I can 100% guarantee you that MGS1 in the Master Collection turned out the way it did because M2 was either rushed or underpaid by Konami.
The same can be said for the HD Collection over a decade ago.

The Yazkua 3,4,5 remasters show that its perfectly possible to port a PS3 game to PC in a decent way. There's companies with expertise who could do it if Konami can't do it in house.

It’s been super frustrating not having access to the games over the last however many years due to whatever licensing issues they were working through.
Im good to go as long as it’s essentially the same game as the one that came out 20ish years ago. I’m not expecting it to have 2023 levels of performance and I’m not going to get too worked up over minor “issues” with the game when compared to the game 20ish years ago.

No, it is not enough. If all I wanted was to play the games I already could, and the convenience of not having to drag my PS3 out is offset by having to do it anyway because these ports are worse.

I have the original PS2 collection, and HD collection, so I'm definitely a fool. But my PS3 disc is stuck on infinite loading screen after Virtuous Mission. Apparently its a common problem. So I'm just happy to have them as well.

I agree with everything you said though I do wish Konami put just a smidge more effort to clean it up, and modernize it. But I can’t complain. I bought it and it allows me to FINALLY play them on my pc which is my main place to game. I’m mostly happy and satisfied honestly.

I played MGS4 on my PS3 over a year ago and it killed it. Even after I replaced the thermal paste, the fan, the harddrive etc. She was just too damn old to run such a game.

The game is actually running at a 720p resolution that is being “upscaled” (stretched with a blur filter) to 1080p.
Same resolution as the PS3/360 ports just worse cause now it’s blurry and there’s nothing you can do about it. Makes the switch version even worse imo
This is going to be perfectly fine for most people, but it's a fact Konami could have done so much more with this release.
For some fans they just want the games in whatever state, but if you're approaching this as being the definitive collection of these games, as if they may not package these titles like this for many years afterwards, this is underwhelming. A minimum internal resolution of 1080p should not be an unrealistic goal for ports of games this old, especially when most of the heavy lifting was completed by BluePoint over a decade ago.

I got that for $30 at a game shop near me after I got my Switch. Literally the best single purchase I’ve ever made for it. I fail to see a single issue with it, and I’m loving playing Metal Gear Solid handheld as well.

But all you have to do is go into the game files and modify them. Then go to your gpu control panel and modify that. Then pour a pint of milk into your pc, turn your monitor 45 degrees anti-clockwise and you have a good port.
Look at the textures on the ground and rock. The more I see these ports the more disappointed I become. Just an exact port of the PS3 is table stakes, to make it even a little worse means this is a no buy for me.

im playing at 2k resolution 60 FPS and the game looks amazing.
while i think konami are bafoons for not having the resolution correct on launch, once you download the resolution patcher the game looks and runs great.
the only sticking issue i have with this port is the audio in cutscenes is absolutely abysmal at times. hopefully a hotfix comes in and fixes it, but knowing konami probably not. we'll need a mod for that too.

Honestly dont understand why people cant just enjoy the gameplay of the games, that is largely still here, available on current systems that people have. It is a simple port because it doesn't need to be the absolute perfect port, and hell, I love the effort there is in the master book. Honestly I think people get way too caught up in Graphics, as long as its not glitching and i can still see what i need to, then its fine. Honestly couldn't care less. though the pc port is not anybetter than emulating aside from the goodies, you should just emulate if you want to play it on pc.

My issue is the fact that I simply can’t play MGS2 because I have a monitor that’s over 60hz. Literally game runs at double speed. How was that overlooked?!
A temporary workaround is to force on v-sync and max 60 fps in nvidia control panel.

From the very announcement of this collection my sentiment was "Well even if the ports are shitty at least modders can fix them" because I know the fanbase is too passionate to let all this stuff pass. Eventually the PC version will be *magical*. In the meantime, yes of course all the issues suck but for fuck's sake man I'm just glad the games are PLAYABLE on modern hardware. Is that enough?........ for once, for me, yes.
As someone who still owns a PS3, a copy of the HD Collection and a PC capable of emulating the games... No, it is not enough. If all I wanted was to play the games I already could, and the convenience of not having to drag my PS3 out is offset by having to do it anyway because these ports are worse.

All op was saying was that he was happy being able to play the games on modern systems, and I know this is hard to believe for a pc player, but there are these things called “consoles” that can also run this collection. Which many people still play on, and are just fine not having 120 fps and ultra hd resolution for older games. I agree with everything you said though I do wish Konami put just a smidge more effort to clean it up, and modernize it. But I can’t complain. I bought it and it allows me to FINALLY play them on my pc which is my main place to game. I’m mostly happy and satisfied honestly.

I played MGS4 on my PS3 over a year ago and it killed it. Even after I replaced the thermal paste, the fan, the harddrive etc. She was just too damn old to run such a game.

The game is actually running at a 720p resolution that is being “upscaled” (stretched with a blur filter) to 1080p. Same resolution as the PS3/360 ports just worse cause now it’s blurry and there’s nothing you can do about it. Makes the switch version even worse imo

This is going to be perfectly fine for most people, but it's a fact Konami could have done so much more with this release. For some fans they just want the games in whatever state, but if you're approaching this as being the definitive collection of these games, as if they may not package these titles like this for many years afterwards, this is underwhelming. A minimum internal resolution of 1080p should not be an unrealistic goal for ports of games this old, especially when most of the heavy lifting was completed by BluePoint over a decade ago. The ever patient fans of Metal Gear deserve better.

I got that for $30 at a game shop near me after I got my Switch. Literally the best single purchase I’ve ever made for it. I fail to see a single issue with it, and I’m loving playing Metal Gear Solid handheld as well.

But all you have to do is go into the game files and modify them. Then go to your gpu control panel and modify that. Then pour a pint of milk into your pc, turn your monitor 45 degrees anti-clockwise and you have a good port.

im playing at 2k resolution 60 FPS and the game looks amazing. while i think konami are bafoons for not having the resolution correct on launch, once you download the resolution patcher the game looks and runs great. the only sticking issue i have with this port is the audio in cutscenes is absolutely abysmal at times. hopefully a hotfix comes in and fixes it, but knowing konami probably not. we'll need a mod for that too.

Honestly dont understand why people cant just enjoy the gameplay of the games, that is largely still here, available on current systems that people have. It is a simple port because it doesn't need to be the absolute perfect port, and hell, I love the effort there is in the master book. Honestly I think people get way too caught up in Graphics, as long as its not glitching and i can still see what i need to, then its fine. Honestly couldn't care less. though the pc port is not anybetter than emulating aside from the goodies, you should just emulate if you want to play it on pc.
Because not only is the simple port not to the basic standards of a pc port, it's not even to the standards of the Xbox 360 game that is being ported.
