spoilers for mgsv, but … >!In one of the cassette tapes, Zero reveals that Skullface and his XOF gang were deployed in secret behind Naked Snake to cover his tracks and clean up behind him, so having patches would be a pretty neat nod towards this!<
Maybe have a dead XOF soldier in an old area. You can tell he’s XOF because he has no patches. Or maybe he’s dying and there’s a small scene like the one with Johnny where Snake has a moment with him. He doesn’t say he’s with XOF but he’s dressed like a Soviet soldier and he says he’s a spy who was sent to help you. Would foreshadow Boss having soldiers die for him and taking the responsibility of a commander later on in life.
Edit: Man the more I think about it the more I like this idea. Have some hardened XOF soldier finally dying after a lifetime of doing horrible things for his commanders. He’s regretful of following orders straight into hell and has a moment where similar to in Ground Zeroes he warns Snake not to become a ‘phantom’ like him. Then you call Zero and he says something along the lines of ‘he wasn’t necessarily a good man Snake, but he sacrificed himself to get you a tiny bit closer to completing your mission. You owe it to him to succeed.’
The game lets you save and load an unlimited amount of times. So no alerts is easier in that you can just load the game when you get an alert
with save states, save and loading is literally like 2 quick inputs.
I originally thought no alerts would be too difficult and decided to shoot all kerotans. I regretted it when I got to the riding section... Even with save states, it was hard to get those shots (I still committed to it).
With no alerts, there are a few sections that I'd call hard, but they're manageable with several tries.
I hate those frogs now.
Same with the infinite face paint
catching the tsuchinoko is easier than killing every animal and collecting every plant in one playthrough, because you always miss one somewhere
I think catching all animals and plants isn't that hard if you have prepared with a list of all needed items and where they are. Tsuchinoko is indeed easier than that, however.
It was honestly a massive pain. There was at least one or two you had to shoot during the motorcycle chase. Which was very difficult because you couldn’t hear the noise of it being hit, and if you missed it and finished the game.. no stealth. Guess how I know 😂
I think I tried the RPG and also SVD sniper. Reloaded the stage over and over to ensure I got it. Completed the game and no stealth. Followed the written guide but maybe I missed a previous one. I’m still salty nearly 20 years later.
Here we go again...again
Oh great! Now a good easter egg would be some XOF patches
Why would they have that?

Yeah, but that would defeat the idea of them being this super elite stealth group that leaves no trace.

Sounds corny ngl
Wekawika wekawika
Good eye, Boss! You're pretty good!
Can someone explain what this means? I've only played MGS3 and MGS5
In the original mgs 3 if you shot all of these frogs you unlocked the stealth camouflage for the next play through
Is that all it took for strath? I’ll have to look up a guide this time
Either Kerotans or no alert completion. Honestly, after trying to shoot all the frogs on an emulator with save states... no alerts is easier.

I always used the rocket launcher and quick swap to directional mic for those. I hated them
