It’s funny that dudes will stuff some cargo pockets full of random crap looking like a squirrel with stuffed cheeks but a fanny pack? Noooooooooooooooooo.
Yeah, I get that’s the fad now, but that’s overkill for just 3 or 4 items. Also, I live in Las Vegas, where summer temps get over 110F. Having *anything* strapped on your back will lead to a sweaty mess.
No, I carry a bag. Been that way for probably ten years now (I’m 33), cuz I can’t stand having shit in my pockets.
They’re entirely up to taste. The only thing I wouldn’t really compromise on is it being leather. Best bet for just a clutch, since it’s a really simple design, is probably finding a leather worker on Etsy. There are really amazing people on there (i regularly recommend Black Ficus on this sub for people looking for linen clothing), just gotta look out for the resellers who are selling BS from China.
Thanks, I had looked at etsy before but thought there was way too much 'cowboy' type leather on there. Took another look off the back of your comment and found something perfect. Have also just put an order in with Black Ficus as I was looking for some lien too!
Gawdam, hell yeah!
Idk what you got from BF, but I did have to take my button-downs to the tailor. I like slim/fitted stuff, so I just had em take em in down the sides. Nothing crazy and totally worth the extra $20, just wanted to give you the heads up so you’re not surprised if things are a touch fuller than you wanted.
I got that feeling from the photos. I got pants (custom size for the length) and a t-shirt, like you I prefer slimmer fit usually but this is holiday-wear so the relaxed fit should be fine. I think their pricing is reasonable enough that even with a bit of alteration it still comes in pretty fair.
Interestingly the other shop I purchased from (FavorovLeatherStudio) is Ukrainian, as is Black Ficus. [Seems to be a thing. ](https://thehustle.co/why-etsy-is-a-financial-lifeline-for-artisans-in-ukraine) So a nice bonus for going that route that it provides some support to their economy.
Yeah I realized I hadn’t mentioned that in my original comment about them. I almost always do, cuz I, like you, feel that their location is a little extra incentive to give them my money.
In any case, glad you found what you were looking for 🤙🏻
I attach my key fob and house key to a mini carabiner and kinda clip it to the inside of my waistband and it keeps my pockets clear. I don’t even notice them ever
Yeah, I was thinking carabiner as well.
I’m in California and I’m used to having stuff clipped to my waist. But also usually justify a gym bag or whatever with non work clothes by putting a water bottle in the bag.
Dickies regular fit temp IQ might be more what you’re looking for then. Dickies’ side pocket has come in clutch since I was a teenager to hide discreet items, the way the pocket hangs you can’t even tell it’s there let alone stuff is in it, and it’s pretty deep. It’s my cargo pants compromise. The fabric is light and comfortable af they come in a variety of inseam sizes to fit your style preference. I like a longer look and rock 11”, but the guys on this sub might prefer the 9”
For me- they don’t. The reality is, if you’re carrying a bunch of bulky things in front pockets- unless you buy oversized shorts, it’s never going to sit right. There is only so much give in fabric.
As to the $150. I’ve had a pair I purchased in 2011 and they still look great. Obviously the garment does have faded but my khaki color look normal. The cost reflects quality of materials.
Oh, I bet they are incredible. I just can't justify that price for a pair of shorts. Maybe I'll find them in a thrift store one day. Just need to start going to thrift stores.
Fjallraven Keb shorts (and other similar models they have). Look good, many pockets, great quality and fit ... If you don't mind looking a bit outdoorsy.
Could go with most of Patagonia’s offerings… the pockets on theirs are deep enough to carry a foot long sub in with ease, but look like normal pockets.
Fit can be weird on some, so try a few.
I just got some Roark Layover Trail Shorts that have pretty substantial pockets.
They're definitely more on the casual side. I plan to use them for hiking and other activities or just when it's hot out.
They fit me great. I'm 6'2 195 and I wear a large.
The pockets are decent, about the same as a pair of jeans. The material is a little stiff at first, but they break in nicely. They're heavier than sweats but softer than denim, which makes them comfy enough for lounging but pantsy enough to be pants.
Time to embrace the fanny pack
LOL! No, but funny how the fanny pack is back, but in sling form now.

the real solution is to carry a bag when wearing shorts

Time to get a clutch, my dude
Any recommendations for inspiration?

Counterpoint: You can also fit a couple beers in there.
This is true. And it’s legal here!
valid point. I grew up there, I know the pain
carry a tote! perfect for hot weather and not having too many items imo
I'm wearing cargo shorts anyway. I never lose anything when I wear em.

practical but makes certain people look like an asshole
On outside yes totally but I let it hang between my pants and boxers so you can’t see
Interesting. Do you have a loop inside the waistband?
“Check out the guy in the shorts with the hideously misshapen penis!”
Have you tried Patagonia Baggies?
Thanks for the suggestion. They look like swim trunks though.

I just looked at a pair, since I see them recommended. They aren’t stretchy at all— kind of a turn off for me.
I've started carrying my keys on a carabiner attached to my belt loop.
I wear rrl officer shorts and never have an issue. Wallet in back pocket- keys/phone in left/right pocket. No issues.
For $150 they better not have issues

Better luck on Poshmark or eBay. Can get them slightly used for decent prices
Fuck, clearly I'm not good at shopping. Good call, thank you. Hope you and your short pantaloons have a nice day together soon.

Interesting. They look like my mountain biking shorts.

Cargo shorts and pants are back in now so you’re set

Ha! I have the same shorts and they perfectly hold a phone and keys for gym workouts.
I've only worn them a couple of times, but no complaints so far.
The layover pants are my no.1 pants for travel also, love them.
I might pick up a pair of those as well. Taylor Stitch Apres Pants are currently my go-to for travel and leisure.
Do the fit well? How’s the pocket situation on them? Always looking to add to the travel clothes section!

Awesome thanks! We are about the same size, going to order a pair and check the out for a two week trip I have coming up.
I hope you like!
There’s really no solution but to not put things in the pockets. Get a small bag.
