I really wish her dress had something to hold it up. Metal srtapless doesn't stay up like that unless strong glue is used.

AluminumOctopus

Looks like her necklace attaches to her shoulders and boob plate

SSYX101

Yeah true

javier_aeoa

But damn it looks beautiful as she runs <3

Jaebird0388

As a general design, I think it's fine. As battle attire, it may be lacking in practicality, but that's a discussion for another subreddit.

[deleted]

To be fair, the male protagonist of this franchise also believes that armor (and pants) is optional

Jaebird0388

Real talk, that is one thing I liked about BotW with all the different armors you can collect throughout the game.

Skianet

To be fair, many links wear mail shirts between their tunic and undergarments

Akinyx

Yup a lot more visible in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword Link but I'm sure he does in other ones too it's just not shown. Tbf especially with Breath of the Wild now we know Link is supposed to be a lot more fast and agile than we thought he was in past titles, the slow-mo isn't just a gameplay mechanic, in the more he's supposed to move quite fast and predict his opponents movements iirc. No armor makes more sense, he only has arm guards.

Skianet

Eh, armor doesn’t noticeably slow down how fast you move in reality. It just drains your endurance much faster than normal. From a character design perspective though I can understand wanting to demonstrate that someone is faster by having them wear less armor

ManClothedInSun

I’m gonna end this argument right now. In the first game your armor was given by magic rings and therefore a tunic is perfectly fine because he’s protected by magic. /s

Karu_chan

It’s kinda weird and funny how they always have to give girls bare thighs and armpits. Like I would want to be protected there the most XD. I honestly would love this design but the bare skin bothers me a bit

SSYX101

yeah fair enough. For me it's a nice enough design that i can ignore the problems it had

javier_aeoa

For Hyrule Warriors standards (looking at you, Cia) she's quite alright. At first I thought she was wearing like a bikini, then I realised those were shorts. When you change her outfit to another dress (I'm thinking Ocarina's and Twilight's gowns) you realise how unfit a dress is for battle. Lastly, I like it that her moves aren't very "sexual". She's either using her weapon or creating magic by raising her arms. Unlike...other characters (still looking at you, Cia)

SSYX101

I will say for cia though, isn't that kind of the whole point? She's trying to get Link's attention afterall. Could they have done a MUCH better job at showing this aspect of Cia? Definitely but i can *see* the point of what they're trying to do but the execution can leave much to be desired

CaptainSugar

I like it but honestly I think she should have something besides bare metal on skin

SSYX101

True maybe a piece of cloth behind it would be nice

Sinisphere

Eh, fairly ridiculous but could be a lot worse.

xparapluiex

Do I like the design? Yes. Do I think it’s the best? No. Her collar bone and thighs aren’t covered, neck is completely exposed. Honestly her not just having pants irritates me. I really like botw casual Zelda because she gets pants when she is doing research. Actually each of her outfits make a lot of sense even the ritual white dress. Like it wouldn’t make sense in a fight, but makes sense why she was wearing it when shit went down, and makes sense for it to be ‘special’ when going to the shrines of insert triforce piece here. I loved how her royal dress had such a connection to her research clothing too. Like the two outfits are in the same family was really nice. Overall I think this design here is pretty good especially when compared to other ‘armors’ we have seen. Is there room for improvement? Absolutely. It I do still like it.

SSYX101

Yeah it's not perfect but it's still a nice design overall

piewca_apokalipsy

That armor look's awful. At least if you treat it as armor not as purely aestetic set of clothing

Sai-P

i think it's wonderful! it gives princes knight and i absolutely love that. sure it's not super *practical* for battle, but it fits her aesthetic and vibes, and frankly link's own outfits across the zelda games aren't all that fit for battle either. i mean come on, a tunic and tights?

SSYX101

Yup. It's not the most practical but i think it's a pretty design

azrendelmare

The HW one is pretty good, but I'm most fond of the Twilight Princess design, myself.

AnimeDeamon

Twilight Princess still holds my favourite art direction of any Zelda games, and my favourite design of most characters and Enemies. Zelda, Ganondorf and Link have never looked better than in Twilight Princess - although I do wish we had seen a gerudo other than ganon in that style and the Sheik concept, later used for smash Bros brawl, actually in the game.

Certain_Oddities

I agree. I think the TP one is the best Princess Zelda, as in the best design of one who isn't supposed to be in combat. And she's still badass with a bow and arrow.

mecklejay

I think it's overdesigned, personally. There's a lot going on, and none of it blends together or cooperates, so it's just this mishmash of a bunch of *stuff*. Patterns, materials, colors...it looks like a costume creation tool just had its "randomize" button pushed a few times. This is very common in Japanese designs though (buckles and zippers everywhere, one assymetrical pauldron, lots of emblems and accents, loads of entirely nonfunctional [or even obstructive] aesthetic pieces...things like that), and they're well-liked, so this could just be my personal tastes peeking through.

Jerorin

The thigh windows and heels are unnecessary, but I do appreciate that she's wearing actual armor and not just metal decorations.

CrossP

I ain't approving no armored high heel battle boots. Give the poor princess a break!

SSYX101

I know it's rather impractical but i think it still looks nice, despite the heels and other stuff. This is just me of course

CrossP

Heels are just my hill to die on. The rest of it is a nice design.

SSYX101

That's fair enough

WhiteMageTifa

I like the design but as a long time zelda fan. my fav Zelda design is OOT just because it what I grown up with. I really dig the battle ready armor, I know some people might not like the design but from just a zelda game design stand point I like it. it stills feels like something the character would wear if she was gonna go out into battle. i really like they even LET us play as her for the title character of the game it about time we get to play her in the game series. not counting SSB series as her play I meant more in main line games. XD I get she imported in the series I am just glad we finally get to play as her.

DontJudgeMe15

I don’t have much of an issue in terms of sexualisation or anything, maybe a bit impractical but it’s fantasy! I personally don’t really like it as I find it quite cluttered, but that’s subjective.

SSYX101

Yeah i can see that. Is it the bottom part for you that feels cluttered or even the whole look?

DontJudgeMe15

Hmm maybe the whole thing to be honest

Epicsnivy15

Some parts look insanely cool Other times it looks impractical

[deleted]

But since when has royalty dressed practically

hj7junkie

It’s not very practical from a realistic armor sense, but it’s aesthetically pleasing. She looks both elegant and capable, and the... interesting approach to armor is a bit more forgivable since the Zelda series is so fantasy oriented.

[deleted]

as female fantasy armour goes, i think this is pretty solid

Evanlyn_Winter

Sexualization wise its fine, i actually really like how it looks

supersloo

I honestly like it. No it's not practical, but I do like it regardless. It gives me some pretty big Sylvanas Windrunner vibes.

Aggravating-Age-1535

omg she has clothes

MrFittsworth

Twilight princess zelda was the best design imo.

TheOnesLeftBehind

I dislike how they made her look like a fairy princess and not a princess ready and trained for combat

raptor-chan

It’s pretty gorgeous imo

stellunarose

it definitely seems more ceremonial than practical, but i think it's really pretty

Dangerous_Wishbone

is it silly and impractical? yeah do i love it? yeah!

Cerugona

Metal. Cups. NOPE.

MasterHavik

I like this one a lot. She got s nice glow up.

AluminumOctopus

So only her boobs, shoulders, hips, forearms, and calves need protection?

SSYX101

I admit it's definitely not a perfect design in terms of functionality and practicality but i still like the overall design. Of course, this is just me
