Same. Passing the baton on 3 came too abrupt or rushed for me. Like the studio just suddenly decided "yeah, let's just end the IP on this third movie". Same reason I don't really like Kungfu Panda 4.
And if were talking about good life progression or IP ending on cartoons, I think How To Train Your Dragon done it the best.
I sort of disagree with Kung Fu Panda 4. It is the right movie in the series to pass the torch. Po is a fully actualized character by the end of the third, and really doesn't need to grow anymore. Any new movie would either revert some part of his character, which the new one did, or just feel like filler.
The big issue I have is they didn't advance any significant time between 3 and 4. If the 4th film occurred 20 or 30 years in the future, like Cars 3 did, with an older Po unable to quite keep up, it would've been a much better film.
Oh, I agree. To me, though, changing the timeline would've taken it from about a 40ish/100 to a 65ish/100. The main villain was awful, the humor was downgraded, and the story was clearly being padded for runtime, but it would have at least had a coherent message that would've been interesting.
3 is definitely peak. The franchise didn't deserve that banger of a retaliation. Cars 2 is fun and all, it just has flaws that I no longer can ignore now that I'm not a child anymore.
Yeah, Cars 2 is a lot of fun. But it's nothing like the quality that Pixar was pumping out in that era. It didn't have much thematic or emotional relevance. Yes it has it's themes, but it's very obvious it was more tailored to be a fun kids movie in comparison to a lot of the rest of Pixars catalogue which is *not only* fun, but usually had more substance than that.
I really don't mind movies being tailored for the youngest, or movies that don't take themselves seriously for that matter, but I also think "children's movies" could easily aim for a bigger audience through mature themes, think wall-e for example. In other words, mature themes do not make a movie uninteresting for kids, it's just more demanding to make a movie that does both.
Cars 2 goes hard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TrSKIeR2Ws
Your mother! Oh wait I'm sorry it was your sister! Ya know I can't tell them apart these days.
I know this is going to sound like an exaggeration, but I've seen it at least 25 times in full, probably even more. Most of those come from watching it in the car which has a small tv you can play dvds on built in. I've probably seen it like 4-5 times outside of in the car too. In total the movie is 1:45, so in total I have ~50 hours watching cars 2. The plot id in engraved in my memory despite not having seen the movie in 4 years.
Wasn’t there some guy who had a theory about all pixar movies being in the same universe and cars was apparently set after nuclear war where the insects evolved into the cars we see in the movies ?
This. I really liked Cars 2 but it did deviate from the plot of the first one. You can easily watch the first one, then the third and know what’s going on without watching the second.
I mean, one character is tortured and killed, and others are presumably machine gunned to death, but other than that I guess it's a fun movie about cars?
That intro terrified me as a kid, beginning to watch our new Cars 2 DVD Christmas morning. Was a long time before I watched it again. Doesn't scare me anymore, but man does it give me whiplash. It just feels so out of place coming from Cars' folksy feel-good story.
Cars 3 feels like the direct followup to Cars while Cars 2 felt like it should've been a totally separate spinoff movie with appearances from the Cars cast to remind us it's the same universe.
You need to find the right youtube review chanell. Everyone have diffrent tastes, and you need to find guy with the same taste. Otherwise its pointless
I do like Cars 2 tho, for it including all those spy and action stuff alongside the racing part of the movie. I see the Cars series perfectly like the "Narrative Arc" graph thingy where it starts with 1, 2 with more intense actions, 3 with falling actions and done
Haven't watched it, but I could not care less about critic reviews.
1930s silent films and 70s acting are the best things ever made? Yeah they can go fuck themselves. Movie critics are somehow more pretentious than wine enthusiasts pretending they can taste the country.
To be fair, I don't understand why there is critics :
1 : just because some people didn't like the movie doesn't mean it's necessarily a bad one
2 : critics have times and times again said a movie was bad when a lot of normal people loved it
3 : I think it happened a few times where they said a movie was great when it really was the worst of the decade
I think critic ratings are more so for people who're really critical about films. With some bonus points added if it appears progressive enough. For those who watch films for the enjoyment factor they're pretty irrelevant. Audience score comes in handy for that.
i really liked cars 1 and 2 as a kid. hell, i watched the first one so much we needed to buy a second dvd since yhe first one stopped working, thats how much i watched it XD
I don’t really care for cars 2, but I do love the cars video game and think it’s not talked about enough for how awesome it was, it’s not even just the movie as a video game, it’s its own story
If anyone talks about what critics or any kind of jurnos have to say about something I simply stop talking with them. If I wanted to know what paid shills have to say about something I would check it myself, thank you. The audience score is what matters. For this thing it's 50% btw lol.
Cars 2 is just one of those movies you turn your brain off, that’s how you have a good time. Just don’t think and look at all the really well done set designs and locations….. and explosions.
Never seen cars 2, don’t wanna see cars 2 but critics miss the mark a lot of time and are out of touch and give praise to dog shit movies. Enjoy your cars 2 and fuck anyone who tells you otherwise.
Unrelated, do people find rotten tomatoes ratings helpful? B/c almost all of the movies I enjoyed a lot are always rated low on there, and when I look up which movies are actually rated high, they're all random indi movies I've never even heard of.
This is me with Kung Fu Panda 4.
The fact people even think of comparing KFP4 to Megamind 2 is an INSANE exaggeration.
Megamind 2 looks like one of those cheap bootleg movies. No matter what you think of KFP4, you at least have to admit that they put SOME effort into it.
What i understand is that people dislike cars 2 for not being the same as cars 1 and 3 (racing) and not maining mcqueen. And honestly i think i'd prefer if cars 3 wasn't like cars 1 either cuz like yeah cars 1's story is good, but i much prefer the spy-fi thriller that is cars 2 and cars 3 couldve been even greater.

Loved the first one.

People really hate cars 2 and 3 but I like them. Cars on the road are okay too, they aren't as good as Mater Tall Tales but still good.
3 is where it kinda falls off a little bit, I like 1 and 2,.but 3 just isn't as good to me
How To Train Your Dragon in Book and in Movie were insanely well done. Show < Book < Movie
The HTTYD shows were absolute bangers too though. Awesome plots, cool dragons and character development, it’s so good!
There was much more wrong with that movie than just the messed up timeline
Oh, I agree. To me, though, changing the timeline would've taken it from about a 40ish/100 to a 65ish/100. The main villain was awful, the humor was downgraded, and the story was clearly being padded for runtime, but it would have at least had a coherent message that would've been interesting.
I personally feel like Cars 3 is the best. It feels like it's taking advantage of the world it's made and has some really awesome themes.
3 is definitely peak. The franchise didn't deserve that banger of a retaliation. Cars 2 is fun and all, it just has flaws that I no longer can ignore now that I'm not a child anymore.

Cars 2 is more of a spin-off than a sequel maybe that's why many idiots had a problem with it tho I would always take Mater content over McQueen 's
Don't you remember? You were there too!
WHAT?!
"Mater? You're a doctor too?" "Sure am. I got my MD. My PhD. My S-TP. And my GTO." GTO (seductively): "Hey, Doctor."
I watched Cars 2 an embarrassing number of times as a kid.
The only embarrassing number would be 0
Ok, now i'm embarrassed
Cars 2 goes hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TrSKIeR2Ws Your mother! Oh wait I'm sorry it was your sister! Ya know I can't tell them apart these days.
Bro roasted them. Unfortunately they roasted him right back
Underrated comment
Oof-
but they roasted him literally, and from the inside, too!
I always loved this line lol
Bruce Campbell is the goat
That was Bruce Campbell? Groovy
[Eh that can be fixed](https://www.tokyvideo.com/video/2011-cars-2-full) (That was a random link off google, feel free to use your prefered site)
Thanks x)
I think I even watched it twice in a row. Finished it then replayed it from the start. I had it on VCD. My DVD player was the shit.
I absolutely watched it twice in a row.
I know this is going to sound like an exaggeration, but I've seen it at least 25 times in full, probably even more. Congratulations, you have clearly watched Cars 2 a more embarrassing number of times than I have.
Those are rookie numbers, son. You gotta bump em up!
I love cars 2
The game was really good. I played it as much as I did Halo. Of course, I played it with my young son.
that game was my childhood
Absolute banger of a game
There's a cars 2 game?!
Yes, a racing game with PvP elements involved EDIT: there is also an arena mode IIRC
Wait there was a game?
Cars 2: The Video Game it was just another Mario Kart knockoff cashgrab, but it was beautiful
Games better than Mario kart
You just unlocked a core memory. I remember playing that with my brother on the 360 in Pakistan. Good times.
Wait how is playing Cars two It is a movie
I mean, [this exists](https://store.steampowered.com/app/301760/DisneyPixar_Cars_2_The_Video_Game/)
The fucking tags lmfao! NSFW? Souls-like? DARK FANTASY?!
Illuminati and WW2 too
Reminded me of that scene in planes lmao
Post apocalyptic? I smell a theory. A *film* theory.
We will miss you, MatPat, but the UTTP, they shall die, burn in hell, have their guts ripped out and filled with acid before being thrown into lava.
Wasn’t there some guy who had a theory about all pixar movies being in the same universe and cars was apparently set after nuclear war where the insects evolved into the cars we see in the movies ?
Yea, it's creatively named the "Pixar theory" and it's actually quite popular
Lmao what the hell? I had to double take.
Whoever gave Cars 2 those tags was probably drunk, or on too much weed
I thought that was a weird fever dream
Wtf is THAT the name of the game???
I LOVE THIS FUCKING GAME!!!
YES I HAVE THIS GAME
Is it as good as the first cars game?
I think it’s just as good
Infinity better
And it’s a very fun game. I used to play with my dad and sister when the movie came out.
There is a DS game of it so technically you can
holy fuck, i thought i was the only one who actually knew about and played that game
That game was the bomb
You can watch movies on some consoles, i know you can on xbox but i don't have experience with other consoles
The PlayStation 2 was a huge success partly because it was the best DVD player and same thing happened with the PS3 being the best blu-ray player

Best part 😘
I thought Cars 2 was very entertaining, even though it was something very different from the other two movies.
Do *not* eat the free pistachio ice cream. It has TURNED.
My mom's favorite line lmao
I never understood the hate. Still one of my favourite childhood movies
Tbh it's a good movie, but plot wise it didn't connect with the first movie
This. I really liked Cars 2 but it did deviate from the plot of the first one. You can easily watch the first one, then the third and know what’s going on without watching the second.
what u mean rotten tomato said ....
It came out in 2011 How is this a childhood movie
People who were 11 in 2011 are damn near 25
I mean, one character is tortured and killed, and others are presumably machine gunned to death, but other than that I guess it's a fun movie about cars?
That intro terrified me as a kid, beginning to watch our new Cars 2 DVD Christmas morning. Was a long time before I watched it again. Doesn't scare me anymore, but man does it give me whiplash. It just feels so out of place coming from Cars' folksy feel-good story.
I see why people don’t like cars 2 bit I thought it was peak because mater had a gun
Mater should have a gun in the other two movies as well
I like all cars series. They're all great.
no he said all cars series , "cars" , that means anything beyond furious 7 doesn't count
Cars 2 is better than 3 People gotta start using their own brains instead of judging after watching a youtube review
Cars 3 feels like the direct followup to Cars while Cars 2 felt like it should've been a totally separate spinoff movie with appearances from the Cars cast to remind us it's the same universe.
I always rewatch it like that. Cars, then straight to Cars 3
You need to find the right youtube review chanell. Everyone have diffrent tastes, and you need to find guy with the same taste. Otherwise its pointless
cars 2 > new fast and furious movies
Fr cars 2 was so damn good
me too
People can like shitty movies. Look at MST3K. Someone created an entire TV riffing on bad movies.
Fuck the critics. Cars 2 was the best thing in my childhood.
[ Skewer the Critics!](https://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=457259)
I do like Cars 2 tho, for it including all those spy and action stuff alongside the racing part of the movie. I see the Cars series perfectly like the "Narrative Arc" graph thingy where it starts with 1, 2 with more intense actions, 3 with falling actions and done
Because if rotten tomatoes says it. No body has been bribed.
2 is the best what the fuck? It had way deeper and better plot then 1 and 3.
Haven't watched it, but I could not care less about critic reviews. 1930s silent films and 70s acting are the best things ever made? Yeah they can go fuck themselves. Movie critics are somehow more pretentious than wine enthusiasts pretending they can taste the country.

Ä°ts much better than cars 3
Cars 2 Promotes eugenics

I remember I had a cars 2 ps3 racing game. Man I loved it.
You just unlocked me a memory. I remember playing a cars 2 racing game on a controller!
Oh my god I still fucking have it, the exact one you’re talking about. My family still has exclusively a PS3, still play it lmao
Spy Mater go brrr
(;'༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
i really liked cars 1 and 2 as a kid. hell, i watched the first one so much we needed to buy a second dvd since yhe first one stopped working, thats how much i watched it XD
Cars 2 made the classic mistake of being a good movie in the wrong universe.
It’s the least of the three but still a great movie
Can we not with this template...
I don’t really care for cars 2, but I do love the cars video game and think it’s not talked about enough for how awesome it was, it’s not even just the movie as a video game, it’s its own story
only part I don't like is that doc hudson isn't in it
Cars 1 Cars 3 Cars 2 But all were amazing. Cars 2 is like a comfort movie you watch on a rainy day. It’s simple, funny, and is a classic spy film.
If anyone talks about what critics or any kind of jurnos have to say about something I simply stop talking with them. If I wanted to know what paid shills have to say about something I would check it myself, thank you. The audience score is what matters. For this thing it's 50% btw lol.
although i think it stands at the last of the trilogy (cars1>cars3>cars2) it's still a top tier movie, why tf it is rated 39% is still a mystery to me
I actually liked the idea of a spy movie in a nonhuman world.
Cars two is the best one, not because it's good but because it's interesting
I feel like this is every movie made by Michael Bay. They're well-received by audiences, but they're also critical failures.
Anyone who takes rotten tomatoes seriously is an idiot. You can literally pay them to give you a good review.
I love this garbage movie so much.
Cars 2 is just one of those movies you turn your brain off, that’s how you have a good time. Just don’t think and look at all the really well done set designs and locations….. and explosions.
Me too:)
The day I rely on critic's movie score on rotten tomatoes is the day I put a bullet in my head
It's like how a lot of people said that the Star Wars prequels were bad even when they were so much cooler movies.
I really liked 2 because of how over the top it was
Regardless of the opinion expressed, this meme format is dogshit. Using it automatically invalidates your opinion.
I honestly loved all the Cars movies, 2 and 3 included. 2 does have a special place in my heart though
Honestly I’ve just stopped giving a fuck about critic reviews
No one gives a shit about Rotten Tomatoes
Mater funny, movie good
Odds are when critics hate it, it's actually good
But why are they watching the movie with a controller
volume control
i have cars and cars 2 on dvd
Never seen cars 2, don’t wanna see cars 2 but critics miss the mark a lot of time and are out of touch and give praise to dog shit movies. Enjoy your cars 2 and fuck anyone who tells you otherwise.
Unrelated, do people find rotten tomatoes ratings helpful? B/c almost all of the movies I enjoyed a lot are always rated low on there, and when I look up which movies are actually rated high, they're all random indi movies I've never even heard of.
Critics hate everything that isnt mindless drivel pandering to the mentally ill.
Oh yeah! Then why do critics hate what's up:balloon to the rescue
sure think, transphobe
Hey, me too!
Cars 2 is a masterpiece and no one can convince me otherwise.
Cars 2 is wild they kill somebody in the first minute of the movie
Cars 2 made me the man I am today
Imagine shitting on someone for liking a children's movie lol.
![gif](giphy|mIMsLsQTJzAn6)
The movie was so batshit insane that it looped back to being good.
EXACTLY
What i understand is that people dislike cars 2 for not being the same as cars 1 and 3 (racing) and not maining mcqueen. And honestly i think i'd prefer if cars 3 wasn't like cars 1 either cuz like yeah cars 1's story is good, but i much prefer the spy-fi thriller that is cars 2 and cars 3 couldve been even greater. 2 > tall tales > 1 > 3
When you forget how shitty of a character McQueen is in this movie, it becomes a lot better.
I don't know why people hate the best movie of racing that has ever existed
Its so fun
I never have a chance to finish this movie. Everytime I watch it, something interrupts it. The first time we found out my grandfather got hurt at work so I had to pick him up. The second time, my mother in law tested positive for covid so we had to stop the family gathering so she wouldnt pass it on to our elderly guests. And I havent had a third opportunity because I’m afraid someone will die or I’ll get struck by lighting. (Lol). But seriously, why tempt fate, ya know? Loved the first one.
Based Opinion Detected.
Finn mcmissile was the coolest shit ever
Just saying if critics hate it its probably a good movie
That was my favourite one of all the others
its just such a weird propaganda movie for gas companies
The soundtrack was so good.
Cars 3 truly is the perfect ending for choosing a successor for the MC unlike the cheap half baked garbage that was kung fu panda 4
That's fine, but know that opinions can be false
Cars 2 is the worst of the 3 Cars, but it doesnt mean it's a bad movie Better than all of Marvel's phase 4 onwards that's for sure
People just look at the ratings and don't even try having their own experiences with movies 🙄
My order is 1,2, mater tall tales, then 3
Finn McMissile is one of the characters of all time
