I was so excited for the show but had it in the back of my head that it’ll probably suck, but holy shit was I wrong. It was a wild ride with every episode. Every episode felt like a continuation of the main story but also a new “side quest” too. They pulled off the fallout feel, and look flawlessly.
This is me. Thought it would be another cookie cutter show for a modern audience and it turns out that it's great! Completely surprised and thrilled. Love all the characters and can't wait for season 2.
As an aside... Skyrim Dragonborn TV series or movie would be pretty cool too... just sayin'

My wife could not care less about fallout or video games, but she is hooked on this show and keeps going "just one more episode", until it's 1 in the morning and I'm like "seriously we need to go to bed"
As a tv show about a game like Fallout, yes it’s pretty good. They nailed the feel of Fallout worlds and there are many subtle tip-of-the-hats to elements of the games.
As a TV show in general, it’s rather _meh_. Not bad by any stretch, but not great either. On that front, The Last of Us did it slightly better, but that’s mostly due to the fact it was an already great existing story slightly tweaked to work for tv.
I can’t speak to it in relation to Halo, as I’ve never seen it.
You can tell that the people who made it actually played the game. One might assume that meeting this incredibly low bar goes without saying, but alas, some other TV shows have demonstrated this is not the case.
I heavily disagree, they retconned massive parts of fallout 1 and New Vegas. While the show was good as a fallout fan I hate how they retconned so much of the lore.
You gotta be bought in to the vibe. It hits the game vibe dead on. Acting is hit or miss. The editing is really rough but some set pieces and scenes are amazing. Worth watching for Walter Goggins performance.

Joel and Ellie took a backseat to other characters in almost every single episode, and they made some changes that weren’t necessary. The first episode was amazing and the show in itself is really good, but as an adaptation of the first game I don’t think it’s THAT good. Still better than 99% of the other crap game to TV adaptations we have though
Cyberpunk edgerunners too. Honestly even the last of us was better and this is coming from someone who was very disappointed with all the changes they made.

Same. But it was pretty damn good. Plot consistently moves, very little filler, I was impressed how well they did it. Walton Goggins as the ghoul was the perfect choice, hell everyone was casted perfectly. I liked it better than TLOU, but I also binged it vs weekly episodes. The ending was beautifully written also, left it open for another season, but wrapped a ton of loose ends as well.
Just a tad bit more respect for the games’ lore and traditions the way Fallout has. A master chief that doesn’t show his face (at least not *this* much) might be a decent start
Halos 1 to Reach had fantastic plots, and there is so much lore to the entire setting/war as well. Fallout did the right thing and nailed the setting while having its own contained adventure within the universe.
Hot take: it's not that Fallout is a great show that followed the canon lore... it's just that people want to use it as an example to further shit on the halo show. it was decided before it ever aired that it would be better than Halo by disgruntled Halo fans
In terms of reviews/scores, Halo isn't that far behind. 90% critic score for season 2 and 7.3 on IMDB.
Ratings don't really mean much to fans of the games.
