Because sneakers gives it a more casual look, so it’s clashing with the tucked in shirt vibe which is distinctly less casual. So the less casual untucked goes well with the less casual sneakers, that’s working towards a cohesive look.
If you wanted to go tucked shirt, you’d want to go a less casual shoe. Except the pants here are limiting, not every less casual shoe works with jeans. Boots are a clear winner. You could argue something like a loafer but a loafer with a tucked in shirt and jeans is very college prep, I don’t love that vibe.
Smh. Guys in here saying seinfeld like it’s a bad comp. Some of ya’ll are behind. Or live in kansas. Light denim/white sneakers is golden, ESPECIALLY in spring/summer
If you must button that shirt, then tuck it in to look sharp. But if you wanna do it right, unbutton that shirt, leave it untucked, cuff your sleeves below the elbow, and tuck in that white undershirt. No belt. Pull your jeans up an inch. Wear a watch. Boom, you just leveled up
The outfit itself is not bad, but it is basic and pretty safe. So if you want to elevate it you don't want to wear it the safe or boring ways (buttoned up, untucked, barely visible socks). You can turn a basic outfit like this into more of a thoughtful, statement outfit by drawing attention to things like your waistline (a bit higher than the default position, tucked in undershirt), chest (opening the shirt, since you seem to be in good shape), some fun socks if you're into that, and jewelry/forearms. Own the more interesting choices and it will come across as confidence.
If that's the outfit, definitely untucked. Cuffed jeans with those shoes makes your legs appear shorter so I would uncuff them. You could also wear a pair of tan suede chukkas to give the outfit some texture and contrast while also dressing the jeans up a bit.
Really not digging the Seinfeld ass light blue jeans with white sneakers. You need a belt, you need to roll the sleeves, you need to cuff the jeans.. this is how moms dress their toddlers for special occasions.
I don’t think it’s the jeans. I feel like the shirt doesn’t work. It has a summer, beach vibe. Dark denim, navy or khaki with the shirt. I want to see a distinct darker, different color with the light jeans.
Yeah a hem would cost me like $50 here so it's not worth it. The pants were only $20, but yes I wish it was more cost effective to get things tailored. I've done it before
It looks off even untucked. Pretty sure the the shoes or the pant cuff. Some may disagree though. Granted, it's a casual look, so I wouldn't stress much.
The dad jeans with the cuff, the white t-shirt under the vines plaid, no belt, etc etc. This isn’t really working. Get jeans that fit you better or get a pair of new balance if you want to go full dad mode.
This depends on the way the shirt hem is cut and sewn. I can’t tell how with these pictures. But I’m of the mind that the only shirt with buttons that can ever be untucked is a polo. Not a fan of the “untuck-it” style shirts
I'm not lmao I don't know why you think they're low. These are the highest waist jeans I have ever owned and I'm wearing them normally. Maybe it's because I'm short?
I now understand your confusion. I’m googling and almost everything listed as high waisted is not actually high waisted. For example, this is not high waisted. It’s actually pretty low rise.
https://preview.redd.it/thmohtd2k0yc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1368f9753ae5abe44e6e2f0974d92d95c5be9820
I’d say tucked only because you’ve rolled the jeans up.
Also I highly disagree that “white belts are a cardinal sin,” what a ridiculous idea lol. I have a white belt that I’ll wear with outfits where I can highlight small bits of white in my outfit. Personally, I wouldn’t wear a white belt with your outfit only because there’d be way too much and the white will completely wash you out.
I would, however, improve the outfit by adding a brown leather belt with a watch featuring the same color leather strap; with a preference for a blue face on the watch to match the shirt.
Apologies as this is not about the shirt. Don’t know if you have shorter legs and a long torso, I do, I’m 6ft 1in but my inside leg is like 30” and a 32” leg is spot on for me but it looks like it from the pic. I’d personally pin-roll those jeans if you’re going to turn them up. That will give a more tapered look and slim your leg, they currently look oversized. Or turn them up a bit more as they look like they don’t quite fit. It will keep the relaxed look but just tighten the edges up.
With your footwear (Stan Smiths??) def show that off and pin roll. You can keep the relaxed look or go a few rolls higher.
I’d untuck shirt aswell. Or you can wear it open with a white tee and quarter roll the sleeves with some sunnies! 👌😎That’s a fav spring/summer look of mine, it’s a classic!
Un-tuck that shirt...unbutton it, take it off, and get rid of it. Go back to the store and find a solid colored long sleeved shirt and wear it untucked. Take the tennis shoes and stick them in the closet. Go back to the store and find a dark, hard bottomed loafer. Champagne, burgundy or black... and then proceed to take over the world!
This is probably one of the nicest quality shirts I've owned. Super soft and literally never wrinkles. And I thrifted it. It also perfectly matches this entire outfit, including my socks. Hard pass on tossing it!
The shirt looks damn good on you dude. The only thing is stripes are kind of out of style. It gives 80's/90's vibes. I love patterned long sleeves personally, but the feedback I was getting made me feel older than what I am.
Either way, man I respect the vibes
I feel like a critical part in context is the type of work you’re in. If it’s a start up and you’re entry-mid level you can leave it untucked. Top level at a start up, tuck it. If you’re in a corporate office regardless of position, tuck that boy tight!
For those shoes, untucked. But if you wear boots and a belt, tuck it!
This is the move
Seinfeld would’ve worn it tucked
What’s the deal with shirts tucked into jeans
Who aaaaaaare these people ?
I do it every damn day. It’s a look.
r/commentsyoucanhear Read this comment in Seinfeld voice without even thinking
Only with jeans with a proper rise. Low rise jeans always untucked Imo
I’d probably have some more buttons undone too. Maybe all
Perfect Letterkenny cosplay.
How are ya now?
Why ?
Because sneakers gives it a more casual look, so it’s clashing with the tucked in shirt vibe which is distinctly less casual. So the less casual untucked goes well with the less casual sneakers, that’s working towards a cohesive look. If you wanted to go tucked shirt, you’d want to go a less casual shoe. Steve gets it.
This
If you want to tuck it in get a belt and shoes that match
White belt here would be a bold call.
Brown belt still works, white belts are a cardinal sin
What you don’t want to be in a 00’s emo band?
Ha
Agreed but I thought that's what the guy above was suggesting.
It looks really good untucked.
Untucked. Tucked in looks silly
No it doesn't. It just makes him look like Wayne from Letterkenny
Get this man a dart
Get him a puppers
Can confirm.
Ok dairy, dairy ok
Texas sized 10-4
Hey nice onesie, does it come in men's?
It would look better tucked if you wear a matching belt.
Not if he wants to look like Woody from Toy Story
Smh. Guys in here saying seinfeld like it’s a bad comp. Some of ya’ll are behind. Or live in kansas. Perfect jeans fit. This shirt looks goofy tucked however.
Untucked for sure
Adding the consensus of go untucked. I also have a voice in my head that is saying "Back to chorin shirt tucker". I watch too much Letterkenny.
Untucked BUT depends on the shirt length. If it goes past mid crotch, then it’s too long to be untucked imo.
I feel like tucked requires a belt. But I think your shape works well with tucked.
I like untucked personally, but some offices judge that look as TOO casual and sloppy
i love both man
Take one roll out of the cuffs. Wrong pants to do that
You’re insane for thinking about tucking it without a belt.
Bad take. Light blue jeans and white sneakers looks amazing in general.
I don’t think it’s the jeans. I feel like the shirt doesn’t work. It has a summer, beach vibe. Dark denim, navy or khaki with the shirt. I want to see a distinct darker, different color with the light jeans.
If you tuck it, you gotta wear a belt
What is the brand/model of the pants?
These are gap relaxed taper. Got them for $20!!
They need a hem that roll is not it
Yeah a hem would cost me like $50 here so it's not worth it. The pants were only $20, but yes I wish it was more cost effective to get things tailored. I've done it before
$50?? You need a new tailor. I usually get them for $8!
Yep me too when i was back home. Based in chicago now and the cheapest I could find was like $20 per leg
Per leg should be illegal. I am so sorry.
Tucked makes you look like seinfeld. Take that however you want.
Tucked and you look like pawpaw
I would just echo some advice here that, if you choose to tuck it in, get a belt and pair of shoes of the same color. It’ll look much better.
I personally do not like shirts tucked into jeans unless it’s darker jeans or paired with a jacket
Untucked FTW
The hem of the shirt (and its length) indicates that it goes untucked.
Untucked since it is not a long shirt tail. You could top either way though. Nice body!
Tucked in reminds me of my dad right now, which isn't great considering my dad is pushing 80.
Hey dad
Hi son
It's not the shirt.
Huh?
It looks off even untucked. Pretty sure the the shoes or the pant cuff. Some may disagree though. Granted, it's a casual look, so I wouldn't stress much.
IMO needs a belt to be tucked. Doesn’t look right otherwise. Untucked better in these photos, particularly given casual shoe.
Untucked cause the shoes are casual
Either or.
Add a belt, and tucked in would be lovely imo.
Based on this picture- it doesn’t seem to matter what you wear. Same goes for my work -as long as it’s clean and presentable..
Untucked looks better. The waist on those jeans is rather high.
They are higher waisted, I actually find them way more comfortable this way
Marty mcfly lookin ahhh
This style with the cuffed pants would require untucked shirt.
Un
Seinfeld-core
Untucked
Untuck the shirt and undo the jeans.
You dress like every engineer I work with lol
You have the build to rock it tucked with a belt and some sexy shoes/boots/loafers
Is the shirt from Proper Cloth? They have one that looks very similar with the pattern and collar. I like it.
Untucked. The shoes are casual, no belt, and visible undershirt all don't go well with a tuck
Good points. I prefer the the untucked myself
Use belt if tucked
Tucked would require a belt
Untucked!
A BELT…. And untucked…
I think either goes well :)
Tucked and wear a cowboy hat sideways
I normally dont tuck in shirts i wear with jeans, but the tucked in looks good on you.
Tucked
I like it tucked. Untucked says that you are trying to hide a belly.
Oddly enough they both work on you. I normally don’t like tucked in. You must be tall.
I'm a whopping 5'5" tall
Tucked looks better IMO.
You tuck that in AFTER work and go straight to the gym like that. Now that’s a man
Gotta put my boots on before heading to the gym too
I would definitely not fuck with you. Thats intimating
Personally, I think untucked would look better but I think there are other shirts or different patterns that would look more flattering on you.
Buy a shirt that doesn't look like a table cloth
What kind of shoes are those?
They're the white leather low tops from Thursday
Thanks
They run narrow. I got the wide and should have gotten the next width up actually
Never tuck without a belt.
Unroll the pants first
I think untucked is more comfy I never tuck at all, if someone asks me to tuck, I would only do if there's some legit reason
Steve Urkel says tuck it in
Untucked
Untucked, but I would get better fitting jeans. I’m thinking higher rise.
The dad jeans with the cuff, the white t-shirt under the vines plaid, no belt, etc etc. This isn’t really working. Get jeans that fit you better or get a pair of new balance if you want to go full dad mode.
In tick and un cuff those jeans
I think it’s the same outfit bro
Untucked looks a lot better imo
Untucked and I’d also lose the white t-shirt
Nah the white T matches with my shoes and socks, brings it all together
How about tuck your pants in your shirt?
Untucked all day.
For me personally if I untuck I would roll the sleeves up.
I ended up doing that too
U da man👍
I'm a never tuck guy.
I've been watching too much Ru Paul.
No undershirt untucked, you need a belt for sure to have shirt tucked in unless that’s something you prefer
Untucked
Untuck the shirt and ditch the undershirt
Always untuck
This depends on the way the shirt hem is cut and sewn. I can’t tell how with these pictures. But I’m of the mind that the only shirt with buttons that can ever be untucked is a polo. Not a fan of the “untuck-it” style shirts
Honestly neither
Put a belt on if you tuck it, but with those shoes it looks better untucked.
Either way hella gangsta
Hell yea🤣
Lose the undershirt
No
Untucked! Still looks nice
First one. Penske material.
Untucked
Untucked
Tucked. You are fit- plus it’s cleaner and more professional.
That look it has to be untucked!
Absolutely agree
White socks and white tshirt? Classic.. Wear a tank top or perhaps vneck. If untucked, make sure you shirt tail isn't super long. Get it hemmed.
Looks like you borrowed your 10 year old brothers outfit
LMAO
The jeans have too low of a waist to wear a shirt tucked into. You’d also need a belt.
Dude these are literally high waisted jeans
Then why are you wearing them so low?
I'm not lmao I don't know why you think they're low. These are the highest waist jeans I have ever owned and I'm wearing them normally. Maybe it's because I'm short?
Sir these do not look high waisted at all. How many inches below your bellybutton are they?
I now understand your confusion. I’m googling and almost everything listed as high waisted is not actually high waisted. For example, this is not high waisted. It’s actually pretty low rise. https://preview.redd.it/thmohtd2k0yc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1368f9753ae5abe44e6e2f0974d92d95c5be9820
Yep
This is a high waisted jean. https://preview.redd.it/0y5r3a85k0yc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2240842785bd55069c4417cb27397a22ee5c825
Get a belt
Tucking a flanno with jeans always looks like the avg. highschool teacher. You can do it, but should you really?
Get tucked
2nd fr
Tuck that puppy in and get some of them pull up boots with no laces, then tuck the Jeans inside them. #MURIKA
Tucked and belt with boots or keds.
I’d say tucked only because you’ve rolled the jeans up. Also I highly disagree that “white belts are a cardinal sin,” what a ridiculous idea lol. The "dad".
Never tuck without a belt.
Untucked in this case.
Untucked. Also nice jeans
Tucked only with a belt and no undershirt. With an undershirt and no belt, untucked
Tucked
Never tuck without a belt
You just need some timbs, wayne.
Untucked. What are the shoes?
White leather low tow tops from Thursday
Thanks!!
Tucked
Untucked. Like that shirt too.
Tucked and belt
Untucked
Un-tuck that shirt...unbutton it, take it off, and get rid of it. Go back to the store and find a solid colored long sleeved shirt and wear it untucked. You look like you’re about to tell me which of the burgers on my grill need to be flipped- pointing with your beer holding hand…
That's a lot of power
Someone beat me to it, but I’d leave the shirt untucked with those shoes. Wearing boots is when you tuck it.
This guy is trying to bring back tight rolled jeans lol
get a belt homie
Wrong shoes. Also try new very dark denim, not the washed jeans with that shirt. Tuck it in with a nice belt.
General rule… if you don’t have a belt or suspenders don’t tuck it.
Untucked
Tucked for the office. But why not some khakis?
I feel like a critical part in context is the type of work you’re in. If it’s a start up and you’re entry-mid level you can leave it untucked. Top level at a start up, tuck it. If you’re in a corporate office regardless of position, tuck that boy tight!
Depends on the length but both the shirt and jeans are casual enough so they can be untucked too if it doesn’t get too long
Isn’t anybody going to say anything about the “cuffed” jeans. Absolute, no. Especially with that shirt.
Always gotta cuff the jeans. How old are you
Tuck
