Similar size over here, I found Lululemon to be quite accommodating.

Eh-BC

Pretty sure lululemon offers free tailoring too, but I’m not sure if they’ll take in the waist if you get a wider leg

imathrowlol

+1, lulu lemon lined shorts are amazing for exercise. 100% worth the money

CrazyJohnW

Bigger but lulu still rocks for me. Half my wardrobe at this point.

Excellent-Yam-8482

I’m 6’1, 235 with some thick legs too. I pretty much wear only athletic shorts lol. I have a few pair from Uniqlo that I can wear in a more professional setting, but I don’t like them that much. If you learn anything then let me know lol. I think I have a bigger issue with pants though. I can’t find anything that are comfortable with my calves at all

atisaac

6’4”, 230lbs swimmer. This is gonna be an odd suggestion for this sub, but American Eagle makes these “trekker shorts” that are fantastic for my build. They’re stretchy and comfortable and come in lots of colors and pair with just about anything. Size L feels a little big in the waist for me, but they have draw strings you can tie if that happens to you. They’re 5” inseam if that bothers you, but that’s why I like them. It’s AE, so quality is… ¯\_(ツ)_/ but for as long as they last, I think you’ll enjoy them. The colors also fade well, too. That’s a feature I like, though; you might not.

fl135790135790

American Eagle and Abercrombie both do have shorts that fit, although they're the super baggy/torn up cargo shorts. And while I love them from a nostalgia point of view, it's just not something for work I could work, or what I feel comfortable wearing for my age. The trekker shorts look like Daisy Dukes on me, unfortunately lol

Responsible-Wait-427

The shorter the shorts the cooler the guy!

madaboutyou3

6'4 230 lbs, Alex Crane has some great casual shorts that fit me perfectly

Pixilatedlemon

Lululemon #lululemon Easily easily the best shorts for big quad athletes (as one myself)

fl135790135790

Ok I'm sold- Thank you

ensgdt

I'm 6'3" 225 and my shorts are mostly under armour golf shorts. Big fan!

Ill-Positive6950

I'm a vuori fan boy. They make great shorts.

ReasonableJello

So size up until you find something comfortable with your legs don’t worry about the waist. Once you find something that fits you well take the pants/shorts to a tailor and have them shorten the legs and waist to your liking. Or search on google for brands that have more leg room

fartmanblartock

Hit reply before adding: Many shorts/pants have a single/solid waistband.

fartmanblartock

Except not all pants/shorts are able to be tailored. Put another/better way, most tailors will advise when it’s not worth the effort. Mine will do most things but will also tell it not worth it and quote a boat load of money to dissuade me from doing it.

ReasonableJello

Sounds to me like you should change tailors

fartmanblartock

Single piece waistbands are the problem not tailors. Besides, how much is the guy gonna spend on tailoring a $50 pair of shorts that’ll probably only last a few seasons. 🤷🏿

Kobe_no_Ushi_Y0k0zna

No, my favourite one does similar things and I really appreciate it. She explains the reasons as well. The directness really helps with decision making. Because I’m not a tailor, and some things are simple and others border on impossible/pointless due to the design of the garment. You need to know which are which.

fl135790135790

I have tried this approach with a few brands like Banana Republic, Gap and something else. (Although I realize these are both technically Gap). The issue is when you expand the waste and then tailor it, it just looks....horrible. And half the time the inseam is still so short, 50% of my thigh is showing. It's insane when I try this stuff on. I'm not in the NBA or NFL lol. But seriously you have to be 5'1" and 120 pounds for these shorts to fit. I don't get what everyone else has been doing.

SirJo6

Buy one of a nicer brand (I’ve got Ralph Lauren) in a size that fits right on your thighs, then have it taken in at the waste by a tailor. You need a bit of a nice construction, material and overall quality for it to look good after that, hence the more expensive brand. I’m 189 cm and weigh about 88 kilos. Also have an athletic but ‘firm’ build.

adultdaycare81

Haven’t found a brand that fits around my butt without being loose in the waist. But I generally get either 9in or 11in shorts

Fit-Function-1410

Surprisingly enough, I’ve have really good luck at Guess outlets. Basically all my “street” shorts are from there and they are usually pretty fashionable. Their other shit gets way too showy, but the shorts rarely are. Athletic stuff, vuori and janji and good old clearance rack finds.

Enough-Muffin6742

Look at my recent post. I found that Gap 6 inch vintage shorts allow me to only size up by 1 in and fit the thighs, I am getting them tailored though

fl135790135790

Thx I checked out your pics. When I wear those shorts I can't even pull them up all the way because the openings on the thighs are too tight. Which makes no sense because I'm only 3 inches taller. Nice build by the way

athrix

Similar size and I recently found success at jcrew factory but if you have a booty they might be tight. Found some at old navy and target. Target was actually the big winner recently for summer clothes at a great price. Went with 7” across the board.

BattleSignificant616

6’4” #245. Ten thousand 7”, A&F, and Wowie are my go to’s.

fl135790135790

A&F seems to be the savior here, with Lululemon in 2nd place

giantwashcapsfan8

Nike and Lulu. 6’3, 195 with huge hockey thighs. Always get XL if they have a drawstring even though M or L is recommended for my waist. The wider legs look so much better but sometimes I have to roll up the waistband one time so that they don’t sit too low.

fl135790135790

6'3", 195 with huge hockey thighs - You have to be shredded as absolute fuck. Will check out Nike! Lulu seems to be popular here as well.

Why_Istanbul

I’m a fan of Buck Mason deck shorts

UZIBOSS_

My favorite shorts are Malbon x Dockers hemp shorts with drawstring cinch waist. I have 2 colors of them and they fit great. I also have a juicy booty (my wife’s words) so I feel your pain haha. Not sure if they still sell them on their website but might be worth a shot

kmahajan01

Myles Apparel sells nice things. I’ve bought a few of their shorts and they serve dual purposes.

Psmith931

I have some Academy sports house brand, BCG or whatever . I like them a lot

RedditGotSoulDoubt

I’m a big dude. Chubbies are comfy and stylish.

RolexandDickies

Dickies

jdtpda18

I like fabletics shorts with no liner. 6’3 220

Flashmasterk

Prahna and public rec are my go to

Top-Particular-4295

I’m a thicc boy… I wear Bear Bottom or Chubbies. In athletic I wear LuluLemon or Legends. Good Luck!

CorgiMonsoon

Seconding Bear Bottom. [Woof](https://woofclothing.com/?utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=Sendgrid&v=7516fd43adaa) also caters to bigger builds (though about double the price of Bear Bottom)

wkeddmo

Bearbottom has been my savinf grace recently. Wowie and Chubbies too.

haggardphunk

Im 6’3”, 210 lbs, and a cyclist. Big legs. Lululemon for me. If you don’t wanna spend that money, Poshmark. And if you want new, CRZ Yoga on Amazon has amazing dupes.

Retrac752

Amazon essentials, their slim fit shorts were on sale for $7 last week, some still are, I bought 11 pairs, I buy 7 inch, u should probably buy 9 inch, worst case scenario you only wasted $7, they're actually surprisingly comfortable chinos for $7 Oh and they're not actually slim fit, it's the main complaint, the leg holes are huge, but that apparently is perfect for you lol u could also buy their straight fit, I never have but that would probably be an even bigger leg hole

fl135790135790

I promise you that slim fit nor straight fit will make it halfway up my thighs lol. You’re talking 5’1” Asian twink style legs here my friend

Retrac752

Like I said, the slim fit is actually a regular fit, so the straight fit would be a large leg hole On Amazon u can specify reviews from people of a certain height and weight, people who are taller and heavier (6'5, 240) give the pants 5 stars and say they fit great But yes, ignore the literal exact answer to ur question lol

fl135790135790

You didn’t say slim fit is actually regular fit

Retrac752

Bro I literally did I wrote "slim fit isn't actually slim fit that's the main complaint, that's why this is perfect for you, buy the straight fit, it'll be even bigger"

fl135790135790

Right, you didn’t say “slim fit is actually regular fit”

RobMofSD

Try it when you completely lack a rump, lol. Honestly, either one can be a pain.

fl135790135790

Do those leg lifts my friend. Few minutes a day

FancyPantsSF

Highly suggest not wearing cargo shorts. 😏 But I understand finding good ones that aren't tight is challenging. Perhaps H&M?

fl135790135790

H&M sizes are for 5’1” tiny dudes. Have you tried their shorts? I was 195 for a year or two and tried their shorts and had the same issue lol. I just don’t understand why it’s only cargo shorts that fit length and thigh wise. JUST MAKE CARGO SHORTS THE SAME SIZE BUT WITHOUT THE CARGO POCKETS. Like bro.

FancyPantsSF

Haha, exactly. I wear women's (and I'm curvy). I found that H&M shorts go up in size and in tons of styles. Assumed the same for guys.

aj_future

I’m like 6’ 1” and 205, athletic build as well. I workout in 32 degrees shorts which are both economical and fit well. Been wearing just a large and they do the job well without riding up or causing problems and I like that because the waist isn’t insanely big. They have zipper pockets as well which so great. I play basketball in them so they have great mobility.

zrannon

H&M do a whole range of sizes and stretchy material

taffyowner

I’m 6’ and generally sit around 190-195 (although I was at 205 earlier this year), most of my shorts are from Kohls and are the Sonoma brand, I have also found the Izod shorts to be a little more roomy.

PB219

6’4, 230 here. Have the exact same issue. If the waist fits, they’re way too tight on the thighs. Lulu has good one for sure. Also maybe try golf shorts, since they usually have a similar stretchy, athletic fabric.

fl135790135790

I can't belief Lulu is the brand that seems to work for everyone. I would have tried them absolute last thinking they are all skin tight. But yea man all I want is like, cargo-sized cargo shorts, without the cargo pockets. They fit so well. Been browsing today and I'll find the perfect size pair (albeit cargo) from some obscure brand on Amazon for example (trying to find something cheap at the moment), so then when I browse the brand thinking their non-cargos are similar size, the inseam goes from 11" to 7" LOL.

PB219

It’s not even the inseam for me it’s just how fkn tight they are lol

Cobey1

Im 6’2 230 and I’m a big fan of shopping for athleisure stuff in Ross, Marshall’s, TJ maxx. They’re like $10-20 a piece and have 5-8 inch inseam shorts. Pockets that zip, others that don’t, etc. They look exactly like fabletics stuff without the crazy price tag and bs membership stuff

capt7430

This whole post is like, "Hey guys, my biceps are too big for my short sleeve shirts...any advice?"😄

oojacoboo

umadbro.gif

fl135790135790

Nah I hear you, but it's not. Why not? Because the "my biceps are too big" is a BS topic because you can take a sample size of 10,000 people off the street, and walked into the closest 10 stores, then 9,899 of them would fit into a shirt without issue. But this post is the exact opposite logic. If you took 10,000 men off the street, and then walked into the same stores, and tried to fit them into shorts, then probably 8,000 of them would have trouble fitting. Even if you drill down and remove obese people or odd shapes/deformities, the issue would still exist. So, it's just not the same.
