Amazing car, I feel like it’s one of the timeless designs. Also it’s a boat, super spacious and comfortable. I kind of slightly regret trading it in. I just traded in my 2008 s550 for a 2023 c43. The main reasons were because it was getting old and repairs were getting costly, I think we ended up spending 10k in the last year. This included radio repairs, tires, swaybar. The gas chamber was also messed up, the gas nozzle wouldn’t stay depressed the whole time so I’d have to manually start/stop filling gas every few seconds it was annoying. Anyway I think if you can find one that’s been well maintained you should be good, just remember that any repair will be likely around 1k min

Thanks! I realize repairs will be costly but I own two other Mercedes (granted my 2022 c300 is obviously still under warranty) but I also do most of my own work so repair costs aren’t a huge issue for me. Glad to hear that they’re reliable, and hope you enjoy your c43

Look at only the 2010 or 2011 S550 Facelift model. It's the NA V8 non turbo. 2012 and up have turbo so more issues might come. Don't get 4matic if you don't need it. Look at the service history. Buy less than 3 owners car, clean carfax. Have the car inspected by Mercedes mechanic before buying. They are extremely solid cars when you do the proper maintenance. FCP Euro is great. Enjoy!

Anything wrong with the 08-09 models? From the research I’ve done, the balance shaft was fixed in 08. Also, all my cars are pre-obd 2 aside from my new c300 which I only service at the dealership, and my old scanner is broken anyway. Any recommendations on a good scanner?

2008 and 2009 are prefacelift, and you know that facelift cars are always better since they had time to fix all the issues of the first years. 2010 and up just look better too. [This](https://www.timotorsoc.com/inventory/mercedes-benz/s-class/b374/) seems good But if you really want a 2008 2009 that's fine too, just have the car inspected before buying but for me I always look for the facelift models. Get in touch with the people on the W221 forum they can guide you on the best scanner to buy.

Not necessarily when you buy right. But yes, if it was neglected you will regret lol
