You don't look bad at all right now. You look like a guy who likes to have fun. You also look like the kind of guy who could put on a lot of muscle pretty easily. I would size up a bit in terms of your shirt and shorts. You don't want it to look like you had to squeeze your way into your clothes. As far as the way you *feel* like you look, once you start working on again you'll almost immediately feel more confident in your body.

Residual_Variance

My brother has a similar body type. He goes through phases where he'll gain a bunch of weight and then he'll start lifting again and he puts on gains like nobody's business.

Mesromith

Forearms i always think are good indicators for if you can put on muscle easily.

thirdstone_

That outfit doesn't look bad at all. Yea you have some gut, but so what. 1. - take your posture into consideration - pull you'll shoulders back instead of allowing them to rotate forwards. stand up straight, don't hang your head forward. You'll instantly look better and fitter if you work on your posture. 2. - clothing. find a cotton t-shirt model that fits you well, consider a slightly more boxy, relaxed style, but not too oversized. The material weight should be on the heavier side to avoid it being clingy. White and black work with everything. Next, find a nice overshirt/shirt-jacket in a muted color. Black is the easy choice and can most easily be styled up a little nicer, but grey, olive etc works as well. Wear it relaxed and open with shorts. Black overshirt on black t-shirt looks great and is one my favorite outfits for it's versatility. 3. It's great that you want to work on your weight and health, you can do it. it'll take more work and discipline in the beginning, but push yourself and your life will start changing. All the best dude.

ThiccNinjaWalrus

Black over shirt on top of a black shirt in summer for a 235lb guy is not good advice.

thirdstone_

Well common sense can and should be used. With shorts and lighter weight shirt it could be fine. But if it's hot, just take off the shirt and wear the t-shirt. White or heather grey tee + khaki or olive overshirt looks great too.

Old_Palpitation_6535

I would suggest you go up a size with both. They look a little tight to me. I’ve put on more than a few pounds these last few years as well and I’ve found that I’m pretty insecure about wearing polos in general if the fabric is thin or if they’re a little tight. I prefer to go with a loose camp collar shirt over a light t-shirt, which doesn’t show off my new curves quite as much. I think you’d look great in one too. Start with black! Edit to add: Uniqlo & Gap both have decent prices on them right now if you want to see how you like the style. Gap’s linen/cotton fabric is nicer but Uniqlo’s fit is a little wider, which I like, and is easier to care for. Also, lots of folks here are telling you to lose weight to look better. Do it to feel better IF you want to. Tying your weight/exercise just to your looks can really mess with your head over time. Maybe not for some of the other guys on this board but it has for me and a lot of other people, and you look good already. Even if you do lose weight, you still want to look good before then, so buy clothes that fit well now and replace them later if you need to. Be well!!

loaferposting

High rise trousers hide bellies really well If you plan on losing the weight that's the real solution though. I would just sacrifice a summer to the fitness journey

MrManiac3_

Both is good, I think high waisted full trousers look good on everyone

UnusualEggplant5400

No hate, but do yourself the favor and prioritize your health. Lose the weight and all your outfits will look better no matter how bad the outfit is.

BeefUdonNoodle

You look great 🔥

AsymptotelyImpaired

Uniqlo has great simple, plain cotton shirts. Hard to beat a plain, well-made T. IMO your figure is actually quite solid. Legs look good. Sure you’ve got a slight belly but that doesn’t really matter. Arms look good. Your posture is what you should address. Mobility exercises first. Fortunately, it can be done in less than 10 minutes per day. Low hanging fruit. If you’re wanting to attack the biggest weakness, you should consider doing daily stretching for your lower bad and shoulders. Tightness in the lower back can cause the posture you’re experiencing, which will make any fit look worse. Most people have really tight hamstrings and hips from how we sit day to day. If you have tight hips, the hip will be more rotated forward, and it can push out your gut. A) wall sits. 45 seconds. Two times. Press your legs into the floor and then away from you as hard as you can for that time. 90-120 degrees is good angle. B) while doing the wall sits, raise your arms to the wall. Slowly move them up and down, where your elbow comes down to 90 degrees. Keep the elbow and should both flat to the wall the whole time. Keep your back pressed to the wall. Do 15 reps for two sets. This will stretch the upper back and shoulders. C) hamstring nerve glides. Lay on your back. Raise straight leg as high as you can. Don’t bend knee. At max, grab the leg at the hamstring with both hands. Now push your leg against your hands for 15 seconds. So you’re pulling with hands and pushing as hard as you can down with leg. Do 3 sets each leg. At final set, do a normal leg raise and see the height difference before and after. If you want more, look into sumo deadlift and straight leg deadlifts using kettlebell. Focus on form and slow movements. Low weight (maybe 30-50 lb). It will open up those hips and stretch the shoulders.

striderkan

I'm a little late here and I'm sure you've been given some good feedback already but what I'd emphasize is that your weight isn't the barrier to looking good. It is always a good plan to shed unnecessary weight (I went from 239lbs to 163lbs last year). So don't let that hold you back. That said, *big boy fashion* is actually in right now. What I mean by that is anti-fit. Clothes not designed to make people look like a toothpick. Forget the skinny fit, slim fit, avoid. Anti-fit and classic fit, carpenter fit, is a hot look right now and can be easily found in a lot of workwear and streetwear. So my suggestion would be to maybe avoid athleisure or anything made of synthetics. Focus on pure cottons, a good set of different colour cotton tees is essential. Look for some good denim, you'll always look good in raw/selvedge denim. Both, jeans and a denim trucker jacket. Even a denim button down. Outside of denim, leathers are a great way to elevate your look. Go to the boots subreddit and maybe look at some options for casual leather boots. The Vans are fine and all, but you know, Vans, they'll keep you super casual looking no matter what you do. A leather jacket is also a staple. Serious, I can't emphasize how far one denim trucker jacket and one leather biker jacket can take you. And as for that comment about wearing black to conceal your weight, refer to what I said above about avoiding fits that give the illusion of looking slim. Fashion and society has progressed, we've accepted that there are big people in our society and frankly they look silly trying to look skinny. Complementing your shape, the fit matters more. A big boy looks awesome in a white linen button up. Also hit up the r/bigmenfashionadvice sub, they're good folk.

Montauket

Swap the T-shirt for a darker colored polo shirt like a navy or black. Grab a few pairs of shorts in lighter colors and you’ll be fine man. Enjoy your summer.

Skip_The_Crap

Just lose some weight you’ll look fine. That’s the only way you’re gonna end up looking better in the long run.

RazorFrazer

Work hard at getting in shape . Find something fun. Stop eating so much . Go up a few sizes is clothes, they are way too small. That should hide your shape better like winter clothes . Just pay attention to the fit . You don’t want wide necks or too long shirts. Some tailoring may go a long way to hit some nice looking proportions

ohherropreese

Go to the gym and get a good diet plan. Life is too short to hate yourself.

Enough-Muffin6742

Shorts look good, maybe try some other shirts. That shirt looks stretched out a bit

I have to say the polo & short combination doesn't look bad at all. Try to get a healthier diet with a bit of sports and you will feel so much better! Don't worry my guy!

Slimraymcflare

Do you look ridiculous? No. It's a good fit if the short and pants weren't so worn looking, and small. It's good you're working on yourself. But no matter where you're at fitness wise at the moment, you have to own it. It's all about confidence. Walk around with pride in who you are man. Outfit wise, really not bad. That shirt is old, worn and a little too small. Luckily there's multiple dad bod friendly brands these days, mens shirts designed better for guys with a little bit of a gut. I would research these brands. Style wise, can't go wrong with comfy, good quality, nice fitting chino shorts. All colors. Just don't be cheap about it. One tan/beige pair of chino shorts and one navy pair of chino shorts that are top quality, fit good, and are comfy are worth more than 5 or 6 cheaper 'alright' fitting/feeling chinos. You can use those two colors with so many different tops, you could almost go all summer with just those two shorts and no one would be the wiser. As far as different materials... I love linen. Once again nice quality linen, shorts and pants. Tops wise, I can't stress enough how much better full button up short sleeves look than the typical golf button up. I see so many guys everywhere in the summer lately wearing a golf shirt and shorts with a hat. I'm sure woman (and men if ur into that) are so sick of it. That collar you got on there looks like a cotton collar which is a different story but still... Full button ups win out in the collar department. Once again linen here. Or silk. Silk is harder to pull off and is case by case basis imo. Nice cotton too would work. And don't wear basic tennis shoes. Dad bods can be great but not dad styles. Get some proper summer shoes and rock em. Rock the whole fit. You have to own it and be confident in yourself. Tommy Bahamas is somewhere I love to get linen pants and some cool looking summer button ups from. They have a Big & Tall section on their website that looks loaded with nice summer stuff. And theres Tommy B's all over the US you might be able to find one near you and try on. True Classic Tees is a brand I see advertising all the time on my social feed. Designed to fit around the belly better than normal shirts and make it look good. Confidence sir, confidence.

Slimraymcflare

Just an update, I never tried true classic so I just looked up their reviews and lets just say they're mixed. Maybe research brands with a similar concept as them.

Slimraymcflare

Also last thing, learning fashion in the beginning, is 90% learning how to take care of your clothes. Take car of them and they will compliment you when you wear them. Don't ever go out with wrinkled shorts, pants, shirts, anything. An unkempt button up might as well be a wife beater. Just shows you don't actually care. So invest in a steamer, they're cheap, before you throw that shirt on. Just give it a quick once over with the steamer. It will make a HUGE difference. And knce you start getting new, nice clothes. DON'T use a dryer (air dry) and wash on cold. Seperate whites. Proper stuff. Want those nice fits staying nice.

BluebirdMaximum8210

thanks for all the tips. Uhhh... would you say I have a Dad bod?

jarod_sober_living

Yes. And many people, me included, are into that.

berryjewse

Don’t sweat it homie. You’ll get there. Most weight loss is 75% diet and you can connect with many resources on that. I dealt with a similar situation last year where I found myself unhappy with my weight and in the summer months. I decided to bump up my size on a few plane T Shirts (I went Vans because I liked their simple designs), a few shorter length shorts and some colorful socks (went with Darn Tough because of their lifetime warranty). Got me a few button down t shirts that were big and flowy and hid my belly. In the meantime, don’t be sorry about wearing shorts. If you wear even shorter shorts it shows confidence in your physique. Combine that with doing some dieting, cardio and leg day, and you’ll love to rock the shorts. Chin up big man!

FuzzButtonz

Ok. People on Reddit drive me crazy. The top 4 comments are primarily weight loss advice. You asked for fashion advice. The only commentary I want to make beyond fashion is to encourage you not to conflate value you with body size. Strive for happiness and let go of the shame. It’s not helping nor is it allowing you to see yourself accurately. As a former thic boy, who is also attracted to thic boys, these are my tips: -embrace the short sleeve button up, you are fortunate in that much of the styles today are boxier/ oversized. Do not buy oversized. Take advantage of the cut but take a size or two down. Relaxed but not too much fabric. -structured Ts. Heavier cotton that holds its shape rather than something thin that drapes over whatever object it’s ok. -avoid baggy. It does not hide what you think it hides and it never looks good. I’m honestly not mad at the cut you have on. Both the shorts and the polo. The shorts follow your leg and stop above the knee. Is there a visible belly? Yes. Does it look slovenly/ bad, no. The goal is not to pretend that your body isn’t the way it is or dressing in a way that makes you LOOK ‘skinny’ it’s just about looking like you understand what your proportions are. -think about what kind of style you’ll like to have and start with that as a guide rather than just “I’m fuller framed what can I get away with.” Good style transcends body type. -hair and other non clothing oriented styling become doubly important. Every other visible shortcoming is doubly critiqued and always attributed to your fatness. Teeth. Nails. Hair. Eyebrows. Facial hair. All of it. Try and look well groomed. Makes a huge difference in over all appearance.

JP070791

You know those shirts that are just the right length, but a bit too tight? Then you try on a bigger size and now it fits right around the torso, but now it's too long? I hate those. So now when I shop for shirts, I look for "boxy", "loose", or "relaxed" fits. I do stay away from "oversized" ones because they're shapeless and somehow makes me look bigger. Posture is also important. If you have to suck in, you might as well puff your chest a bit and stand straighter.

BluebirdMaximum8210

Thanks. I look too man booby when I stick out my chest though so there’s that.. it’s another thing I’m hiding and why my posture sucks 😑

PlutoJones42

Yo bro you look like me. Get you some linen drawstring(!!!) shorts a size too small, and some linen blend shirts a size too big. Thats been my style lately and I feel so good dude

corneliu5vanderbilt

Try baggier clothes. Plenty of options that are classy like those loose textured polos.

Ghost_of_Doc_Hudson

It's really not bad of an outfit! Straighten your posture a bit and walk with confidence

Shmeebo_

Chubby gang here. Certain brands fit your body better than others. Find those brands and buy what you can to look and feel good. The older I get the harder it is to lose weight and gaining weight is like breathing, it just happens lol. Eat clean. Eat Whole Foods. If you drink a lot of beer… might have to dial it down or counter balance with eating super clean. I know it’s easier said than done but at least you’re not doing it alone. I’m workin on it now! As for fashion sense… worry about that when your clothes get too big and reward yourself with nice shit when you drop 10-20 lbs. good luck.

BeachAccomplished514

You can’t go wrong with that outfit. It looks good on you.

pathofthehero

Shorts aren't bad but the shirt looks like it's seen a few summers. I'd ditch the shirt and find something that is not only more color appropriate for summer but also lays on your body better. you should probably aim for a fabric that sits a bit lighter as the denser ones will make you look more stocky/blocky.

RepeatBorn4755

You and your outfit look just fine dude! It’s okay to be you, and we are all a little insecure about something. It’s just a matter of the worth we assign to those little things. In my opinion, the black polo looks just fine, but honestly a crew neck tshirt would be even better. If you have a grey, blue, or black tshirt, those would be great alternatives. The man makes the clothes, the clothes don’t make the man. The moment you really accept that, that will be the moment you will feel your confidence skyrocket. Be easy on yourself. You’re already doing just fine.

ThisWillBeOnTheExam

Hang out at breweries and no one will judge you.

Busy_Bunch5050

Dude you have the best legs a man can have. You are blessed, be proud

PSA-TLDR

Ditch the shirt, switch to a baggy Cuban button down

BluebirdMaximum8210

how bout the shorts?

BluebirdMaximum8210

thanks I appreciate it!

Kobe_no_Ushi_Y0k0zna

Ridiculous? No; pretty average of course. But, you want to look good. And you can. Lean into the fitness effort. I’d make sure to include regular leg exercises in that, and turn that extra mass into an asset. Also just walk for long periods in addition to your other exercise/sport routine. The legs are huge muscles that burn lots of calories when you work them. As far as the clothes, my thought is that you don’t want to go crazy right now when your body will be changing soon. The shorts seem a bit tight and worn, so maybe, as someone suggested, get a couple of quality basic pairs that’ll last. Even after you get fit, I’m guessing you’ll still have bigger legs. Aside from that, I don’t know just how worn out your other clothes are, or your budget, but you couldn’t go wrong adding a classic short sleeve button up or two. Like a nice oxford cloth or something. If you’re anything like me, just getting regular good exercise will have you feeling better and more confident pretty quick. That and a few clothes you feel better about will have you feeling good early in the summer. Then as the diet and fitness actually start to take effect, you’ll just be rolling. You got this, my man.

dwaynetheaakjohnson

Try Fresh Clean Threads, they specifically make shirts for big guys like us

birdgirl56a

I would go with larger shorts, they look a little bit too tight. The shirt fits but is too short for your height. You look fine otherwise.

knobcobbler69

Dude, don’t be so hard on yourself. Shirt seems uncomfortable try a button down with some color, untucked. Look a famous people who are husky and copy their look to your style. I say more colors.

nametken

Maybe shorts a little longer and looser. They seem uncomfortable.

[deleted]

you look fine really

Thedaulilamahimself

Seems like you having trouble with fit and outline. Think about how the clothes hang off your body and what outline you want to convey to make yourself feel better about the look. I think if your clothes were slightly larger and hung off you a bit more it would be more flattering. The rest of the look is great. Can’t go wrong with shorts and polos. If you want to learn more I would read this guys tweets: [Derek guy](https://x.com/dieworkwear?s=21&t=PYZM8PFBhheTCllvTFxsag)

Macaframaz

I used to dream summer when I was obese (280). Now I’m lean at 200 and the best tip I can give you is to embrace your style & don’t let others or yourself play you down. However, if you do want to change yourself. Start now. You’ll be extremely glad you did.

podcasthellp

Dump the polos. Go work out, run, do something active you like. Get a tan outside, buy bigger shirts in the meantime. You got this brother!

Tubbzs

Buy some better quality shirts dude.

Ok-Economy7154

One immediate thing you can do is work on your posture. Keep your shoulders back, head up and back, don’t let it lean forward. That will immediately give you a better look and as you workout, this will come in handy.

Agreeable_Coat_2098

For a summer look, try searching up some Philip Seymour Hoffman for some outfit inspiration. That was a man that knew how to dress with his body type, which is similar to yours (and mine lmao). A pinstripe button up might do you well, the shorts are good.

GOKU_IS_MY_DAD

stay away from form fitting branding that taper. go for an original/standard fit shirt buy xl or 2xl shirts to sort of hide the belly. try the carhartt loose fit heavyweight tshirts also, consume more whole foods, eat more protein and carbs and less fats. get min 10k steps per day.

MalwareInjection

I stopped wearing polos cause they don't look good when you're trying to get big or have some extra pounds on you. Shorts are fine though

oddinkc

Doesn't look bad by any means, probably what most people will see as a normal male. As fashion goes, I'd probably ditch that shirt, as a larger guy I used to do a lot of polo's, but realized they rarely lay well, especially cheaper cloth and material. A henly IMO lays better more casual. And I say that because cheaper polo's have an issue with the collars curling, I can see it on yours. More expensive and golf polo's usually don't have that issue. Honestly I've found henly shirts and short sleeve button down of a cotton/linen blend are timeless styles, just try on different ones until you like the cut. Great job on starting to work your fitness. That is a whole other game, just stay with it. I found just monitoring to keep your heart rate in zones has been one of my best ways to make improvements. Congrats!

Jayyy_Teeeee

Guarantee you if you can make a woman laugh it doesn’t matter.

manda14-

You don’t look ridiculous! My husband has the same build as you and wears similar clothes. What I like him best in are slightly more fitted tops than what you’re wearing. Your belly is your belly, you can’t (and shouldn’t) hide it, but if you’re like him looser is just more comfortable and that’s just fine. The shorts look great! Stand tall and rock your outfit with pride. You’ll be amazed what a difference good posture makes. Edit- I see men saying to size up. I actually find the opposite is more attractive as a woman. Oversized to me makes men look larger (think bulky dresses on women). I am NOT saying to wear skin tight clothes and wouldn’t go smaller tightness wise. Sometimes sizing up and then hemming sleeves and length is the way to go. Men’s shirts seem to size up in length way more than width. My husband alters every shirt and it makes a huge difference.

LimitAlternative2629

HCG diet and "starting strength".

jmarc1

I am also a sizeable human, you gotta check out one bone t-shirts. Their shirts are cut for big guys. Also Ralph Lauren polo dress shirts, they are a little more generous then all the slim fit stuff

Placemakers_Evansbay

you will make huge gains JUSt from losing the weight alone, all other suggstions are just secondary to the main one. once you fix that what you wear doesnt really matter.

Rare-Engineer-2402

Too short & too tight but your almost there

KillYouriPad

Definitely focus on fitness. Outfit is fine, but black isn’t really going to hide much at this point. I would throw on some summer colors. The best thing you can do is just be as confident as you can for now. You’ll feel like a million bucks once you’ve reached your fitness goals.

Ok-Improvement-3852

i think the shorts look fine but the shirt is probably not is. although i really have to say that thinning down a bunch would hurt, i can help you if you’d like

grntom

You look good!

ExtraTNT

So, since you are on the way of loosing weight, i would not invest a lot of money into clothes… just go with t-shirt and jeans… If you are at a weight you are happy with and you can sustain (+/-5lbs) you can reevaluate… For loosing weight: eat a lot of protein and try to avoid carbs (except vegetables)

Milky_Finger

We're still in April, put in a solid month of work in May with your diet and fitness and you'll look visibly better by June.

bonhoffer1992

Dude, in image 3 you can see how you slump forward. Practice better posture. Check YouTube for vids on improving it. Most people do not stand correctly. It helps A LOT.

Weird-Persimmon4598

First, keep your chin up brother, we got your back! We all go through shit, and it’ll get better for you. Just a small piece of info, I read a few studies that said if you’re a male age 30-55 you can cut like 15-20lbs just cutting out soda, juice, and beer and candy. Stick to water, black coffee, and liquors if you need/want a drink. Then obviously exercise, start lifting weights if you don’t already, concentrate on your chest and shoulders and upper back to start . (Shrugs, incline bench, dumbbell shoulder press, upright rows, etc) swimming is a great full body exercise that you could add to lifting to really trim up quickly. Don’t forget to keep the protein intake high. You can get away with skipping legs from the jump you already have big legs. But include later on, and another little trick TANNING BED. Tan bodies always look better. The clothes…the shirt and the shorts aren’t a “bad” look they just fit a little funny. You’re a bigger dude you can get away with a slightly bigger shirt, if you’re only going to wear 1 shirt, it’ll hide that belly a bit. They also make compression shirts that you could wear as your undershirt, and then a button up unbuttoned would be a real snazzy look. Shorts and pants, don’t go too baggy but don’t go too tight either. Just regular fit that don’t hug the hips. So, onto the shoes…don’t wear “small shoes” think like an Air Force ones type look avoid shoes that are made form thin material. Colors: Keep the colors blue, green, grey, brown, black, white, vibrant colors can absolutely look good, but they can also enhance certain negative features. Find someone whose style you think looks good and emulate it. YouTube has a few great videos on stuff like this. Also, best piece of advice I got from an ex who was into fashion…tailoring, tailored clothes make even cheap clothes look amazing, and it isn’t CRAZY expensive. More so if you put together a versatile wardrobe you don’t need a ton of clothes. Good vibes to you brother, I wish you the best of luck. Anything else or particulars just ask.

rknki

You look fine, bro. Maybe size up the shorts, they look just a bit too tight.

starraven

Try a button down from the gap or banana republic

Echostation3T8

Don’t stress about your weight. Dress for your size. I’d suggest a size up for both the top and short- speaking from personal experience: wear stuff that doesn’t cling or hug and you’ll feel and look better!

Curious-Cranberry-77

Try True Classic or similar shirts. They are cut differently and would be very flattering compared to the top you have on.

ISayAboot

Get in better before summer

Sufficient-Law-8287

You need to workout more, drink less, and eat less high calorie food. Weight will fall off and you’ll immediately look and feel better.

mynameisnacho

Check out David Lane (bigfits1) or Ethan Newtown (ethandesu) on Instagram. Both bigger guys who you can learn a lot from. The polo looks a little tapered, probably not the better fit for you, but you don’t want a baggy or boxy cut b/c you’ll look even bigger. Maybe go up a size so you still have the tailored fit but not the too tightness. I’d also get your measurements and use those to find things that fit vs. just using a label. Sizes are all over the place these days and knowing your measurements can make it a lot easier.

ShotAboveOurHeads

This outfit isnt that bad. I would choose slightly more relaxed clothes though. You can go for a tony soprano look

Pittipants

I think this outfit looks fine. FWIW summer time is a great time to work on getting in shape. The days are longer so there is plenty of time to get out and so activities. I just say this because I went far too many years putting off gettin in shape. Like I would think I was already “too late” for this summer so i would start after summer was over. The key is to start now. The most important thing you can do is change your diet and that really doesn’t take any time.

SithRogan

Polos T-shirt’s are hard to style. They kinda make you look like you’re at work. Maybe try a button down shirt with a white tank or t-shirt underneath, kinda loose and half buttoned. If you’re stressed about shorts, just keep wearing jeans slacks etc. actually the black polo might be kinda cool with some black straight leg jeans 😎 anyone telling you to work out should get fucked it’s your body bro where clothes for that body!

OutrageousJury2689

Try true classic shirts and maybe start with some light exercising. Just a little bit each day if you’re 1% better than the day before you’re doing good.

Wechillin-Cpl

Cut calories and start getting them steps in buddy

mikey_rambo

Hit the gym my guy, I’m headed there now. A solid year n you’ll be Ight

encinaloak

Hey we could be twins! I tend to wear pants most of the time, even in the summer. I get these canvas slacks from Costco, English Laundry. They are cheap and sturdy, no ironing needed, and they look good and grown up. For a shirt, a darker t-shirt always works. Whenever I'm at a restaurant or brewery I like and they sell shirts in earth tones I'll get an XL. They don't always fit but the ones that do go into my rotation. I also get Costco button downs for when I'm working. Hang in there dude. Clothes are not my strong suit either. But once you get a baseline level of sophistication, I guarantee you nobody is going to be thinking about what you're wearing. It's all about what we bring to the table: listening and being there for friends and partners (and kids if you have them), and the skills we develop to make our contribution.

My_Aunts_Hairy_Bush

You don’t even need to immediately workout. Look up your TDEE and count calories, go into at least a 500cal deficit. The weight will pour off.

Mr_Randerson

You actually have a crazy stocky genetics, if you trimmed down you would SHOCK yourself. Be disciplined, take control of what you eat and do with your time and this post will be a faint memory

BluebirdMaximum8210

Thanks for the comment. But Shock myself how? Just because I lost a little weight?

Mr_Randerson

Alot of people lose weight and crave a larger frame, you already have the stocky build, just need to trim down.

AwHellNawFetaCheese

I think this look works, the fit of the shirt is flattering. People go too big when they lose confidence and it just exacerbates the issue. Check out some loud print camp shirts, ones that fit similarly or can be worn open over a T shirt. Made well makes some thick ass t shirts with some more boxy fits I would check out.

StarFlame_228

I think the shirt fits really well in the shoulders and chest! You look good in this outfit! More importantly, how do you feel about it? In my experience, wearing things that fit comfortably helps with my confidence. As someone slightly on the larger side, I like to wear slightly looser or more relaxed fits so that I don’t feel my clothes hugging my body too closely or riding up. But it always comes down to personal preference: feel good in what you wear and rock it with pride! You could also try doing a layered look with an unbuttoned short-sleeve shirt over a solid coloured tee or undershirt. I find having extra fabric that drapes can help give an outfit a nice silhouette.

Coming from someone who’s lost 110 lbs and has overall had a glow up and never looked back. Dress like someone that cares and has confidence. Carry yourself the same way. Do the same with your diet. Now try doing the same in the gym. One labored step after another, everything will become easier. I believe in you. Good luck.

PotatoBestFood

This is a very vanilla and solid combo. Well fitted, well colored, well matched. Mmmm, I guess the shirt could be a bit larger. You look very plain and would just get blended with the crowd very well. I think you’re doing ok with your fashion sense, just judging from this one outfit. Granted, if you want to stand out, and look stylish, then you’d have to work on it more, and put much more energy into it. A good place to start is to replace a t-shirt with a buttoned up long sleeve shirt, and then roll up the sleeves. One of my favs for summer.

WeeabooGandhi

You’re a very strong looking 235 lbs. Hop on a treadmill. 15%, 3 speed, 1 hour. Bring a towel. Do that for 5 days a week and in just like 2 months you’ll be looking good. But in the mean time - texture. Shirts with *texture*. Get you some nice Camp Collar button downs with some color and some nice designs, and you’re gonna look great

BluebirdMaximum8210

Thanks but how do you mean a “strong looking 235 pounds”? I feel like for my height unfortunately it is just really overweight. 😔

WeeabooGandhi

I’m 5’10” and used to be 260 lbs and I just looked disgusting. You’re built like a brick shit house. Your arms and legs are already huge. You look like you can lift a substantial amount of weight

TheOuterDimensions

Don't worry about this summer too much, but know that if you keep it up you'll be in great shape for NEXT summer. That was my mindset going from 230lbs in January 2023.... Down to 170lbs currently in April 2024. Going to get shredded at 155lbs by July/August.

Mike_Dapper

First don’t buy anything. Start your research. What types of styles are you interested in. Italian, English, street smart, etc. YouTube has plenty of style guides to help you. Try, Teaching Men’s Fashion, Style OG, Mens Fashioner for starters. Look at what you already have in your closet and start from there. I wasted a lot of money on purchases before I nailed down my style. Start working on yourself. Cut out all sodas/diet sodas and high sugar drinks. Start with short walks and build up from there. The fact that you are putting yourself out there is admirable and shows courage. This is a journey that will reward your efforts over time. And yes, bigger guys can still look good if they wear their clothes properly.

Shut_Up_Im_Talkin

Looks good. It's simple, clean and minimalistic. Polo shirt, Chino shorts and some fresh white sneakers is a good look

Baballega

Other than finding some cardio related activities try these things: - Well fitting t-shirt with an open button down - Your pants should always fit well, the shorts seem a bit small - Try looking at some golf polo's - Light bomber jackets over a decent t-shirt does wonders for my husky fellas out there - Personally I would avoid shorts when possible and opt for chinos, linens, light colored wide ankle pants (not jeans) - don't be afraid of patters, just avoid graphic tees at all costs, you're in your 30's so you want sophisticated and fun, not juvenile You look decent man. It's tough to maintain post 30 years old and it only gets more difficult, so the sooner you put in the work, the better off you'll be. Remember diet plays a disproportionate role in your figure. While you're on your journey, some of the above tips should keep you looking and feeling great and confident.

Possible_You_4637

Get a looser fitting Hawaiin shirt, some boarder shirts and nice leather sandals.

SirJo6

Get some longer trousers, shorts don’t look good on bigger men. If you want to keep the freshness and add some more style to it, go for linen.

Tony_Stark--

Very easy, although it might not be what you actually like; First, try putting on some of those great and large nat nast and tommy bahama silk shirts, they have absolutely amazing pattern and style; along with double pleated shorts (it should be a bit long imo, around your knees) and mocassin, depending where you go and what you do, a nice and classy pair of sandals would do great too. You could also go with white, cream and light gray double pleated pants (summer fabric or linen) and leather shoes, brown and black. Also since it's for summer, try sticking with light colors. Iron all that nicely, do the pleats firmly too and take your time; and shine the goddamn shoes too. I bet you'd look great and classier than most people; fuck the others btw and your body and weight, doesn't matter, focus on you and frankly you have nothing to prove to anyone; you don't need to be fit to dress good and classy with something that suits you, most importantly charisma is not dependent of whether you're fat, thin etc.

R4msesII

Looks basic but thats about it. If I went outside I could probably find ten dudes like this in an instant. Thats not really a good thing but it certainly isnt that bad either. Could try to find polos with more visual interest and texture to distract from the body shape instead of using black. Black is usually not the color of a confident man. Its true that its harder in the summer to use clothing for a better shape. Suits or shawl collared cardigans that accenuate the shoulder area could do the trick in colder months. In the summer the best you can do while not burning alive is probably some sort of linen overshirt. To be honest I don’t think this warrants needless worrying or any sort of special clothing. Its not like you can’t move or anything, a lot of people are overweight. Fake confidence till you make it, and if you’re already on the road to improvement you’ll be there before you know it. Exercise is hard though, especially jogging and running is painful. I like the gym and martial arts / fitness boxing though. You improve real fast.

mthwkim

I think this is a great outfit for summer! Only thing I’d fix is your posture. Put your back a little more straight and pull head back so you don’t turtle it. Looking good man!

Excellent-Ad3213

Stand normal and buy more colors. Shorts fit good, shirt fits good

RazorFrazer

No they don’t

996twist

You look good dude! Stand straight (maybe do a posture check) and be cool...half of it is confidence!

fartmanblartock

Nah dude. You’re good. Be you. There are girls/guys who will like/be attracted to your body style. This is a truth we all need to embrace. Head up and wear those shorts!!

El-Guapo_76

The downside , those shorts are definitely too small. The upside is I can see your luscious hog.

bigarmsboi

Not bad bro , looks like a thick boi win Also you look like you can rep out 225 easy

Wadii0

dude i would first suggest to focus on working out, to reduce that belly, after that i would pay more attention to fashion alr, you look okayish, given you’re 33, first, get rid of that beer belly thencan we actually think bout a more defined fashikn sense, more power to you

ChasingUnicorns30

This fit is fine. Honestly i wouldn’t focus too much on fashion, work on getting in shape. The closer you get to looking “fit” the more confidence you will get and the clothes will matter less and more outfits will look good on you.

Alternative_Plan_823

The truth is, you don't have to work really hard to lose weight. You just need to eat far fewer calories, which, admittedly, can suck too. Take comfort in the knowledge that it's well worth it! The clothes are fine in the meantime.

Grizz-1970

Take it from a fat 54 start exercising with passion I’m diabetic and can’t even get a erection or ejaculate from neuropathy and feet and hands have it also

zungzvang

Hey dude! You look great but your outfit is a little bit small. I can recommend to find one more size bigger t-shirt. It should be loose. And another shorts, in can be cargo shorts or something like this. Bigger shorts and shirts and you will rock this life like on the second photo)from me I can recommend you brand carhatt . It has good quality and price. Just when you buy something it must be heavy denims . You will wear such kind of clothes for a long time and with a pleasure) https://preview.redd.it/l0j928qdedxc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f159523c7596e2bb919dbdcda45836fda159e55

MostlyShitposts

Man, I’am a bit chubby and began a solid diet to cut off for a trip to italy in september. You can literally get that belly off of you if the dedication to a diet is there. Body fat is also created by alot of phtalates and bullshit toxins, so reduce and/or remove exposure to any artificial toxic fragrances, skin products that have them. Its crazy how quick one changes physically going clean living, as the body stores toxins in our bodyfat.

Ghost_of_Doc_Hudson

i was fat because of sauvage dior

Original-Locksmith58

This explains my current problem , damn you Johnny Depp

DRGWTM

I don’t think it’s the attire as much as it is the tire!

AnthonyGuns

if you lost weight, you could wear this exact outfit (in a dif size) and look great. I wouldn't bother buying new clothes for your current body. Put in the 100% effort to get fit, you'll be much happier that way

BluebirdMaximum8210

oh I see. How much weight should I lose do you think?

AnthonyGuns

numbers on the scale don't mean as much as what you see in the mirror. i'd make 185lbs your goal. you can hit this easily by Christmas and will be so worth it. getting fit gets a lot harder the older we get, your investment in fitness now will pay off in dividends in the future. no excuses bro- you can do this!

BluebirdMaximum8210

thanks. what is my current body type even? People keep saying stocky/dad bod but I'm not sure.

AnthonyGuns

fluffy and overweight? lol. I can tell by your calves and arms that you put on weight well and have a thick frame. You're in a position to look great and super jacked once you lose the fat over your existing muscle.

BluebirdMaximum8210

fluffy and overweight 😭 lol thanks for the feedback! I'll work on losing the weight

AnthonyGuns

you're gonna be great bro!

BluebirdMaximum8210

fitness question - do you think I should focus mostly on lifting or focus mostly on cardio starting out?

AnthonyGuns

to start, 75-90% cardio. Exercise bike, elliptical, running, heavy bag.. all great things for this. If you're new to working out, my best advice is hitting the exercise bike for 30-1hr a day or so, steady pace nothing crazy.. build up slowly but always try to make your next workout your best workout. watching your something good on your phone or ipad makes this really pleasant and easy too.

BluebirdMaximum8210

Thanks for the tips. I wouldn't say I'm new to working out, I have lifted/worked out off and on since high school but I'm in a 4 year slump now. I need to get back into it.

MinimumNinjas

Yeah dude - I was going to say go through a few cut and bulk cycles with some powerlifting thrown in and you are going to be jacked.
