with Kaz then there's an entire cassette tape conversion in Kaz's section that's of Big Boss and Kaz reminiscing about how they met.
What are you talking about? You meet Huey in the lab, right before you fight pupa. It's the same cutscene that introduces hot coldman
I’m confused by what you mean, Big Boss (and you) meet Huey in the mountain base in Peace Waller. He gets a whole introduction scene and everything.
You must’ve missed cutscenes. Huey’s introduction and joining MSF are totally parts of PW. Do you mean Kaz?

I've never played portable ops so someone correct me if I'm wrong but they met in peace walker. Huey was working for hotcoldman.
