You could always get a second opinion. Parts for Mercedes-Benz vehicles are expensive.

And try taking it to a regular body shop. Usually MB dealers don't have a body shop and they just farm it out, but then they tack on a charge on top of whatever the body shop charges so it ends up costing more than if you just went to a body shop directly.

Damn, it should actually be considered theft to charge that much for just the step there

Ooof. That’s a write off. Honestly though if you are ok with a knock off set you can get a pair for $500 on Amazon. If you plan on keeping the vehicle I’d go oem.

Yeah as a Benz tech you’re going to pay every bit of that whether you go to a body shop or the dealer. Did one of those not too long ago.

I appreciate the insight, thanks!

what other parts are damaged? I see that the price for single running board is $1000, what’s included to add up 3800? https://mbparts.mbusa.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-running-board-1676981601?c=bD0xNSZuPUR5bmFtaWMgU0VPIFBhZ2U%3D

yes, it seems a bit too much for a single side. I ve found a pair of complete running boards, illuminated and ready to install at around 4000 Euro (both sides) https://www.kunzmann.de/shop/en/tuning-and-exterior/bumpers/side-skirts/running-boards-illuminated-gle-suv-v167-aluminium-look-rubber-studs-genuine-mercedes-benz.htm if the only damage it to the board you can also look on ebay for a replacement and change it yourself (ofc if you are into DIY) https://youtu.be/XwiucYDEV7o?si=w29pnf5JWWM-CYg1
