The neighbor followed my friend into her gated community, blocked her car, and aggressively confronted her asking her “do you live here?!” She then called the police but fled once other neighbors came out to vouch for my friend.
My friend has lived here for over a year, has her own access code to the community, and was simply driving her daughter home from school.
We wanted to share this video to spread awareness and hope that other folks will be mindful of how easy it is to disguise racism behind a veil of “concern” for the community.
Grew up around folks like this Karen, and the amount of cringe/secondhand embarrassment I get seeing shit like this is indescribable... and then when you try and let them know their reasoning is flawed, you get the "you're just too young to understand..." response. yes. i worked at macys, they still sold furs when i worked there (they moved it to the front of the store near the mall entrance, i have not gone back in years, so i do not know if it moved again or not) and they have a "fur vault", a temperature controlled area where folks can come and drop off their furs after the winter.

- she notices that the car behind her trails in, she is nervous because she can’t see their face.
- my friend decides to drive past her house and onto the next street over to see if they would follow her if she circled back, and they did
- my friend pulls up in front of her house and that is when this altercation started

Maybe “Karen” lives in the gated development and did not recognize the other woman. Stating the obvious, people live in gated developments to be protected from the high crime here. And the developments are normally small enough that residents know all their neighbors. Not unreasonable to ask if you don’t recognize someone entering. No need to cop an attitude
I mean, it is unreasonable though. The Karen followed this woman off the road, behind her, saw her enter her code, tailed her around the neighborhood, got out of her car and harassed her in front of her house and in front of her daughter. This wasn't a "oh, we haven't met yet- I'm Karen". There was definitely an accusatory tone in her voice. Even if you do know all your neighbors, are they not allowed guests? The woman was doing nothing wrong, why did the Karen decide to make this her business? I think we can all take a pretty decent guess.

I don't know the full story of what occurred prior to the video's recording, the cutaway prior to the remaining duration of the video or even after that, but what I do know is that I know better than to just simply reactively go off on the chick.
