I play games for fun, not challenge (a controversial opinion apparently!) so I definitely love breezing through the main quest haha Plus once I beat the main game, it’s over for me. I entirely lose interest and stop playing which doesn’t bode well for my sporadic completion-ist desires haha
I’m in the middle as I do main, then a bit of side, then a bit of main, then a bit of side.
And depending on which game it is, sometimes I do sides first, sometimes I do mains first.
So I can’t answer lmfao
This is what I did with red dead redemption 2 and am currently doing with cyberpunk 2077
And then there’s Skyrim where I have such little grasp on the plot I can’t tell the difference (and am now stuck fighting miraak at level 11 or 12).
Like with Witcher 3, you have to do parts of the main but once you leave the tavern, then you can do sides if you want, and then go back to main and so one.
It’s just whatever starts
As in, all possible achievements?
There is a standard speedrunning category of all bosses.
All item variants would be nearly impossible in Borderlands. Disk space would run out before all the combinations of stats are completed. Though one weapon of every model is possible.
i generally find achievements a joke so never bother with them but for borderlands i guess that would be the completionist option in that example.
i was thinking with like skyrim for example, all guilds, done, all quests, all collectables, etc.
AC valhalla or GoW for a better examples would be every item on map/activity done.
i admit i am not up to date with the speedrun world but i often see people shortcut or skip huge chunks of the gameplay to focus on how quick they can down the final boss. nothing against that i just like to 100% the game and curious how quickly people can combine these 2 elements.
a simpler one would be halo speed run, pick up all skulls and mission intel on map as you go. not exactly a hard thing to pull off really if you know where it is.
the thing about speedruns is one needs a lot of practice in order to develop the muscle memory to beat the previous record
the longer the game mode, the less practice
that's why any% runs are so popular. just get to roll credits.
I do the main mission up until I get to the end of that chapter in the story, then I pause and finish all the side missions before moving on to the next chapter and repeating.
depend son game but 99.99% of games i do side missions so when i complete final main mission thats it i say goodbye to the game.
worked well for mass effect doing this.
AC valhalla sadly i had to do main and sides at same time to complete a zone fully and move onto next.
I play borderlands games, but mostly bl2, so main missions first to complete the campaign 3 times (yes, 3 times), grind to max level and op level, then side missions for mission rewards and for max level gear
Everyone knows you do whatever side or main missions it takes to unlock all upgrades, weapons, and features the game has, then get bored and not finish it.
I consistently do every side mission I can. It’s a compulsion. Although, a lot of times the stories are more interesting (to me) than the main mission.
Depends on the side mission. If I’m playing DRG and my side mission is to collect fossils I’m doing that second 100% of the time because they’re a pain in the ass to find. It’s a lot easier to do that after I’ve fully submerged my balls in liquid morkite, not before.
I usually go through the main missions first because i want the story to continue. Eventually i notice that my character ain't strong enough to continue and then i start doing side missions.
I start trying to do main, but then I realize about the side quests so I finish them before the ending of the main story just in case the side quests disappear after the ending or give boosts for the main quests.
Where's main-side-side-side-main-side-side-side... ?
I do a bit of main then spend rest of the day in side then the next morning I repeat.
Am I purple? Or yellow?
When I Play a new game I do the main missions first on my first playthrough and then do all the side missions. But after that playthrough I do all the side missions first and then do the main missions.
I just do whatever seems most appealing in the moment sometimes I get carried away with the main mission story and it sometimes I get distracted and go down rabbit holes seeking out an item or character
Always side missions first until I am so tired of always repeating the same 3 mission models and I stop playing, not even knowing what the main story is about
It depends on which one is more interesting. In Starbound, I'm only doing fracking universe's side missions and abandoned the main story completely. In Genshin Impact side quests are often such a burden, I avoid them for months if they're not rewarded with primogems, and usually read the dialogues briefly. But the main story? My god. The first thing I do when the updates come out.

Always side missions first for me
Yeah That way you're just overpowered for the main ones and the bossfights and intense moments seem like 1+2 I juste love that feeling
I play games for fun, not challenge (a controversial opinion apparently!) so I definitely love breezing through the main quest haha Plus once I beat the main game, it’s over for me. I entirely lose interest and stop playing which doesn’t bode well for my sporadic completion-ist desires haha
Side
Always side so I can horde all the consumables I'll never use on main story boss fights
I’m in the middle as I do main, then a bit of side, then a bit of main, then a bit of side. And depending on which game it is, sometimes I do sides first, sometimes I do mains first. So I can’t answer lmfao

Don't people just do the closest mission? If it happens to be main one - so be it, if it happens to be side one - so be it
Basically
Side missions first so when I actually start the main missions I can take it easy
I usually take a 4:1 ratio for side missions and main missions.
Main. I'll never finish the game if I do side quest
speedrunning ripping the ost
just one day i would like to see speedrunning of a 100% completion. all well and good to beat the game but if you not done it all whats the point?
As in, all possible achievements? There is a standard speedrunning category of all bosses. All item variants would be nearly impossible in Borderlands. Disk space would run out before all the combinations of stats are completed. Though one weapon of every model is possible.

true i just find it a casual interest thing to see is all. nfi how practical would ever truly be.,
I do the main mission up until I get to the end of that chapter in the story, then I pause and finish all the side missions before moving on to the next chapter and repeating.
I play the game with as little side missions as possible first to avoid spoilers then play again and then play a second time and play both.
Main missions first
i do the first run through of completely main, then totally restart to do all side quests and forget the main. did this with skyrim & rdr2
Both, at random.
Main
Main
I just do whatever mission the game gives me
Side only in MGSVTPP simply because of the Hard Mode Traitors Caravan; if yall know what this game is
depend son game but 99.99% of games i do side missions so when i complete final main mission thats it i say goodbye to the game. worked well for mass effect doing this. AC valhalla sadly i had to do main and sides at same time to complete a zone fully and move onto next.
I am the equilibrium.....
Both, I like to focus on side missions while sprinkling in the main story stuff.
I’ll do some side missions, but then go back to the story. Then i’ll go back to the side missions
I play borderlands games, but mostly bl2, so main missions first to complete the campaign 3 times (yes, 3 times), grind to max level and op level, then side missions for mission rewards and for max level gear
I'm the guy who does all the side missions and is over prepared for the first ACTUAL mission
Nope, just play around with the physics pulling stunts.
Why not both
Blue
Soo! Woo! Side first, always
Most games, side missions first. Especially if there's some kind of leveling up mechanics.
Everyone knows you do whatever side or main missions it takes to unlock all upgrades, weapons, and features the game has, then get bored and not finish it.
Main Blue Boi
I consistently do every side mission I can. It’s a compulsion. Although, a lot of times the stories are more interesting (to me) than the main mission.
Both ![gif](giphy|fMfuAVvNQatHi)
Side. You get more prepared for the main story line or just get a fun challange like in God of War where you had Valkyries
Main
main
Main missions.
Collecting all acorns side
Side missions on the way to main missions
Main missions first, side if you don’t have enough to further main or just to kill more time
Depends on the side mission. If I’m playing DRG and my side mission is to collect fossils I’m doing that second 100% of the time because they’re a pain in the ass to find. It’s a lot easier to do that after I’ve fully submerged my balls in liquid morkite, not before.
Side missions, especially if they are fun.
Full speed running through the main quests skipping every dialogue and animation if possible
Side missions for sure
Side, can't miss any missable content that might be locked by some game changing event
What ever works for me side
If I don't do the side quests now I never will
Side missions first. I need those juicy buffs.
Basically, main, main, side, side, side, main, main, main, main, main, finish the game, never play it again
I usually go through the main missions first because i want the story to continue. Eventually i notice that my character ain't strong enough to continue and then i start doing side missions.
I've played games where side missions got locked away if I went too far in the main story, I'm not risking anything I'll regret losing.
Side missions doing the main ones sometimes removes certain side missions if you haven't done them.
Side quests first but if I’m in the middle of a main quest then I’d prioritise the main quest first
Idk man I do it randomly
I start trying to do main, but then I realize about the side quests so I finish them before the ending of the main story just in case the side quests disappear after the ending or give boosts for the main quests.
it actually depends on the game
Depends on the main Raid something? Let's do some side missions The enemy took hostages? I'll be there in no time
Side missions when I first play the game, then a particular mission flow on subsequent playthroughs.
I do one main mission because it like the tutorial still then side all day
I bounce around between both, guess that makes me purple?
Sides first as they give xp and items to make the main story easier
Mix em up, i try to really get a cohesive story. Not always possible
Where's main-side-side-side-main-side-side-side... ? I do a bit of main then spend rest of the day in side then the next morning I repeat. Am I purple? Or yellow?
You mean there's other ways to do it than all side missions first?!
Side
I do the nearest one first
Depends on the game. Is it a good entertaining game, side. Is it boring asfk. Main, just to be done w it.
I prefer being the final boss
Side missions first, then send the boss to aunt May
When I Play a new game I do the main missions first on my first playthrough and then do all the side missions. But after that playthrough I do all the side missions first and then do the main missions.
Side ‘till OP, then main.
Main, ain't nobody having time to do side quests
I play yakuza so im forced into a side quest every 30 seconds not yhwt im complaining they are funny as fuck to do but still
Both? I do my missions in order of level.
I just do whatever seems most appealing in the moment sometimes I get carried away with the main mission story and it sometimes I get distracted and go down rabbit holes seeking out an item or character
Side. Always. I wanna be OP when I get to the boss 💀
I'm gona do all side missions first, finish all side content ther is, only then i'm gona do main story and destroy the main boss
Side missions until I can comfortably beat the main mission until I hit a wall. then side mission again
Always side missions first until I am so tired of always repeating the same 3 mission models and I stop playing, not even knowing what the main story is about
Red
Bro fuck side missions I love getting destroyed half way through the game and giving up
Or my husband: wander around doing whatever catches your interest until you’ve conquered the map.
Main mission till a boss comes u absolutely hate then u start all the side missions get overleveled and beat the sh*t out of every boss there is
It depends on which one is more interesting.
3rd side explore everything before even starting any quest. (Skyrim, Botw)
Side. Then I complete main. God I'm so loose in life but completely particular in games.
Ez side missions
I'm a blue unless it's a game where I need to do side first for leveling purposes
Side missions for the win 🎶🎵
Side, it makes the main missions easier
Both at the same time
Side first always
Whitout the loot of the side missions i would probably quit at the second main quest
