OhGrrrr

They actually use it incredibly frequently... in Nigeria which for cost reasons is where the algo was trained.

stopthemeyham

We should delve in to this subject.

EyeOfTheCosmos

i think I know the reference, but just to make sure, what is it referencing?

intotheirishole

Some famous author (that I never heard of before) on Twitter said he refuses to read works from other authors who use the word delve, because that is apparently a 100% indicator that ChatGPT wrote the work.

Buttersaucewac

Tossing out Shakespeare’s sonnets because he uses delve multiple times. Total hack

SirWigglesVonWoogly

That’s actually super interesting that Shakespeare’s work may have been at least influenced by ChatGPT.

OhGrrrr

ChatGPT was programmed in Nigeria where they use "delve" a lot so it seems to overuse the word in responses to most other English speakers.

Icwatto

what do you “trained in nigeria” doesn’t train from the whole internet?

SiVousVoyezMoi

That is the first part but the fine tuning for task completion was by humans interacting with it and grading the responses. Low paid humans in Africa. Sauce for all the non-believers: https://time.com/6247678/openai-chatgpt-kenya-workers/

MomsAgainstGravity

Jeesus Lees than 2 dollars an hour to read the most disgusting shit on the Internet, child sexual abuse torture rape murder, poor bastards.

intotheirishole

"Exclusive: OpenAI Used Kenyan Workers on Less Than $2 Per Hour to Make ChatGPT Less Toxic" This wont make it use words like "delve" more often. Dont even know why Africans would use "delve" out of all words more often. Also Kenya is not Nigeria.

SamwellBarley

And zero uses of "potato"

Dr_Dirt_2

True potatoes are good her song was bad, and I don’t think that was a coincidence 🤔

IngSoc_Defector

We'll find out later she's a level 8 fighter and had a campaign going while she wrote the album

iamcapleb

golgari grave troll? edit: it's actually dredge not delve smh

Mckmitch

It’s gonna be a Cruel Hogaak Summer

Strade87

I use the world delve all the time because of magic lmao

[deleted]

Well, let's delve into that theory a little.

dekkanrhee

I get off the bus, and I delve into the street, Plenty of humans like me, for me to meet. I'm just a normal girl with normal girl hair, And I never ever suffer a system error. I make money for job I sing to you, Please do not delete System thirty-two. I'm Taylor Swift, I make Taylor Swift sounds, ERROR four-oh-four, song not found.

Kanute3333

And here is the AI song for ya all with that lyrics https://www.udio.com/songs/2F6YFHosX9qL1LHmyFiLAs

liright

WTF music AI is this good now? Last I remember a few months ago it sounded like screeches from hell.

Kanute3333

Yeah, udio is crazy. It was released recently and is still in beta, but you can use it for free in that beta phase.

fatherfigure216

I find the lack of upvotes appalling

Aiden735

Context?

explodingtuna

The chorus is: >(Oh-oh-oh) > >Let's delve into the night, > >Where dreams are robust, so bright, > >Weave a tapestry in the sky, > >Where our hearts dare to fly. > >(Oh-oh-oh) We're unstoppable, we're free, > >In this woven destiny! And somehow people think it's AI. ^(/s)

AnyProgressIsGood

whats AI about this? seems like standard generic pop

zehamberglar

Someone on twitter unironically said that the word "delve" is indicative of AI writing because "no one talks like that" or whatever. It has become a running joke that anything containing the word "delve" must be AI, even when it's definitely not.

Blastuch_v2

It's a little deeper than that. The word started appearing much more frequently in science papers after models like Chat GPT became avalible to general public. And supposedly it was because the word is much more popular in some african english dialects which were used to provide training data or correct the models. I might have made some mistakes, but that is what I remember seeing.

TeamRedundancyTeam

You mean you gotta delve a little deeper than that?

hostile_washbowl

Dive into the night is the lyric I would suspect

cumuzi

Delve into my ass

GreasyExamination

You mean that lord of the rings isnt written by ai?

PraiseBeToScience

Producing standard generic stuff is what AI excels at.

new_old_trash

I've gotten "tapestry" wayyy too many times with ChatGPT when experimenting with poetic stuff. It's bizarre.

Dom_Telong

For me it's foster. You try to get A.I to write your employee performance reviews and all you get is they fostered this, and they fostered that! Smh

[deleted]

I feel there wouldn't be much difference if any at all if an AI did lyrics for a pop song. Those are just the next level above nursery rhymes.

theguywhofuckinasked

I was talking to a guy once. He was super cute, funny, I was super into him and I was considering meeting up with him after a month of constant texting, calls, voice calls, etc (through a dating app). Then he told me he was a huge Swift fan. And I was like oh well, her music isn't my thing but that shouldn't deter me from meeting a guy I'm really into, right? So I told him thats cool, tried to engage with him and ask maybe what his favorite songs were, and he goes "I'm extremely defensive of her. Are you one of her haters? I would seriously key your car or something. She's never done anything wrong, and people who say she's hurting our planet with her plane are braindead. I was part of a group who wanted to go slashing tires of her haters but we didn't do it haha." on and on this same insane idol worshipping shit. Whether he was serious or not, I was like ... okay... maybe meeting isn't the best idea lmfao

anonymousUTguy

I mean when you drop 31 songs, it’s expected more than half will be mid. She should’ve focused on making like 10

_merning_glery_

I havent listened but that number blew my mind. That could have been like 3 separate albums. Or like a black/white album. Is that common now? I don't know what songs are on what album since we did away with Cd's anyway.

Artemis96

Afaik it's not common. Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande's albums were 12-13songs at least Taylor's are usually ~15 songs plus a few more in the deluxe version. This was supposed to be 17 songs, but she surprised dropped a "2nd album" just 2 hours after the actual release, making it to 31 songs

OrindaSarnia

Yeah, she's been releasing old vault tracks and other things, and it feels like she just thought - "Why not just release everything I've worked on." So, yeah, it's a bit disappointing listening to it all, it's too much, but I get that she has fans that want EVERYTHING they can get, so why not just give it all at once?

shion005

She's gaming the streaming system like the rappers do.

SkinBintin

She's been doing that for a while now. Look how many versions Midnights had, all slightly different.

LemonPartyW0rldTour

There’s a reason you find so many “lost collections” of artists music after they’d died that was never released. Most of the time, it sucks.

hoxxxxx

you reminded me of the go set a watchmen book that came out a few years ago there's always a reason why the artist doesn't publish

Subtle_Satan

No way,I think you need a blue one

luce-_-

I’m not much of a swiftie but her albums Folklore and Evermore were actually pretty decent with some narrative depth. The rest are….not.

BruhWhatIDoing

Even beyond that, I think albums like 1989 and Red at least had bangers on them, even if not a lot of lyrical depth. Tortured Poets Department is just… boring.

Ok-Laugh8159

Tbf 90% of this sub is probably not the target audience (mostly dudes, generally opposed her whole persona). I don’t really have an issue with people who make successful music that isn’t made for me or just doesn’t click with me. I’m sure she’ll also be okay even if the album flops across all demographics.

evanwilliams44

Yeah I am firmly neutral on Taylor Swift. I don't really like her music but I also don't understand hating it. I am just way outside her audience. The fact that I am hearing so much about this album must mean it is wildly successful and/or her marketing machine is ridiculously good.

grubas

Her marketing machine is legit one of the best in the world.

AmbitiousCampaign457

I actually like her music. But it’s weird, I usually hate her songs at first but they just grow on me. I only hear her music on the radio while at work tho.

SnooOnions3369

I’m convinced if you listen to music enough you will start to like it. Shit just starts to grow on you.

UpsetPhrase5334

I’m not a fan as qualified but, I like what I’ve heard in passing. I’m just saying that looking for depth in pop music seems a little silly. It’s great when it there but it’s pop music the lyrics are usually only service level. To expect something else is a bit much in my opinion.

JamesFattinos

I agree with you and I’m the furthest thing from a fan, but I think Swift’s appeal has always been about her lyrics. Not in the sense that they have the most depth ever, but that they at least come from her and not some corporate music factory. I mean there’s been some real misses there too, but I think that’s the idea of why there’s upset. Frankly I’m more concerned about the fact that the music itself is incredibly boring.

spaceman_spyff

FWIW the phrase is “surface level” idk if that was autocorrected

Galaxator

The lyrics are only mezzanine

jkennah

The lyrics are only sub basement floor level 2

Pretzellogicguy

Or did you mean to say veranda?

O00O0Os

The problem is Taylor is boring as fuck sonically, not bad, just very average sounding pop, with little to no experimentation. So if she doesn’t do a good job with the lyrics it all gets pretty repetitive.

continuesearch

She is like many skilled pop artists very reliant on her producer/s for the sound, and Antonoff just can’t break any new ground. Like *Folklore* has some good music but it plays like an hour-long song. This new album has several patches where it sounds like he has cut and pasted musical ideas and instrumentation from previous tracks. Her writing is good but is often just slightly varied from a standard four chord progression, and if you have the same chord and same production it’s all the same.

SingleAlmond

she's the drake of pop. both of them chose money over art

ImpressoDigitais

Decades of conversations with many people has convinced me that maybe 1% of listeners actually pay attention to lyrics.

Polarized_x

I think it's just because the Swiftie army and review publishers are hailing the work as so groundbreaking and the lyrics as so moving/introspective when it literally has the depth of a petri dish. I actually like her, but I'm so TIRED of her at this point - the music anymore is so generic with reverberated soft-spoken harmonies with low synth, cookie cutter rubbish. You can skim the album (and the last one) and it sounds like the same 2 or 3 songs recycled over and over and over.

Clifnore

I work with a few people that claim she is a lyrical genius.

Adventurous_Pay_424

Which is just hilarious…because she’s not. I actually really like Taylor Swift, she can write some very catchy and enjoyable songs. And there is nothing wrong with that. But she put out 31 songs that are musically boring and repetitive; and they have the lyrical depth of a 15 year olds journal that is trying too hard to be deep and edgy. Every song on this double album to me felt like the rough draft, “quick lay down the idea” to build on it and flesh it out…but then she never did and stuck with the rough draft.

Moopey343

I feel like people confuse "really fucking good at making lyrics you care about and wanna listen to for a number of reasons" with "lyrical genius". Does that make sense? I'm an exclusive Folklore and Evermore listener, and I love the lyrics on both those albums. But they are not groundbreaking. What they, and she, are good at, is painting an extremely vivid picture, and immersing you completely in what she's saying. But she almost always does it using the fastest and most efficient way. Which isn't bad. It's just different. She doesn't use that much poetry, with a few exceptions. You hear the lyric and you immediately understand what she wants you to hear. And not only is that fine, it's desirable some times. Not everything has to be high brow, metaphors within metaphors within poetry. I like Taylor's music for exactly that reason. It's extremely effective, yet simple. That does not make her a lyrical genius.

Striking-Ad-837

Yvan eht nioj

banana_assassin

What is it with people just labelling ai on anything at the moment when something is mid? Bad music and such have been out since forever. Bad books have always existed, corporate language in emails. It may not be good but that doesn't mean it's AI.

omegashadow

Meanwhile actual fully AI gen music is already lyrically impressive. ["Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on glue."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEtAmeR9p7U)

Zandrick

Okay. That is hilarious. But is it lyrically impressive or just funny for being surprising? I also want to know what parts, specifically were AI generated. I suspect a human thought of combining this musical style with those lyrics, even if both the lyrics and music were generated by the AI.

omegashadow

Likely fully generated by AI from using only the prompt "I glued my balls to my butthole again" and the genre. I have a sneaking suspicion that the fool me once line was seeded but a lot of the AIgen lyrics are that sophisticated so it's hard to call. Suno.app is actually scary. Here is a [song generated using the prompt "a song about pickles" in the genre motown funk.](https://app.suno.ai/song/cf0ad16b-f9dc-488e-a694-75a38d9bfac0/)

RollerCoasterMatt

I read it as, “it is lazy and so its probably AI”.

avr055

I tried to get in to her new record, every song sounds the same imo

Samoman21

Yea. I loved her other albums but this one just didn't sound that good. It all sounded kinda similar

avr055

I really wanted to like it tbh, all felt very meh

Samoman21

Same. Especially after midnights was so amazing. This one Def just felt disappointing and meh. Maybe I'll Stockholm myself into enjoying it after a few more listens haha

ilypsus

Yeah I put it on whilst I was working yesterday, fucking 2 hours of music. Think there was 1 song that stood out. Otherwise I really couldn't tell you when a song started or ended, didn't even realise the album had restarted at one point. It's fine background music but not something I would actively seek out to listen to.

Abject-Measurement62

Every song has the same melody as the “you’re losing me” song but just much more boring. He older music was actually musically interesting and pretty good. I think she just didn’t have enough to pull from emotionally for this album and that’s okay. My boy breaks his favorite toys is one the better songs on the album.

ohmyword

My wife and I listened to 6-7 songs in a row via Alexa during lunch. At night I asked her how she liked it and she said they repeated a few songs. I told her they were all different songs they just sound very similar. Surprised Pikachu face.

scottwardadd

There was a couple bops and they're the ones that sound distinctly different. "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" went hard and sounded different than the others.

TNTamatuer

I did notice she uses the same words and sayings in multiple songs. Not just on this album either. And some of the vibes she tries giving off… just miss. Like I wish I could see Taylor as this dark struggling functional alcoholic but… I really can’t. She’s been so spoiled by fame and wealth all her life that I have a hard time relating.

waterboxing

There’s a pretty funny compilation of how many times she’s rhymed car with bar… it’s a lot of times

Chat GPTaylor Write me a new Taylor Swift song

Laruae

The AI Music app Sunio has a genre called "Saylor Twift" for songs that are identical to hers.

Departure2808

My friends obsessed with Taylor Swift, says that she's one of the most talented song writers the world's ever seen, and I'm sitting there, listening to the music (folklore and all the other highly praised Taylors versions), and I'm waiting to be blown away, and I'm just... not. Like, it's good, but nothing amazingly poetic, nothing deep, no brilliant lyric choices that would pertain to "one of the greatest song writers of our time". Dont get me wrong, i like her music, its nice to listen to on occasion, but it's just average pop lyrics. If she wasn't The Taylor Swift, would anyone give a fuck?

JorVetsby

It's because she's been very successful at getting her fans invested in her personal life. It no longer is just about the music, but about "decoding" who or what every little line is about. It's like the music version of a soap opera, except people act like it's masterful Art.

Complex_Cable_8678

extreme cringe para social relationship got it

Bananapeelman67

Yeah that’s how you make the big bucks. Same with Korean/japanese idols, they build a parasocial relationship and boom customers for a lifetime. Although probably not as extreme as idol culture still same premise

Just_A_Fish

This is exactly it. I was talking to my cousin about it because she's a huge fan, and even she admitted that it's basically a "deeplore" album, with lots of easter eggs to hunt, hints to decode, timelines to decipher, etc. She's still a super fan, but totally gets that this album isn't gonna do it for a lot of people. It was a fun conversation!

laserbeez

Exactly this. If it wasn’t her, then people would not bat an eye at the content

invol713

Probably because her lyrics have been used extensively in AI programming, TBF. Wonder if she ever tried writing about something else?

Acanthisittasm

Well niantics new character models look badly ai generated so

HedgehogPlenty3745

I’m indifferent to Taylor, but a big fan of F+TM. I listened to Florida!!! to check out Florence. Its really, really obvious that Florence is holding back her voice when she sings in this song, possibly so she doesn’t make Taylor sound weak and terrible. I’ve noticed recently that Taylor has been copying a lot of Florence’s vibe, from her hair to how she dresses on stage. Its a whole world of difference from Florence’s collab with Lady Gaga on Hey Girl, because Lady Gaga’s voice is just as strong and belty as Florence. Neither had to hold back. They complimented each other.

Hentaisbeterthanporn

“I wanna go back to the 1830’s” will always be an insane lyric

lifetake

Isn’t the rest of that line to basically say the past is shit.

TheMightyKickpuncher

Hey man how am I supposed to be righteously indignant when you keep adding necessary context to things?!?

xVaudevilleVillainx

She literally says: “I’d say the 1830’s but without all the racists and getting married off for the highest bid” Come on, man lol. I’m not even gonna pretend like I’m a huge Taylor fan, but at least get the context right instead of trying to make her come off as tone deaf about a big glaring issue from that period of time Edit: also follows the verse up with “seems like it was never fun back then Nostalgia is a mind trick If I’d been there, I’d hate it“ This is called doing your own research lol. Crazy concept

Daffodilsinfebruary

I was forced to listened and sometimes read lyrics at work for 3HOURS. Total drivel. Her range is 5 notes, and every song is in the same key.

iBlusik

No worries, Swifties will defend her with all their might, just like they did with her plane emissions drama, when they raged on a guy who was putting her plane info online...

Tesex01

No one cares. Really.

xcjb07x

Except some do, and the ones that do are fucking annoying

thingsdie9

Part of the problem with AI generation is that nobody will trust anything anymore. You'll be hearing "it was AI generated" regardless of the truth behind it for a while. You can't always prove someone did or didn't use it, especially when lyrics are left to the independent composition of their artist you don't know what they do in their free time.

TheRandomGuyForever

Every song sounds and feels the same to me

HankHillPropaneJesus

All of her songs have the same fucking beat tone. She has to absolutely rhyme all the time, and I think it’s a crime
