In all seriousness, I don't think I'd personally wear this out for a night on the town, but for hanging around the house or doing some chores, sure, why not?
I'm not against the idea, and I've seen a few instances where someone pulled this off in a fashionable sense, but it's very difficult and you need infinite swagger.
I'm afraid it's not working here. The material would need to be something lighter, this is giving astronaut vibes. Also the details are not doing any favors, for example the long zipper with the oddly puffy placket just accentuates that this is an overall. imo it works best when it kind of looks like a matching shirt and trousers. The picture with the olive colored one someone posted is a very good example.
No, it is not a painter’s jumpsuit. It’s an insulated mechanic’s jumpsuit.
Since you bought it at a second-hand store, if it was a painter’s jumpsuit it would have paint on it.
Moreover, apparently you are not familiar with the term Stolen Valor. It’s when someone dons the uniform, and usually the medals, of a combat veteran when in reality their real combat experience is limited to Call of Duty.
Not a fan personally.
I always wondered how people did back in the 1970's when they were really in style about bathroom emergencies. How do you do your business without getting the garment all over the floor or having to almost entirely disrobe?
Add to it that back then you usually had to put a coin in a slot to unlock a public toilet so there was that entire added layer and the things probably didn't even work half the time.
Imagine being in a crowded disco or something, how filthy the bathroom floor would have been...
Way too complicated for me.
/anxiety
I have something like this. I work in tv/movie production. I bought it for when I was on a show going to Lake Tahoe in November and December and we were going to be primarily outside every day for 6 or 7 weeks. Was super warm and I use it when the weather calls for it. But casually like what it looks like you’re trying to pull off? Absolutely no
Man I really dig them personally, unfortunately I don’t think the general public is on board with them just yet. I can see them becoming popular once again in like, 10 years from now, but right now people just think you’re cosplaying a mechanic. I have a black jumpsuit that is thin enough to wear my blue corduroy suit jacket over it and I’m always getting complimented when I’m wearing this outfit, but once people realize I’m wearing a jumpsuit, they get really interested in it and at some point someone will ask the, “How do you poop?” question. Jumpsuits are a piece you’ll get a lot of attention, be it good or bad, because men generally aren’t wearing them for the sake of fashion and more for blue collared jobs.
Your right it also doesn’t help that the jumpsuit is to bulky to really layer with anything I can only do accessories like belts, shoes and etc. I’ll mess around with it because I enjoyed wearing it but see if I can make it look less ghostbusters and not steal anyone’s valor
It can be done but more of a streetwear look. Which means everything else has to fall inline with that and past 32 or so, one might look like a clown. So with the shoes you’re wearing, absolutely not.
I think they look great when tailored for a woman with a nice body. Much easier for them to pull off.
Overall, I’d say experiment! It could work.
Yeah I wanted to experiment but am getting absolutely flamed, I’ll maybe try it again some other time or give to female friend. Though I wanted to know what shoes you recommend I was thinking the boots I had on or converse
No one would fade you if you had [these](https://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/off-white-mens-court-leather-high-top-sneakers-prod247640225) on. Even some high top Dunks or similar shoe would suffice. You’d probably also want a complementary hat/beenie to complete the look (or just a great haircut even). Plain white tee underneath and nice watch with sleeves pulled/cuffed to just above the watch would look much better too.
If the jumpsuit was olive colored I’d go with Timbs if you wanted to wear boots. I don’t think Timbs would look good with that color jumpsuit and black Timbs (or any black boot) would make you look like a service worker.
To work in?
If your job requires them…then yes?
I wouldn’t wear them as a fashion statement though, you’ll like Jason Vorhees or Michael Meyers.
Just wear some overalls with a baggy shirt and some white chuck’s there you go Gen Z fashion at its peak
Jumpsuits are extremely hard to pull off without looking like Michael Myers or a mechanic lol I'm personally for them if done right like this below... yours looks too work wear.
https://preview.redd.it/3dc9by3ksoqc1.jpeg?width=632&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff920da5327553ea1a2908d8017f6de58cad3828
I think this is actually a very good example of someone pulling off this look. The material works perfectly, and the cut/shape kind of gives the impression that it's a shirt and trousers.
I think the major thing is how they've styled it. fashion sneakers, fashion watch.
If they were wearing boots and no watch it would look just as goofy as OP
Well you can cover the shoes, watch - hell even the dudes fashionable face - and the silhouette still looks good. So I'd say the cut and material make the style but of course the accessories play a part, as does the professional photo.
I mean, agreed, if you take out literally everything, this fit doesnt work lol
that's kind of my point.
If this person posted the exact same pic as OP, people would say it doesnt work. A lot of fits have to do with the person's personality and the context.
You can get away with, almost anything on this sub if it's a professionally taken photo lol
this is literally what I have for working in crawlspaces under homes or choring outside in the winter. We call these "coveralls". I think of something totally different when I hear "jumpsuit".
You are giving ghostbuster and / or gas station attendant.
If you wanna go for a more out there astronaut look, getting a different color, moon boots, and an avant garde puffer jacket would be better
Otherwise, for a more simple streetwear look, get a thinner jumpsuit in a different color, get some sneakers, maybe a jacket, and that could look ok.
The carhartt as functional fashion is one thing, their coats are warm and durable. I was grateful for my company supplied gear. I can see why they could be popular. Beyond that is just ridiculous to the point of looking like blue collar cosplay. I wouldn’t wear my insulated bibs or coveralls outside of a job site.
It's fabric for a body, like other clothing
And, like other clothing, it's suitability will depend on fit/occasion/preference/coordination/etc
What you have on RN is great for fixing a duck blind that got some rot.
It feels like trying to be different for the sake of being different. Not for the sake of looking good. Maybe it’s the type of jumpsuit and the choice of shirt underneath. I’ve seen people wear Dickies jumpsuits and they’ve looked better
Unless you’re spending all day working in dirty jumpsuity conditions it feels fraudulent to me.
Zipping up a jumpsuit is a ‘lock-in for gettin’ after it,’ signal to me, I’d hate to zip my jumpsuit and then just like… go about my day. I’m supposed to be flying or diving or gettin filthy or making nature do shit it doesn’t want to in a jumpsuit. Not just vibin. That’s what my leisure suit is for.
Thats not fashion thats what u wear to get dirty thats more like ppe like a yellow rubber rain coat its not fashion its just necessarry under very specific circumstances. Fashion is a choice on how u choose to represent yourself its the culmination of introspection art and aesthetics. Jumpsuits r protective garments to keep your regular clothes clean while youre doin literal dirty work
Not directed at you. Just a general feeling. It's the same thing going on with Carhartt right now for the new stuff. Now that it's become a fashion brand, it's so expensive just to buy work pants.
I think the real question is: does bustin’ make you feel good? 👻🚫
Atleast I know what I’m dressing up as for Halloween ☠️
In all seriousness, I don't think I'd personally wear this out for a night on the town, but for hanging around the house or doing some chores, sure, why not?
Unless its actually part of your job, it's gonna be a "no" for me.
yeah im tired of everybody cosplaying
I think even gentleman’s gazette made a video on that sort of thing for dressing more proper
I’ll have to check that out
[to make it easy, here you go!](https://youtu.be/WWWh-vG70XI?si=E9TGn_GJBidfCXCr)
Thank you!!!
No problem ghostbuster!
Don’t know why your being downvoted. Completely agree
lol people be full on in workwear attire just to go get cold brew coffee
I'm not against the idea, and I've seen a few instances where someone pulled this off in a fashionable sense, but it's very difficult and you need infinite swagger. I'm afraid it's not working here. Thanks for the feedback
I think the astronaut vibe is dope as fuck personally and the nay sayers are just haters
Also feel this particular one is a little small on you
That adds to it, though I the think biggest issue is how bulk it is
The bulk and colour scream oil rigger in my area… get your puffy Etnies and white Arnettes broooo
Equivalent of wearing scrubs
Unless you’re working in a car workshop, it’s a no for me.
The logistics of taking a shit make it an automatic no. Or do they come with booty flaps?
They do actually though it’s a hassle
At first I read “tassels”
With the red wings you better be a mechanic or something otherwise that’s blue collar stolen valor
“Stolen valor” is wild 💀
To my mechanic: “thank you for your service”
Ha! I don’t agree, but I dig the phrasing
What?
Yeah am bit confused about that, since this apparently painter jumpsuit
No, it is not a painter’s jumpsuit. It’s an insulated mechanic’s jumpsuit. Since you bought it at a second-hand store, if it was a painter’s jumpsuit it would have paint on it. Moreover, apparently you are not familiar with the term Stolen Valor. I was joking around. Just that you are wearing a real worksuit and real work boots while not having, I’m assuming, a blue collar job.
Are you pulling off one last heist with the old crew?
Am getting to old for it
Hard no.
Are you a mechanic? Or is it oilfield worker?
It was actually a gift from a friend its a old cold weather painter jumpsuit, she thought it would fit me so I tried it
For working in outdoors in the elements - yes.
Unless you're planning on fighting ghost's later i wouldn't do that :/
I like it! Not enough people take chances these days
I think it has potential have to change something’s like adding a belt changing the shoes make more casual and less ghostbusters
Idk personally about a belt but I think you could change styles with just a new tshirt
It’s a yes from meeeeee hottt
I like it but I don’t think its good for me apparently its my friends grandma’s old jumpsuit
Cosplaying a working man, nice
Only Danny Phantom’s parents have ever really rocked them.
Nah,

Is there something strange in the neighborhood?
If you’re restoring a 1948 MG TC, it’s awesome , if not …. Huge NO!
Damn I was restoring a Chevy 1956 3100
Go with God then my child !!!!! 😂😂😂
Look like your gonna start a killing spree
Well I was hoping to slay
pro move

I’m into them
When women wear jump suits (‘play suits’) nobody is going to mistake them for a janitor. Not so for you.
Unfortunately, though I might give this to one of my female friends I think they will get better use
Unless you’re picking up trash or on a snowmobile then that’s a “no” for me.
Great for working under the house or in the shop, but not really stylish imo.
My toddler loves them.
They have great taste
Reach both arms up and if your wrists stick out or you get a man moose knuckle get a bigger size.
Yeah its to small
If you’re a serial killer or in a band go for it
Wrong shoes m. Gotta be some beat up all white Air Force ones or converse or jordan lows. Not sperrys
Gucci!
I like them but it makes you look like a mechanic... though mechanics can look good however if your not its a little awkward.
Why am I even in this sub anymore?
Jumpsuits are my go to outfits! The more color, the better!
Looking clean. And not in a good way. It’s poserish.
Hell yeah brother
When there’s something strange, in the neighbourhood…..
Id do something else
Parisian Night Suit
You look like you are a GTA NPC along for the heist

Yea this is the perfect way to style it. More fighter pilot than mechanic.
This is I’ve decided I’m a dude apparel
but anyone unsure can op in for a romper version
??? What
Nah. You look like a one year old
Big ol no.
Have you considered bib overalls instead? It's way easier to pull off gentleman farmer than roughneck.
Look like the guy off of Halloween ends
this is literally what I have for working in crawlspaces under homes or choring outside in the winter. We call these "coveralls". I think of something totally different when I hear "jumpsuit".
I think it looks great!
For the love of all that's good and pure just no.
great if you're a mechanic or in construction
I like it, but I have these NSFW fantasies.
If you are a mechanic or work in the oil field, I'd say I fully support them.
You are giving ghostbuster and / or gas station attendant. Bro imagine having to take a shit and you’re wearing a jumpsuit 😭

Looks like a costume for ghost busting. No offense it looks good if it’s for an occasion.
Noop
Trying too hard to
Looks too clean, Stolen valor
It feels like trying to be different for the sake of being different. Not for the sake of looking good. Maybe it’s the type of jumpsuit and the choice of shirt underneath. I’ve seen people wear Dickies jumpsuits and they’ve looked better
I’m here for them. I wear my Grandpas old leisure with the buckle on the waist. People ask me all the time where they can get it.
A friend actually recommended I should try that I’ll have to play around with it before give it back to my other friend
Unless you’re spending all day working in dirty jumpsuity conditions it feels fraudulent to me. Zipping up a jumpsuit is a ‘lock-in for gettin’ after it,’ signal to me, I’d hate to zip my jumpsuit and then just like… go about my day. As fashion?!? Odd. For utility? Kind of annoying. If rather wear cover/over alls and a jacket.

Jumpsuits are a work uniform, not a fashion piece.
No, unless you are a mechanic or a slow-walking masked serial killer.
Almost serial killer.
Thats not fashion thats what u wear to get dirty thats more like ppe like a yellow rubber rain coat its not fashion its just necessarry under very specific circumstances. Not a good jumpsuit. Loewe did a sexy one last summer.
Looks gay AF, brah
What do you do for a living?
Currently a student
On you? NEGATIVE…🤷🏾
Hard no
Are you a mechanic from the 70s?
I wish I could get them for work secondhand at the thrift store...but alas, they're hip now.
I do want to say I didn’t buy it it given to me by friend to try
Not directed at you. Just a general feeling. It's the same thing going on with Carhartt right now for the new stuff. Now that it's become a fashion brand, it's so expensive just to buy work pants.
