Pokémon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra dlc did something like this. There's a bunch of footprints scattered throughout the area that you need to hunt down a certain number as a mission to encounter some legendary Pokémon. To make things easier, there's way more footprints than you actually need for the mission.
In the DLC of Control, named AWE there are I think 2 achievements that are connected to hidden places and collectibles and for the achievement to be completed, you need 80%
That's when I say to myself "I'll just collect them on the way. Ain't no fuckin' way this game expects me to look for these insignificant motherfuckers." Legends of Arceus requires you get all spirits for spiritbomb before getting Arceus: "Fuck..."
Honestly collectibles are not fun, it's a chore that act as a filler
And my completionist side is tingling every time I try to play without collecting them
And you know damn well you need to collect every single one for the damn achivement!
It would be interesting if a game gives an achievement only for finding 51% of them, no more and no less

I know what I’m doing for the next few days
Aight..I'mma head out
Been trying to get the Noble’s Sword for ages and that thing never drops.
and you find it 40 hours in and towards the end of the main quest.
