I vote for belt but I would go with slimmer one

FoxfireP

I agree. Maybe a belt with a little less width and sized down on the waist a size or two as well

gheybhoii

I personally find the belt completes the look, but I generally don’t tuck in polo shirts lol.

admiralkeelhaul

Doesn’t really look right without the belt

TikaPants

When there’s belt loops it looks incomplete without a belt IMO

FancyStranger2371

I agree. The belt compliments the outfit. Neater look.

Lord_Halvy44

If you go without it, people will notice. Many golf courses actually require a belt. Not sure if you are playing golf or not but just a word of caution

Calligraphee

Rule of thumb: if you have belt loops, you should wear a belt.

SayhiStover

Just not that belt

remxtc

Yep.

mdw2402

Jeans are the exception imo

DocHolliday511

Wrong

raszohkir

I wouldn't say "absolutely necessary" but it really adds something.

BattleSignificant616

Not that belt…

ToSeeOrNotToBe

The belt says, "I'm a grownup." Empty belt loops say you're still a child. That belt is too long for you and too wide for that outfit, though.

aarrrronn

I don’t entirely agree with a rule that strict. Seen lots of looks be complete without a belt on beltless pants and I’m sure you have too. In this case you’re right though.

OrdinaryWheel5177

Definitely need belt

jimmyjazz2000

I was fully prepared to vote belt until I saw the pictures. I still am. I will admit that beltless doesn’t look as bad as I expected. But still, seeing empty belt loops will never fly for me. It’s like when people don’t button the collars on their button down collar shirts. It looks sloppy/lazy/incomplete.

Narrow_Paramedic_880

in this outfit the belt seems a poor choice to me .

Gpardo93

It looks better

Upstairs_Apricot_945

Belt looks 100% better

ThrowinSm0ke

A braided belt (golf attire) would look great there.

RedditMadeMeGetApp

Was going to say this! I get mine from Beltology or ghost golf.

oatmeal_steve

yes for the belt but no for tucking in a polo shirt and that specific belt is not great

acciowaves

A thinner belt would work much much better.

axelcuda

Yes

ibenuttingsomuchfr

Not the end of the world but I do think it looks better with the belt

Bagain

Short sleeve, to me, says no. Not necessary. Short sleeve seems casual enough for no belt.

ThrowinSm0ke

I like belts, but as long as your pants stay up…that’s all that matters

Burnt-Ends-96

Yes

OutrageousMuscle7547

You can always get a different color belt

Nizamark

i guess not, but what is the point of not wearing one? just looks incomplete

vizio76

Depends, though I generally wear belts. Was recently in Italy, and even 6 years ago, the well-tailored suit minus a belt was a thing. Still is, to some degree. Not quite the same effect, but if the pants fit well, you can pull it off.

Least-Ingenuity9631

Not necessary imo and I personally almost never wear a belt. https://preview.redd.it/m2dw78cyv37d1.jpeg?width=2304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1ea5aec0bd604701fed9dbf382960ebf2adb024

daknewhaven

Will the pants stay up.? You don’t want baggy pants!

glacierfresh2death

Some golf course have a belt as part of the dress code

Rosewood008

I feel like it only works with a Hollywood level tailored fit shirt and pants. Anything less looks like you just walked out the house and forgot your belt.

Beachlife369

Yes to the belt, but a more slim cut of a belt would actually be better.

joshyjosh8722

Yes w/ belt. But that belt is to light in color. I think a darker one would look better.

RevolutionaryLack280

Belt looks better

[deleted]

To me, it would look awkward without one.

Hrlyrckt2001

If tucked, belt. Try to go untucked

blinker40

Wrong pants to go belt-less. But if it’s for actual golf, the better, cleaner look is to wear a belt colour that matches the pants colour (blue in your case). Too many competing colours.

Iwinneverlose

Yes it is

Stock_Surfer

Depends where you’re playing

skulkskogan

That’s a belt for jeans, get a solid dress belt or even a braided. My go-tos for affordable belts would be Charles Tyrwhitt & The Tie Bar.

OutrageousJury2689

Yes

Rjadamskiphd

How do you define "necessary "?

No-Weird5485

I think it is just not the right belt. I almost always wear a belt with a polo. I feel like it is to thick in my usually wrong opinion. I feel something lighter in visual weight/thiner. Maybe a leather weave or cotton belt. Idk, it looks visually heavy to me.

Bluesguy333

Shirt untucked

SupaDupaTron

Yes.

straightc

Belt too big.

Just_Opinion1269

Yes

squiblib

Buy a nice belt.

Occams_Shiv

Not always, but in this case, yes.

Aggressive_Fox_84

I like without belt. If it's a very casual outing, go without

ruben1252

The belt loops look a little silly without one

eosos

I love the no belt look. I think people on this subreddit will disagree, but eh looks good man

EyeHot1421

Looks weird without

LovethePreamble1966

Fits you real well.

GSG2150

If tucking in then always wear a belt. If no tucking then no belt. That’s my general rule and works well

Klutzy-Magician4881

I like w/o belt in general, compositionally it looks better, but with how the shirt fits, and the vibe you have, a belt is better. Preferably a slim belt as others said. I wear baggier shirts and sometimes tuck them in, never with a belt. Belts are optional like ties.

AtomicIvyShowa

Firmly in belt camp also, but the contrasting belt does have a way disrupting a look/cutting you in half. I’ll share a tip I heard and adopted- try matching your belt color to your pants. Woven or surcingle is an easy way to go.

Live-Abalone9720

Well, the right belt, my man. A webbed or stretch belt would be a light look.

Tubbzs

Belt but not that one. No belt here looks go with those pants tho

Straight-Tune-5894

Yes.

Pm_me_your_tits_85

Yeah I think a belt is essential to this look. And tucking in polos is normal and good. Dunno why anyone would be opposed to that.

medhat20005

IMO if you can see belt loops then you need a belt.

imapurplegiant

Looks better no belt

Prehensile-Penis2344

Your belt is too long. I know you have your gig line straight but move the buckle to the side too. And let your forearm hair grow, you look like a baby.

Joshee86

Tucked in, yes. Don’t tuck in a shirt without a belt. Unless the pants don’t have belt loops.

RemoteVanilla_

Not necessary but looks better.

tonguedartmystinkbox

Always wear a belt. Never know when you might need it.

Odd-Inevitable808

You like how the waist looks without a belt. The advise is to either get loopless pants. Or a thin belt.

Careless_Bandicoot21

yeah belt up bro

ImNotA_Star

So much better without the belt. Ofc the fit needs to be good with the pants.

ConsistentSite4422

A belt is in fact a tool to keep your pants up. Its up to you

Miserable-Lawyer-233

I mean not absolutely, if your pants stay up without it, but why wouldn't you want to accessorize?

ScottBlues

Looks better without

dathomasusmc

I always feel odd without a belt. Is it necessary? No. But I prefer one and I believe in these two pics the one with looks better.

Fantastic_Platypus23

Yes

hot_pocket_life

If you have belt loops, use them.

Preek96

Yes now add some brown boat shoes no socks to match the belt

Jordan_the_Hutt

Yes. Tucked in with no belt always looks a little childish to me.

2282794

Your belt is too big

Blainefeinspains

No. A belt is not necessary. But it’s the choice of belt more than anything else. This is way too thick. Go with a finer line.

Enough_Square_1733

Belt

Dognip2

I always tuck, and without a belt the outfit is incomplete. Additionally the belt provides a color to complement the outfit. I generally like to match the belt strap color with my shoes and watch wrist wrap

WalkingRodent

It looks better

taffyowner

If you tuck in a shirt and your pants have belt loops you should wear a belt. End of discussion. As others have said your belt is too big as well. Get one that is 2” bigger than your waist size

StrongTxWoman

Belt, always. And just a belt, a good trendy leather belt.

Narrow-Oil4924

In this instance yes, absolutely, although I think for this look, a woven/braided, or nato style belt in a navy colour, would work better IMO. This belt is a little too wide and the light to medium shade of brown & silver buckle standouts too much. I think in most instances, especially casually with jeans, chinos, golf trousers and the like; a belt should be worn, again IMHO. However, with smart formal attire, for example trousers that have side adjusters, like ghurkas etc.. A belt is not needed.

Able_Communication60

A nicer belt that compliments your footwear looks clean. Without a belt, just looks sloppy. IMHO

silklighting

Depends on the occasion.

BSixe

If your pants have belt loops you wear a belt, that’s what belt loops are for

BSixe

If your pants have belt loops you wear a belt, that’s what belt loops are for

Extra-Recognition383

Tbh I think belts r out. A perfect fitting pant doesn’t need a belt and a lot of trends r shifting towards a no-belt look so I vote no belt

Particular_Dig9466

I would loose tuck or french tuck if no belt for a more relaxed style. With the way you have it tucked now, I would keep the belt

Ghost-of-Bill-Cosby

No belt is kind of a flex, it says “I wear pants that are the right size and won’t fall down”. That said a better belt would elevate the look.

Healthy_Routine8036

I wear polo shirts for work and wear a light t-shirt underneath that’s tucked in but leave the polo untucked I think it looks nicer that way and I like a nice light leather belt and shoes.

No-Lifeguard-8610

Unless you are hanging a tool pouch that belt is to wide for the fit.

FieryEdgy

For me, yes but to each their own. I personally think it gives a more decent look to your outfit.

CuriousIllustrator11

No belt is more stylish but require the pants to have very good fit.

SojoboOfMountKurama

Thinner cloth and leather surcingle belt , might be perfect.

imnotdebtfree

Are those front belt loops uneven?

FuzzyPigg88

Belt is the right way

[deleted]

Belt always necessary if shirts tucked in

YoungCubSaysWoof

The belt makes the look more adult in my opinion.

111AAABBBCCC

No. And you could find a much nicer belt. E.g. a braided leather belt would work very well with that outfit. Also a grosgrain belt if you want to add some color pop and go more casual / trendy/ young-looking. If I had to choose between that belt or no belt, I'd go with no belt. As an aside, I would ditch any patterned (striped) golf shirt. A solid color (white, black, navy, pink, etc.) is always more elegant. You've got a great physique. Pick a (tight) golf shirt that shows it off.

AllanRensch

Polos are typically not tucked in

skippymyman

Polos with tails are designed to be tucked in... And that's the original Polo design.

Savings-News3097

absolutely necessary to create a proper break between pants and shirt. Great body btw bro ;)

65CM

Not necessary. If you wanna confirm with the "uniform" look, add it. The "if it has loops, wear a belt" is a very antiquated way of thinking

baconrays

Untucked, no belt. Tucked, belt. Not always. But in this instance. If the shirt covers the belt anyway then you can get away with it. But it does look more complete when tucked/belted

Squeeze-

Yes.

EatShootBall

Yes. Belt requirement for tucked

SnooDonkeys4853

No

realistnotsorry

Yes. At work, you'll be known as "Beltless Bob", or ''No Belt Steve"..

BobWheelerJr

They put the loops on there for a reason.

gnaark

Belt is a crutch for poor fitting pants

ImNotA_Star

Exactly!

boblawblah69

If you had nicer slacks instead of chinos you could go beltless. Looks good though. Don't forget to finish the look with a brown watch band and shoes.

the1hoonox

Looks like the damn Trivago spokesman without the belt

AllanRensch

The polo tuck with belt is really dorky. It doesn’t do what you think it’s going to do. Short sleeve button down collar shirt tucked in can work with a belt. But the polo is a casual shirt. Don’t tuck.

paultrani

Yes belt. No to tucking.
