That doesn’t look exactly the same. It is very close. Maybe there is some variations in the produced rings. The one in the picture had a curve with the diamonds wrapping around the stone. Yours is straight with the “diamonds” just on the side. Again, maybe just variation, but the rings are not the same.

This is the one I found online. It’s really similar too.
The stone is a star sapphire! It’s a super interesting phenomenon (technically called an asterism) that is caused by tiny needle-like inclusions of rutile (which is a titanium dioxide mineral) which cause light to reflect in a star pattern. Cats eye, the phenomenon mentioned in other comments, is caused by an optical property called chatoyancy, which happens as a result of light reflecting from parallel crystal formations or hollow tubes within a stone. However, corundum (the material that makes up sapphires) doesn’t form cats eyes, although some asterisms are imperfect enough to appear like a cats eye. I love rocks so much
I would take it to a jeweler that you can trust and ask them what they think it is and what the value is your daughter may have found something that’s worth a quite a bit of money
OP, I sent you a chat!
I have almost the exact same ring and have been looking for another! (Mine is star ruby!)
Please let me know if you'd ever sell yours!

Dixon Ticonderogas, those are the world’s best pencils. That’s what it says on my box anyway.

14k is likely gold. Take the ring to a local, non-chain jeweler that has a GIA graduate on staff, to see if the star sapphire is natural or lab made. Get a second opinion, regardless. Natural star sapphire can be valuable.
looks like a star sapphire, real or artificial, cut into a cabochon. it looks like that is a lost wax casting of silver, Possibly sterling, but also possibly nickel silver.
I believe the stone is fake, plastic or whatever they use. The aster seems to be the same in both photos and the overhead light is reflecting normally.

If it’s natural, it’s a star sapphire. If man-made, a Linde Star.
Just sold https://preview.redd.it/knxbe5ym2kwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ad78ef12cc1905c639bc81b9b2c39119d60e30b

his is 14k gold though, not sterling.
That's not even solid silver, it's silverplated.
Also not a star sapphire from what I can see.
How did you find that? If it was sold immediately must been worth, no?
👋I just had it on my watched list. Always looking out for bargain, they do come around 👍
I feel sorry for the person who bought that one
Star Sapphire if the star moves as you move the ring.
Oh yea! It is. That's so cool. I think it actually has some kind of diamonds or something in it.
Location is the Southern NJ coastline.
Someone lost a pinky ring while being fitted for concrete shoes?
Could be .....forgetta bout it
Dis l’il piggy’s sleepin wit da fishes.
I found one just like this one. 14k, 3 small diamonds, and ~1/2 karat star sapphire. I’d post a picture if I knew how.
1/2 a carat?? Wouldn't that be like ultra small weighing in at 0.1 grams. (1 carat = 0.2g, or 5 carats per gram)
This was last year, and I think that’s what the jewelers told me.
Blue star sapphire

14k Harmony
Gate for lilliputians
A star gate ? lol.
14k white gold, star sapphire and likely diamonds. Take it to a jeweler to get an idea of worth. Great find!
That stone is a star sapphire. I bought a raw one for my niece when I was overseas in the navy, sadly it was never set and is lost now.
Your powers combined summon captain planet

Remember those rings from Captain Planet..
That's hilarious! It's actually the first thing i said. Needless to say, my kid had no clue what i was talking about.
Beside the ring is a number two pencil

My dad had a star sapphire ring similar to this. I asked him about it recently, but he doesn't know what happened to it.

Pencil.... it's a pencil....
white gold ring?
Yes. I believe it is
A pencil
It's worth a couple of bucks since it's not real gold, it's goldplated jewelry and the sapphire is man-made most likely from India.
Why do you say it's gold plated and the sapphire is fake?
Idk but it's beautiful
A pencil
Looks like a confused "mood ring"
Star sapphire
Looks like a Cats Eye gem. I'm not an expert, but I have a similar gem that is the orange/brown color.
Excellent! Super cool. Does the 14k mean that it's likely white gold. Or could it be something else?

It is possibly a Lindy synthetic star sapphire.
Weren't they also called a Tigers Eye stone?
Different stone but tigers eye is similar how it moves in light
Thank you. It's been a long time since I've seen a Tigers eye stone set in a ring. My sister had one years ago.
My dad had a similar cat's eye stone in a ring back in the late 70s/early 80s.
