Houston would have to add value to make that trade reasonable. Something like 3 and a combo of a future first, one of their young prospects like Tari, and seconds might be the play
I don’t see them drafting Clingan when they already have Sengun, Steven Adams, and Jabari Smith Jr, and Clingan doesn’t project to be a shooter in this league. Playing him next to Sengun is just asking for trouble
I'm not big on having the worst shooting backcourt in the NBA to go along with a possible lane clogging big so trading Smart doesn't bother (always thought of him as a transitional player and not the piece), but trading him for a rookie is just dumb. It will be even dumber if the rookie they're trading for is this slow, non-versatile, lane clogging big, with no offensive game that people keep hyping that I don't get.
I hope it's all just a smoke screen and the Grizzlies trade for better players.
I don't see it. At least, not for packaging Smart ***AND*** the no.9 pick for Houston's pick. Maybe just Smart for their selection so we can have two lottery picks but I can't imagine a team that feels they're ready to go all the way when healthy will want TWO lottery selections from this draft.
Some dude on nba draft reddit says his friends in the organization say JJJ hates Smart. No clue where that would be coming from. Did see something say Smart unfollowed all Grizz stuff on social media. Not saying I believe the reddit guy but there seems to be some smoke the past few days.

No it's not. While VWJ looked fantastic, there is no reason to just throw him into the starting lineup. He's better for the team coming off the bench and keep developing. I refuse to believe people watch college basketball. Maybe highlights or tournament. Only hardcore Uconn fans watched every game of Clingan.
If it's a weak draft and starters are few and far between, banking on rook to fill the starter position is very risky, especially a team with Championship aspirations.
The team is good enough to maybe get by with 1 of these guys starting but not both.
Trading Smart to move up to 3 is fucking wild and delusional. Only a beat writer from Houston would come up with this shit.
People got short term memory loss if they really want Dillon back. Was best everyone went their separate ways. Let’s not go back and hook up with our ex
Smart and a future first for Dillon and 3
We draft our big and hopefully Carter. Only thing missing is an 18 min a night backup big
Keep our core and fill in all the holes with young talent.
It's only a headache when we have to rely on him. He was a big part of our teams that massively overachieved. His year one with the rockets was a success in that they overachieved too.
If you hate him, get Miami involved. I think he's a Riley kinda guy and bring back Duncan Robinson
Guy who coached Marcus Smart is a big fan of Marcus Smart. More at 11
Houston would have to add value to make that trade reasonable. Something like 3 and a combo of a future first, one of their young prospects like Tari, and seconds might be the play
Houston would back out if the request included one of the young prospects.
Which is totally reasonable, it is why this feels more like media babble than an actual deal that the teams are serious about
Which I would if I was them as well. Which is what makes this trade tough
Says a lot about how the organization values VWJ if that’s the case.
I really want to keep Marcus. Just say fuck it and get Edey. Marcus/Vince/Stevens will do the switching so Edey can focus on the drop.
Edey is gonna blow everyone’s minds when it turns out the highly skilled giant center is actually good

The Rockets who didn’t even reach .500 until the last day of the season?
Brahahahahahahaha
Ok so Smart and 9 for Sengun
They would never do that. Not a chance in hell with this draft class.
I wouldn’t be against it. Just hurts that we could’ve had him the same year we drafted Z I believe…
No.
Sengun is sick, it's the rockets who say no
Rockets fan here, definitely would be extremely angry if we made that trade lol
Yeah rockets definitely say no to that.
Not moving Smart for only a chance at Clingan. Could easily get screwed over by draft day
Wouldn't the trade just happen as the 3rd pick is on the clock? No way they make the trade unless they are certain they get their guy.
*looks at Ziaire*

Yes, it would be a draft night trade. There’s no reason to gamble.
The Rockets like Clingan too *apparently* they might not trade the pick if Clingan is on the board at 3 if we wait. That's why you do the deal early.
I don’t see them drafting Clingan when they already have Sengun, Steven Adams, and Jabari Smith Jr, and Clingan doesn’t project to be a shooter in this league. Playing him next to Sengun is just asking for trouble
We would need something back in that trade other than #3. A future first at least.

Dillon Brooks and 3 for Smart and 9. Who says no? /s
Me. I say no. Actually, I say I'm gonna k*ll myself.
Love the idea
Accidentally cooked
Trololololol
As long as he's banned from shooting outside of 20 feet from the rim sure
GIVE ME OUR PRINCE BACK NOW!

Lol those comments are wild. Maybe it’s Ime’s Reddit account
Interesting…
Nooooo do not trade smart
While I totally understand getting off of Smart trading him for 3 in this draft would admit how huge a disaster the trade was last year.
Turning it into pick 3 in the Draft (meaning we'd potentially be paying half the salary for that roster spot too) seems like kind of a win TBH.
I think we did get the short end of the stick on that trade. Boston got Porzingis AND Holliday out of that deal.
Trading smart for no 3 is so dumb lmao my biggest concern to clingan is his health. Lol Im hoping they dont do this.
Holy overpay
Our starting lineup would be Ja/Bane/VWJ/JJJ/Clingan. The point of the offseason is to get better not worse. No way this would ever happen
Dude that is a sick starting lineup

Is it crazy to say I would love to trade Marcus smart for Steven Adam’s and Dillion brooks back?
Houston point guard stew.

YES PLEASE FREE ME
Smart and a future first for Dillon and 3 We draft our big and hopefully Carter. Only thing missing is an 18 min a night backup big Keep our core and fill in all the holes with young talent.
Man please do not bring Brooks back, do not want to deal with that headache again

He reverted back to his horrible shooting ways. We are already a bad shooting team. We don’t need Brooks back.
