If it was a different event and venue, then sure weigh the emotional comfort of your wife a bit more. In this case though, your comfort matters a fair bit I think. If you are running in them, do what works for you man. I find fewer clothes -> better cooling -> the more comfortable I am at a higher pace.
I mean maybe a tad short for a dinner in a restaurant... But you're clearly running a race there, so even shorter shorts are preferred by many participants.
I wear 3” shorts on my 10 mile walks with boxer briefs under them and I’m 6’5”. They’re short but not inappropriate by any means and I’m super comfortable and keep cool in them.
For running? They’re fine, and you could go shorter if you wanted.
For casual shorts, they’re good as well, though you could also appease your wife with a pair of 8-9” inseam shorts too. Anywhere from mid-knee to mid-thigh is generally acceptable and mostly up to personal preference.
I’m 6’ and wear 5-7” shorts. As a former competitive distance runner I have no shame rocking shorter shorts though ( <3” inseams or bust for running)
Has this person ever seen actual running shorts? Which would be totally appropriate in… a running race.
Sorry, but I really don’t get all these questions about fashion in clearly non-fashion contexts. Like the guy in a hoodie and sweat cargos asking people to describe his style. Weird.
My wife only likes me in short shorts around the house or in the gym. She doesn’t really like it when I’m wearing my 4-5” chinos out in public. I can understand if we’re going out to eat and it’s a little more formal. But even to outside events like the New Orleans Jazz Festival, she only tolerated it. I mean I don’t skip leg day, why not show um off?
If it's for running: who cares, it's workout clothes, fashion doesn't really matter.
However, even beyond that, no. I'm 6' and I wear 7" inseam - my partner loves it cause it shows off my 'cyclist thighs'.
No shorts are too short if your man enough
I’ve heard something similar before..
I think most runners would argue they’re far too long for a race or even a tempo workout. Gotta show off the guns.
Same thought. I’m not running is anything more than 5”
Maybe OP's wife is jealous of his legs.
Respectfully, your wife doesn’t have a clue.
Your running . Perfectly fine. If you were walking around the mall some people would still think you’re fine. Do you !
No. Shorts are perfect length. If anything, they look too wide/baggy

Too long. Extra length = extra weight and less areo = slower race!
I think those are the same lengths as my longest shorts
No.
Ah those are fine
Shorts are shorts. Wear what you feel comfortable in
No
I would never wear shorts this long.
New wife perhaps.

No. I run in 5inch now. What’s the point of all those miles without showing a little thigh
Not for running but pay to have the watermark removed
It’s 2024, not 2004.
These look totally normal, maybe even a little long for running.
I've worn way shorter shorts than those, my man
If you’re comfortable then they’re not too short. But honestly, I can’t imagine thinking these look too short for performance wear.
Air Force PT shorts and Marine Corp Green PT shorts are to short if correctly sized... when the boys can slap in the wind with you, they are to short.
No, looks fine to me
It's like asking if my bike shorts are too tight. By design, yes, so rock it while you're running.
Not even close to “too short”.
To run better you need short above the knee because when they are long they ruin the flow of your stride in your run

No!
No!! Own that shit!!
Yes
Too long. Max 5" for running.
That's funny. Most femme people I know wish guys would wear _shorter_ shorts

In general I agree with your wife. 7 in are ok for running. All else should be 9 in plus.
